Progenix: Olótúré ......7/10
This is a pretty good gritty take on the sexual exploitation and human trafficking underworld in the Nigerian sphere.
I like how it tries to be very realistic. I thought the ending might be a little happy ending with rainbow and some sunshine, but no, I was surprised. Nice twist. That's how I like it, realism to the core. Love how the end was open ended. You're left to fill in the gap. Anyway you please.
If this movie didn't win any major award in the movie industry for 2020 then I'd be pissed. This Netflix partnership seems to be doing some good. Keep up the good work Mo Abudu and EbonyLife Films. Big ups to the Director Kenneth Gyang.
Not all the time we turn up and regurgitate comedies. Man, This movie was bearly a 3/10. If it was done about 10 years ago i would have forgiven the myriad of things wrong with it and pinned it down to inexperience but alas it is a 2020 movie with a pretty solid budget to ride on and it was piss poor to say the least. The writing.. abysmal, the pacing... incoherent, the dialogues... immature? Heck how are you using a language (Bini) and you are not getting a native speaker or at least prepare the actor/actress properly who is playing the part even if he or she ain't a native speaker. Ultimately it didn't pass any message that we didn't know before, and the ending wasn't a nice twist of any sorts, they were trying to leave the door open for a sequel. I would be very suprise if it gets any award. |

Progenix: Yea, I'd take The Originals anyday anytime over True Blood. Funny enough True Blood I haven't gotten to season 2 sef.
Originals remain the GOAT in Supernatural Horror. Especially the Vampire/Werewolf genre.
Still wonder at times how CW was the one who delivered this Masterpiece. That's because, the introduction of Klaus to TVD was so epic and well written, the "love hate" me relationship with Caroline was a good spin, so fans wanted to see more of it, hence the "The Originals", which was solid in the first 3 seasons, lost their way in S4 and it became total drag to watch, and they ultimately had to end it cuz there was no way they could take it any further, Julie Plec couldn't just leave when the ovation was loudest, decided to spin it off again to "Legacies" which is completely unwatchable now and useless. |

Olive25: I watch “the Crown”. The series is very beautiful and well-shot. When you look, you get colossal aesthetic pleasure. But the feeling of chewing gum does not leave, as if the director is afraid to overload the viewer's brain. Instead of showing historical action (what is happening in the world, behind-the-scenes wars, etc.) - one clear chewed line. Long scenes with kisses, silence of the main characters, etc. Therefore, the impression is very ambiguous. It would be cool if the entire series showed world history through the prism of the life of Elizabeth Il. But alas, no. Everything is provided for this story to last 10 seasons. Otherwise I liked Churchill and the scenery very much. Chief...What in the hell are you on about? The premise of the series is clear as day. Queen Elizabeth II rise to power, subsequent reign and all the event surrounding this that concerned her and her rule...so how the hell where they going to show all the historical action going on then? Is Queen Elizabeth II involved in every event/history in her reign? I think what you are looking for it's a "World History show".

MacDaddy01: I'm doubting that this snyder cut will be much better than the originally released one Well after leaving prod tragically of the original one, he has gone on an extensive publicity campaign to get his cut realased and WB has finally paid attention. It has got to be better than the original (which i enjoyed btw, despite obvious shortcomings), if not he's done as a film maker imo. It is about 4hrs long, i am just hoping it's worthwhile. |

VerifiedStalin: Bro, out of the 3, objectively speaking, Rami is the most talented. The guy is a method actor and has an Oscar to show for it. If you think it's easy to play a gay man convincingly and do gay stuff on set while you're heterosexual in real life, think again.
Jared Leto is also a method actor but of a lesser talent than Malek, but even at that, he's still a better actor than Denzel. If Leto brings his A game on set, he's one of the best in his craft.
The film sucked mostly because of the mediocre script not because of the actors. i am suscepting this. I skimmed through yesterday and all the scenes i came across were so lethargic. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 5:25pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
Cousin9999: While Denzel deserves several Oscars for his work, you have to remember that the academy often rewards people for degrading themselves or doing bizarre things rather than good performances. Leto got an Oscar for playing a mentally ill person. Malek likely did a good job playing Freddie Mercury (haven't seen it), but he wasn't really acting. Freddie had similar nerdy qualities, and I suspect Rami is gay. Denzel is actually a real actor, even though arguably he often plays himself. Leto and Malek aren't on his level and likely will never be. I totally disagree with you. Oscar "doesn't just hand you awards" for acting a bizzare role. The oscars for Rami Malek and Jared Leto are probably the hardest to achieve because they were for biopic roles so you can't just bizzare your way through those as the acting has to be actually good. Jared Leto in the "Dallas buyer's club" was immense playing a trans, removing "been trans" from the equation he will still had gotten the Oscar beacuse the performance was flawless. Did i hear you say Rami Malek "didn't" really act in the "Bohemian Rhapsody"? That would never be true in a million years, if you aren't interested in the movie, just see the end performance and watch it side by side with Freddie Mercury Aids Concert in 1985 and you will understand why he deserved that oscar and he ain't gay cuz he his in a relationship with his co star from Bohemian Rhapsody, the performance was so good, making you think he his gay. But my real problem is, how come this 3 incredible actors were not able to deliver the script of "The Little Things"? Already copped it tho, let me see for myself. |

Cousin9999: The Little Things with Denzel Washington
I was skeptical because of casting Rami Malek and Jared Leto. And I don't think Jared Leto even deserves a major role in a Denzel film.
I was right. Rami is not believable at all. Jared is a cartoon character. The script wasn't amazing, but I have to think that different actors would have brought more out of it. Note: I haven't seen the movie But how is 3 oscar winning actors not able to make a script work? baffles me cuz the ratings on RT is actually plummeting. |

CuteMercury: The old guard 100/10
This is one of the best movies I've ever seen since i was born.
There ain't no many movie out there that can withstand the old guard.
I like the fact that it's action packed and emotional at the same time, the fights scenes and that scene where the black girl tossed that motherforker off the skyscraper was just unbelievably wow.
I realise that the lady that showed up at the end of the movie was the lady that was locked inside a casket and was thrown into the sea for about 3 thousand years ago.
The question is that who released her?
Netflix should announce the date for the part two, i can't wait and i just feel pity for Andy that have lost her immortality.
I feel for her and how will the team survive without her. I hope they try to keep her save.
The old guard deserves an Emmy. You clearly don't watch alot of movies chief cuz my head is actually spinning reading the bolded. The Old guard is not even the best on Netflix's line up. And to crown it all, you said "it deserves an Emmy" so either this is a joke or your are clearly out of your depths here. |

"The Devil's Advocate" (1997)
Pre matrix Keanu Reeves stars as a lawyer who is on a winning streak brought in to defend an alleged child molester, it quickly becomes a battle of his morality versus the vanity of always winning with a peak Al Pacino performance, it will take you few scenes to discover something more sinister, dark and twisted was going on...
A decent watch 7/10.

TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 10:50am On Jan 29, 2021 |
TheKingIsHere: I hope you know the bolded refers to only the BO and does not account for streaming, right?
Same way no one exactly knows how much Netflix makes on their streamed movies.
Like I said, it's common sense, just apply it It's not common sense, you are only using this analogy to suite your narrative. You are helping me buttress my point with the bolded, you think $15 x 17m sub = 255m and wahm! WB will just take it to cover the cost of production for #WW84? It's only #WW84 that's on offer on HBO Max right?. You won't see "streaming fees made on a movie" because nobody actually knows like you said, they are alot that goes into it, paying of the prod. companies etc. The only way this your "mathematics" would have worked would be if it was done the way Disney did Mulan by offering it at an exclusive pass fee barring whether you have an active Disney+ sub or not, then you would know all the exclusive pass fees are going to the movie directly, this wasn't the case for #WW84. So except you have insider info that WB directly got $255m from streaming #WW84, i will suggest you refrain from horse wishing and accept reality. lol you can make $255M from streaming alone inside a month and yet big companies are running away from streaming their big budget movies. |

TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 9:47am On Jan 29, 2021 |
TheKingIsHere: On the bolded, I believe what you are saying is $15 subscription X 17m HBOMax subscribers = $255m....Which is actually correct as the studio has recovered it's initial budget. lmao yeah right beacuse that's how monetising of streaming services work dfkm. The official source is saying the movie has made $148M against it's $200M budget and you lots are here doing Jagbanjastic mathematics |

Olive25: I recently watched the movie "Marley and I" and it really impressed me. I was so imbued with this film. The actors played their roles so vitally that it seemed to me as if everything was happening for real, as if everything was happening to me. The film shows love, true love, man's love for man, man's love for an animal - a strong, friendly seed. Of course, the film is predictable and the ending seemed clear to me at first, but how hard it is to lose a faithful friend, emotions flooded over me in full swing and at the end of the film I cried for a long time. "Marley and I" or "Marley and Me"? |
