Friedyokes:George will eventually complete the books, but it will be at it's own pace, which is frustratingly slow. If they were to follow all the arcs, it will run into 20 seasons and become a writing headache for the show runners. They just choose the major arcs to follow. Catelyn stark as a leader of an undead army seeking revenge? Sign me up..but would they have fitted the arc with so many plots running from S4-S6. It was clear that from S1,the only Targaryen arc they were willing to follow was Daenerys and i think it was ok and good tho the end was absymal. I actually think Emilia Clarke's casting was the best in the show. The Direwolves were cut off due to the huge CGI cost in creating them. Then again, the show made so much money that even the merch sales from it could have easily funded it. Lastly, Yup, going to Kings Landing, to talk crap about Robert Baratheon's Children having Blond hair instead of black why been surrounded by the Lannisters and their allys?. He deserved what he got. |
toluxe0075:He said if he doesn't complete it this year, he should be arrested and year wan end, book we never see, if "Winds of Winter" is taking this long, how long will the concluding "A Dream of Spring" take? |
toluxe0075:I agree with your point of view. There was no way the Show runners weren't going to run into trouble at the tail end with an incomplete source material still feel they could have done better but they gave me one of the best tv serial experience for about 7 years, from 2011 to 2017 i was always looking forward to June-July and for that they have my respect. Seriously how does these fantasy novelist like JR Tolkien and GR Martin keep sane and not run stark mad from writing fantasy books?. They literally have to create, races, cities, towns, religions, languages etc from the head and put them into books running over a thousand pages. Lastly, still think Arya should have been the one to kill Cersie instead of some bricks, but we move..GOT was one of GOAT of Tv series. |
Brukx:You should know i am exaggerating for effect but "A dance with dragons" was 2011, a whole 9 years has passed and still no "Winds of Winter" tho he has released 11 chapters so far as samples. |
Friedyokes:Yeah,Since have been doing quite alright from S1 - S6, landing a perfect ending wasn't supposed to be rocket science for them, well the deed it's done now, rewatching from S1 feels weird now knowing how it ends. From the few i can remember to answer your question, We got to see the beauty of one the best battles in the show, The battle of Hardhome. In the books, since the book it's pov styled, nobody technically witnessed the battle, it was just sparsely mentioned. Mance Ryder is still very much alive in the books, though he suffered the same faith as in the series by been burnt at the stake and "mercy killed" by Jon snow for not bending the knee, this was a pivotal moment in the series ascertaining Jon Snow as a "leader" (Of course it led no where in the end) and the scene was lit. Sansa is no where near Winterfell in Books as it was her friend that married Ramsay Bolton but her returning to Winterfell in S6 to to exact revenge on Ramsay, reuniting with her brothers and Becoming "Lady of Winterfell" was lit. Robb's wife Talisa been stabbed in belly at the Red Wedding brought an heightened level of gore that shot up the ratings of the "red wedding" as one of the best episode in the series and it was of course lit, but in the books however, Robb's wife was no where near the red wedding, and so didn't die in the massacre and her infact family was even in alliance with the lannister. These are the few i can remember vividly, others vaguely cuz of the sheer volumes of the books. |
Friedyokes:Not an excuse and since the end of the book it's not known, it's the more reason why they had more creative freedom to play with the source material to come out with a more note worthy finale besides they have been deviating somewhat from the book and it was lit. |
armadeo:G.R.R Martin is a fraud at this point..Man is just too lazy to complete "Winds of Winter". He said definitely 2020, and we are almost in November... |
FergieRaww:So much. GOT had this slow build up of plot lines and character development right from S1 and that was part of it's charm. People were actually hoping these character development led somewhere good. Well like i said so much but let me hilight two..The battle with the Night King happened too fast in S8 and felt too rushed. The Night King was been developed over the seasons as the "main threat" to the seven kingdom, and we finally saw a great glimpse of it's potential when he turned Viserion into a white walker, only for him to die somewhat cowardly in a rushed, poorly written battle which one could barely see anything beacuse it was all pitch black. The Battle of "Hardhome" and The Battle of the Bastards" aren't one of the best piece of tv ever for nothing, these battles had great build ups throughout S5 and S6 culminating a perfect climax at the end of both seasons. Secondly, what was the point of Jon Snow dying, brought back to life and been a "Targaryen", it lead absolutely nowhere. I have noticed shows recently have a problem of landing the perfect " season finale". Probably the writers get confused on so many ideas how to end. |
FergieRaww:Can't ever forgive Dw. and DB. for that diabolical final season. |
Charmin1:The Belko Experiment. |
Sign me up.....
|
nani667:The only part that made sense. After they left the Maze, it went pear shaped. |
Bratking:lol i absolutely enjoyed it and it was totally worth my time. Maybe try the first few episodes to see if you'd like it. |
Saw "The Great" to kill time but it turned out to be one of the funniest shows i have seen this year. The satirical approach to Peter II and Catherine's rule of Russia had me laughing all throughout and yearning for a second season and HULU duly obliged. |
Bratking:That seem to be a general complain especially on the Subredit that it didn't start with a "bang", to me i was already hooked immediately the theme song and opening montage played at the very first episode. |
armadeo:First five episodes are kinda slow but things really got going as from the 6th episode so be patient, it is a great watch. |
TheWealthiestMan:Though it's anthology styled, i will advise one see the earlier seasons to be better abreast with the story style and plot theme moreover S1 and S2 are some of the best piece of television crime drama i have ever seen..S3 had a deep in quality but was still a good watch. |
Stonecoldstare1:The time gap for this sequel is far too wide and I don't think it's necessary now. |
Raalsalghul:His glory days are way way behind him now...once again if you see him or Bruce Willis in anything even if it's a commercial....flee. |
Stonecoldstare1:seriously doubt that, he's at the very last leg of his career. |
quivah:Naaa at Bolded, Euphoria is more realistic and actually embodies what teens actually go through in the western world. Both are solid shows btw. |
abduleez1:If Coro takes hold till November (looking likely), WW84 might be pushed to 2021 for WB to break even. |
Raalsalghul:Nicolas Cage is done out here acting wise, avoid any of his recent flicks like plagues. |
Chibudollar:series becomes tiring at some point especially those that air weekly. i have piles of series to see stretching way back as 2 years ago, i will rather see a one off movie and be done. |
abduleez1:i immediately started researching "Sufism" that's how much i liked the show.. definitely cleared some misconceptions i had about Islam. lol the Mia Khalifa episode isn't want you are expecting but season 2 was solid as well. |
12spices:make Nengi pipe low jor...she can collect her "hi" tomorrow. |
kingjoe:Not been Friends with the other housemates is not bitterness, she just likes to mind her business...a proper bitterleaf i stann, besides all her fav people are in the top 5 with her. |
Vexatious:True true.. don't know if you've seen "The Act" which was also another brilliant limited series centered on Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King. Joey King's Character physche was so tainted by years of abuse from her Mom that she easily willing connive with a stranger on the internet to kill her mom. |
IngeniousLeez:Sorry G. AntiSpam Bot dey move mad these days. E get one day wey e ban my main acc, log into my back up, remove links and repost, e still ban the backup. ![]() |
Vexatious:Exactly...The "Limited series" style has been HBO strong forte in the last few years and i have come to actually like it..I remember seeing "Sharp Objects" last episode and i was like woow with the revelations about Amma and i immediately wanted a S2 but after sometime i was like naah, no need, the end was perfect. |
Harry4cas:The intent of the the show runner was for a 1 off season mini series style and i think it was perfect and passed the intended message, forcing another season might not meet expectations and ruin the legacy of the entire show e.g Big Little Lies S1 was perfect and intended as a mini series but pressure from fans made them make a S2 which wasn't quite as good. |
Vexatious:Yup. It isn't based on a true story, it is marketed like that to be in tune with the Coen Brothers movie that inspired it which too wasn't based on a true story but opened with the line "This is a true story". |

Sometimes I don't blame the writers. GOT series built a simple but made complex storyline based on the book, and it was becoming glaring they would run into trouble with the very many solid character buildup they had on ground at the end of season 5 through the book. It only got worse when there was no resources to follow.
