DC is on a roll with Critics. It's 5/5 now starting from Aquaman. Even BoP was good. Prophet of Dooms were already predicting low ratings cus of a short clip of the movie that leaked. Yeah the dark days are over..Suicide squad was like 27% on RT that year.. really dark times for DCEU. |

LotaTee: Tenet - This movie confused me 7/10 I am still finding it hard to believe this much people found "Tenet" confusing...like it was a classic Nolan mind twister that shouldn't be too hard to figure out on your own or from movie discussing forums. If you saw menmeto, Inception or the prestige, then you should easily get Tenet. Hell "Donnie Darko" gave me more headache than this. |

At least there's some hope for the vaccines now. Even if e tey before Africa smell am, we still holding up well. To the surprise of the world with all their predictions how it will swarm and swallow us. Wiping out populations, but 2020 had its own plans.
Seems our Antibodies and malaria & diseases infestation has a way of evolving and preparing us for the "superbugs" of the future. #Wahala_for_who_no_get_African_Gene. Chief The Vaccines they have now are custom built for first class countries where things actually work. For example The Pfizer vaccine is isolated from a very unstable plant gene sequence, so so unstable that it needs to be kept at deep frozen storage of about -70 degrees constantly, na 9ja wey national grid dey collapse like every day wan store something like this? , And the vaccine is expensive as af, it's about $37 per vial and you need millions of it, na. 9ja wey dey neck deep in debt wan afford am? , top tier countries like Canada have already fronted Pfizer millions of dollars, to get the vaccine first when it drops. So the only hope 9ja has is if they find a more stable, cheaper vaccine and hoping "Daddy" Bill Gates comes through with donations. lol honestly, why it is seem Nigeria is "holding up well" against the virus, it's that there aren't enough testing been done and years of abuse of paracetamol, Ampicillin and Coartem is finally paying off ..Pesin go get headache here, e go self diagnose say na malaria begin chop coartem like say na chewing gum. |

abduleez1: True..... US is world's largest market and China just dey catch cruise this year. Covid– something they were being ridiculed for earlier this year, now looking like a positive for them. How tides could change.
How far, what's your take on the conspiracy theories alluding to Chinese government creating the virus.
I'm only surprised by the heavy backlash from some film producers (Chris Nolan) when it's the only logical thing to do. Omo...the conspiracy theories following Covid has been wild and following them will only lead you down a rabbit hole. As for me i have two theories, the first one been the Chinese "created" the virus to emerge a global economic superpower from the aftermath. But then again they ain't leading the race for a vaccine and China has been well on there way to becoming a global economic superpower before Covid, rivalling to some extent the US's tech industry, even the iPhone is made in China that's why Trump was adamant in cutting ties with them to stem this growth, so Covid or not, China is going to be at the fore front of everything economically good for years to come. Then again how is it that they seemly bounced back in a matter of months like Covid never happened why the rest of the world is still battling. For a Country that gags free press and freedom of speech, anything is possible so this my theory has an "half life". My second theory is that Covid is just the natural order of things. As humans evolve so also those viruses and bugs. Haven't you wondered why some malaria drugs from years back aren't in the market? Cuz malaria parasite has evolved past these drugs, and new drugs are now be used. Our actions as humans contribute a alot from what we eat cuz a place like Nigeria (Been the poverty capital of the world), if you enter a market to talk about organic and inorganic food and how it affects the immune system, dem fit rush you blow cuz the poverty is so crushing that people just want to eat and not feel hungry not minding what they are eating. So a battered immune system can't stand a chance to super bug and or virus. I read an article years back where scientist predicted these "superbugs and viruses" and how they are a threat to humans existence so there have been groups of scientist isolating these superbugs and viruses from nature over the years and testing various treatment combination against them to prevent what Covid is currently doing. During my Msc Dissertation, i actually studied the bacteria that causes gonorrhoea and how it's now resistant to most antibiotics known to man, and if something it's not done fast, it might become untreatable in the nearest future, it even seems as mighty as the implications of Climate change, it's the least of our worries. So those are my two theories, but which one it is man, i hope they find a stable "Vaccine" fast enough cuz if not omoooo. |

Fears of becoming a new normal(at least from now till 2021) is becoming real: I suspected Mousehouse will follow suit.
Disney announces Raya and The Last Dragon will premiere on Disney+ same day as Theaters too. That's the only way they can realistically make money cuz the US that's one of entertainment biggest market is doing a mickey mouse dance with COVID, they are likely going to battle it till late next year or even early 2022. |

"Tenet" Finally gave it a go after 3 attempts cuz i had to be in the right frame of mind to see this cuz of the reviews i have been seeing, and i am sure glad i did because it was a brilliant piece, so brilliant that i might even like it more than "Inception" which i was hailing as Nolan's masterpiece. Pros The plot as warped as it was could only be the work of brilliant mind, and very few film makers will even take on something this bold. The blend of the actual physics of entropy with time travel and "inversion" was stellar. Nolan even found time to infuse the "current climate change war" into an already convulated plot and the message was clear as day. It wouldn't be a Nolan movie without little Easter eggs to notice and follow. I thought the casting was perfect especially that of Robert Pattison as "Neil" and special praise to John David Washington, i think he did well as the lead. Nolan Cinematography is always prestine and this was very very good ( Dunkirk is still his best "cinematography" work i think). Cons The fight sequence was amateurish at first especially the scene where "The protagonist" had that kitchen fight but it got better as the movie progressed. The sound editing was giving me a headache (added to the one the movie plot was already giving me). This was Nolan's signature sound editing but enjoyed it in movies like "TDKR" cuz it a much simpler plot to follow so i could handle any distraction with the sound. So overall the movie was a solid 8/10 for me...and i am definitely seeing it over and over again knowing it won't hurt my head as much as the first watch creating somewhat of "temporal pincer movement" |

Even the big ones like Godzilla vs Kong, Matrix 4, Dune...WB's entire 2021 slate Yup...good move imo, it will be a good strategy to recover all the funds they lost due to Covid this year. So countries where Covid restrictions have eased up can see the movies at the cinema why those still grappling with the pandemic can get it on VOD. |

GodWrites: I just started following Fargo after all the hype, and OMG, it's a masterpiece.
The acting, the casting, the cinematography, everything was perfection.
How each character evolve and struggle to survive or perhaps, discover, it leads to more insane uncertainties.
It kept me on the edge, and I couldn't resist lighting up my weed. For the first time, I was lost in a world where my desire is for Lester Nygaard to be free of whatever he has done.
For Christ sake the pitiable wife was something else... What stops her from hustling and taking care of her needs? It turns out that this is what the society is today.
The female gender will always depend on the male, in spite of their feminism, they just can't control it.
Lester made a mistake, and understandable mistake that doesn't deserve jail. That cast is incredible.. His acting... I felt pity for him. sincerely S1 and S2 were some of the best crime drama tv ever that's S3 and S4 found it hard to measure up to them. "Lorne Malvo" was my fav character from S1..This Mf was so so calm whilst been a crazed and deranged fellow.. reminded me of another relatable persona of "Anton Chigurh" from "No Country for Old men". |

Gmajor: Citation (2020) Citation is a 2020 film that was directed by Kunle Afolayan which tells the story of a young girl who reports a predatory lecturer to the university and the ensuing hearing that takes place. First the things I liked about the movie. 1. Cinematography: the movie was competently shot. It didn’t contain too many bad or distracting shots so I have no complaints there. 2. Extras: The movie had a lot of extra and I appreciate that they went the extra mile to infuse a layer of realism into the movie. 3. Fight scene[/b: The taekwondo fight scene was really good. I was really shocked by quality of the fight. It was well choreographed and the actors involved in the fight really knew what they were doing. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more action movies from this director. 4. Location: the movie takes place mainly in a university and they made good use of the school setting to bring the story to life. Part of it was also shot abroad so it would seem that went all out. 5. Crateful use of language: I love how this movie masterfully wove between English, French and Yoruba. It felt very organic and natural. 6. Acting: The man who plays the Prof. Lucien has stared in some Hollywood movies so I wouldn’t have expected less. Temi Otedola also tried in her first Nollywood role. Her acting was good most of the time, though her emoting was off in some places, however, I don’t see it negatively affecting anyone’s viewing experience. Ini Edo is a veteran actress, but is it that she has forgotten how to act or that this role wasn’t good for her? Because her acting in this movie was mostly bad. 7. The twins: they were super cute and quite likeable. Though the shift from a very serious tone to a comedic one when these two came along was quite jarring. Things I didn’t like. I could write a 3000 word easy on all the things I didn’t like about this movie. But for brevity sake, I will just try and pen just a few of them down. 1. Pacing: the gravest crime this movie commits is its atrocious pacing. This movie is 2 and half hours long but it feels like it’s about 7 hours long. Shot linger for an necessarily long amount time and some scenes go on forever. The movie is so long so it was quite infuriating that the screen time was further padded with bullshit that added nothing to the overall story? Watching this movie was very exhausting. At the end of the movie I was relived- not because Moreni had won her case but because the director has final put me out of my misery. This movie had no right to be 152 minutes long. One hour could have been trimmed from this movie without affecting the story in any way. The taekwondo scene I loved so much, the sex for marks incident at the beginning of the movie, Seun Kuti’s performance and many other incidents should have not made the final cut. 2. Time jump as a narrative device: jumping between the present and the events that led to the present day is nothing new in storytelling. One of my favourite movies – The Social Network employs this narrative device in a similar way by jumping from before Facebook was founded to a hearing after Facebook has been established. However, a lot of the time jumps in this movie are very confusing, and you’ll be left scratching you head as to the time period the scene you’re watching took place. Also, in the social network, even though you know that Mark is being sued by a bunch of people including his close friend, you’ll be eager to know how they got to this very situation (the hearing). On the other hand, from the very beginning of the Citation I already had a good guess of how things will go. 3. Dialogue: a lot of the lines really came out weird. In some cases, the dialogues flows naturally, whereas, there are a lot of cases where the dialogue is really bad. Like, Real people don’t talk like this. 4. Not-very-smart lead: even though Moreni is presented as a very smart girl, there are some decisions that she made that left me scratching my head. This includes not putting more distance between her supervisor and herself, letting a random boy she just met lead her to God-knows-where in a country she has never been to before, brandishing her diarrhoea stained pants during the hearing etc. There is naive and then there is dumb 5. Editing: maybe I should have moved the time jump stuff here, anyway this movie has plenty instances of bad editing. Apart from the poorly convened time jump and the scenes and shot that linger for way too long. There is also a choice that was made in this movie that I can’t quite wrap my head around. When Moremi went to Senegal to find a man that would help her with her with her case, the scene repeatedly cuts from her boyfriend fighting in a dojo to her searching for the man. I have no idea why these two scene was juxtaposed with one another. There was no relationship- thematic, or otherwise between the two incidents so why are you directly cutting from one to the other? 6. Etc: a. An eyesore disguised as a wig: the wig that Prof. Lucian wore was not only extremely ugly but utterly unnecessary. Even if the director didn’t want him to be bald, at least they could have done a better job with the wig. It was so annoying to look at. b. Annoying beret girl on the panel: I thoroughly hated this character. Come to think of it, in a real life situation will a student representative be allowed on the panel? Who know? c. Audio: the audio during Seun kuti’s performance was bad. I don’t know if it was on propose or that the mic on set were bad and for some reason they didn’t fix it post, but anyway it wasn’t good.
In summary, this movie is very pretentious. The dialogue is pretentious and the artistic choices that were made were pretentious. The movie has zero suspense and it plays out exactly like you would expect. The movie is slow and tedious and I don’t see myself watching it more than once. If this movie was 90-110 minutes long, I would have given it a rating of 5/10 but because this lasted forever, I’ll be giving it a rating of 4/10.
I'm almost giving up on Nollywood. All the "Headliners" since last year from "Living in Bondage" to Sugar Rush to Oloture and the recently released citation" have been below par which it's kind of disappointing considering the kind of attention they are getting from the world over with the movies been on major VOD platforms. While a good budget is necessary to make a successful flick, i have put down nollywood's problem to " not enough talent" cuz they are telling the right stories it's the interpretation that they are getting wrong...still holding out the light of hope tho. |

I don't know why nollywood still gets these basic things wrong when they have been at this business for over 3 decades.Coupled with a bland ending (trying to infuse a scenario where it will lead to a sequel but ultimately failing), in the end the movie passed absolutely no message that we didn't see in "Izozo" years back. |
