armadeo: Exactly like me. I slept off while it was still playing. It felt like they were trying too hard. I'll see it later today though
No sudden moves 7.5/10. Don cheadle carried this one to the finish line.
Sudden cameo appearance by M..... was unexpected. Good movie about hustlers. There's was no need for a sequel to "Hitman's Bodyguard" cuz the plot was warped from the beginning, there's no way you are bending such plot to a sequel without ending up with a hot mess, the two leads carried the first installment , but of course, these Hollywood lots will milk even a dead cow. |

abduleez1: It's not all about the ratings. Mortal Kombat which you see as a poor has HBOMax biggest streaming numbers ever. Same as GvK and also Zack Snyder's Justice League before usurped by MK. These are chart topping movies for the streamer. These movies generated massive sign-ups for HBOMax. Box office wise, GvK and MK proved to studios and distributors that audiences will come out to watch movies if its big enough, that's even when these movies are simultaneously on a Streaming platform.
On the ratings: There's 'In The Heights' with 97%, while this No Sudden Move is 86%. Besides, even the almost perfect RT score and rave reviews for In the Heights still didn't save it from massively underperforming box office wise as it didn't even gross half of the estimated expectations. Everyone thought it was gonna do well but audiences proved otherwise.
2021 has shown, if movies aren't blockbusters must watch movies, hardly anyone will come out to watch no matter the cast or director. Peeps will wait it out to drop on streaming, covid has already made people accustomed to watch top movies on streamers, so peeps can wait. Also, streamers are cheaper to watch movies than theaters. So if you ain't a Blockbuster action, peeps ain't turning up. I think we are towing at the same point here. Movies might not perform all that well critically but will still rake in the big bucks, seeing huge titles GvK and MK with years of fantastic franchise behind them, will send any streaming platform overboard, bottom line, People will still want to see them no matter how they perform critically meaning more bucks to the streaming platform. I for one, have almost 90% cancelled my cinema plans for the year knowing these movies will simul-stream probably on the same week as the cinema release...am out here waiting it out to see a clear copy of "Dune" in the comfort of my home the day it's released . |

abduleez1: HBOMax has released only 3 Original movies this year. The ones you're seeing is WB movies simultaneously streamed in a bigger plan to build Max numbers. The plan has been a rousing success so far. HBOMAX Original movies so far this year: Locked Down, ZSJL and probably No Sudden Move.
HBOMax Original programming that has done good job are their series. Movies are moved till next year, WB movies will suffice for now. Original Series that has done well: Hacks, Raised By Wolves(critically), Genera+ion, and The Flight Attendant. Gossip Girl comes next week.
They have programmings that has been working for them, you are just not aware. HBOMax won't make much rave till next year when their BIG IPs starts showing. Ok well said and agreed. And Mann...you really know your "Hbomax" lol, thumbs up. and yeah i have been really fine with their series, for eg., I casually picked up "Hacks" to see some days ago, and it had one of the most solid Pilot i have seen in years, so strong that i literally just binged thru it all at a go. |

pu7pl3: These are not original movies...what he was referring to that works for them are original movies..and that's what you said in your first post My bad then, was referring to movies distributed by thier parent company, WB this year. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 6:40pm On Jul 02, 2021 |
abduleez1: Why should they? It's been working wonders for them.
Besides, HBOMax Big Titles is yet to come. So it's still better days ahead. I'm not even sure they promoted the movie enough. Although, with such cast it seems something they planning for Awards night. These are 4 titles from them out this year, i choose at random and none of them could even get to 80% on RT. So pray tell the "wonders" these titles have been working for them, probably it's monetary and streaming values.

phr0nesis: Had generally favourable reviews from critics Yeah..but the People who actually see movies for the love it, and not because they are paid to says otherwise.... I actually need to see it tho, the Cast is too solid to pass up.

Hearing "No sudden Move" with it's stellar cast was still a bust...Mannn.. Maybe HBOmax should take a step back from this original movies thing cuz i don't know what they have been doing all year. |

Werey....when he don let show spoil finish. Make the G.R.R Martin get out. I for one has lost interest in knowing how the book ends. |

Moneyboyz: Latest installment of Saw is a shitshow If we analyse critically, 2021 has general been a shitshow movie wise so much so that even seeing "2021" attached to any movie is already a red flag for me. I have been banking on movies from yester years since February for my cinematic pleasure. |

nani667: Any improvement in S3 ❓
Still have Seasons 1 & 2 on my phone for ages.. Saw some episodes of Season 1, the thing jus dry with Skrep girls S3 so far has some improvements over S2 which was garbage but it's nowhere near how good S1 was. So if you don't like S1, i don't think you will like S3 not to talk of S2. |

coolcat01: I watch Christopher Nolan's spectacular films more often without any pleasure. Rather, before, I always started with enthusiasm, which was quickly blown away. It's hard to say what I miss in his films, they are very modern, or rather, millions are felt in them, but most of the time I sleep. Once I went to the cinema to see Interstellar and I remember nothing but the inconvenience of a man who had been immobile for almost three hours. Tenet is quite watchable, especially for those, who is in free search. You can think up a lot and attribute a lot to your own achievements of the mind. Or the director, it's up to you. The plot, contrary to the opinion of many, I do not think is twisted or too smart, it is the same as always. Here is the old combination of absurd and pretentious. No more. It is very possible not to like Christopher Nolan or it's film making style but he's anything but pretentious. His ideas are usually bold and dare i say "Challenging the norm" which translates to movies that have stellar ratings. Don't follow "herd mentality" to like him, just find your niche and stick with it but make no mistake Christopher Nolan is a very brilliant and exceptional filmmaker. |

Achilles100: Resident Alien felt dry to me, after 2 episodes, I stopped.
All those '-ish' people I nor watch any.
The babe doing that 'I may destroy you' I just don't like her.
Ted Lasso and Barry are top tier for me. Can't wait for the second season of Ted Lasso. Really? Why? "I may destroy you" was one of the best piece of Tv last year though the theme was too heavy for some people. She also does these witty brit comedy that is so class. See the series "Chewing gum" for e.g. |
