Stonecoldstare1:
Love this. The novel is a tearjerker on it's own and had slight similarities to the movie "lion" but really different endings

Why do you always blur the first words/sentence of all your screenshot?

Gmajor:
Like I said initially, it is enjoyable.
A movie can be flawed and still be fun and enjoyable.

Here are some Deus ex machinas I can remember.

1) when the Harry and Ron were in the spiders den and were almost devoured by the spiders, the flying car just magically appears out of thin air and after that rescue, the car is never seen again.

2) in the chamber of secret, Dumbuldor's bird magically finds its way into the chamber and blinds the Basaliks.

The birds also managed to bring the sorting hat that somehow contained the only weapon that can defeat a basalik.

The bird also has an antidote to something as lethal as a basalik bite.

The bird also has magically powers that can allow it to life 4 people out of a well.

Hmmmmm

Granted, Deus ex Machina are very prevalent in fantasy and I don't hate them.

But when you compare HP 2 to the rest of the story, you'll realize that the Deus ex machina plenty wella

All this Epistle ain't necessary..A movie about a school for Witches and Wizards and you are doing mental gymnastics why this and that happened? Might as well question every fantasy movie in history? and all concerns were duly explained if you paid attention so just rest abeg....

Gmajor:
I actually think it's the worst from a story telling perspective.
It's enjoyable oh. But the instant you think about it, you'll realize that there is too many Deus Ex Machina's in it

I frankly quite disagree, it had one of the best storytelling in the entire franchise and your theory of "Deus Ex Machina" is flawed cuz it's purely a fantasy flick. If the story was bad and too many "Deus Ex Machina" moment in it, what then did you now find enjoyable in it?

alexistaiwo:
Harry Potter and the secret Chambers

Fell short of the standards set by the first but not too bad, quite enjoyable.

Let's hope the three part is a bit better.

On to the next one!

Chambers of secret is easily the best in the entire franchise, if for anything it topped the quality of part 1....imo.

solostar1:
Movies with IMDb rating of 9 and above...

Doctor Who The Day of the Doctor (2013)

The Shawshank Redemption
(1994)

The Godfather - Part 1 (1972)

The Godfather - Part 2 (1974)

Avengers - Endgame (2019)

The Dark Knight (2008)

Who gave "Avengers- Endgame a 9? Or you just rounded 8.4 to 9? It's still mathematically impossible.

AkwaIbomMan:
wow how did you come across this?
It's like Marvel Cinematic Universe had a premonition of this year's countless deaths and even Chadwick Boseman's death that's why he was also erased into annihilation when Thanos snapped his fingers
His Avengers colleague has poured out tributes below.
Take note of Mark Ruffalo's posts in the first screenshot
Cc oyaskii Nickshrapnel abduleez1 blingxx

It's actually sickening how this year has turned out. Though he was here for a short time but his impact was felt even beyond movies. Saw a pic of him earlier this year which he lost so much weight, he was bullied and clowned for weight loss that he had to turn off comments on his I.G. he will be forever missed...Rest on King!.

AkwaIbomMan:
Marvel Mourns.
we will all miss Chadwick Boseman.

Just waking up to seeing this so so sad man..He literally took on the iconic role as "Black Panther" while fighting Stage IV cancer, a hero in my eyes...Sleep well King!

abduleez1:
Lol, I think say na only me notice...
Her performance outside GOT haven't been great for me... Although I haven't watched most of her filmography except GOT and X-Men movies. Seems GOT wrote very good and easy character for her to portray, doesn't seem to have much range.

Which other films where she in??

Her filmography is short and are mostly low budget crap movies except Dark Phoenix which was big budget but medicore. The only of her movie that remotely made any sense was one spy movie like that and that was down to Samuel L Jackson and Jessica Alba been in the cast.

armadeo:
It's just one of those movies I'll have to see. Despite how dark phoenix made me want to puke.

Sophie Turner was dead in that movie.

The woman who acted as Phoenix in last stand was better.

Sophie Turner isn't a very good actress so i wonder how she bagged the role. All her flicks apart from GOT has been medicore.

Sitting this one out Chief till the reviews at least improves.

Stonecoldstare1:
All Netflix originals

Like only one movie on here really banged..The Netflix and trashy movie combo is too elite.

armadeo:
Another cliche movie with poor CGI.

Meanwhile at last at long last, after rewrites and reshoots and re.everything and postponement upon postponement

The new mutants has been released today.

Bruh..I am totally done with the X-Men Franchise after Dark Phoenix plus this is currently in the mud at 20% on Rotten tomatoes. Na to avoid am.

DieRich5:
yeah...............wat about dark am thinking of downloading it

lmaoo...Dark is good but before you start watching get these things by your side..PN Okeke New School Physics, Albert Einstein's theory of relativity and one bag of cold water cuz meehnnn

AkwaIbomMan:
that train to busan is it a horror movie?

Zombies was involved so maybe Horror issh but if you see any movie named "Pennisula" masquerading as a sequel to "Train to Busan"... flee

DieRich5:
anybody here watching big mouth

when of the very best animation on NETFLIX with 3 fresh seasons. BLM has interfered with the upcoming season.

AbdulSleeky:
Nice list.

I have watched all these movies. Very good

Bratking:
Only 3 good movies in this list.

Well. like i said they are not necessary over the top good or "the best" but they are a decent watch. Heart stopping action movies with grit and good plot are a dying breed. I'm sure the op had recent action movies in mind and these are the recent ones i have seen that are manageble except you want to me to dive into the 80's and 90's and start mentioning Above the Law or Delta Force Franchise?

Geofavor:
Please,. Movie gurus.

Kindly recommend the best action movies to watch at the moment and where to download them.

Thank you

Oyaskii mobeyboyz bobby95 stonecoldstare1

Wouldn't necessarily call these movies the "best action" movies as action movies recently have been below par but these are a decent watch

Anna
6 underground
Extraction
The Old guard
21 Bridges
Birds of Prey
John Wick (Trilogy)
Terminator Dark Fate
Angel has fallen
IP Man
Hobbs and Shaw

abduleez1:
What movie did she win an Oscar?? Best Actress or Best Supporting?

She won "Best Supporting Actress" for "Fences" (2016). Absolute gem of a movie with Denzel Washington and her as lead. Stay clear if you don't enjoy Dramas tho.

abduleez1:
You don't mean it!!
Jamie Foxx was in Amazing Spiderman 2??

I gotta go find time to watch this then.

I downloaded Spiderman 3, the one with Venom but didn't watch it till I lost it. Will find time for it soon.

Spiderman 1-3 (Toby Maguire) were very good, you will enjoy them.

Gmajor:
The Amazing Spiderman 2

So I just watched this movie for the first time today.
Even though it's not as good as the recent Marvel Spiderman movies story wise, the CGI is way better than Marvels Spiderman.

I remember seeing Homecoming and the web swings were so fake and uninspired.

That being said, this movie is a mess.

The Jamie Foxx's CGI was so cringe...yep the movie was a mess but was better than the first installment.

Nickshrapnel:
Rogue 4/10

Very boring

Megan fox is a terrible actress that's why she's overlooked these days. Her been in any recent flick is already a red flag not to see that flick...Fine face tho but make no mistake she is a very lousy actress.

vee is sure glad her period came after that scare because she keeps talking about it every 5 mins.

Thuna:
Power book II , September 6 is the day
....

As if the Finale of Power wasn't bad enough, They should give this series a rest. it has served it's purpose.

abduleez1:
Why you no give am HBOMax??

lol I no know location of the person because HBO Max dey limited locations for now

Puya:
Thanks for the response

Aside the VPN, cos I don’t know how that works
The others are they free??

Nope, They all need a Sub to work. You can try "Popcornflix" on the app store that one is free i think.

Puya:
Apart from Netflix, what other site can one stream movies on iPhone please ??

Apple Tv, Show Max, Amazon Prime and Disney + although you might need VPN for the latter two depending on your location.

johnyace:
I really felt emotional while watching the ZS Justice League trailer

The "Hallelujah" rendition brought all the emotions.

Raaaaaar! #TheBatman

New Wonder Woman Trailer.

Impressive af!...The DC event has been so lit so far.

Liposure:
imdb user ratings/reviews is the best thing to ever happen to hollywood

Yes...but some users are also crack heads. everybody has personal agenda, Feminist, Misogynist, The alphabet people etc...so depending on the particular movie, personal agendas might cloud their reviews so my best bet is go ahead and see what ever movie you want to see as it appeals to you.

VerifiedStalin:
I always check RT and IMDb ratings before watching anything. Any movie rated less than average is perpetually ignored. Data is expensive.

Tenet on 79% is looking good. I hope it holds out.

it was 83% yesterday tho, meaning the ratings are dropping. Seems the critics have a personal agenda against Nolan as some of the criticism are plain silly so it's better to follow IMDB users ratings on this one or better still go ahead and see the Movie without paying attention to ratings beacuse Christopher Nolan has never been known for failure, there's always a charm with his flick be it the plot, the idea, the story style etc, i for one didn't particularly like Dunkirk's plot but the cinematography was so so good.

toluxe0075:
If you check the guy's movie reviews on rotten tomatoes, you will see that the guy is one mumu with ridiculous movie reviews. Imagine calling Nolan's movie humourless. Am I going to see Nolan's movie to laugh? Unless his use of "humourless" has an undertone meaning that I'm not ready to understand, calling a Nolan's movie humourless is trigger that he doesn't know what he is doing.

Omo...i read the full article..it was more of a personal vandetta than a review..e b like say Christopher Nolan Kolobi the guy babe before...
