abduleez1:Antyspamy wanted to keep me away from talking about this banger of a show, but i pass am 😩😩
|
abduleez1:I was at my wits end with medical shows when i was saw the trailer for this, because they had become all too formulaic and i was so sure i wasn't going to see it, but i reluctantly indulged in it, and it totally blew me away. The style is niche, like 24, and it added a kind of tense and emotional rollercoaster that just sucks you in, immediately you finish that first hour. The characters did a perfect job, to deliver a not so new "flavour" in the most unique way possible. And did you notice the deliberate sound design (or lack of it). Scores and songs are like the bedrock of medical dramas, they are like a guide for the different range of emotions, but this show's deciding not to use score or song cues, was a master stroke in hindsight. The scores were replaced by actual EKG sounds, sounds from patients expressing joy, sadness and everything in between, making the whole experience of the show really feel, like one very long shift in the ER. Medics irl praised the show as one of the best depictions of what an actual ER looks like. And like a proper show, like we used to get in yester years, the show returns for another season next January, exactly a year from the last season....and i am already seated. Top shelf show tbh.🎉 |
DieRich5:The reviews on this movie that i have seen so far, it's either very good or very very bad, zero in betweens...so who come dey lie?? 😭😭 |
Saturnalia:Hey man...I can lie to you, on just about anything, but i can never lie to you about movies.. I remember our discourse about the flick some days back, and how you felt Leonardo diCaprio didn't pull his weight, and i was speaking without the context of seeing the film then... Now that i have seen it, I think Leonardo diCaprio did try to make the very best of what was a poorly written script tbh. The film put agenda first and foremost before anything, and didn't care for any lasting impact, it was just desperately trying to cling on to the current woke thing. It has absolutely zero replay value in my opinion. |
pu7pl3: abduleez1:Sorry i forgot to add it's my POV. But i think we have established here that "Oscars Best Picture ≠ Good film", i mean Anora (2024) was best picture last year, but that's even beside the point. I found "One Battle After Another (2025)" to be heavily pretentious and a tad silly tbh. The storyline looked alright but the execution was bottom tier, it struggled to be either a serious movie or a satire and spectacularly failing at both in the end. I didn't care for any of the characters because they didn't actually give me anything to care for, Benicio del Toro 4 minutes cameo was perhaps the only good thing about the whole thing. They had a star power like Leonardo diCaprio and they under utilized him, he was basically gone after the first arc of the flick, and relegated to background noise in the 2nd and 3rd arc, meanwhile his face was plastered in all the posters of the flick, only to introduce his "mixed race daughter" and her band of misfits as the star of the show...how misleading and how convenient... Was it an okay film? ehn maybe, the best picture shouts are stemming from the perceived subject matter of the film, and how it ties with current events, with the ICE issh and all, it's like a political manifesto, a middle finger to the right if you will, but the actual film is a blubbering mess tbh, and i have not sonner deleted a film, like I did this, after seeing it. If it's best picture shouts gets louder than this, best believe, i might start an hate campaign in the scale of Emilia Perèz 👍🏿 |
abduleez1:Some films na suspect there sha, but generally he sabi ball normal 👍🏿 |
pu7pl3:I think it's a stereotype that they have ran with for years, and our actors and actresses from this part that have had roles in Hollywood prod, have failed to correct when they hand them these scripts. Stella Damasus acted as an Ibo mother in Netflix's Mo (2024) S2, with an heavily igbo accented English that pissed me off, because she actually sounds nothing like that, and she gave an interview where she said, "these are the things we do for the love of the game", Ma, No, you can actually correct them!. The idea is that, they really want us in their productions, for our "Nigerianess" if that makes sense, which includes that weird accents, which of course we are much more than that. This is one of the reasons i hated BoB ❤️ Abishola, and perhaps it's the only Chuck Lorre sitcom i hated, people of Nigerian decent who normally speaks clear English was made to use that weird out accent. For context. Olu Jacobs was acting in British sitcoms in the 70s, and speaking impeccable English and it was all fine...makes you wonder. |
armadeo:whodunnit movies... you've seen one, you've seen them all ....the mystery ain't even mystering tbh..I tapped out from this one, since the first part...they are just milking it now. Yeah, i will be having my meal, elsewhere 👍🏿
|
abduleez1:lmaooo... have we seen way too many movies?? Is our sub conscious so fried that every movie out of Hollywood these days, feels like a variations of many others before it? This can't certainly be the "mystery movie", Steven Spielberg has been teasing for a while cuz I watched this trailer and felt absolutely nothing because what the actual hell is this generic garbage??😭😭. |
samistry:Unreal ball knowledge my good sir! 😩👍🏿 I saw Sentimental Value (2025), off this list some days ago, and i instantly believed movies again, not those slops, Hollywood has been constantly feeding me since January 😭. So i am out here, chasing down the others on the list 🤸🏿♂️🤸🏿♂️😁

abduleez1:Hearing it was his son that topped him and his wife...such a sad turn of events 😔 |

Sentimental Value. (2025) Everyone's mad at dad, huh? There were three films I wagered would be my best of the year: Hamnet (2025), No Other Choice (2025), and this. After seeing Sentimental Value, I think I might have wagered right, because by the end, I just knew that if every movie made me feel like this, I wouldn’t complain so much about how badly films have gotten these days. The Joachim Trier and Renate Reinsve combo is always magic, and after the brilliant The Worst Person in the World (2021), this slightly edges it and that says a lot about how good this is. Gustav Borg is a once-celebrated filmmaker who leaves his wife and two young daughters after a bitter divorce to chase his career. Years later, after his ex-wife’s death and as his relevance fades in a streaming-dominated industry, Gustav returns with one last script, hoping to matter again. He offers the lead role to his eldest daughter, Nora, now an actress, as a way to reconnect. But what he sees as an olive branch forces them both to confront the hurt of his absence and the cost of his choices. The film explores so many themes in its two-hour runtime, some of which feel almost personal, abandonment, resentment. I honestly haven’t felt this range of emotion while watching a film in a long time. It is a typical arthouse movie, slow-paced, sometimes lagging, but it unravels beautifully. Renate Reinsve deserves praise, she’s simply excellent, but the real star of the show is Stellan Skarsgård as Gustav Borg. Honestly, what can this man not do? After giving one of my favourite performances of the year as Luthen Rael in Andor (2022) S2, this felt like the icing on the cake. His portrayal of a selfish father who tries to use art as a tool for reconciliation, rather than simply apologising for lost time, is painfully spot-on. I’ll be seeing you at the Oscars, good sir.!! This is a top-shelf film, absolutely brilliant in its handling of the subject matter. It might just be my film of the year, at least until I see the other two. Not an easy recommend, as it’s very much an arthouse film and not for everyone but if it clicks for you, it’s a fantastic watch! ✌🏿 9/10

Achilles100:If you think BB was slow paced and you didn't like it, then this is 10x worse, so don't see it just because the rave is unbelievable, i can guarantee, you'd be disappointed 👍🏿 |
My GOAT might tbe he only cinema autuer left in a few years time i fear...... His stance is logical, if it was 5 years ago, but with Netflix potential acquisition of WB, i have had to ponder that perhaps, streaming is the future of cinema as we know it, and "The Critical Drinker's" latest piece epitomises this fact, so so better. Because the truth of the matter, is that with the stress and financial constraints it takes to go to cinemas these days, like 90% of the movies, aren't worth this stress tbh, like who want to genuinely jump through hoops to go see bottom tier flicks "Tron: Ares" (2025) at the cinema, that would leave you wondering what kind of financial mistake you just made? When in a month time, it would come on VOD anyways. 😩 There is a reason why Streaming giants are making so much money these days, enough to bully old studio houses into hostile takeovers. The people just favour the streaming model more. People can easily replicate cinema level entertainment at home no joke, get a 4K TV and Dolby Atmos Soundbar at the minimum, pay 8k to 9k to Netflix for Full HD, sub and stream whatever you want... rather than spending that sum on a single movies, that you are not even sure, will be good. So my take is that, Cinematic releases should be reserved for the highest end flicks, that you absolutely have to see on the biggest screen, the other slops should go directly to steaming 👍🏿

BlackManta:Copyright strikes is already taking down most of the videos but i got to it before it disappears completely lmaoo.. Blurry as shít but i saw enough to know that this movie is going to feed families...so LFG!! 😭
|
zoroby:Bro...The yt people in that show might actually be worse than pennywise ngl .. despicable lot and Ingrid might just be the worst of the lot 😭. We still have one episode to go, pennywise might still have something cooking for her, oh i really wish |
joseph1832:😂😂 very soon because i am now learning to carefully choose my battles. |
Saturnalia:I saw a plethora of movies drop on VOD yesterday including this, and i wasn't even moved because i knew more than half of it, would be a total waste of my time. The dire state of movies we are in 😔 |
IT: Welcome to Derry S1 E07 (2025). Ingrid: You are not my Papa, what have you done with him? Pennywise: I ate him!. Omoo...i wasn't really familiar, and for that, Astaghfirullah! because this Ep 7 did wonders to me that I was out of my chair applauding 👏🏿👏🏿😭. Picked up from the end of the last episode, that teased a racial carnage that has been quite frankly, steaming since Ep 1, and what a carnage it was. In the midst of them racist white folks showing them black folks, who is boss, Pennywise just shows up from nowhere, and was like "Hey, I have no dog in this fight, but i am here to have a meal, either way"..... just peak stuff 😩. seated like mad for the finale next week 🤲🏿

Illusioneffect:If WB holds out for longer, i bet these 2 moronic companies drive themselves to a $500b bid cuz what is even this amount? 😩. I do hope none gets it (which is less likely tbh) , and Netflix is forced to pay that breakage fee to WB for wasting everybody's time. |
samistry:😂😭😭😭...Small Joy wey my Golden Girls give me this year, make i use am hold body fam...at least if na only that one 2025 give me, amidst the sea of slops fgs 😩 |
DieRich5:Hype una... It's ridiculously good and probably one of the best animation to come out in the last few years, giving, Netflix went on an incredible marketing campaign to soft launch it, but I think the animation duly matched it, in quality, because what's there not to like really, good enough story? Quality Soundtracks? Relatable Characters, the whole fking lot tbh!, they even released a digital art book for the nerds, which i absolutely loved. Even "The Critical Drinker", who seems to hate every media out these days, loved this. If they mistakenly do a cinema wide release this December, best believe, Filmhouse will be seeing my money 😭😭

"Devil In Disguise: John Wayne Gacy" S1 (2025) "This boy is d*ad. He’s de*d. He’s in a river." — Gacy, Dec. 20th 1978. I was stuck in a long commute last month and decided to read up on John Wayne Gacy, one of the most disturbing yet fascinating serial killer profiles I’ve ever come across. A few days later I stumbled on the trailer for this series on YT, and instantly knew it would be good. The show tells the story of Gacy, but not just through the lens of his crimes. It focuses on his victims, the emotional devastation their families went through, and the investigation and trial that eventually nailed him for the murder of 33 young boys. It opens with the disappearance of his final victim, Rob Piest, before Gacy's capture. From there, the episodes follow a non-linear structure to really show the depth of his depravity and the failures of authorities who couldn’t spot a killer hiding in plain sight. I mean this was “Pogo the Clown,” an upstanding community man who entertained children, he even had a photo with Nancy Reagan. But behind it all was a deeply sick, calculating predator. Gacy was so prolific his crimes reshaped how missing persons cases were handled. And while defense lawyers predictably pushed the insanity angle, nothing about his killings was chaotic. He planned, targeted, killed, and buried his victims with chilling precision, because, in his own words, “he owned the bodies.” This was not insanity. This was pure, deliberate evil. Michael Chernus delivers one of the best performances I’ve seen in a limited series in a long time. I never expected this level of intensity from someone mostly known for bit part roles in OITNB and Severance. But here, he absolutely disappears into Gacy, the nonchalant, unremorseful demeanor was 100% spot on. There’s a standout moment that fully captures just how good the performance was, where a detective asks, “I think there are more than 33, John. Are there more bodies out there?” And Gacy gives a cold stare and replies, “Up to you to find out.”.. Cold. Absolutely cold!. This is easily one of my favourite shows of the year, and as an avid follower of this lore, one of best serial killer dramatization in years. easy easy recommend that's if you can stomach the subject matter 👍🏿 8/10

abduleez1:I think most people rift, which is basically mine too tbf, is not who gets WB, as Paramount and Netflix are both cut from the same cloth rather how WB of all media brand with a rich library of content of critically acclaimed movies, series etc spanning a just over a century, gets to a stage where it has to get eating up and isn't self sufficient, so bad, a "new age" media is able to just pass through a little wiggle to acquire thier entire library!. The sheer number of great IPs in the control of a vile outlet such as Netflix, sets a dangerous precedent, heck it even borders on a crazy monopolistic tendency. WB has side deals in so many regions and this acquisition affects it all, for instance, Showmax (in fierce competition for a share of the market with Netflix in Sub Saharan Africa), became a force because they were able to acquire WB/HBO content, with this acquisition that certainly ends..Are you seeing problems everywhere?. Forget all the talk, that Netflix is assuring that things are going to stay the same, these a sweet talk big corps say, when they make deals like this, they acquire the brand, and slowly strip the brand and morph it into thier own ideas....and the most obvious concern, Cinema as we know it might be actually dead. You know how WB meticulously produces movie to ensure a certain quality, a certain pancea, a certain flair....i am so sorry, Netflix doesn't have this pull 😒 and so i am sorry, the concerns of people about this deal, are very valid. I feel many people are panicking now..... I'll just wait and see how things cool down and pan out.The fact is, Netflix isn't even paying $82B liquid, it's much more complex than that, is more like they are paying the WB shareholders at bottom market price for their share, and offering them shares at Netflix, can't get into too much details but isn't a straightforward payment of $82B, $82B is just the value of WB as an enterprise plus it's current debt, in today's market. Yeah, WB have been testing this 45 days windows to HBO max releases for their films for a while, but Netflix a predominantly VOD company aren't going to prioritize cinema releases at all. Again my major concern for emphasis, it sets a dangerous precedent, since COVID, the streaming giants have become unbelievably liquid because this era favours thier model of media distribution more, so with this deal, other streaming giants will be more empowered to eat up more of the Big 5 media conglomerate, driving prices for these streaming services even higher, and putting legacy pop cultural IPs, in their filthy dirty hands! 😩 |
samistry:They are going to ruin all of WB's rich IP. The money involved is huge but the thought of this rich media legacy being in the direct creative control of filth such as Netflix, who has an uncanny history of not handling great Ips well, doesn't bode well...
|
But then again... Dune: Part Three (2026) is gonna go straight to VOD it seems..👀.... Yeahh, I'm totally listening now 💪🏿
|
This shît is real...The industry is basically cooked 😔
