Explain what you mean by'the contest should just be a mere formality'? Are you suggesting that your opponents shouldn't take the election serious enough for you to win or what? Actions have consequences. When you were shouting 'I am Atikulated' and 'Back to Daura' in 2019, did you know that 2023 is your turn or the gods just revealed it to you? Will 2023 still be your turn,if your preferred candidate, Atiku had won 2019 election? Ezemust: in 99 the whole nigeria know it was south west turn.ekwueme contesting the primary with obj was a mere formarlity.obj major oponent was olu falae.everybody agread and peace reigned.in 2007 it was turn of the north.many pple contested but the all abide to their agreement.the igbos have been queit coz we know our real turn is 2023.we will contest with other nigerians and just like 99 and 007 the contest should just be a mere formality.other wise nigeria is playing a shady game |

Try to convince Atiku to step down for Peter Obi so an Igbo candidate can get the PDP ticket and contest. But if you are all shouting 'I am Atikulated' in Feb 2023 and now shouting Biafra or death in March, 2023 because you didn't clinch the vice presidential post you bargained for, nobody will take you serious. UdechiHD: This is the truth that a lot of people are joking with. 2023 will make or mar the country. The unity of this country is in the hands of the Igbos. |

You are right but a good number and activities of aspirants from the S/East will it difficult to ignore the region in whatever political calculation the parties take. However, going by the feelings from the PDP, the party will not give It's ticket to the S/East. Gov Wike's interview on Channel T.V Sunrise programme on Sept 04, 2020 was a pointer to that. EagleNest: Yes, but the direction the party wants to tow is very important as regards aspirants and votes. This will save time and money. Such an early clarity will help alot! |

Politics › Re: ADEGOKE ADELABU PENKELEMESI: A dazzling Politician of his Time by oyatz(m): 3:11pm On Aug 04, 2020 |
There are some inaccuracies in this Vanguard Story. 1) Zik was the leader of the NCNC and was elected as a member of Western Regional House of Assembly. Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and NOT Adegoke Adelabu was to be the Premier of Western Region if NCNC had had the majority members in the House because he was the leader of NCNC. In the parliamentary system, the leader of the party that has the majority members becomes the leader of Government while the leader of the party with the next majority becomes the leader of opposition. Zik the President-General of the NCNC wasn't going to be a floor member in the House while Adelabu, the Western Secretary of the party becomes the Premier. That wasn't what really happened. 2) Key players and eye witnesses in the events in the Western Regional House of Assembly , including Adegoke Adelabu himself ,Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Anthony Enahoro and many others have written books about the events to correct wrong perceptions and dangerous assumptions. Please read 'Africa in Ebullition' by Adegoke Adelabu, 'Who won the 1952 Western Regional Election' by Ayo Adebanjo to have a balanced view of the events from both sides of the divide. 3) Hon Adegoke Adelabu was a great and beloved politician in Ibadan, however he seems to have some dictatorial tendencies. He was the Vice Chairman, the most vocal and charismatic member of the 7 honourables elected on the Platform of THE IBADAN PEOPLE'S PARTY, the local party in Ibadan that appealed to the grassroot but nevertheless was NEVER a branch of the NCNC. He had a right to join the NCNC in the House of Assembly but it was wrong to assume that other members of this lbadan People's Party have no right to join other parties or they must follow him to the NCNC. Other legislators elected on the platforms of small parties/Town Unions like Ondo Improvement League, Edo Tax Payers Association, Etu'Edo etc joined either the NCNC or the Action Group without anybody calling them backstabbers/betrayers like Adelabu is trying to portray. Dedetwo: I have equally bookmarked the above paragraphs. These were perfidious indictments of cradle of tribal politics in Nigeria. I say shame to the initiators. This is totally against the backdrop of what certain characters would want us to believe. I knew Adelabu was to become the first Premier of western region not Zik. I had preached this sermon on this forum but to no avail |

Instead of Obaseki to use brain, he was using muscles. He ought to have learnt from Lucky Igbinedion and Babatunde Fashola on how they were able to managed their Godfathers without major crisis. His fight with Comrade Adams Oshiomole could have been avoided if he had been a little bit more humble and patient. Obaseki's decamping into the PDP few days to the party's primaries and hijacking the Governorship ticket of the PDP have grave political consequences. There are so many people in the PDP that aren't happy with that move and they will easily betray Obaseki at the polls. . .just watch out. MakindeSam: With the way things are progressing, Obaseki might lose the election. I won't be happy about it though. |

When campaigns of hatred against a particular candidate gets to a certain stage, it becomes counter-productive because it will eventually leads to sympathy votes/support for that candidate.
Many people that would have been otherwise neutral will become sensitized and perceive the campaign of calumny as unnecessary witch hunting, close ranks and rally round the candidate. |

This is your personal opinion. The APC delegates will determine who can win. mamaafrik: The smartest move by Tinubu is to aid Oshibajo to be fielded by APC,he can't win a SE,SS,SW and NC vote like oshibajo. If i were him i will reachout the the other southern tribes for a speaker or senate Presidency and truthful promise to restructure the country and some other confab report moves like change of Constitution and resources control, quota system removal. Tinubu should know he can sell like Yemi Oshibajo who can get a SW 80-90℅,SE-50-65℅ vote,SS-55-70 vote,NC-57-65℅ vote,NE50-60℅,NE-52-60℅ depending on who pdp chooses but i can't see any strong contender from the North who can beat Oshibajo has down in the whole South and North central. Tinubu can't win the South not to talk of the not,his religion, antecendent, personality is a disadvantage to the south and if he is not greedt and short sighted ,he should know,Awolowo was even more Popular and charismatic then If Tinubu comes out,the north will cling to Power again in 2023. But i hope all southern man and Christian Northerner are collecting their PVc and getting ready to vote. |

In the 1999 presidential primaries of the PDP, the following politicians contested for the ticket; Olusegun Obasanjo Alex Ekwueme Jim Nwobodo Don Etiebet Graham Douglas Philip Asiodu. EagleNest: Calm down! We want Nigeria to work for everyone. Like it has been done before, it will be good for the future of Nigeria, to support Igbo to lead one or two tenure (depending on performance). That way we'll heal wounds. Igbo by itself alone cannot win, just like other ethnic group. I think if we all reason well, we can get everyone on board and move Nigeria forward. |

Are you the PA to God on Tinubu's destiny? NSK4U: If another opportunity presents itself, Igbos will still insult the North especially if they are not getting it right, you think Igbos have begging as trademark like Yorubas? NO, WE DON'T and that's why Ngige made it clear to Tinubu and his ilks........
so mark my words for it, Tinubu will never be NIGERIA'S PRESIDENT come 2023 but if he tries anything stubborn like Abiola and Awolowo did, their unfortunate fate will be a child's play for him.
and mind you, we don't hate him for anything, after all no Igbo looks up to him for crumbs like Yorubas who beg him and his wife daily for bread and garri, he is simply not fit to be in the seat of Nigeria's president yet, there are better men from the South East and North than him. |
