Tinubu will not be president. Being president is not about knowing how to play politics, there has to be a general acceptability of your person. The political class themselves (majority of them) do not want him, the masses love him but do not want him as president.

You are partly correct, however the original inhabitants of the area now called Ibadan were Egba people who were displaced southwards to Abeokuta by influx of mostly Oyo people following the collapse of the Oyo Empire.

Ibadan, Ijaiye and the New Oyo (Oyo Alaafin) struggled with each other to step into the shoe of the Old Oyo as the undisputable Capital of the rump of the Empire in which Ibadan (supported by the New Oyo) ultimately triumphed after the disatrous Ibadan-Ijaiye war in the 1860s.

He represented Ibadan N/East in the Federal House of Reps but he is originally from Yewa area of Ogun State.

Many prominent Ibadan families have their roots in other towns like Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ile-Ife, Ijebu, Iwo and Owu etc.

Before 1950, many Yoruba families move freely from one town to another.

Emphasis on State of Origin as a prerequisite for elective or administrative positions is a very recent phenomenon.

Hon Babs Oduyoye (Ibadan SW) and the late Hon Temitope 'Shuga' are from Ogun State.

Sen Fatai Buhari (APC, Oyo North) is a descendant of a Fulani settler in Ogbomoso.

The immediate past Minister of Health represented Osun State in the Federal Executive Council eventhough his father was an Ekiti man who went to settle in Ilesha about 70 years ago. Examples abound but you may not know because you don't know about the politics of these States.

Some of the lesser known politicians were only born in the States they practice politics but their fathers or grandfathers are from neighbouring States.

Awori people owned Eko until Yari.ba arrived. In the long run, I bet you Ndigbo will not suffer the consequences of idiocy displayed in southern Nigeria by certain airheads. I never thought that northern and southwestern Nigerian elites will make the Efik peeps in Bakassi cheaply expendable. Bakassi, as much as Nigeria\Biafra war, defines Nigeria for me.

Afizeres, Anabuta, Angas and Berom are small related tribes in Plateau State and they don't claim each other.

Isoko and Urbobos are indistinguishable in my own views but they always claim to be different tribes.

Efik, Ibibio and Annag look the same to me but one of my former employees from Akwa-Ibom said they are related but there is no universal name that combine them so every tribe decide to be on it's own.

What are the advantages or disadvantages of these?

I was listening to Delta State News broadcast in local languages but to my surprise, five or six of those languages are plain dialetes of their parent Igbo Language.

Imagine your language and culture being absent from languages acceptable to tech-world. No translator, no recognition and no propagation. It's gone.

When I was growing up in Lagos, we used to call anybody after Bini 'Omo Igbo' until I got to university and did NYSC that I started seeing these people telling me they aren't Igbos. One of them was my friend and classmate named P**l Omachi.

One day, i made a remark about him as an Igbo guy and I was surprised when he said he is from Benue and not an Igboman as we all assume.


In the North, they regard any southerner that's not Yoruba as Igbo , including Dr Goodluck Jonathan.

For instance what are the merits and demerits of Ikwerres accepting to be Igbo or be different ethnic group?
