Ekealterego: It was part of the scheme, why rewrite the history of people whose brothers were still recovering from a war?
This is transferred aggression also.
Some just instructed me to do a quick research and analysis of Igbo hate on Ijaw run groups... Men all the key hit searches on Igbo returned with nauseating pure hate, lies and propaganda against Ndi-Igbo. Out of the results, 97% were just pure biles.
Academic reviews of published books are like suggestions to improve the books in subsequent editions.
This review complained the author ought to have expanded his sources of information instead of limiting it to Prof Fombo's work. It also complained of inadequate referencing of the pictures, which is expected of an academic publication.
It did NOT point out any falsification of earlier published works. It didn't mention anything about Igbo at all, let alone whether it's for or against Igbo, so why crying wolf when none exist?
Ekealterego: So, in the full article his University and departments were clearly written. Stop yapping lies.
Abeg, start another one .
You see all these years you people have written utter rubbish against us lying and disparaging our names. It will surely be an eye for an eye... Trust Igbos, we have the scholars, money and human resources to get it done. It's just that we have never looked in your direction.
How exactly does this review concern or even mentioned 'Igbo'?
The younger generation of Igbos online, radicalized by IPOB propaganda keep attracting unavoidable enmities from all their neighbours.
Neither the original book nor the review is remotely about Igbo.
Putindbutt: Stop lying. The accounts are readily verifiable from the original manuscript by Prof. fombo in the university library. The reviewer only expected Alagoa to have worked with a lot more materials.
SlayerForever didn't understand the review at all. He is just propogating his pre-conceived notions.
Alabo7978: I am a writer and I know about negative reviews, that is just a review. Lol, even the mighty Jk rowling of Harry Potter, E.L James of fifty shades of grey, Steven king himself and all other published writers from time to time get negative reviews from "mare readers" I laughed hard when I saw your circus celebrating a negative review from Jstor. This shows you all are the dumbest people I have ever come across (I swear I'm not joking)
Oga these guys are kids with poor levels of education. They don't understand what you are saying.
They don't even know the difference between University of Ibadan and University of Ibadan Press. One uninformed kid is saying Fulbright Scholarstic recognition is a mushroom recognition
princeade86: Abi. Even as a Yoruba, I can't vote tinubu. He will turn Nigeria to Afghanistan with thugs and put thugs to every affairs of d nation. I will rather vote osibanjo ahead of him. Even thief saraki ahead of him. Nothing to offer Nigeria by tinubu.
Ezemust: nigeria dont want igbos to leave...poliicians who dont want the country divided are gearing up to make sure an igbo man is electet.just like the did in 99 with the yoruba.but a certain greedy man who do not care about yoruba nation cus he claim to love one nigeria is going about ploting the division of the country with his greed
A citizen exercising his Constitutional right to contest for an election is not greed and has nothing to do with division of the country.
The Igbos should rally round Atiku because he has promised to do only one term and he will hand over to Peter Obi in 2027.
Ezemust: Spot on....as much as i like nigeria and want it to be great, denying igbos the presidency in 2023 will be the BEGINING OF THE THE END of this contraption.
all the grand players of nigeria politics:from ibb to obj, abdulsalam to gowon, danjuma and buhari himself knows that 2023 is igbos time in the interest of peace and justice, but a certain greedy tinubu is less concern about nigeria unity but his personal interest instead....WE ARE WATCHING
Start supporting Atiku, he is the only candidate that can create Biafra
Ekealterego: You see this particular energy you have is just exactly the same energy organisations like IPOB or even an average Igbo had. This shows in their national politics and how they align in issues.
Before Jonathan, the average Igbo thinks and believes that Ijaws were "brothers" who speak a different language. In fact, they view everyone from Rivers to Cross-Rivers as such, even some go as far as Idoma.
When you see national sentiments and concerns regarding fight for environments, minority rights, the oil spill or even killings etc, Igbos would usually be most vocal, which pits them against the other big two.
The last one I remember was the installation of Jonathan when Yaradua died, his first election and re-election. Normally, one can support a candidate, but you see the average Igbo supported Jonathan despite his performance. I remember how scary it was in Lagos, many people had to buy cutlass at home because of Jonathan.
During the Niger-Delta fight, Saro Wiwa etc.
Yes, I know there are Igbos in SS so the interest but you see most Igbo will not discuss for their own rights without saying "SE and SS"... in this caption, adding Ijaws to it.
Numerically, Ijaws alone cannot influence matters on behalf or against the Igbos in national politics or rights, they will have more to gain if they aligned with Yorubas.
While Igbos were doing this, the Ijaws were using that time to spread anti-Igbo sentiments any chance they get. This particular energy you see if new.
Apart from the wranglings on social media and the activities of secessionist groups, in reality Ijaw, Ignorance, Urhobo, Efik, Bini and even Yoruba get along well in real life.
However, the nature of co-existence in the present day Nigeria make tribal identies seems important for POLITICAL patronage. However, it should be noted that Ijaws seeking to promote Ijaw interests is not exactly the same thing as promoting anti-igbo interests
Outside of this, these ethnic groups have no problems with each other.
AdaNri1: Tomorrow if you bring Onyekachi or Chimezie who is the leading global economist, with PhD, and experience in leadership and bring Abdulateef or Nasir a primary school graduate, their people will still vote a clueless Nasir.
In the western world, people are elected based on their performance at previous offices, in Nigeria we elect based on tribe, religion and coke/malt bottle gifted.
And we wonder why it’s a sh!t hole that everyone is trying to escape
Okay, but how were T.A Orji, Gborugburu and Ikpeazu elected?
OfoIgbo: The point you made in this message is different from the general battle going on.
If Ijaws in nairaland were making this point you just made, the trajectory of the battle would have been different. I'm sure you noticed that most Ijaws on nairaland are making the point that Bonny indigenes were not Igbo. That Igbos only came into Ubani as slaves. So far, I and my fellow Igbos have debunked that, showing from records put together by neutral observers that not only were the slaves, mostly Igbos, we have shown from different records that the ruling families of Bonny, Kalabari and Opobo are of Igbo ancestry, and also that the Bonny indigenes themselves, are mainly of Igbo ancestry.
Now getting back to the point you just made, if Bonny and Opobo people now claim Ijaw identity, how come there is a concerted effort by Bayelsa organisations to force Ibani on the locals, and actively encouraging them not to speak Igbo?

What exactly is the difference between Ijaw and Igbo?
There many people we now regard as Igbos whose forefathers came from Ijaw villages and there are Ijaws today whose ancestors came from igbo villages.
Both the Ijaw and Igbo identities as we know them today were recently fabricated social groups created by the British Colonial Masters for the purpose of identifications largely based on perceived similarities in languages, culture and coextensive territories.
If a yorubaman emerges in APC which will now give PDP the confidence to ceed it to the North, Tambuwal will not emerge as PDP's candidate, which means Wike's ambition is dead.
How do you know that Tambuwal will not emerge as PDP's candidate?
By the way, Wike is scheming to be the Vice-presidential candidate irrespective of whoever emerge as the PDP's presidential candidate.
mrksquare: There is a precedent. Odili tried it and failed woefully inspite of the vast amount of money he used in watering his said ambition. Wike's case will not be an exception. Wike is not fit to be Vice President. We don't need an uncouth and unrefined fellow as Vice President.
Meanwhile I am from Rivers state. A civil servant with the Rivers state government. Since Wike assumption of office no civil servant has been promoted. Not to talk of filing the vacuum brought about by the daily retirement of existing civil servant. Wike is a calamity. A disaster. Don't be deceived by the myriads of project he is executing in Rivers state. It is a conduit pipe to siphone our commonwealth. In the fullness of time he will be held to account for his abysmal 8years tenure.
joyandfaith: Abiola did more than. Abiola won Tofa in kano. But those in their 20s would say otherwise and give excuses. Where are team Osinbajo self? They are speechless.
There's absolutely nothing wrong in a citizen aspiring to the highest office in his country.
If you don't like citizen Tinubu, why don't you join the presidential race yourself or start canvassing for Atiku/Obi or Tambuwal/Wike?
conductor20000: For not supporting a retired drug baron who put conduit pipe on Lagos state treasury as president?
Part of me really wants this Tinubu to be really president. If they told Katsina people that they will be protesting against insecurity and killings in their state while their own son is president, they wouldn't believe.
OfoIgbo: Their ancestors know more about their history than them.
Dakuku Peterside knows his heritage also
You are still making the same mistake.
Today, virtually Onitsha people identify as Igbos but there are many families whose ancestors came from Igala and Bini.
Similarly, the people of Sabongida Ora, Edo State identify themselves as Edo people but many families in the town traced their ancenstries to Yorubaland.
michelz: So have you conducted a referendum to determine who Bonny people say they are? In the case of Nigeria vs Cameroon, concerning Bakassi, though majority of the inhabitants claimed they were Nigerians, how did the judgement go?
As at today, which ethnic group do the people of Bonny and Opobo portray themselves to be?
a) Ijaw
b) Igbo
The fact that we are having this discussion at all but we are NOT debating whether Enugu or Mbaise is igbo point to certain facts.
Mstick: You registered on nairaland in 2010, that's 11 years ago and I guess you're in your late 30's or mid 40's yes?
Your agemates are the ones leading in developed countries heck even people in their 20's are councilors in the UK where your darling tinubu sat for months undergoing treatment but you don't mind putting your future in the hands of a man that has NO NEW IDEAS because of the crumbs they throw to you.
Electing innovative leaders will do you good trust me, you don't need to laugh at a politician's unfunny joke, you don't have to hang around their houses from morning till night, you don't need to support them even when it's glaring that they are wrong.
Bros, learn to be more democratic sir.
1) If you don't like Tinubu for whatever ever reason, try to respect the rights of those who do.
2) You are free to support anyone of the several other aspirants.
3) Competence is NOT by age. Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden are far older than Tinubu.
