Christianity Etc › Nigerian Pastors Who Hate Themselves by oyewolejos(op): 7:01pm On Dec 06, 2011 |
The bible cited that the pastors, the prophets, bishops and their likes are to be honoured and respected. Over time, people have even gone further by emulating them as they believe that this set of people are really the representatives of God here on Earth. Many worshippers have even turned their pastors to idols they regularly worship and their words hadve led so many into crime. But deep within them, even when they are made to face the music of their crimes, they believe they are justified before God. We will be looking at some of these supposed men of God who choose to ignore the doctrine of God on not allowing the sun to set with us having something against our brethren in our mind. Enjoy …
Pastor Dr. E H L Olusheye and Evangelist Dr. T O Obadare
The relationship between these two strong men of God was once very cordial; the two were once top officials of the first Nigerian pentecostal church, the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), a church formed in 1930 by world renowned evangelist, Prophet Joseph Ayodele Babalola, with the revival of that year popularly called the revival of 1930 among the Christian sphere. Olusheye was at a time the CAC General Superintendent while Obadare was the CAC General Evangelist. Crisis however started in the late 1980s and early 1990s over issues that had to do with leadership of the church: after the death of the then president of the church worldwide, Pastor Orangun, another pastor of the church who held a very important position in the church executive, in the person of Pastor Adegoroye, felt some people in the church executive were planning against him becoming the church new president, a position he’s until that time been occupying. This forced him to quickly return from the church annual pastors conference that year to his base in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, which is also the base of Obadare whose church, Agbala Itura and evangelism ministry, World Soul Winning Evangelistic Ministry (WOSEM), were alleged by Adegoroye to have been the reason they chose to drop him. The rest is well publicized.
This led to a gospel musician who is also a member of the church to sing of his disappointment on the issue. Though there have been many efforts at reconciling the warring pastors, which now boils down to Olusheye and Obadare, as other actors in the fracas which forced the church into factions, i.e. CAC Worldwide and CAC WOSEM, have since retired or dead, leaving Olusheye who is now the Worldwide president and Obadare, who still holds sway in Agbala Itura church in Akure and also still holds his monthly Koseunti programme under the umbrella of his WOSEM, which is an affiliation of the CAC church.
Bishop Mike Okonkwo & Bishop Lanre Obembe
The relationship between these two was once very cordial and this could be confirmed by the fact that when |Mike Okonkwo was the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Obembe was the Lagos State chairman of the same association. Okonkwo is the founder and Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelistic Mission (TREM) while Obembe is the founder and Bishop of El-Shaddai Bible Church, it is therefore surprising how the two allowed issues that had to do with monetary gain to put asunder the once very cordial relationship between them.
It all began in 2004 when Lanre Obembe had a business idea that would bring in some money into his pocket in form of a world-class revival featuring the Jewish-American revivalist, Benny Hinn, down to Nigeria for a supposed interdenominational revival. At the initial stage, when he informed Okonkwo who was then the National President of the PFN, Okonkwo was said to have given him the go-ahead, knowing it would be difficult to bring Benny Hinn who Okonkwo had at a time formed acquaintance with to Nigeria. But like a dogged marketer who would do anything to sell a service or business to a prospective buyer, Obembe was able to convince Benny Hinn on the need to visit Nigeria to the surprise of Okonkwo.
As it is the habit of the Jewish-American preacher, he donated the sum of $4 million to the cause of the three-day revival tagged Lagos Healing Crusade. It was when the money issue was mentioned that Bishop Okonkwo was said to have swung into action, claiming that the issue had become an issue of the PFN and other Christian bodies in the country and was therefore not a programme Lanre Obembe alone could handle. The ensuing argument was said to be responsible for the flop of the $4 million project. It was in the process of this that Obembe’s suspension and that of his church from PFN was announced by the Okonkwo-led National PFN. That really brought out the fire in Obembe, who accused Okonkwo and the PFN leadership of taking such step because he did not allow them take over his project.
Pastor Tunde Bakare & Bishop Oyedepo
Their relationship cannot really be said to be too cordial. While the founder of Latter Rain Christian Assembly can be said to be a very vocal person, the Presiding Bishop of Faith Tabernacle, or Winners Chapel as it is popularly called, can be said to be not too vocal about the ’s way of life. Tunde Bakare however brought out the fire in Oyedepo when he likened his worship to the occult; he was even at a time compared to the most questioned Nigerian pastor, T B Joshua. At a service in his Acme, Ogba Lagos church, Bakare condemned one of Oyedepo’s books; he even tore it on television. This elicited response from the followers of Oyedepo and it has further widened the gap between them. In the real sense of it, the relationship between the two has suffered greatly and no matter what they said after the incident, it is a known thing that cordiality of the relationship between the two may be over.
Pastor Tunde Bakare and Pastor Kumuyi
Pastor Tunde Bakare is known for his many scathing remarks against many known men of God in the country. He had at a time accused Pastor W F Kumuyi of Deeper Christian Life Ministry of depriving his congregation of what they need while living a life of luxury. He practically called the very gentle man of God a hypocrite. Though Pastor Kumuyi chose not to say anything, those in the know said the attitude may have blocked all means to ever having any relationship with the lawyer-turned-pastor even in future.
Pastor Chris Okotie and Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
This is the story of two Chris(es) who were once very close, also neighbours in Oregun area of Lagos where they practically own half the area. Oyakhilome whose growth was very fast is known to be fond of moving equipment needed to break ground for his church expansion through the land owned by Okotie. The once very close friends are now more like sworn enemies over Oyakhilome’s professed relationship with Pastor T B Joshua. Okotie who criticized T B Joshua who he said is using occult power to perform his miracles, felt bad when Oyakhilome who is also known for his ministry of miracles chose to be associated with Joshua, a situation that made Bakare label the two devilish. The ensuing animosity is yet to end.
Pastor Chris Okotie and Rev. Anslem Madubuiko
Pastor Chris Okotie of Household of God Church and Rev. Anslem Madubuko of Revival Assembly Church were once like five and six. Apart from the fact that the two attended the same University of Nigeria, Nsukka where the fire of their friendship was ignited, it is also on record that they were each other’s wedding best man. Their friendship we learnt even goes to the period Chris was a musician and Anslem then was a DJ and when Chris decided to start his Church, Anslem was at hand to give him a hand and in the process rose to become the Minister in charge of the healing ministry. The cause of their separation is still not known up till today but many felt it may because of the attention Anslem was attracting and the respect he started commanding among the congregation that forced Okotie to order him out of the church and asked him not to come back.
Pastor Chris Okotie and Pastor T B Joshua
It was his relationship with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome that led to the enmity between him and Pastor Okotie, so it is expected that the two will not be in any relationship. Pastor T B Joshua it was that was accused of using occult power to heal people in his Synagogue Church and Okotie was the whistle blower who addressed the press on his suspicion of Joshua. Though the issue has since then died down, those in the know confirm to us that there is a very cold wall between these two and they may not be too friendly towards one another should they meet in public.
Pastor T B Joshua and Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo
It will be right to address him as the most criticized pastor in Nigeria. Pastor T B Joshua, the founder and General Overseer of Synagogue Church of All Nations, has won himself many enemies in the Christian religious circle, one of which is the funky London-based Nigerian Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo. During Joshua’s issue with Okotie, Ashimolowo, who is the President of the Kingsway International Christian Church (KICC), was one of those who were of the opinion that Joshua is a messenger of devil. It was he who claimed that the white men who troop to his church were like those who had been walking for long in the desert only to see water. He concluded that they won’t bother if the water is clean or dirty and that in the case of Joshua, the water looks dirty. He concluded by saying he questions the power Joshua is using. Though it has been years since the incident happened, the two we learnt will not entertain a situation where they will be alone together.
Pastor Lazarus Muoka and Pastor A C Ohanebo
He commands huge followership among the people of Igbo extraction and his programmes draw crowd to Lagos from the eastern part of the country. Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the founder and General Overseer of Lord Chosen Charismatic Renewal Ministry, is a man who has to his credit series of quarrels. Little did many know that the man his followers see as the representative of God here on earth is not on talking terms with the man who anointed him a pastor. Before Muoka became a pastor, he was a church member of Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement under the leadership of Pastor Aloysius Chukwuemeka Ohanebo. It was in this church he was made a pastor and transferred to Mushin branch of the church and when the church in Mushin started increasing in size, Muoka decided to start his own church after he was accused of embezzling church fund. We gathered that even up till today Muoka is nursing a grudge against his former boss for questioning his accountability.
Pastor Lazarus Muoka and Pastor Nnamdi Ofoegbu
Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the General Overseer of Lord Chosen Charismatic Renewal Ministry and the founder, Christ Chosen Generation Revival Ministry, Pastor Nnamdi Ofoegbu, were once the very best of associates. It was said that the two started the Lord Chosen Charismatic Renewal Ministry together and that the two ran the church as boss and deputy until one of them became greedy on how to share the proceeds from the church. Ofoegbu accused Muoka of trying to sideline him because he was becoming more popular among the congregation and this led to Muoka plotting against him. For the love of money, which the bible calls the root of all evil, these two men of God don’t see eye to eye. |

Brain drain is another epidemic in Nigeria after Poverty amykelly: Hi all, I will really like your advice. My sister is getting married (church wedding) next year may in America. She is a green-card holder and has already done her court wedding to her husband a while ago. I want to get an interview date for April 2012. I want to use my sister and her husband as sponsor- The reason is that my sister is not working but her American husband is working and opened a joint account in both their names. Also I have 3 other siblings in America, is it wise to mention I have other relatives at the embassy? Also my husband is based in the UK and is a UK citizen, I have made up my mind that I will apply for the spouse visa once I get back from my sister's wedding Even if I am using my sister and husband as a sponsor, i am also working here in Nigeria on a salary of 130k per month and can show an account balance above 1m. Can this be used to show ties to Nigeria? and the fact I have my mum and other siblings here? also the fact that I am married and that I have to come back to apply for a UK spouse visa? I currently have a 2 yrs UK visa but have never applied to the American embassy. I have tried reading through the thread but I noticed that most people are applying for student visa. djunit1: When you read something take the time to explain it to yourself before you come to a conclusion. I never said anything bad bout the guy, I just said if he is as kind as he is making us believe he is then he is the best Nigerian in Yankee, Where is the insult here or where in that statement did I insinuate that he is a crook.
Why I will advice any Naija person to be careful of fellow Naija is because I have never had problem and asked for a favor and a Nigerian helped me. They always tell you one story or the other(Nigerians never tell you directly why they cant do something, they always LIE!!!) I have helped other Nigerians who I considered close friends and at the end they turned out to be ingrates and "bite me when I am are not around"An example, A Naija guy and I were discussing about different processes of applying for a credit card and getting approved and the guy said he got approved but could not show me the letter because of the sensitivity of it. That really got me mad because I never asked to see his useless letter in the first place. Even if I asked to see the letter I know for a fact that no letter carries personal information so why make a statement as useless as that? That statement only makes me look like a thief who is out to steal the little money your parents send to you occasionally.
I have had so many encounters with Naija people and they make silly statements they shouldn't make and do things they shouldn't do which is why I said if you see Nigerians "RUN"
Every Naija person sees another Nigerian as a thief, and I make em understand that I dont deny being a thief, I just dont steal from people I am better than. How do you expect someone who is fending for himself to steal from someone whose parents buy shoes for? Sounds illogical to me,
My experience might not be your experience so my statement was made because of what I have gone through.
Before you joined this thread I read from page 1 to 120 twice and I never came across a statement suggesting that you should stay put in Naija. What everyone emphasizes on is make sure you are prepared. I am among those singing that song too. Make sure you are prepared because it is HARD here!!!!! If you come prepared you wont feel any of the things they are talking about. DONT just talk to people the way you like when in the right sense they are giving the right advice The reason u are still on Nairaland associating with Nigerians that u hate so bad still baffles me. All this pus$ie Nigga$ coming to America and within a week starts destroying where they came from meanwhile they only have the Nigerian Passport has their only form of Identification. Omo Ale don't let me hurt your feelings this night. Just shut the fucck up gay sucking a white man Dicck |

If time is still on her side let her apply for the E-Passport. She will needs to travel to the embassy in person so her biometrics information can be taken. But if she doesn't have the time the Nigerian Visa will surely be her best bet and when she get to Nigeria she acn apply for the passport. Travelling with a travel certificate might be cheaper but it always raise an eyebrow for Immigration Official in the US. Alot of criminals have used Travel Certificate from Nigeria to escape justice so she might be asked to go through secondary screening. Check with the Embassy and pick the option that best fits your plan and pocket. Cheers |

mikkyangel: Ajenlakoko, The irony is, most likely the Immigration people will award you a six month permit - even when you intend to spend only one week. Technically that allows you to stay beyond your visa expiry date, but it is better if you just leave. Makes you look legit for future applications.
Bros are u serious? my 2 yrs usa visa expires by April nxt year, but i was thinking of travelling by October,so the immigration officers may give me 6months which coincides with April 2012( my visa expiration date), So u are saying if i decide to fly by December,i will be giving 6months by immigra peeps? Visa Expiration Date is just the last date u can use the Visa to travel into the US. If your Visa expires on Dec 31 u can still travel on Dec 31 provided u will arrive in the US on the 31. The length of your stay is not on the Visa it is on the I-94. People do have expired Visa but their I-94 is still valid. A US Visa is just for u to travel to a US Point of Entry and apply for entry. The expiration date of the I-94 is the main thing. The Immigartion Officer at the point of entry will make a decision on how long u will stay depending on your circumstances but they normally give 90 days or 6 months except for people coming for Conference or Training that has a specific end date. |

Bliss4Lyfe: US-based firm in Nigeria to crash second-hand car prices
Layi Adeloye
A United States-based auto auction firm, Insurance Auto Auction, has said that it is in Nigeria to redefine the lucrative second-hand car business, better known as tokunboh.
advertisement
The Vice-President of the firm, Mr. Dan Oscarson, told journalists on Thursday in Lagos that the firm would provide buyers the opportunity to import vehicles at exceptional prices.
According to Oscarson, buyers can also import dent cars and repair them when necessary in Nigeria, where the cost of labour and repair is low.
Oscarson said that from the firm's evaluation of the second-hand car market in Nigeria, cars were overpriced as some dealers made over 50 per cent of the cost price as profit.
"With growing demand for affordable transportation around the world, the opportunity to profit from buying and repairing damaged vehicles has become relevant," he said.
He said that the firm provided live and live-online auctions that would enable buyers get exceptional returns in their choice.
He added, "American standards specification (American spec) cars are very desirable in West African markets because of their special features. Our company sells salvage vehicles via live and live-online auction at over 155 locations across the United States.
"Low prices for this type of vehicles make them attractive to buyers who want to repair and use or resell in the local market. It is an opportunity to buy and save a lot of money."
Oscarson said the company was in the country to sensitise the general public on the abundant opportunities in the initiative.
According to him, Nigerians that visit the IAA website have increased by over 100 per cent with over 50 per cent purchase.
He said that the initiative would eliminate the situation where most Nigerians were defrauded in an effort to procure cars through friends abroad.
"Buyers can access our website and collaborate with the company through licensed dealers to fast-track shipment and payment logistics. We were here in 2009 and the volume of quality cars and traffic showed positive indices of growth. We have discovered that purchase of salvage cars is more efficient when compared to overage cars. It's a good offer to people that cannot really afford a new car.
"The company has the most salvage auction facilities in North American selling well over 1.3 million salvage vehicles annually. With more than 26 years experience, from local to global level, we offer an experience advantage that demonstrates the ability to prepare and sell your inventory quickly for great value," he added.
He said that the initiative would lead to wealth creation, employment generation and technology transfer for artisans due to maintenance of the vehicles. Thats a good move by IAAI |

You have an opportunity to go to the best school for free since you are in the Military. They have the best benefits package in the whole USA. Evaluate your transcripts from Nigeria and talk to a recruiter. Moving around doing menial jobs in this century for a Master Degree holder is kinda awkward when u have all what it takes to do better. Don't limit yourself and going to war doesn't mean u gonna die. Everybody will die at his/her own time. If you don't like Tinubu why reply the thread? Some people needs to grow up. Good or bad this guy is being celebrated home and abroad and you still remain your poverty-ravaged self. They said he his not Asiwaju of Yorubaland. He hasn't mentioned it in any fora that he want to be the Asiwaju but we all know who the crown fits. •Ex-Lagos governor bags maiden African Servant Leadership Award in Ghana
mid fanfare, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu yesterday received the maiden African Servant Leadership Award’ in Accra, Ghana.
It was at an impressive ceremony witnessed by statesmen, politicians, scholars, traditional rulers and top government functionaries from the West Africa sub-region.
The award was organised by the Ghana Graduate School of Leadership and Governance, Accra.
Tinubu was honoured along with 14 others, including individuals and corporate institutions, having been adjudged to have demonstrated leadership in their service to humanity.
The ACN National Leader was nominated for the ‘Political Leadership’ category of the awards. Other recipients are Nana Oyelita ( Legal Leadership), Gifty Chanpong (Enterpreneurship Leadership), Asokoh Koseh (Security), Angela Anguadi (Women Empowerment), Ogyasefo Ajanangbede (Traditional Leadership), Bishop Tom Asari (Youth Empowerment), and Arch-Bishop Duncean Williams (African Mentoring Leadership).
Leading the pack of dignitaries at the ceremony, which was held at Main Auditorium of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra, was the Ghanaian Vice President John Aramani Mahama. He described the former Lagos State governor as ‘a Nigerian political colossus, who has brought new ideas and leadership styles to bear on governance and service to the community, society and nation”.
The 2011 African Servant Leadership Awards (ASLA) was a twin-programme, which also marked the convocation of the pro-graduate students of the school and presentation of certificates.
Tinubu was accompanied by Governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) and Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly Adeyemi Ikuforiji; Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora; Senator Joel Ikenya; Mr Dele Alake, Chief Executive Officer of Television Continental; Dr Muiz Banire; Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Chief Pius Akinyelure; Alhaji Yusuf Ali; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Senator Gbenga Obadara; Hon. Wale Oshun; Otunba Dele Ajomale; Alhaji Kola Oseni; Prof Siyan Oyeweso; Mr. Boss Mustapha; Dr Usman Bugaje; Senator Lawan Shuaibu; Comrade Joe Igbokwe; Chief Funso Ologunde; Comrade Kayode Opeifa; Mr Victor Ifijeh and Mr. Kunle Fagbemi.
The Governor-General of the college, Rev. Gideon Ofei, explained that Tinubu and other awardees were honoured because of their diligent services to the people of Africa.
He said: “Through leadership, they have fed the hungry, clothed the naked, housed the homeless, empowered women, mentored the youth and transformed communities. Let us emulate the examples of these individuals and organisations”.
A short documentary on Tinubu heralded the conferment of the award on him by the Ghanian Vice President. As he was ushered into the podium to receive the plaque, which was the main insignia of the award, the guests rose in his honour.
The ACN congregation also sung the familiar loyalty anthem: ‘On your mandate we shall stand’, immediately the plaque was presented to him, amid cheers by the guests.
Tinubu thanked the organisers for the honour, promising to serve the people throughout his life.
He said: “That you, my brothers and sisters, have given me this award, does not mean I have finished with my contribution. It means the opposite. I have much more to do on behalf of this continent and people, whom I love and this award will encourage me forever onward”.
Tinubu paid tribute to the frontline African leaders, who served the continent to the best of their ability, including Kwame Nkrumah, Sekou Toure, Nelson Mandela, Samora Machel and Obafemi Awolowo, stressing that their contributions would continue to inspire present and future generations.
He said the task before the present generation is to build on their solid foundations and move the continent forward.
Tinubu urged Africa to take its destiny in its hands, instead of depending on Europe and America for leadership and direction.
He said the continent can liberate itself from hunger, poverty, ignorance and inferiority complex by looking inwards.
Tinubu added: “We must become the architects of our own economies and not let others plan our structures for us. We have to be smart and stop mimicking those who lead themselves into the ditch. Africa has to build, invent and create things. Ghana and Nigeria must lead the way”. |

GboyegaD: It is nice reading this page today. I just got my funding letter and indeed it was great. It is not $22/hour as sent in their earlier mail as the letter read $20/hour which is still favourable. I know God will surely favour us all. The excerpt of the mail is as seen below:
"On behalf of the Department of Economics at the University of North Texas, I am pleased to offer you a position as a Graduate Academic Assistant (AA) for the 2011-2012 academic year (Fall 2011 and Spring 2010). The criteria you must meet in order to qualify for this assistantship are as follows: (1.) you must file a degree plan during fall 2011; (2.) you must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student during fall 2011 and spring 2012 (nine graduate hours in each semester); (3.) you must make good progress on your degree plan in each semester; and (4.) you must not hold any other employment outside of the University.
This is an hourly position for no more than 20 hours per week at the hourly rate of $20.00 per hour. You will be expected to work during the entire fall and spring semesters, including finals week. Since this is an hourly position, health insurance is not included. However, this position will qualify you for in-state tuition. You will be paid two times a month and you will have to submit a time sheet in order to receive your paycheck. Your first paycheck should arrive on October 1st.
This AA position can be renewed for the 2012-2013 academic year, subject to the approval of the graduate advisor, as long as you meet all of the above-mentioned criteria and also remain in good academic standing and fulfill your AA duties and responsibilities satisfactorily during the 2011-2012 academic year." Thats a good deal. Lucky u. In this recession $20 per hour? Which Church u dey go? |

GboyegaD: Hello House,
While trying to fill my DS 160 I got stuck when asked for my residence in the US. As of now I am yet to conclude my accommodation plans as the school does not have graduate housing and I am still trying to get a very comfortable place outside school. What do you suggest I do? Do I conclude on this before filling the application or can I use a temporary address in a state outside where my school is located. Put the Sch address and rest your mind. The Consular hardly have time for the DS 160 in a 3 min interview. They just have that as records. |
