U guys are derailing the thread. The germane questions are being left out. Do u know that most consulars now ask educational questions? They look at your certificate and look for subjects u good in and start asking questions about it. Sometimes they ask u why are u not good in one particular subject. For some of u going for Engineering courses and u not good in Math then u gotta have to be prayerful.
Some dude are asking dumb questions. No offence intended.

no matter what, is it wise for anyone to make this kind of comment to someone who simply asked a question? that is not the way to welcome someone. if you dont have an answer to it, or you think his question is inappropriate, at least you can treat him with respect especially as he is a new member of nairaland.

Justwise, do you have to always support her even when she is arrogant? i do like you and i respect your work here, but i won't support you when i think you r unfair. you have seen funky cursing people here and there (something that tells how uncultured & illmannered she is) and yet you support her. that is not good

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I started reading your posts back in July/August when my brother was going to the embassy for his F1 interview. I must commend you. You are the best!!! Even though no one responded to my questions then, I learned so much from you all.
I put together a little something for him from your posts and voila, he got his visa. Eni ti a se loore ti ko dupe, bi olosa koni leru lo ni. (The one that we did a favor and refused to say thank you is like a thief steals ones belonging). Thank you all.
I never stopped coming here even after my brother got to the US.

@Ojap, America is not a bed of roses but, you can be whatever you want to be here if you dont stop. If you have to go to your international student office to tell them things are tough, do. Some schools will make you sign a kind of payment plan/contract. Some schools are very generous. They`ll change your status to in-state and you start paying in-state fee. BUT, you have to be on top of your class like someone said. You must be pushing for a GPA of close to 4.0 if not 4.0. I know its doable. I am a mother of 3, a wife, an engineer ( I work full time), a graduate student and probably the least you`ll want to know, an american ( ha ha ha, makes me laugh). I`m also proudly Nigerian. This is my 4th and final semester and my GPA has been 3.67, 4.0, 4.0. School is easy in America if you have a functioning brain.
U forgot to tell them that its expensive too for foreign student.
Those of u coming hope u have your tuition?
Schools will still be giving I-20 provided u have your money.
Think twice not all that glitters is gold
TravelRe: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by oyewolejos(m): 2:10am On Oct 23, 2010
Ojap i think since u are here u shouldn't be posting your status on the internet. U can hook up with some house members who are already here privately than washing your dirty linen outside. If u remember when u called me i gave u the best advice u can get but somehow u didn't get back to me. California is a big state and loads of opportunities but it depends on what u wanna do. U have to gather your resources together and see what u can do for yourself.
I think u are the best person to decide what u wanna do. Whether to go back home or to stay put come rain come sun.
My Brother, its not easy here but people are managing it and hiding it. As its happening to u its happening to everybody.

Welcome to America

@oyewolejos medical fee is about $250-$300 but the wedding fee no reach $800, YOU buy your marriage licence $75 you pay the Judge $50, wedding don set any other expenditure na OYO , if the marriage is for real i dont see the need for a lawyer cause all the info u need is on the internet , even the the marriage na game n u play your cards well u still dont need a lawyer , like u earlier said USA immigration is not an issue except you no want just help urself i fink in all without paying lawyer n woman u no suppose spend pass $1500

ciao
Since u think u too know why ask questions in the first place.
If u dont need a lawyer who is gonna file the tax for u?
Who is gonna make sure u get your marriage license in 2 hours instead of a month wait at the court?
Who is gonna package the whole documents to make it look real a bit?
This is how 9jerians mess themselves up.
Moreover all the charges i quoted was just an estimate. I put $100-$800
$1500 for the whole process? Are u kidding me? Please tell me where to do that?
It would have been better if people can read before replying from their balls.

For Person wey dey Yankee u fit arrange then go to Buffalo in New York then enter through that place. Immediately u use ori olori depart from the Yankee part of the border throw away the ori olori inside the restroom before u approach Canadian Immigration. Immediately they ask for your ID just raise your hand and surrender tell them dem Gangs dey pursue u for Yankee. Tell them u tell them u know wan join and they told u they gonna kill u and u have to run away from persecution. Abeg trash that ori olori before u get to the Canadian side of the border cos if they see ori olori with u na International Offence am talking from Experience, Just tell them u are from 9ja nad show them ur 9ja passport if they ask for it. Ori olori for Yankee immigration then Nigerian P for Canadian Immigration after u for don tell them say u wanna file for asylum. Dem go give u accomodation and bear ur feeeding cost pending the outcome of ur application. This also applies to the guy coming from Latin America. Abeg no let them 2 ID with u o na Identity theft and its a federal offence which can land u 10 years in a maximum prison. This is from experience.

USCIS Fees= $1365
Medical fee=$200-$300
Lawyer fee=$1500-$3000
Wedding fee=$300-$800
Wife charges if is a marriage fraud=$3000-$20000 depending on your state, girl, pocket, and game grin
Waiting period all things being equal and perfect=5months
One thing for sure if u passed the Background check u will get your Employment Authorzation Document which u can use to get a Social Security number which allow u to work even though if your Green card application is refused. Social Security number is issued to u for life.

Just stay out of crime. Even if your Visa has expired 10years ago so far u enter the country legally then u can file in. but if u came in through mexico by swimming then forget it u have to go back to 9ja to get your papers if is a long thing. But if u were legally admitted then no caus efor alarm u gonna get your paper. If they refuse u go to vegas and divorce the girl immediately. Vegas Divorce system is very fast is like 3 weeks then marry another woman and go again. Dont ask me won;t that be suspicious. hell no everybody comes with intention to defraud them so it now depends on your fraud skills. USA Immigration is ba wahala. No stress unlike UK grin grin grin
Though i stand to be corrected if i will ever be on the above

Identity theft is a big deal!!

This is the stuff that annoys me, asking to regularize when you have over-stayed,? you hashing over 5-7 years overstay, it does not make any difference.

Has anyone heard of Gitmo? The idea that things would be better in the US is laughable, for all you know you could have been considered Bo Haram and really disappeared.

I get your point your an economic immigrant but if you read the papers or watched the tv, since the financial crisis any illegal in any country is fair game by the indigenous. Its not fair, right, but simply the facts, how can they afford you around when they cannot take care of their own poor?
I can't imagine someone comparing Gitmo which is for terrorist suspect to an Ordinary Detention Camp.
Where the hell did Boko Haram came up here? I can't imagine people thinking from their anus.
Deportation to Boko Haram? U need to see your Doctor.

as much as i want to feel for you - i imagine deportation is not a nice thing to go thru - i don't really get the point of your rant. U overstayed and your shouting about human rights, maybe i'm not getting the connection and someone can correct me but if you committed an offence and found guilty then what is the complaint - 5 years or 7 years u overstayed.

your even lucky your in the UK from what i have heard if u were arested in the states on th 27th of July u would be in MMA by the 29th of July.

sorry if i don't sound sympathetic and all the best.
Do u really know the meaning of Human Rights? I do shed tears in my heart when i see ignorant people like u.
Justice cannot be said to have been done but seen to have been done. The Poster is still innocent of all the offence until found guilty by a competent court. Don't u know the difference between 5 years to 7 years? Where is your thinking cap?
The internet is made up of wise people and loads of big fools continue to spread your ignorance.
Its even criminal for the Home Office to come up with false statements about the poster. The Home Office erred on a point of law by not letting the Judge know that u have only overstayed for 5 years not 7 years as claimed. this is a testimony to the failure of the British Judiciary system.
In the US u are given fair hearing and u still have the rights to appeal against any unfavourable judgement.
Poster i think u should get in touch with a good Lawyer who knows his onions when it comes to matters like this.
Deporting u is not the big deal but it should be done transparently without any infringement on your Fundamental Human rights.
In addition i think the offence is bailable so i still don't get the reason why u were denied bail.
Well keep your head up and hope for the best but be prepared for the worst when it comes to UK Immigration issues cos they suck.
TravelRe: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by oyewolejos(m): 4:00pm On Aug 28, 2010
@Ojap I don't think u proved beyond resonable doubt that u coming back. When u told the consular u coming back to work in your father's company then there is no exposure at all and the efforts of going to the US is defeated if there's no change of environment. Since u work in your Dad's company without a US degreee and when u bag a US degree u still gonna work there then whats the essence of wasting money only to come back and work at the same old place?
These people are psychologists they aint dumb so u no gonna sell them dummies. Let them know u coming back to contribute your own quota towards the development of Nigeria. They dont think it's patriotic for u to come back and work for your Dad's company. Why not work for your country since they needs professional like u? Let them know that the much talked about Vision 2020 will be a mirage if people like u are not allowed to get more knowledge in the US so u can come and use it for the economical growth of Naija. They need to see the patriotic zeal in you, the vision u have for Nigeria not for yourself.
On the School just tell them why the school is better off any school partaining to your Major not to Geographical location. The Consular was right to tell u that Louisanna is the Niger Dellta of USA not California. There are loads of errors in your response which u need to address. CSUB is a great school to link it to your major not to locations.

Finally, its not appropriate for the Consular to ask u first what your Dad's Company is into and the name. This should be your first statement before u say any other things about them. U have to let the consular know your role in the company not for him to ask u. Talk to the Consular with boldness and forget about the Computer training thingy its been a long story in the mouth of all Nigerians. Just tell him/her u been working with your Dad's coy since u left high school trying to gain work experience.
Computer Knowledge is for 3 years old kid in Yankee so it's no big deal to them.
Hope this helps and Good Luck in your Interview
