I have stopped contributing here but I made an exception for you. You are caught in the US immigration laws and you have to know your way around.

1) If you process the lottery now, then you are a prospective US immigrant. This disqualifies you for receiving a student visa, a non-immigrant visa.

2) If you defer your admission and process the lottery instead, there is a chance that they deny your immigrant visa. In this case, it will be hard for you to receive a US non-immigrant visa in the future because you have in the past shown immigration intent.

The earliest that they will start the processing of DV 2012 is Oct 2011. My advice, do not take action on your lottery now; go for your interview in August. If they grant you your F-1, you can easily process your lottery in the US. If they don't, you can continue to process it in Nigeria and you wouldn't be caught up in the US complex immigration laws.

By the way, you might state the last 5digits of your case number.

Goodluck!
Oga take it easy your advice is very wrong.
W.T.F is a Student Visa when u can get a PR and come here and live permanently and apply for Financial AId and Student Loans?
W.T.F is student Visa when u can come here and live and work for a year and qualify as a resident for tuition purposes?
W.T.F is Student Visa when in 5 years u can be a Citizen and stay filing for your family members?
W.T.F is a Student Visa when u can come here and don't worry about marrying Akata for papers?
And for your information he can't process DV lottery from the U.S.A

Can any1 advise on what to do.  I'm so so confused.  Pls my fellow brodas help me oooooooooooooooooooo

U̶̲̥̅̊r boy wale
If truly u won the DV lottery then go and tear that I-20 into pieces.
Fuccck that Sch, Fucck Sevis and fucck the appointment.
If you can get a Student Visa which is a Non-Immigrant Visa with your own effort then u can surely get a Green Card.
Since u meet the educational requirement for the Green Card and you can present yourself for the Interview then i don't see u having any problem

U are just 5 months away from getting the GC.
But if u go ahead with the Student Visa and get refused or something then u gonna have a problem during the Green Card interview cos u have already created a record for yourself. Just chill for now and get the admission deferred till Spring and hopefully before then u get your Green card.
Student Visa is there everytime but a lottery is a once in a lifetime luck.

If truly u won then hit me up cos we might do some collabo grin grin grin
U can drop ur email here and Lemme know what's up privately.

It is possible, but then, how about the cost of the internal flight?
And besides, bear in mind that the United States is by far bigger than the whole of West Africa, and therefore you might be unlucky enough to get into trouble with the immigration officers if you arrive through a distant airport that has nothing to do with the state where your conference is to be held; i've witnessed people being stopped and deported on suspicion of false intentions. . .: so, i'll advice you to use the airport nearest to your conference venue. The United states is not like Nigeria where a person travelling to Calabar arrives through Ikeja airport.
Not if he has a Valid ticket from JFK to SFO
I live in Cali and i came in through JFK without any issues.
Immigration is a Federal Agency in the US so they don't care where u arrive so far you have genuine intentions and documents to prove.

Yeah Ladoja is a spoiler after his defeat in this election he will retire from Politics. I believe he was brought in by the PDP to share Ibadan votes.
He should answer corruption charges against him before seeking Political office cos he who want to come to the Augean stable should come with clean hands.
IMO there should be age limit to seek elective office maybe 55 years. There should be time for retirement like we have in the Civil Service.

NYSC Corp member arrested with thumb printed ballot paper in Ibadan

Two PDP bigwigs were today arrested for electoral offences by the security agents. They are, Senator Kamorudeen Adedibu and Dr Soji Adejumo… Report reaching me says Kamoru Adedibu has been arrested! He was caught in possession of 400 thumbprinted voters card
Also, a corper has been arrested in Ibadan-North west with over 400 thumb printed ballot paper. He confesses to the security that he is not the only one involved. He alleged that, they have a network spread across the state with the sole mission of getting the ballot papers into the governorship ballot box.
As at the time of filling this report, he’s cooperating with the investigators and giving useful information which can lead the security agent in tracking down others across the state. The Parrot cannot confirm whether the apprehended corp member is real or fake member of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) as at the time of filling this report.

Actually, you can be a Prof without a PhD. Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe are examples. There are others e.gs too.

But dont mind the fake professor Aluko. He is a ''Nigerian Affairs'' professor who left his calling -Chemical Engineering -for ''Dawodu Engineering''. Someone who has not published any scientific article in more than a decade calls himself a prof. Only in Howard University will that happen. And this is the same person Jonathan recently appointed a VC to his Otuoke University? Let ND militants read this, they will decide what to do with him at Otuoke. If he feels this way, why accept an appointment from the same person? Hypocrites, as usual.

^Welcome Maverick (fellow Celtic fan) . . . unless you're a return ID?  smiley

I think we're going to be suprised this playoff season . . . and I would like to be suprised. Teams like OKC and Chi that have been on the verge actually have a shot to breakthrough because they're playing with a ton of confidence and momentum. The other side of the equation is nothing trumps experience - championship experience - something LA, Bos, SA all have - regardless of how badly they're playing right now.

Also LA and Boston really sucked leading into last years playoffs, and suprised us all by making the finals, so one can never write them off. Miami is a wildcard. I agree it'll be hard for them to better any of the top teams in a 7-game series . . . but hey, anything is possible!

Let the Playoffs begin . . .
Did u watch their game against Boston?

U better don't let some idiot mis-inform you. Some people are ignorant of the US Immigration laws but they claim to know all.
Since the realtionship is based on marriage then u are an Immediate Relative of the US Citizen and a visa number is immediately available to you no matter where u are. Let your wife petition the form I-130 for you. When th petition is approved USCIS will notify the National Visa Centre. The NVC will notify you to submit additional documents and pay all the necessary fees. The Consular Office in Lagos will notify you of the dat of your interview and they will determine if u are eligible for an Immigrant Visa.
If you are granted an immigrant visa, the consular officer will give you a packet of information. This packet is known as a “Visa Packet.” You should not open this packet.

Upon your arrival to the United States, you should give your Visa Packet to the Customs and Border Protection officer at the port of entry. You will be inspected by a Customs and Border Protection officer and if found admissible, will be admitted as a permanent resident of the United States, which gives you the authority to live and work in the United States permanently. All things bing equal these process shouldn' take more than 6 months if it's a marriage based petition.
Below is a link from USCIS

The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) offers an individual two primary paths to permanent resident status (a green card). An individual who is the beneficiary of an approved immigrant petition and has an immigrant visa number immediately available may apply at a U.S. Department of State consulate abroad for an immigrant visa in order to come to the United States and be admitted as a permanent resident
. This pathway is referred to as “consular processing.”

Adjustment of status is an alternate process by which an eligible person, who is already in the United States, can apply for permanent resident status without having to return to his/her home country to complete processing.

Immigrant visas available to “immediate relatives” of U.S. citizens are unlimited, so are always available. . Immediate relatives include, parents of a U.S. citizen, spouses of a U.S. citizen and, unmarried children under the age of 21 of a U.S. citizen.

PoliticsAt Last,senator James Udoedehe Released by oyewolejos(op): 12:50am On Apr 09, 2011
An Akwa Ibom State High Court 1 sitting in Uyo Friday granted conditional bail to the embattled Action Congress (ACN) of Nigeria gubernatorial candidate Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.

A team of 30 lawyers led by Prof. Yemi Osibanju (SAN) had filed an application for bail on behalf of Akpanudoedehe before the state High court presided over by the state Chief Judge, Mrs. Idonesit Ntem-Isua on April 6th 2011.

Granting the bail at about 3:30pm today, Justice Ntem-Isua set the sum of N5million and one surety who must have a landed property within the state capital as condition for his freedom.

Giving conditions for the bail, the Chief Judge asked that the surety must sign an undertaking that though it was a celebrated case, whatever celebration would not constitute a breach of peace in the state.

She called on all the political parties in the state to go about their campaigns lawfully, as every citizen has the freedom to aspire for any political position and to campaign for votes in any part of the state, stressing that it was the prerogative of the electorates to decide with their votes.

The prosecution counsel led by the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekpenyong Ntekim said his decision not to oppose the bail application as the representative of the state was for record purposes saying that damages recorded by the state for the sake of politics was enormous.

“As the Attorney General of the state, I cannot pertain to be ignorant of the damages politics is doing to this state and the society at large,” he stated.

He however persuaded politicians in the state not to see politics as a do or die affair, where all forms of tugs are implored to cause damage in the society hoping that the gesture will bring about a deliberate balance between the rights of individuals and that of the state.

“We have decided to act wisely and not to oppose the application as it in the interest of peace in the society,” the Attorney General stressed.

Withdrawing the preliminary objection earlier filed against the bail application, Ntekim maintained that the court is duty bound to protect the interest of the society in deciding the matters brought before it.

In his reaction, the lead counsel, Prof. Osibanju expressed gratitude to the prosecution counsel for not opposing the application saying that his client has been given an air of relief to pursue his legitimate right as a citizen.

He however assured the court that the accused would not jump bail.

Shortly after the judgement, Akpanudoedehe’s supporters took to the streets in jubilation. They were seen on top of motorbikes, with brooms, spraying powder on themselves as well as others.

THEWILL correspondent also gathered that security operatives are parading the streets of Uyo to ensure adequate security of lives and properties in the state.
