Kobojunkie:
I don't understand your question at all. Are you suggesting that the State Assembly has no power to pursue a case against any person/entity that locks it's members out for as long as you claim, or it finds liable for corruption etc? It is not really the place of the EFCC, ICPC and the Police to file cases. Ordinary people on the street can do that too, so why not the State Assembly? Of what good is their administrative responsibilities if they are unable to bring a case against any one party as they see fit?

I got to ask, why do you think can't the State Assembly pursue a criminal case against any person/entity it should? Ordinary citizens, even Governments, the President can, so why can't the Assembly do that?
Nobody can file a criminal case against anybody. The only thing u can do is get an order of mandamus to compel the appropriate law enforcement agency to act. Who will bring the accused to court? The Assembly?
U are confusing a Civil Suit for a Criminal Suit.
PoliticsRe: OGD Banned To Hold Political Office For Life! by oyewolejos(m): 4:38am On Jun 06, 2011
Kobojunkie:
^^ It was not meant as an insult but a clear suggestion considering the path of your argument all to this point. You are here now suggesting that when a person chooses to file a criminal suit against a person, that person becomes a law enforcer?
On what ground will a State Assembly file a criminal suit against a person? State Assembly? Not EFCC, ICPC nor Police?
I wonder which Country the Judge that will entertain the suit was trained.
Financial crimes for that matter.
This is a complete Joke to me

administration of laws within its legislative competence
What's the similarities between Administration of laws and ENFORECEMENT of law?
oyewolejos:
The Assembly is a Law making body not a law enforcement agency.
Law enforcement and law administration is not the same thing Madam Know It All
It's obvious u are just a mischief maker.

Johndoe100:
Another example of the Yoruba penchant to choose sound and noise over substance. No state assembly can ban anybody from holding office. Guilt and innocence are the exclusive preserve of law courts within the country called Nigeria.
Another Psychiatric Patient let loose.

Kobojunkie:
Anyone without comprehension issues can clearly state that all you have done is attempt, over and over, to make the constitution say what it does not.
I never twisted the Constitution. I quote what's in the Constitution which is expose corruption, inefficiency of waste in the execution or administration of laws within its legislative competence and in the disbursement or administration of funds appropriated by it.
So go look for the person that twisted the constitution. Check to see if the bolded part is not in the Constitution.

Kobojunkie:
simply because the state Assembly, rather than actively pursue a criminal case against the OGD since his crimes were supposedly committed against the state, chose to make a near 'useless' declaration that amounts not much more than a slap on OGD's ego.
And where in the Constitution the Assembly has the power to PURSUE a criminal case?
What are the functions of the EFCC, ICPC, and the Code of Conduct Bureau?
The only thing the Assembly can do is to recommend him for Prosecution which they already did. The onus and the political will is now on the anti-corruption agencies to pursue the case to its logical conclusion. The Assembly is a Law making body not a law enforcement agency.
Another Constitutional error on your part.

^^^ I am willing to pretend that what you typed above makes good sense. All I ask ,again, is that you provide us with solid information in the constitution that supports the move(NO LAW was passed, just a declaration that will accomplish nothing) made by the OGHA this past week, simple!
I gave what the Constitution says on that but u choose to ignore it and came back with another constitutional blunder by implying that the intervention of the National Assembly in the State Assembly crisis is illegal.
Like i said if OGD and is co-travellers like u thinks the Assembly is wrong then approach the court as try to reverse it. Simple
The House has spoken any aggrieved parties can legally challenge its decisions
PoliticsRe: OGD Banned To Hold Political Office For Life! by oyewolejos(m): 2:37am On Jun 06, 2011
Kobojunkie:
Where is the law that provides for this move? Since you pretend to know more how lawmakers work, then it should not be hard for you to point us to the particular law/legislation/provision that allows for this action, this declaration, by the senate, on an ex-governor mind you.

We are talking here of the very same Ogun State assembly where the Speaker called on the National Assembly to assume power over the Ogun State legislature. Thank goodness people quickly spoke up about that. Now you want to have beef with me simply because I choose to question this other move?

Show us the written evidence of this law, at least. We would like to see it. And no, legislators don't make things up out of thing air. They are themselves bound by laws that allow or disallow their acts.
It's  obvious u don't know anything about Legislative matters in Nigeria
Section 11(4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria makes provision for the National Assembly to take over the responsibilities of any State Assembly until that particular House is able to resume its functions. I quote that section in bold:

At any time when any House of Assembly of a State is unable to perform its functions by reason of the situation prevailing in that State, the National Assembly may make such laws for the peace, order and good government of that State with respect to matters on which a House of Assembly may make laws as may appear to the National Assembly to be necessary or expedient until such time as the House of Assembly is able to resume its functions; and any such laws enacted by the National Assembly pursuant to this section shall have effect as if they were laws enacted by the House of Assembly of the State:

The House couldn't sit because a few minority impeached the Majority with the tactic support of the Governor so in line with the constitution the National Assembly wanted to take over the House.
Moreover the Speaker didn't called the National Assembly to take over,  The motion  was sponsored by the  Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Hon. Ita Enang and 16 others on the floor of the House on October 14, 2010.
The motion was debated during the sitting of the House of Rep so don't just come here and give the OGHA Speaker a bad name.
Know your facts before u lay it here not all of us are illiterates.

Whether the constitution make provision to ban or not, some things are clear.

1.That this man run a complete failed government - You can see the evidience by just driving
past Ibafo, Imowe, Shagamu, Sango Otta and Ijebu Ode.

2. That this man embessiled the state fund beyound measure.

3. That this man contravened the rule of law in dealing with the state assembly.

4. That this man ran away like a deliquent housewife grin immediately after his tenure.
Thats what people here don't get. That offence alone is impeachable. But they are happy that Etteh was acquitted by the House of Rep.
Ogun Assembly out of all the Assemblies standout during the last dispensation and they deserved ovations not bashing from people ignorant of Legislative matters.
This is unnecessary. All they (be it the people of Ogun state or the people that appoints politicians for political offices) need to do is not vote him in.

I dout OGD has the power to ban Daniel from ever holding office. He's a citizen with his own democratic rights. If they cannot punish him legally, then they ought to just siddon somewhere.
Do u mean OGHA?
Kobojunkie:
Here's what you need to know. The reason we have laws and a Constitution, is so no one group can come together to create for themselves powers that are not assigned to them by the Constitution or law of the land.

7 months lock out does not AUTOMAGICALLY bestow on the house of assembly the power to ban anyone from occupying seat of position in the future. It is this kind of AGBERO politics that got the house locked in the first place, and it should not be condoned.

By the way, where in the Constitution, do you claim this power to ban ANYBODY resides? Please include the exact paragraphs for us to read.
I doubt if you know jack about the genesis of the crisis between the Assembly and the Executive.
Section 128 subsection 2 of the 1999 constitution is clear on this matter and i quote in bold
The powers conferred on a House of Assembly under the provisions of this section are exercisable only for the purpose of enabling the House to -

(a) make laws with respect to any matter within its legislative competence and correct any defects in existing laws; and

(b) expose corruption, inefficiency of waste in the execution or administration of laws within its legislative competence and in the disbursement or administration of funds appropriated by it.

All the allegations are impeachable offences but because the House was locked down they couldn't impeach him until he left so they are left with no choice but to ban him from holding Public Office in the future. If anybody thinks otherwise they should approach the Court.
PoliticsRe: OGD Banned To Hold Political Office For Life! by oyewolejos(m): 5:24am On Jun 05, 2011

OK . .  and how exactly did the Ogun State House of Assembly get this power to ban citizens in such a way? By the way, na now dem wake up? undecided undecided undecided
Where were u when the Assembly was locked down during the past 7 months or so?
This is the first time the Assembly will sit and they did what was just and fair.

All the allegations are substantial. Moreover the Assembly has the power to ban anybody so get a correct constitution if yours is upside down

@oyewolejos

How can i book a local flight from jfk to louisiana from Nigeria ? GTB mastercard ? ,Also i want to be on a safe side not to book it from here as to avoid delays by airlines or any unforseen cancelations and delay and i miss the flight on getting to JFK on time that's why.Besides i checked with american airline they are cheap from JFK.

Also i didn't confirm but i don't think it's diplomatic passport Pastor Adeboye has because he did came there for visa interview.

@seedord247

Already bought for a date 18th but will change it to 21st with a fee with emirates.
I don't know about Emirates but i know Qatar Airways always arrive on time at JFK. When my Bro came in Dec i bought the Ticket 3 weeks in advance with my Debit Card. I gave at least 3 hours interval between the flights so if there's any delay he can still meet up.
Give time between your flights and book in advance else u might have to pay up to $1000 for just a one way ticket to your final destination at the counter or worse still seats might not be available.
But if u don't mind u can take the Greyhound or Bus to your destination which is a good holiday adventure in this summer grin grin grin

@All

It's been a while i commented on here.Sorry for that.I've been preparing for my trip coming up and also not easy relocating and leaving behind your familes and Loved once.

Did i mention about Pastor Adeboye and his wife, the G.O of Redeemed Christian Church of God being denied the day i went for my interview in Abuja.Well he walked in majestically with his lovely wife into the consular hall with almost everyone wanting to have a ''God Bless You'' from him.

He went to the baba at cubicle 9,The same baba that interviewed me that day.I was careful to listen to his interview. Was curious to know the outcome that day.The baba wanted to give him but he said Pastor Adeboye has some visa not yet canceled on his other passport (Maybe the old one) and he should cancel that first before he can be given a new one.Pastro Adeboye wanted to go to Maryland but was denied and the baba at cubicle 9 said to him in this words ''I know who you are,I know you are a man of God but it is the policy and no one is above it'' and Pastor Adeboye replied i will be back then.

I was like common USA.This man is not running anywhere.Have you guys seen his camp ground along Lagos-Ibadan express road.Common give him.

After he left then 6 people before my turn and it was same baba cubicle 9 thet gave me without a hitch.Still like a movie to me.It's like one of those seasons film to me.i still seat and imagine how God favoured me.

Update on flight price.I bought flight one way to JFK New York with Emirates Airline with one stop over in Dubai for 151 000 Naira. Then i will purchase across the counter flight at JFK to my final destination.Louisiana.It's cheaper when you book earlier.

Can't wait to touch-down in JFK New York

Still preparing !!!

All going for their interview,God will give you devine favour and you shall also come here to testify of his good work. It's no mans doing. Not by how smart you are,Not how confident you are,Not by how guaranteed by an agent, Not by how rich or poor your parents of you are.Because i had all the first time i went but not fully commited in God's hand. But now all on God.He will give you the visa just be prepared then pray for favour of God for the Visa Officer to be in Good mood and his spirit to accept you instantly.

Thanks and hope to update soon.

Yankee boy here
Fris.
To avoid being stranded in JFK it's better u buy the ticket in advance before u leave 9ja. Getting a ticket at the counter is difficult and expensive nowadays esp in JFK. Use a Master or Debit Card and buy it so u won't have any regrets at JFK.

By the way i thought Pastor Adeboye has a Diplomatic Passport?

Here's my experience.

Got there by 9am, was checked in (security guys in the lobby don't smile or return greetings,  na wa oh). I was asked to go wait in the waiting room till 10 am. What a shock. The waiting room needs to be aired out and the walls re-painted. They had exposed wiring everywhere (fire hazard in the making).

Anyway, by 10.10 or 10.15 am, the 2 female employees walk in and start settling down for work. One of them made an announcement asking everybody there to make sure they arrange their documents in proper order with the proof of payment as the first page.
I noticed that a lot of Nigerian in this country are not entirely helpful to other Nigerians.  We all had to take a number as soon as we walked into the waiting room but there were other people that came in and sat down without knowing that they had to pick a number. i found myself telling a few of them to go get a number and noticed that no other person was volunteering this information. We all should be helpful to each other especially in foreign countries like this.

Bottom-line, I was in and out of the Embassy in about 2 and a half hours.
I was told that I needed to bring a self addressed envelope that would be used to mail my passport back to me. That didn't happen. the Embassy personnel told me they don't mail passports to New Jersey and if I had a friend, living in NY, i could send them to pick it up. I don't have any family or friends in NY so i have to make another 2 hour trip back to NY. It is annoying.
Welcome to the Federal Republic of Nigeria grin grin grin grin

revlution:
Thank you for that question.
Firstly which nursing qualification do you have , is it HND nursing, Bsc Nursing, auxillary nursing (nurse Eliza)
Secondly, do where do u want to work, company hospital, private hospital, FG hospital, chemist.

HND nursing+private hospital average pay/month-10k
HND nursing+FG hospital-13k
Bsc nursing+FG hospital-25k

Bsc nursing+private hosp-15k
Bsc nursing+company hospital-50k(depending)
HND+Company hosp- 35k
nurse eliza+chemist- self employed
All are subject to years of experience and promotion which could improve pay.
But if u are out side Naija pay rates are much higher with better recpect.
In uk minimun pay is 12-15 pounds per hr.
In the US mnimum pay is 20-25 dollars per hour
Common man, the new minimum wage is 18k for anybody in Civil Service so how will a professional like a Nurse earn anything less than that?

Indeed. In a land where very few are genuinely principled , I wonder how some can have a problem with what Ribadu has done now. I would have had a problem if , straightaway, and like all the other desperado, Ribadu begins to ingratiate himself to GEJ merely because he wants to 'eat' . Instead the man chose the path of dignity in falling back on his core area of expertise to put food on the table for his family. How many Nigerians who participated in politics , aside the likes of Okonjo-Iweala, have done that or are even willing to do that ? Many would be busy kissing GEJ butt right now !!!!

There is no indication Ribadu will not be back playing politics in future. We can see he is already maturing with how he never made "do or die" noise and did not malign anybody. He did not heat up the polity which is what sensible politicians should do i.e only talk later when things have calmed down . He has not accused GEJ of election rigging . He kept his opinion to himself as per the election Instead he quietly took up his UN assignment without fanfare. I really don't know how Ribadu could have behaved more exemplary given what we have always seen from our politicians who have no dignity or pride.
Unlike Bakare who used his mouth to run down the alliance. I commend Ribadu for taking a bow when the ovation was loud. Those who run away to fight today, they live to fight in 2015 God's willing.
