I believe he is smarter than most of think. For him to make this decision he has covered all his bases. After seeing how GEJ is been treated by the same man who was appointed head of negotiation committee for ECOWAS,he had to take this decision to save his neck and prestige. Not everyone is as docile as GEJ. Weak, ineffectual analysis. Assad has mouth because of Russia's backing. Who is backing Jammeh? |

AdoptedSon: Today, I was reading one the national dailies and I read Henry Boyo's columnEconomic Renaissance. The Man is, without doubt, an acme of an economic master. Some of the points I could point out include:
1. 2017 budget is a rushed budget; take it or leave it: "the success of any fiscal plan will correlate with level of attention to details in the budget process." This budget without "meticulous planning" is just a replica of other failed budgets.
2. The capital vote of N2.24tn is not the largest ever capital allocation (in real value terms): In the past one year we have recorded huge fall in the price of naira against dollar. with the current exchange rate of N500 to $1, the real money value of the capital allocation is smaller than the previous year's when the dollar rate was way lesser and bearable. This infact speaks volume as Nigeria may be visit the LOAN market.
3.The Education allocation is very low- a meagre <6% was given to the education sector as against 26% recommendation by UNESCO. AT what time will our lawmakers see the IMMEASURABLE VALUE OF EDUCATION TO NATION BUILDING? This is entirely lugubrious with 143+ universities, many other tertiary institutions not even found on the global ranking table. we need a revolution!
4. The proposed 7.3tn Budget may lose 20% of its value to inflation.
5.Are you really included in the budget? I am waiting for the time where there will be Human Development allocations, Startup funding and SMEs allocation well spelt out and not concealed under some "flowery phrases" engineered by "you-know-whos."
We can only remain optimistic. Fellow Nigerians, what do you think can be done to improve the situation?
Special Thanks: Henry Boyo for his article," The dark side of the 2017 budget."
I remain theolajide. Lalasticlala, Please forward it to frontpage for maximum participation of all Nigerians Pretty shallow analysis. Lacks the basic premise of qualifying and quantifying required of a solid critique. No 1 does not tell us why the budget was rushed nor compares to any specific years that are "failed budgets. No 2 You again failed to measure the yardstick for arriving at the faulty conclusion. Providing the real value in comparison to a specific period is what is expected here. What parameters of comparison are you using? Inflation? Consumer Purchase Index? FX rates? No 3 How many nations in the same economic bracket as Nigeria adhere to UNESCO's 26% requirement? How about comparing apples with apples next time? Also in analysis or when crticising, stick to a writing style that does helps you communicate clearly rather than using anarchaic words in the attempt to sound smart. No 4 You pull out parameters such as 20% inflation just because an Economist said so. Include your corroborating or independent research else you come across as a copy and paste reviewer. 10 Economists can be askee to forecast macro economic scenarios for a situation and all 10 will come up with 10 totally different analysis. You goofed when you could not put up any statistical guide that informed your conclusion. No 5. Your last conclusion about no SME component is rather faulty considering the numerous opportunities available such as BOI backed programs, N-Power to mention a few that are directly funded by the social inclined budget. Give your analysis a reboot, this initial one doesn't cut it. |

Whether he will escape is another kettle of fish entirely. On the other hand, considering his professional background as a CFA, I doubt that any of his financial dealings as a governor will ever run foul of the law. This is a guy that worked day to day for years managing the management accounts for a corporate American entity. They make you see only what you need to see. His major investment rests in Alpha-Beta Consulting via proxies. Try conducting a search if you can trace ownership to him. Nada. Oh, by the way, Alpha-Beta as the IT consultant processing tax receipts for several State governments earn 5-10% on each N1 processed through it. Think of 5% of trillions earned since 2003 when the company came into existence. So, Jagaban will unlikely be prosecuted for his tenure as governor but most, as a conduit for buying judgement |

Certainly this is a very rough estimate and there are a significant number outside this band. However, I believe this is the minimum amount a Lagosian will spend daily. |

Family › Re: My brother is driving me nut - How Should I Handle This Family Issue? by Paentera(m): 11:38pm On Sep 11, 2016 |
robedu: I graduated quite early and at 22 i already had an okay job, my education was miraculously funded with the little meaner jobs i was doing from house girl to sale's girl, typist etc.
So when i had a job, i decided to help my other siblings both younger and elder ones get qualitative education, for 4 years i work solely to pay their fees, i had no savings, so finally last year the last one standing graduated and i thought i was going to breath fresh air.
One came to stay with me, my immediate elder brother, after his NYSC he started job hunting and couldnt get any, he came to me to explain that he wants to go into photography, that he will use that to establish himself since there are no jobs coming forth, i went ahead to buy expensive photo camera, photo light, printers and all sort of photography stuff for him. weeks pass, months pass without him making any good out of the photography business, i keep on advising him and all.
But early this year when my car started having issues, i decided to change the car, when he saw that i wanted to buy a new car, he came to me to explain that the photography business is not moving, and that i should buy a car that will be accepted in Uber, so he can be driving the car for Uber transport at the weekends when i will not be using the car, initially the car i wanted to buy wasn't uber spec, i wanted to get Lexus 350 or Prius, but because of the way he pleaded with me, i decided to buy camry 2010 which was uber spec so he can use it.
After i got the car, i taught him how to drive and he started driving the car during the weekend, later he came to tell me he can be using the car in the afternoon when i am at work then he will drop me in the morning and pick me up in the evening. this was the hardest part, i couldnt bear not having a car to move around for lunch or client meetings in the afternoon, then he begged me that if i allow him use the car in the day, in 6 months he will make enough money to buy his own car and leave me alone.
So i agreed to allow him use the car in the afternoon, it was the toughest decision have made in my life, I could no longer go for lunch except with one of my colleagues, i had to hire other uber taxi for client meetings, i couldnt have my life like before, but the troubled part was the fact that my brother became arrogant, to even take me to work with my own car became so difficult, he will hurry me to do quick let him drop me else he is going to leave me at home, he doesnt come to pick me anymore from work, i remember the day i had to wait till 11.30pm in the office because the rain was falling and he said i should just find my way, life became so difficult but i was going to bear it for the next 6 months.
But unfortunately, 3 months after he didnt come home that night but that was not the first time he will sleep out so i thought it was his usual ways, i use public transport that day to work, in the office one of his friend called that he had accident and the police said i should come, i went there and the DPO told me why i had to leave my car for somene who is so irresponsible, that he was so drunk last night when he ran into another car, he could not deny that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, i had to start begging the police who refuse to listen to our plea.
He was taken to court where i was ask to bail him out with 50,000, i spend alot of money trying to bury the case, then I had to pay all sort of damages before taking the two cars (the one he hits and my own) to repair, while all of these lasted my head was banging and i was really stressed.
After all of these the car is still being fixed at the mechanic workshop, my brother has not seen anything wrong in all he has done, no sorry whatsoever, instead he came to challenge me to hurry the mechanic to finish up repairs on time so he can start work.
I was thinking that i will not give him the car anymore, but my sister was begging i let go.
What do you think i should do. Roberta Its time to chin up and let your brother man up. To do this, you will gift him that car. Call a meeting of your siblings and let them know this is the last you will do for bros because he must leave his own life and you must live yours. Give him the car, but on the condition that if he collects it, he can never approach you for anything else in the next five years. In fact, call the police as a witness so he knows you're not kidding. You are a resourceful young woman and the earlier you stop being an ATM for your siblings, the earlier you'll be able to grow your media business. |

Sashafm: I am about to get a car, and the option available to me is to get a manual car which is 2 million lesser or I go for the same car but the automatic version. I am quite concerned because of the price of the car but my colleagues are advising me not to even think about the manual car because of traffic. I am of the opinion that I can learn how to drive the manual car and not get too stressed while driving. Please I need advice from experienced drivers, is driving a manual car that terrible in Lagos? If you are like me who encounters less than 10% of the regular traffic that Lagosians face driving to work, a manual transmission gear would be fine. I enjoy it as it gives me full control of the power of the vehicle. In the alternative, if you must go for an Automatic transmission gear, ask for one that has CVT. Politics › Re: Nigeria’s 2016 Worst Performing Governors by Paentera(m): 7:29pm On Aug 04, 2016 |
dubemnaija: Here is the list of Nigeria's worst performing Governors of 2016. A lot of factors were used in getting to the above.
1. Yahaya Bello of Kogi state Kogi state, once Nigeria’s seat of capital is now in ruins. From Ejule to Lokoja and beyond, from infrastructure to the economy, the state’s government has done little or nothing in shaping up the lives of its citizens. There are no good roads in the state, no viable commercial activities; state government paid staff and pensioners hasn’t been paid in months; to say that the governor is a monumental failure will be a ‘light praise.’
2. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State The senator turned governor is amongst the worst performing governors in Nigeria. With all the huge funds accrued to to the state, Delta state capital Asaba in terms of infrastructural development is very backward. There are no good roads in the town, no drainage, no light and No water. The government has also done nothing in salvaging the precarious security situation of the state. Delta state has always been plagued with bad leaders whom are after their pockets. Mr Okowa should map out ways in dealing with the insecurity and embarking on massive infrastructural projects in the oil rich state.
3. Samuel Ortom of Benue state Benue state governor has gotten himself a slot in the league of the worst performing governors. Since his inception into office, the ex-minister has not initiated or executed any viable project in his state. More so, the marauding Fulani herdsmen have been killing the people of the state in their thousands, and homes and villages been sacked. The governor has done nothing in securing his people against the killers. Until he initiates policies that will bring in goodies to the state, he will be in our list of worst performing governors in Nigeria.
4. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti The Ekiti state governor has recently been in the news and media on issues bothering the wife of the president. The governor who believes in stomach infrastructure politics have not been doing what a state chief executive ought to be doing. Instead, he choose to do the work of his party’s spokesperson. He attacks the president at any slightest opportunity instead of bringing up projects that will uplift the state. Ekiti is the poorest and the least developed state in the southwest and one of the poorest In Nigeria and as long as the current governor continues to ignore embarking on capital projects in the state, it will remain so for a very long time to come.
5. Abdulfatah Ahmed of kwara state The governor of the north central state is not experienced on the issues of state leadership and good governance. One is expected that the state with abundant material and human resources should naturally be leading the pack, but it is not so. Instead, he chooses to become the official stooge of Nigeria’s senate president, Mr Saraki. Since he assumed office years back, the state has not experienced any significant growth that translated into the well-being of its citizens. Recently, news of foods being stolen from fire in the state was in the media, leading many to conclude that the hunger in the state was in massive scale. They are all correct. Ahmed needs to step up his game and better the lives of his people.
6. Darius Ishaku of Taraba state Some would say that the man is taking his time resting after the narrow defeat he gave his rival Mrs Aisha Alhassan. The governor does not have what it takes to lead a state. I suggest he arms himself with advisers and commissioners that knows what it takes to deliver. No single road has been built in Jalingo or anywhere else in the state. The healthcare rating of the state has dropped, and the Education sector is in near comatose. Security has also worsened, and like his neighbor counterpart Mr Ortom, Darius Ishaku is clueless in tackling insecurity and other economic downturns in the state.
7. Tanko AL-makura of Nasarawa Nasarawa state should be one of the best states in Nigeria in terms of revenue drive/generation and infrastructural growth, taking its proximity to Abuja as an advantage, but reverse is the case. It is one of the poorest state, north of Nigeria. The governor does not know what it means to prioritize needs. A governor that once wanted to embark on the construction of a cargo airport in the state without standard markets and commercial activities taking place in it. State and local government workers haven’t been paid for months in the state, and no viable project have been commissioned in the state since 2014; one wonders where all the revenue accrued to the state goes. Tanko is one of the governors that squanders federal government allocations on frivolities.
8. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state Talking about total cluelessness in governance, The Enugu state governor sits on-top. The governor of the coal city state has done virtually nothing since he came into power a year ago. Whatever there is now in Enugu state was done by his predecessors. He is said to be the most ‘’dormant’’ governor in the southeast of NIGERIA. The vibrant capital of the old eastern region, touted to be the entertainment hub of the southeast is now turning to a shadow of its old self. Watchers have started speculating about the possibility of the governor in securing a second term for himself come 2019.
9. Shettima of Borno State
Mr shettima presides over the affairs of the state ravaged by terrorism and insurgency. Since Nigerians (and the world) is more interested in getting to stop the insurgency, his non-performance and cluelessness have been overlooked. The economic and commercial activities in the once Home of Peace is now at a stand-still, and nothing has been done by the governor. His reasons for his non performance is Insecurity, but that shouldn't be the case. Shettima should draw up reconstruction plans and makes sure he sticks his nose into it, till total reconstruction is achieved. He should leave fighting terrorism for the federal government and focus on developmental plans.
N/B: As a blogger, I've been to all 36 states of Nigeria and including the FCT. The compilation was based on what I saw on ground and all other relevant yardsticks.
Source: http://www.dubemnaija.com/2016/08/nigerias-2016-worst-performing-governors.html You either are unable to express yourself and what exactly is on ground or is missing in these States you have mentioned or you are simply an attention seeker. The write up lacks any substance and the writer for lack of a vast vocabulary resorts to insults and abuse of the person of the governors rather than indicate the standard or yardstick for measurement for performance and then attempt to explain how these governors and their cabinets fall short. All in order to click bait the public, the blogger attempts to write up about governors and uses his/her own invisible criteria to rout the governors while being unable to properly present facts to back his/her claims. How sad and shameful. |

You did not tell us your location but let me assume that you are in Lagos. Your remedy is already captured by the Tenancy law which placed a fine of N250k or three months imprisonment on any landlord that uses self-help in ejecting his/her tenant.
If you have the money and the time, file a criminal complaint at the nearest police station for it to be taken up from there.
Your landlady should have served you six months notice and after its expiration, give you 7 days owner's intention to apply to recover possession. Then if you still refuse or ignore to give possession, she can then approach court to get a valid order to eject you. We should stop celebrate illegality on the alter of sentiment, whatever you permit will increase.
Kindly take note also that you will also pay for every other days you stay in the house after 31st of May and also pay for all the utility bills.
One woman tried this with one of my clients, she will never try it again in her life after I was through with her. In the case where the poster never mentioned ejection, how did you come to that conclusion that this is the reason the gate was locked? |
