Ejimagift: Why can't Buhari ban senate and house of representatives. We don't need those arms of government when we have a competent president like Buhari. Senate is wasting the country's resources on frivolous unproductive meetings. Demolish the senate just like Senegalese government did Consider that democracy is a system where there must be representatives of the people at parliament, then it goes to say that this is practically impossible. |

wirinet: When the case get to court, it depends on the strength of the arguments of the lawyer. The Ikeja Disco officials might have started the fracas. They might be accused of trespass as the have no rights to even enter a private property without authorization. They most likely did not give the owners of the flat notice they are coming into the compound. Trespass is not an excuse for assault and battery especially when there are no weapons in sight to qualify for self defence. |
Crime › Re: Family Members Fighting NEPA Officials Over Cutting Their Light In Ikeja, Lagos by Paentera(m): 11:40pm On Jan 31, 2019 |
wirinet: Which duty are they carrying out? Is it their duty to steal from ordinary suffering Nigerians? You must be a staff of one of those criminal Disco companies. Give meters, dem no gree. Provide regular power, babu. But at the end of the month they bring outrageous estimated bills. The worst is that a few days after bringing criminal bills, they would be carrying ladder up and down threatening you with disconnection, even though NERC has given them guidelines for disconnecting customers. Notice must be given before disconnecting a customer, but these criminals would come when no one is at home and just disconnect without notice.
If you know the amount of fraud these Discos are perpetuating, you will advocate for them to be given the China treatment. Where I work is irrelevant at this time. I have stated that a civil offence has occured and from experience, the next step that the DISCO will embark upon is as I explained. You might want to also learn to separate the incidence from your sentiments and feelings. It will not affect the outcome of those affected in the brawl. |
Crime › Re: Family Members Fighting NEPA Officials Over Cutting Their Light In Ikeja, Lagos by Paentera(m): 9:32pm On Jan 31, 2019 |
Assault
Simple. At least one of the family members will end up with a conviction and at least a 3 months jail term. The lady in question fighting the Ikeja Electric staff will be used as a scapegoat for those within that area who might attempt such in the future.
As usual, the neighborhood will send emissaries to the company to BEG but considering that not nipping such acts in the bud with a solid prosecution case, will give many more the effrontery to continue such assault on the staff of the company simply carrying out their duties of disconnection, it is guaranteed that she and any others caught in this heinous act will be prosecuted with the full weight of the law.
Fighting in public is still a civil offence and assault and battery is another. No dey fight DISCO staff, they are only carrying out their duties. Where you might have had a situation where they demanded money from you - record such if possible and forward such to the HEAD OFFICE. |

TheGreenLand: Oh boy! We are talking of almost a billion here mehn! Your maths is wrong. Assuming an average of N20m per vehicle (very over exagerrated), 25 cars totals N500million Max for the total haul will be N250million to N350million if the spec of the Mercs are considered. That 2015 Honda Accord at brand new is $33,000 so I reckon at the moment inculsive of clearing cannot be more than $28,000 max. Apply same pricing to the Corolla and other models. So not a billion sir. Even at full price, these fraudstars would have successully laundered max N350,000,000 or $1,000,000. |

FabulousAutos: If I spend 33 percent on rent, l doubt if I'll have enough left to attend to other necessities including children's school fees, entertainment, vehicle etc. I think you misread my comment. The premise is that you do not EXCEED 33%...this is how banks determine if the income of an individual is adequate to cover monthly mortgage payments. |

marshborn: Good evening nairalanders, I earn 100k a month which amounts to 1.2 million per annum. I just secured an apartment in yaba which cost 300k per year. I chose yaba because of its proximity to the island which is where i work.
I want to know if the rent costs too much for someone of my status.
Am I about to start living above my means? Advice needed. As a rule of thumb in finance, your rent should not exceed 33% of your income. Going by this rule, 33% of N1,200,000 is N396,000 thus your rent is largely within this bracket and in order. |

TissuePaper: Hello fellow nairalanders and business men, I was at the verge of making my first million naira early this year but I got carried away by the euphoria and made some bad investments which later backfired and left me bankrupt... However, I'm recuperating now, and I just wanted to know at what age you guys made your first million naira and how you did it or the investments you made.
This is just to serve as a motivation to our young and upcoming brothers and sisters still in the labor market struggling to make ends meet.
Thanks Once upon a HYIP, I made my first million at age 28. I spent it on my tuition for my MSc. It took me another three years to become one again once I started a business. I can confirm that making a million and staying a millionaire are totally different things and the later is much more tougher though once you get a hang of it and a formula for it, you certainly will keep growing it. The better you are able to manage the formula, the quicker you can hit the next milestone - tens of million, hundreds of millions and the unicorn billion. |
Culture › Re: Igbo Monarchs Set To End The Osu Caste System Come December 28 by Paentera(m): 11:56pm On Nov 12, 2018 |
gudluckgreat: May I ask you a question? Why did God clearly point out to Abraham to never let his descendants marry from the people of Cannan? Were those people created by the devil or is it to say that of all the people in the nations of Cannan, there can never be found a worthy maiden to marry? In essence, the Bible which you quote but does not apply to 4/5 of the world's population that are non Christian is now absolute? |
Culture › Re: Igbo Monarchs Set To End The Osu Caste System Come December 28 by Paentera(m): 6:17pm On Nov 10, 2018 |
Sanchez01: This makes sense. Unfortunately, the Osu Caste system isn't going away anytime soon, not even after the slated date.
The practice is somewhat dogmatic that some so-called religious people have not been able to drop it in the name of their fate.
Save there is a mass mind purge, so many families will still hold this 'tradition' dearly, particularly when it bothers around marriage and fellowship. I once asked an Igbo colleague at work about her take on the OSU system and why it continues being practiced and from her explanation and all the curses she believes will befall any family that marries into another OSU family, I doubt this cleansing on December 28 will make much of a difference for the fact that the mindset developed by a cultural practice is far more difficult to eradicate than envisaged. That day ehn, despite she being a staunch Catholic Christian, she was unable to see beyond her own nose that before God, an OSU is as equal to her. She recalled and backed up her belief with several incidences and stories that occurred simply because one of the persons involved is OSU. Nothing I said to counter this, including that God created us all equal before Him, could convince her. I will ask her in the coming week and I can guess her response - she will never allow her only daughter to marry an OSU - cleansing or no cleansing. I can bet that this mindset is replicated across many homes of other Igbos more out of fear of the unknown (largely unjustified and unfounded). To get rid of that mindset will take a LONG time - I reckon another 50 years to completely let go. |

TimeMachine: Bravo !
It is the bravast News I have read today!
IPOB was proscribed even though it is a Peaceful Movement of A People. An Indigenous People. It was called a Terorist Organisation and the Leader was 'killed'.
He resurrected at the 'Holy Land' yesterday and the whole Nigeria shake at the News. Marveled that the dreaded Nnamdi Kanu, the Savior of the Igbo People is 'alive' and 'Praying'.
Today, FFK has announced the best news ever.
IPOB will see to it, that not one vote goes from South East and South South to Buhari. Even Peter Obi will "pop champagne" on this piece of burger-like news.
As Election approaches, I can not sit on the fence when it comes to voting, but as always, I will always sit on the fences when it comes to political issues.
Atiku has 'eaten' Nigeria's money, we know. But he has a day job, where he 'turned black money white' and employ a few thousands. But what of the Ancestor in Chief, the Trumpeted Lifeless One, The Herdsman-In-Chief of 150 Cattle Squadron of Daura, that never multiplies ? He has no day job since he was born.
If Nnamdi Kanu has learnt any lesson, from the last debacle, it will be that Peaceful Agitation is good, it is the way of the literate people, but the results almost always ends like the Violent Agitations. Effectlessness. That is my word.
It is time to toe the middle line. Make IPOB a Political Organization for the Biafran People. Configure them to vote for Atiku, if Atiku is serious about Political and Economic Restructuring, then we can see how each zone can keep their resources to themselves and make Abuja a city for the Lifeless Ones.
That is the hope for the New One Nigeria.
Who ever does not agree with me is politically foolish, but I will like to respond to any other opposing view, especially the very ignorant ones. How do you go to bed at night after typing out this sort of trash? |

Alary: Reno and people commenting here are just fool or something. So when someone is dead the case against him is dead too, is it only travel ban the list is taking about or that there properties that were illegally gotten will be confiscated by the government . So there is nothing wrong in listing a dead person iname because our yam is still with his family . Glad to see that well thought through comments still exist on Nairaland. The Executive Order 6 isn't about limiting travelling only, it covers access to stolen properties & assets. The properties & stolen loot are still in the possession of the dead man's estate. Bank accounts, landed properties, houses will remain restricted from being sold off pending determination that such a case brought against the dead man is valid or not. Until then, the illicit funds & assets in his estate remains off limits. |
