PatrickOkunima:
Considering that we're in a faceless forum, I won't be surprised if you're not half as educated as myself, yet you accuse me of lacking the intellect to discuss a subject as rudimentary as this.

Yes, I wrote that, but most of the people quoting me, yourself inclusive took my comment out of context. Ideally, the CBN should be generating revenue for the government, but in reality are they? To start with, can you show me a proof of CBN's revenue contribution to the annual budget? Do that and I'll take you seriously.

For the records, I am not your average Nigerian graduate. If it were possible, I would have called that a public test be organized between you and me, an avenue for me to place you where you rightly belong intellectually. Besides, that, I don't have to prove anything to you. Have a wonderful day.
Chief, on one hand, you have not displayed enough depth as the intellectual you have claimed to be. On the other hand, tests are basically yardsticks for intelligence which you may have, however I truly doubt your intellectual credentials as you have failed to exhibit tact necessary for discussions in matters you have little knowledge about.

Intellectuals have open minds to absorb new knowledge. CBN has financials on their website, it will not take you more than a few minutes to check how much they remitted to the government as a surplus in their last financial year. Considering how skeptical you have been, anyone presenting proof to you will not be believed so the onus rests on you to do some digging and discover the truth by yourself.

Babinski:
IPPIS is not a scam. It is the selective implementation that should be questioned and corrected. The reason given for not including CBN, NNPC and FIRS is not valid.

A business entity does not consist only of marketers or sales people. Everyone is important. To make a rule that sales people pay themselves from sales because they generate revenue and should not be subject to general company payroll is very bad and selective business policy!
I actively scout NL for in-depth analogies and principles that tackle issues correctly identified and in a manner bereft of bias. Your observation and analogy is valid and spot on.

Now, I believe the spokesperson for IPPIS gave room for your observation by explaining that these will possibly be brought on board in the near future at the behest of the Executive who gave this same order. On the other hand, his premise for signing up those specifically drawing from the Consolidated Fund first is also valid and should be considered as some level of priority before signing up those who draw their pay from the revenue they generate.

It is obvious that with BVN, TIN and NIN all converging, a lot of loopholes and dodgy streams will be eliminated.
BusinessRe: Why Onyema Was Flagged By The US - Advice From A US Based Business Man. by Paentera(m): 11:45am On Nov 25, 2019
omomummy13:
That Airpeace Chairman's US Indictment.

From the desk of Nat Cole:

After reading the press release on the US indictment of Airpeace Chairman, his initial response or reaction and his Nigeria Attorney's Office Press Release I find the case interesting especially as an Anti Money Laundering Specialist. I find the indictment of Onyema very problematic. I read his short response and his attorney's press release to the charges and I find both to be even more problematic because they failed to address the main issues at hand among which are 27 counts of Money Laundering charges. That is a lot of charges. Please note that he is presumably innocent until proven guilty. Onyema saying that the charges are just mere allegations shows how uninformed he is on such matters and I am sure he will soon find out that these are not mere allegations but serious allegations that may send him to jail under the US criminal justice system and not Nigeria.

With these charges coming from the combined efforts of these US government Agencies such as the US Attorney's Office and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division, it is not a good sign. These agencies do not make frivolous charges and are dead serious with these types of high profile indictments. If I were advising Onyema I will caution him and he should be very careful and note that playing to the gallery in Nigeria will not help his cause here in the US. Especially when the criminal justice system has been on a roll to go after some folks that use the US banking system to further their business interests albeit illegally. The source of the funds matters and how such are obtained especially when such are transacted in US dollars via US bank accounts and from a country whose Anti Money Laundering profile is not robust is a very big red flag. As we say in a Nigerian parlance, my folks wahala dey!. Meaning there is a big problem here for Onyema.

Furthermore, the indictment did not say that Onyema and his companies failed to use the CBN. So, him saying that he used the CBN as part of his defense is irrelevant because that is not what the indictment is all about. This is a distraction from the main issues at hand in my opinion. I know it is a public relations nightmare for Onyema but he needs to understand that that the combined team of US agencies he is dealing with do not make mere allegations and until they are pretty certain they will not go for an indictment not to mention 27 counts on Money Laundering alone.

For starters, let us take a look at the indictment with particular emphasis on the parts relating to Money Laundering. The others relating to aggravated identity theft and bank fraud are pretty straight forward. If false or falsified documents are used to procure foreign exchange as alleged in the indictment it is a criminal offence here in the US. Unlike in Nigeria were falsifying documents are common place in the banking system but in the US it is frowned upon more than in Nigeria. Looking at the indictment:

1. We have 27 counts of Money Laundering against him.

2. Onyema allegedly used falsified documents to support his applications to obtain millions of dollars in foreign exchange via Letters of Credit transactions. The key thing here is falsified documents to obtain millions of dollars in foreign exchange from the CBN at a very favorable exchange rate for the purpose of purchasing aircrafts. Did he use falsified documents or not?

3. That the letters of credits were used to obtain and transfer more than $20 million dollars into Atlanta based bank accounts controlled by Onyema. Meaning that the letters of credit transactions were strictly for the benefit of Onyema and not any third party business enterprise.

4. Springfield Aviation Company LLC registered in Georgia is owned by Onyema. That the purported company called Springfield Aviation that Onyema purportedly claimed to purchase the aircrafts from is owned and controlled by him. He controlled both the source and destination of the funds but such were hidden under false pretext as if he was doing business with a third party. That is a Money Laundering offence.

5. In addition, Springfield Aviation never owned the aircrafts Onyema was reportedly buying with these letters of credit from Springfield. Ownership of aircrafts such as these are easy to establish and I am sure that the US government agencies would easily have ascertained this fact. Moreover, tax and regulatory papers filed would have disclosed that Springfield Aviation does not have such assets to sell. If they did sell them the IRS would have been aware of such transactions as profit from the transactions would be reported on its tax returns. Obviously it seemed that this was not the case. I believe that this is part of the reasons why the IRS Criminal Investigation (CI) Division was involved in this investigation. When the CI is involved then you have to be concerned. I have worked with them and they do not play or fool around with frivolities.

6. Furthermore, the company that Onyema must have claimed in bank documents that allegedly drafted the appraisals presumably to appraise the value of the aircrafts he purportedly was buying did not exist. While such dubious appraisals and non existent appraisal company may fool the CBN, it will not fly here in the US where the existence of such can be easily confirmed. This will be a very easy thing to prove in my opinion. This alone will be difficult to disprove if the agencies are correct about this assertion. I have no reason to believe that they would not have confirmed that there is no such company in their jurisdiction.

7. That over $3.00 million of the funds used to purchase the aircrafts allegedly came from the bank accounts of NGOs controlled by Onyema. Please note that the NGOs are not Aviation related companies. Namely, the NGOs are:

(a) Foundation for Ethnic Harmony
(b) Center for Non-Violence and Peace Development
(c) Every Child Limited and
(d) A media organisation called All-Time Peace Media Communications Limited.

These are all organisations not involved in Aviation but money from them allegedly used to pay for aircrafts purchased by Onyema according to the indictment. These organisations are what we call front companies used in perpetuating the Money Laundering scheme according to the indictment. The law frowns seriously at these and these types of schemes involving front companies are difficult to disprove especially when they are not even involved in Aviation or Aircrafts maintenance or purchase.

The important thing to note is that Onyema talking about not using any bank money to fund his aircraft purchases is irrelevant because that was not alleged. But using or obtaining foreign exchange in dollars under false pretences with funds from these NGOs and media organisation he controlled to obtain millions of dollars in funds through letters of credit using the US banks is a Money Laundering offence in the US. Some of these transactions may have been done the so-called "Nigerian way" and it does not make them legal by an stretch of the imagination here in the US.

I noticed that Onyema did not say that he did not use falsified documents to obtain millions of dollars in letters of credit used for transferring these funds to the US via the CBN. This is part of the crux of the matter. Use of falsified documents in the process is called fraud and a Money Laundering offence. This is about data mining and very good forensic work to unveil all the documents used in the process of obtaining the foreign exchange and disbursements of the funds in the US.

As we can now see that Onyema's initial reaction failed to address these issues but it addresses non issues that really has no direct impact on the alleged infractions committed by him in Atlanta, Georgia. We shall see how this indictment evolves if this case goes to trial. From my point of view and with the little information put out by the US Attorney's Office the case does not look good at all for the CEO of Airpeace, Mr. Onyema.

He also claimed that the US government will find no dirt on him and that he Onyema has not been involved in any illegalities as he put it. This cannot be true because the US government already found dirt on him and this is the reason why he was indicted. It is now left for the US Courts and not the US government to clear him of the dirt or charges.

Secondly, even if he was not personally involved directly in these illegal activities the fact that he is the beneficial owner of all these transactions will definitely make him culpable if such can be proven in court. Knowing how this works it may be easy to prove that Onyema is the beneficial owner and according to the law he could be found guilty of Money Laundering offence here in the US. In Money Laundering schemes the issue of the beneficial owner is part of the game. Yes you may have a front company or individuals doing the dirty things but if you are the beneficial owner you are as good as doing it yourself here in the US or even in Nigeria. That is the way this works. The Mafia bosses now know this after the infamous gangster Al Capone was eventually found guilty in one of the most famous Money Laundering cases of our time here in the US. Onyema should be talking to a good criminal defense attorney involved in Anti Money Laundering cases not just any attorney.

Finally, until we see the actual court documents my feeling is that there may be other charges lurking around in the background either for Onyema or other individuals that may unfold in the coming days. However, I sure hope that I am wrong about this. Unfortunately the image of the Nigerian business man continues to be battered even before their guilt or innocence is established. The reality is that this case may be a good candidate for plea bargain in my opinion.

BusinessRe: Allen Onyema And Egahaga Should Resign During The Fraud Trial To Save Air Peace by Paentera(m): 10:56am On Nov 25, 2019
Atouke:
In order to save the airlines image and allow it to run freely during the period that the fraud trial of the two individual will last in the US courts,
The best thing would be for the its chairman and CFO Allen onyema and Egahaga to step down from their roles in the company pending their clearance from court of all corrupt charges.

Mr onyema who is a patriotic Nigerian that has created many jobs for Nigerians and West African and loves his people should allow that love for country to drive him to resign and save the company reputation from fraud until he is cleared from the allegations which I hope he will be cleared.

In the meantime his wife is the Vice chairman of air peace, she can take over as chairman and another person can take over as CFO of the airline pending their clearance.
This is the standard practice worldwide. If this is done it will in the meantime save the airlines a lot of trouble as they can open fresh business account in the USA devoid of signatories of people facing financial fraud charges in the US courts.
This will enhance the operational efficiency of the airline.

Mr Onyema and Egahaga would now use the time away from the daily demands from the airline operations to focus squarely on the case against them.
By setting up a top US criminal defense team made of US lawyers, not the ones that am seeing making weak statements on Nigerian media.

This case might likely take a while for the trial to be concluded, so to save his company during this trial period, he should do the honorable thing by resigning as that will not be an admission of guilt but a strategic move to save Airpeace.

Once that is done the fraud case will now involve former Air Peace chairman and former CFO thereby creating the needed seperation for the Airline.
This should have been an immediate act if there was corporate governance in place represented by a Board of Directors.

Let us hope that the man is able to seek and heed solid advice.

Exactly why the Americans are baffled! Why would a man launder his own money or shortchange a company that belongs to him by charging a commission for each plane purchased...except if the money is not actually his!!!

If so, then there's a likelihood that the funds are laundered on behalf of someone who the Americans are interested in unravelling hence why a large part the charges in the indictment is primarily focused on money laundering.

A Press Release by the US Government through its Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office in Northern District of Georgia has indicted MD & CEO of Air Peace for bank fraud and money laundering. shocked shocked shocked

The press release emphasised that "Members of the public are reminded that the indictment only contains charges. The defendants are presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government’s burden to prove the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Commerce, and Department of Treasury are investigating this case."

However, this is can be considered a sad day for Nigerian Aviation industry as the indictment casts negative perception on the business and its promoter, Chief Allen Onyeama.

120 of these projects had been fully paid for yet zero execution. This was uncovered via the help of BVN that tied all the outflows via several shell companies to a single BVN.

Nigerian child stars and what they look like now.

These are some of the most popular Nigerian child stars from tv and music.

TV

1) Uze (Yomi Adeyemi-Wilson) in THIRD EYE.

This was one of the best detective series on the NTA. Olu Jacobs was a police detective who had a very special little helper that assisted him in unravelling the most difficult cases. His very intelligent little daughter (Yomi Adeyemi-Wilson) would always provide a different perspective that would assist him in catching criminals (she often did this unknowingly).

The only flaw in this show was that the NTA continued to portray Yomi Adeyemi-Wilson as a Home Science pupil even when she had moved on to QC (this was in the last 2 or 3 years of the show). You could tell that she was past primary school age.

Her father is Engineer Yomi Adeyemi-Wilson who was the spokesman for Mobil Nigeria, first CEO of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and former President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

Third Eye was originally aired between c1989-c1994 and this is how Yomi Awosope (nee Adeyemi-Wilson) looks like now (if I remember correctly, she attended Home Science, Queens College and Unilag [law).

Yomi and Niyi Awosope.

2) Omotara (Farida Sanusi) in THE REIGN OF ABIKU.

Everybody preferred NTA 2 Channel 5 to NTA Channel 10 in the 1980s, but Channel 10 had a knack for producing phenomenal entries for the Nigerian Festival of Television Programmes (NIFETEP). This was one of the best entries ever (it was Channel 10's entry in the 1985 or 1986 edition).

Omotara was a sweet little girl during the day, but she had some really scary friends that visited her every night. Farida Sanusi's acting was superb, especially during the deliverance session. I'm sure you can remember her growling.

I think The Reign of Abiku and The Pot Of Life (NTA Benin/1987) are the best Nifetep entries ever.

That was 30 years ago. This is what she looks like now (she is now an accountant and fitness instructor).

3) Genevieve Nnaji in RIPPLES.

Ripples (c1988-c1994) was the hottest soap on Nigerian tv in 1988, but it was soon overshadowed by Behind The Clouds (1989) and Checkmate (1991). I didn't watch many episodes of Ripples beyond 1988 (after that I only watched it when everybody else was talking about something that happened on the show), so I'm struggling to remember the storyline, but I'll give it my best shot.

The lead actor (in the beginning) was Sola Fosudo. He was a rich playboy who always had problems with his wife (I think Yetunde Idowu acted as his wife) who was a lawyer. They had a daughter and I think he also had a girlfriend. Anyway, he died in a car crash and the show then focused on the problems that his wife encountered after his death (especially from the evil Talab Abass [played by Alex Usifo Omiagbo). That little daughter was 8 year old Genevieve Nnaji and here's how she looks like now.

I had to create a new account for this

I don't know how to get through to my wife anymore, of which the fault is mine, when we were dating, she showed that she was committed to me and loved me wholeheartedly but I was reluctant to marry her cos she was of age, I wanted someone younger, say under 25, but something important that i have to acquire made me marry all of a sudden and she was the only one available, don't get me wrong, I loved her then, her peaceful and humble soul but for some reason I simply can't understand I felt she wasn't enough, but I was wrong, she was perfect, the best I can ever wish for and more, she is everything,

After we got married, you know newlyweds now, the quarrels about every little thing, it was much then, so this particular incident made me so worked up and angry I made a statement I shouldnt have said, during the heated argument I told her that she was never who I would have married, that she wasn't my specs, she was too old (31 lol) that if someone younger was available I wouldn't blink twice before I'll marry the person.

After saying all that, I wasn't sober about it, she held on to that statement, I knew she cried that night, since then we don't talk, play, gist anymore, we became distant, though I apologised the next morning but things isn't just the same anymore, communication isn't there, she only talks to me when she wants to ask or say necessary things, nothing more, though she still cooks, we still have sex, infact every other aspect is fine except for communication, anytime I come back from work and I'm in the sitting room, she doesn't stay there, she either goes to the room or dinning room, I have begged and begged and I don't want to involve third party cos I obviously caused this, when she got pregnant, she didn't tell me till I saw the strip, when I asked why she said she forgot, and we had plans to celebrate when she takes in, I was sad that day, I begged and asked to tell me anything she wants and I'll do it, I'll make it up to her,,she said she wants nothing that she is fine, I love her, she is my baby, we use to be gist buddies, I missed that and I want it back.

I don't know what to do anymore, it's my fault I know that and I'm sorry I ever said that cos it hurt her deeply, I told her to tell me more evil things so that we will be even, she said she can't that she loves me, we are drifting apart, I can feel it,

Pls help me folks, I came here becos I want anonymous advise, what else can I do to make the hurt go away?
Face it like a man. What you told her is your true feeling, no need hiding it, you confirmed her worst fears.

Someday in future, you will say it again. Your marriage WILL never be the same again and your only saving grace will be to SHOW her in your ACTIONS that she means the world to you.

For a very long time she will also keep doubting your words because you gave her a reason to not take your word for your bond. Exercise patience until you win her back - this might take years but if you truly love her (I doubt this), you will wait out a lifetime to gain back her trust.
PoliticsRe: Border Closure Crashes Prices Of Petrol, Diesel by Paentera(m): 1:48pm On Sep 09, 2019
For the benefit of those who wish to know, landing price of petrol has fluctuated between N150 and N188 per litre for a few months. Mr Rewane indicating that a price of petrol now being N144 per litre means that the sort of under recovery that the NNPC has been sustaining for a few years can be balanced out where this sort of blockage operation can be sustained.

At N44 per litre, the value of under recovery going on in NNPC for the past few years will be very significant to NNPC's revenues with this development, however this will depend on how long this blockage is sustained and how soon those responsible for the sabotage to the country's revenues are brought to book.

You are being mischievous. The name of the naval college student says Cliff Elisha Ishaku. The violent senator caught on cctv was Elisha Ishaku Abbo.

Different first names, different last names.

You are simply being mischievous.

Bloggers will have a field day on this man and I think he deserves what he is getting at the moment. He shouldn’t have gone to that shop either alone or with anyone...man or woman.

Yes I say it again, a senator of the Federal republic of Nigeria shouldn’t be seen in such a place.

Someone can spread an unfounded story that he went in there to buy dildos and strap ons when he had gone to buy lingeries for the ladies.

Someone could write that he slapped the women because they sold fake anal gels to him...maybe that was why he decided to sit on the hot generator inside the store while others were standing cheesy
This is the Senator's Facebook page

So Saraki is an Egba man?? I thought he is from Kwara state??.

Even though I have hearing that one of his paternal parent is from Ogun state.
He is referring to VP.

Those who are in the know are aware that it was a shade thrown at Saraki for it was exactly what he attempted to do when PMB was sick in London the first time.

VP had to jet out to see Baba in the night as Saraki was warming up to take-over in the morning, only to find out that VP got back by early the next morning.

Saraki is a big venomous snake
PoliticsRe: Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde Sacks Council, Board Chairmen by Paentera(m): 8:50am On May 30, 2019
I trust the Federal Ministry of Finance. There will be no FAAC allocations to Oyo State. Maybe after this will the governor & his team come to their senses
PoliticsRe: Seyi Makinde Dissolves LG, Board Chairmen, Places Embargo On Council, State by Paentera(m): 8:00am On May 30, 2019
No LG allocation from FAAC from June 1 for non-democratically elected LGAs.

What Governor Seyi Makinde just did is equivalent to PMB sacking state governors.

I hope this governor does learn quickly rather than learn from his mistakes.

Oga, what is your point? That Dalung does not deserve a scathing post about his despicable acts?

Untrue.

Under his stewardship Nigeria had a better showing at the Olympics than recorded in recent history.

Qualified for the senior world cup, won the U-17 world cup in 2015.
