Jogs1900: Were voters not intimidated in other states too especially in the east? If you are intimidated, there are legal ways to address it not by evading tax
Do not worry, we will legally avoid paying taxes in Lagos by paying in our home states, where we have our HQs; after all, Lagos is just a branch of our business. Anambra is offering 70% discount folks.
Chibuzoc: Don't worry, we go file zero tax. No income
Just pay your tax in your state of origin where your HQ is domicile. Lagos is just branch office, show them evidence of paying in your home state. If you claim Anambra, we will give you 70% discount
SmartPolician: Anyone who says that today's elections are no improvement to the previous ones is only deceiving himself. Thank you to technology and the people who reviewed the electoral act 2022.
In fact, those people did an outstanding job. That's the only thing that made it possible for a structureless party like Labour party to win elections across Nigeria. Before now, politicians were writing election results from their rooms.
Going forward, they need to make our police bear weapons. If not at the PU, it should be close to the PU. Our police must be licensed to shoot miscreants who cause election-related violence.
Not just armed, but body cam for police and electoral officers
MikeofAfrica: This issue is more complex than you are seeing it.
What usually attract people to settle down in a place is infrastructure and security. Àba, Onitsha and Owerri does not have the infrastructures in Lagos. You cannot convince a man living comfortably in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lekki and VGC to move to these places.
Moreover, Lagos is the commercial center of Nigeria. Hence most factories in other part of Nigeria have their marketing offices in Lagos. This has make almost all wealthy businessmen in Nigeria to have houses in Lagos .
With the completion of the Train lines and signing of Africa free trade agreement, goods manufactured in Nigeria will soon be moved from Lagos to other African nations by Cargo Trains. These are the infrastructures that attrct people to live in Lagos.
The SE is also not as safe as Lagos.
Even before the issue of IPOB and unknown gunmen, kidnapping and arm robbery has been a major issue in SE. I know of a wealthy man who has a factories in Nnewi. He was kidnapped and had to pay a huge ransom. After his realise, he closed his factory in Nnewi and migrated to Lagos where he started from scratch.
The only time we have issue of kidnapping in Lagos was when Evans migrated from Onitsha to Lagos. Since he was caught, I have not heard case of an Igbo businessman kidnapped in Lagos.
Outside of the election cycle , the igbos and yorubas have no issue in Lagos. I am aware that there are a group of agberos that guard Alaba international market at night. There are another group that offload containers for business men in the same market.
The madness you saw those agberos display was a result of intoxication by Lagos politicians who are afriad of lossing their base to igbos. Normancy will return very soon.
tolue42: Now that the right to generate electricity is with the state, lets see what states will achieve in 10 years...you talk as if Akwa ibom don't have the license to construct a sea port..
Akwa Ibom do not have the ATC from FG and FG will still run the Port after construction, and not Akwa Ibom or their consortium.
Where will most states get fund to construct power plants and distribution lines if not borrowing or signing slave contracts with so-called investors, not to talk about building railways or building & running prisons. The allocation from FG is meagre. We need to liberalize the economy and give States power over their God given natural resources, FG can retain the right fir offshore oil, as it is the case with Norway(the FG proceed from offshore oil will be for saving only to build our foreign reserve)
The poverty and the resultant suffering is choking people and we can only expect a rebound from the masses
tolue42: Which resource is Lagos state controlling ??
Also in the US all states are not paying thesame minimum wages, even in China all provinces have their own separate minimum wages .
So all states in Nigeria can never be uniform in development. That's how it is across the world
If Lagos state starts controlling the sea port and air port then expect most states to start suffering..
Your line of thought is not absolutely correct. The reason why Lagos airport is booming is because we have other airports around the federation where people will fly to - Abuja, Owerri, Asaba, PH, Anambra, Kano.If Lagos is the only Airport in Nigeria, only Int'l flights will thrive at Lagos and country will be worse off
And if seaports move to the concurrent lists, states like Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Abia, Akwa Ibom and Cross River will build Seaports to compete with Lagos, not forgetting that Edo ,Anambra, Imo, Kogi, Niger can build River Ports to compete.
I am of the opinion that Mineral Resources should be on the concurrent list, so everyone can compete and no more excuses of FG holding anyone back
Bornbiafra: Soludo is a failure....damage control failed ...we will vote him out when the time comes
F.oo.lish professor
Any body who publicly criticize his or her brother is not worthy to be trusted... because if you check it very well you will realize he is doing it cos of his alterior motive
Please, let us not throw the baby with the bath water. If Soludo performs as expected, please let us welcome him to LP and give him 2nd tenure.
chrisxxx: I told someone once that the difference between an Igbo man and the Fulani man he so much hates us lack of opportunity and a little educational advantage. If the igbos didn't have education as the Fulanis and have the advantage of Fulani presently they would do the worst. Similiaye is PDP candidate. He is from Opobo a town established by a man called Jaja. Jaja was originally from Igbo land. Anyone you see today in Opobo likely has a direct Igbo root. Sim is likely a great grandchild of Jaja and in that case an ijaw-Igbo. Wike might have offended them going by their feelings but he is supporting someone with an Igbo root to be the governor. Add Rivers votes don't remove anyone from Obi he still wouldn't win. As Obi was campaigning for other LP candidate why didn't he come to campaign for labour in Rivers State? Una be mpama.
Igbos are party people and will vote along party line and not ethnicity. This period Igbos and other Nigerians that believe in a New Nigeria, its top to bottom for Ellue P.
Forget about adding supposedly Rivers vote to Obi and not winning. The votes were suppressed tremendously and whole Rivers couldn't return 400k for all parties, when Anambra and Plateau were twice that number. Rivers could have given Obi nearly 1 million without suppression, without people like Wike Okocha etc that speaks and answers same name as me suppressing our general interest for personal interest. I will allow the Ikwerres to judge them accordingly
Today we activated the process of transforming Ekwulobia into a model city. I have flagged off the construction of a fly-over, a modern bus terminal, adjoining roads, security building, a fire Station amongst others, in the area.
This signposts our deliberate desire to reposition Ekwulobia as a fast emerging urban Centre.
Upon completion, this project will bring about ease of movement from Anambra into Imo State through the Uga-Akokwa corridor.
The project is handled by a reputable Company - AG Vision Construction Limited. The flyover which is about 300 meters long will span from Nanka to Uga. It is also about 5.4 meters tall, and is expected to be delivered in the next 18months.
Anambra will surely win!
CC. Soludo CFR.
Beautiful idea to construct a flyover at that location, but single lane overpass design as can be seen from the enclosed picture will not be fit-for-purpose in future, I am not impressed. CFC and even Rumola Flyovers at PH had a similar design limitations until Wike dualized the flyovers.
Tranquill: So your Igbo delegates were voting for Atiku because it was the turn of the North? Igbos had over a hundred delegates but Pius Anyim got 7 votes and other Igbo aspirants got zero yet no one called them sell outs.
If Wike did not play the spoiler game, PDP would have given Obi the ticket. The next best choice for Igbos after Obi left was Atiku. We all know that Party primaries are by concensus
IyaebeTheGreat: There shall be no peace for any Obidients after Sanwo Olu is returned as governor elect. They don’t have an idea of the soup I’m cooking for them. I think that Gbadebo boy is on nairaland and he must have tasted my bitter stew, my stew is not sweet at all
I am praying more than you so that Sanwo Olu will be returned. I am supporting him 100%
Tee2027: Whoever love this man should tell him to go his house now. I think Obi family are too tired seen him walking free or being alive I guess that is why they are watching him going closer to his grave day by day.
I swear to jah if you obi make mistake to enter the street with your morons to disturbs our peace the DSS or Army should send you to 6 feet beneath the soil and that is it, we have had much stress and pain in this country so any bastard that try to disturbs our peace should be shot dead.
This is not Endsars, Endsars was never a political movement so if you mistakenly taking Endsars into political calculation wallahi you should be shot dead and that is it.
Obi go home I repeat go home, everybody warning you now but you remain defiant remember UN, EU etc are now toothless dogs if you die Nnwnne you die for nothing and you will still rot in hell.
Their will never be another Mandela untill another 100 years if you go just die for nothing Mr obi.
We know the script already. Arresting Obi kite is being flown now
A faulty process doesn't is not enough to nullify an election not when you admit the result isn't the problem
Even the courts admit INEC is on a learning process
I wish you were right, faulty process will 100% lead to faulty outcome.
PDP is in court already because of APC contravening section 35 of electoral act 2022 as amended by nominating Shettima as VP; whereas, Shettima had already been nominated as candidate for Senate from Borno in same electoral season.
APC did not meet the 25% of total valid votes cast in FCT
INEC contravene it's guideline on direct transfer of PU EC8 results to IRev portal and therefore in violation of electoral act 2022 as amended
We know about trans Atlantic settlement
Above points are just some of the process issues that will nullified the outcome
Melezenawii: The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has made a U-turn on his earlier statement that he would only challenge the process that led to the declaration of the All Progressives Congress’ Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election and not the declaration itself.
He made this U-turn in a tweet posted to his verified Twitter handle Monday afternoon, saying he is at the tribunal to challenge both the process and the outcome.
Obi had, in an interview on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Monday morning, said he would only challenge the electoral process that saw the Independent National Electoral Commission declare Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election and not the declaration itself.
“I’m not challenging who they declared,” Obi had stated, “I’m not challenging whatever…the outcome, I’m challenging the process (through) which they arrived at their declaration.”
Peppysco: This guy will burn down this country in a breadth with all these subtle inciting comments. You came 3rd in an election and na hin voice we dey hear pass, moving from one microphone to the other like a comedian does. The case is in court, then he should let the court judge accordingly. Why go there if you didn't believe in them?
We already know the script you were told to play. Arresting Peter OBI for detention will not help the situation at hand at all
IyaebeTheGreat: This Obi will not let us drink water and drop cup in peace, what is so hard in moving on? I wonder what would have become of Nigeria if he had come second? Seriously he’s disturbing the peace of this country .
If your candidate path to obtaining the mandate is excellent, then you have nothing to fear. Peter, once convinced that he is right, nobody can convince him otherwise.
He is the reason some Gubernatorial election in about 5 states will not hold this Saturday, he set the precedent in Anambra
seunmsg: We can’t have a Muslim Muslim president and vice president and still have a Muslim senate president.
Some of these politicians must learn to be considerate and accommodating. This is the time to make all necessary concession in the overall interest of peace, unity, stability and national cohesion. We should all support the SE for senate president. That’s the best way to start the healing process.
SE will support NW for Senate President, preferably a Moslem
Tinubu presidency if allowed will be a stooge of the North. The better South will allow them to clip him to size
NDDC Boss is from Delta State and after her tenure, it will be the turn of Edo State to produce the NDDC Boss. In fact after Edo, it will be Imo, after Imo, then Ondo and finally, Rivers.
NDDC Boss is rotated in alphabetical order amongst the 9 NDDC states - Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, Rivers
Igbos fear Ikwerres; both Wike and Amaechi, our suppose Brothers are sellouts.
Please let us partner with Etches, Obigbos, Ogonis, Opobos going forward in Rivers Politics. The mentioned groups are needed by Igbos in case of incacity!
APCHaram: Coming from Jew owned slaves that are burning , raping, killing and eating themselves
If I was in control, I will withdraw every security officer from the yeast, shut you in (nothing comes out , only osus deported back into it), sit back and watch you kill yourselves.
Malaysia did what you harbour in your mind to Singapore and today we know the better state between the two
FreeStuffsNG: I have looked at the election result and it is best for APC to choose the Senate President among its ranking Senators from any of these North Central states of Benue, Kwara, Kogi or Niger.
Deputy Senate can go to South East. APC needs to reward and consolidate in the North central.
As long as the person is a Moslem from NC, I am sure SE will be fine with it
Lithiumite: Obi the sharp guy!! He has left the candidates for Saturday election high and dry....... because court never grant your spurious request you cannot go out and campaign for those that did same for you.
You did rather save your cash out!!
That election will not hold this weekend as expected
Enemyofpeace: 1. I am their worst nightmare; a true Lagosian. The great grandson of an eminent indigenous Lagosian, Justice SB rhodes, a founding father of both the Nigerian executive and judiciary who served on the executive council of Nigeria with Adeyemo Alakija and together with similarly minded nationalists built Lagos, a credit they and their leader have been trying to steal.
2. They do not want a true Lagosian to rule lagos as no true son of Lagos would allow their unchecked rape of Lagos state resources to continue. Why do you think Funso Williams was killed?
3. I pledged to take the money (10% of Lagos state IGR) they are siphoning through Alpha beta and use it to empower 1 million poor Lagosians with interest free loans.
4. My father Barrister Olawale Rhodes-vivour a distinguished, detribalized true son of Lagos who embodies the Lagos spirit of accommodation fell in love with and married my wonderful mother Nkechi from the igbo tribe and I Gbadebo (The one who brings the crown) Chinedu (which means ‘God is leading’) Patrick(of noble origin) was born. The fact I would live up to my names and fulfill my destiny to bring back the crown they have stolen scares them.
5. They are scared that the circumstances of my birth (half yoruba half Igbo) and my family’s pedigree (Rhodes - Vivour history of unblemished public service) makes it easy for both members of the Igbo and yoruba tribes in Lagos to support, trust and see me as one of their own. My soaring acceptance and political profile as a unifier amongst the yorubas, Igbos, youths and all other tribes in Lagos state scares them so much that they’ve resorted to sponsoring hungry igbo and yoruba influencers to go on the social media space to promote an Igbo takeover agenda that does not exist and tag Lagos as a no man’s land in the hopes of linking it to me with an intent to incite my people, the yoruba against me. They are afraid I’ll take the government from them and bring it back for the benefit of the people of Lagos.
6. I refused their bribe offer of 20 billion naira to sell out my ticket and step down from the Governorship race for Sanwoolu. They can’t believe I would reject this offer to betray our cause. My refusal is why they’ve tagged me otherwise that I inherited the stubbornness from my mother’s side.
7. I supported and coordinated the campaign of Mr Peter Obi the most competent presidential candidate over a questionable candidate from my tribe.
8. I have the evidence and I am insisting on going to court with Mr Peter Obi to prove that the presidential election results figures in Lagos was tampered with and rigged and he Peter Obi won Lagos overwhelmingly with 936,000 votes against their leader’s paltry 155,000 votes which is not up to 25% of the total votes cast in Lagos and despite all their entreaties and the people they’ve sent to beg me using parapoism, I refused to back down.
9. I have a plan to rehabilitate the Agberos and thugs they only use for their dirty work and reintegrate them back into the society as responsible people.
10. I promised to fix the bad roads in all parts of Lagos, from Ikotun, Ijegun, satellite town, Lagos - badagry expressway and ikorodu to sagamu express way irrespective of the predominant tribe living there in order to boost international trade in Lagos.
11. I pledged to provide affordable housing to all Lagosians and stop the racket that goes on with Government built homes.
12. I am the biggest threat to their succession plan which will see Seyi Tinubu become governor after Sanwoolu.
APC will win Lagos in Gubernatorial and Labour will be the 1st runner-up in a very TIGHT context. However, 2027 is the year for Labour in Lagos
