What if he isn't destined to have a son?
A man determines the sex of a child, not the woman.... If he likes let him change wives, marry or impregnate all the ladies in his villages, if he won't have a son, he won't still have it....
I have heard this highlighted fallacy too much. A woman and the sex position will determine the sex of the child and not the man, though the man is the carrier of the 'Y' chromosome for male children, but he cannot determine the sex of the child, as there is no way the man can decide to release only 'Y' chromosomal semen onto the woman to have a male child.

I am married to a Igbo man. We are based in Italy. We have 4 children 3 together. I have 3 girls for him. I tested positive for baby number 5 and we were discussing about the gender, my husband said something that makes me feel so bad.

He wants a son so bad. He said in Igbo tribe, a man is nothing without a son. I asked him what if we had another baby girl he said he will have no choice but to go to Nigeria and marry another woman who will bear sons for him so he can be a real man.

I asked him if he was serious then he changed his words saying he was joking, he doesn't mind the sex of our baby as long as the baby is healthy that is what matter.

I have been restless since he has mentioned about marrying a second wife even though he said it was a joke but I know that he wasn't joking, he was serious.

I want to know from igbo people, is it true that a man is nothing without a son and also what if the wife only bore female children is it compulsory for the man to marry a second one in Igbo tribe to bear him sons?
If this his 4th or the 5th child of yours isn't male; Please go and get Ovulation Test kit and monitor your peak ovulation day so you can give him a male child (if you do not know how to track it, just drop your ovulation cycle here and we can guide you accordingly).

The bible says "...from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh"; your husband is damn serious about marrying that second wife and he mistakenly informed you. Be wise

Confusion everywhere because of the greed of one man to acquire/capture power. Of a truth, these are the pre-requisite for interim Govt.

Awka is not planned. Lets tell ourselves the truth. There are four areas in Awka.

OLD TOWN

There is the old town that sits on either side of Zik Avenue and stretches to the expressway on one side and the Ring road on the other. It lacks access roads which is why all traffic pushes out onto Zik Avenue or Works Road or the Ring Road and reaches congestion mania at the market which funnels hundreds of buses and keke to a place that is less than 4000 sqm in size.

NEW TOWN

There is the growing expansion of Awka towards Okpuno Okachi which sits on the other side of the expressway spanning Ngozika layout, Oby Okoli, Y junction and Nodu Okpuno. Purely residential with some modern commercial activity, Obi built a lot of roads that opened up the area, however, the failure of the government to build proper connecting roads means it is trending towards the scenario of the old town.

GOVERNMENT LAYOUT

There is the government area which encompasses Ekwueme Square, House of Assembly, High Court, ABS, Secretariat, Government House and the Ministry of Lands/immigration area. It has generally good road accessibility and it is low-density and close to the expressway.

IFITE TO SCHOOL GATE

Starting from the Arroma junction, the narrow Ifite road goes towards the back of UNIZIK school gate and while the upper part is marked by decent access the lower part towards the university is horrific in terms of accessibility and planning. It resembles Onitsha in the way buildings are built without regard to overall livability.

The government should concentrate its efforts on road construction in the New Town and IFITE to School Gate. These are fast growing areas where developers have to be controlled and infrastructure has to be put in place. The government should even pass into law an annual rental levy of all buildings in this area to fund proper road construction.

For the old town, the eke awka market needs to be relocated like yesterday and Zik Avenue recovered from the mania of street traders, barrow hawkers and commercial vehicles. Zik Avenue should be the modern face of Awka with modern retailing not primitive trading. Eke Awka should be relocated ASAP and the space zoned for something Awka could use like a City Hall. The government should also endeavour to wall off Nkwo Amaenyi from Zik Avenue.

Finally, there is a need to connect the old and new town better. The government should build two bridges between Amudo Rd and Ifite Rd and between Regina Caeli and Old INEC road. This would allow traffic to flow easily from Zik Avenue across the expressway.
Thank you for your submission. Clearly, you understood Awka and its challenges very well. We have made mistake with the old Awka, but repeating same mistake at New Town and Ifite axis is very painful.

Not holding brief for anyone but I watched that video and I can tell you even in Abuja I saw similar thing not to talk of other SE or southern cities.

You said you bought property, where in Awka? Did you buy at Ngozika or Udoka or Abuja estate or Efab, etc, I list over a 100 well planned estates in Awka, or did you even bought at Awka Millennium city?

Even Lagos with Banana island still has makoko, etc, why are you people down here always emotionally inclined. I was in Enugu recently and I saw worse things at Asata, Obiagu, Ogui, etc. Owerri is a mess, I don't wanna discuss that here. Let's be unbiased when making some posts.
Kudos, I wish every other PRO Establishment will argue rationally/make submissions like you without cursing. The difference between the cities you mentioned and Awka is that unlike those cities, the entirety of Awka is SLUM, no exception(maybe AMC that is privately funded with Land as equity contribution from Anambra government). I challenge you to tell any planned area in Awka.

There are about 6 dual carriage ways terminating at Owerri and several interconnecting routes within the city, unlike Awka that has only Onitsha/Enugu expressway. Owerri development is radial and Awka is linear. BTW, I am from Awka and Soludo is just scratching the surface in Awka. He will demolish buildings, a lot of it to make Awka habitable

Good!. Soludo is trying to make it hard for us not to re-elect him. Please he should be covering the drainages, providing walkways and planting trees. He should summon courage to demolish fences/houses if need be. Rochas did it in Owerri to expand Roads and Owerri is better for it today.

I'm not praising Okorocha but I'm pointing out how even his substandard roads are dual carriageways. Anambra urban and major cities' roads deserved a good facelift.
My brother Anambra should have had an Okorocha kind of governor for his vision of expansive roads layout, though he poorly executed them before an Ngige kind of governor for his quality in roads construction. Then Obi/Obiano/Soludo as we have it. For me, apart from the airport and the ICC, Obiano messed up Anambra considering the huge amount Obi left for him. I think a Soludo immediately after Obi would have been better for the state. Soludo is overtly ambitious and the jury is still out on him, but he is making the right noise most of the time

I have problem with some people on this thread because I was against the kind of roads Obi was constructing during his time, but do you know that most of them have left this thread because Obiano continues on the same part of road construction.
What is worth doing is worth doing well, even Rochas manage to construct a poor-quality dual carriageway around Imo state but now Hope is turning most of those roads into standard roads while ANSG will be constructing single lanes that will be hard to fit big lorries moving across each other lipsrsealed embarassed .
I don't even want to speak of Obiano's projects cos that man do us willy-willy embarassed embarassed .
I just laugh when some people call Ikpeazu a failure, The man built a lot of dual carriageways with sidewalks in Abia state and even construct a dual carriageway from Aba to his house in Umuobiakwa. Now Obingwa LG is fast joining Aba as a single city even though you don't have to see rapid new buildings like you see at Oba, Umuoji, Obosi and other adjoining cities around Onitsha.
Another culture we need to stop in Anambra is the idea of building our houses/fences close to gutter/roads, it tend to deface the state. Build your houses inside and plant trees/flowers nearer the roads, apart from aesthetics angle, this will allow government to expand the roads if and when the needs arise. Anambra is too congested and choking.

The other day, i went to Onitsha from Awka and i observed by the right-side just before old toll gate at Ogbunike people were escarvating the hills to build houses ontop the hills and the escarvated sands were coming to the expressway making the whole thing look ugly. We must not build houses everywhere, i do not know what the town planning authorities are doing from curbing this menance

Roads and town planning are very important aspects of development being ignored by successive Anambra state governors. I have been here since the days of Peter Obi and this is always my point. I remember when they were arguing about how viable Anambra airport will be, I'm for whatever project will bring development if only the governor that started it will complete it. Frank said that the airport will open up new areas and people will be building hotels and offices and he gave Asaba airport as a reference of what will happen to Anambra airport. But he's not aware that Delta state government equally invested so much in developing the areas around the airport. Solid roads with sidewalks are constructed in Mirian Babandiga and the Vanguard area was not left out. The three tallest hotels around there are under construction and they're owned by Anambra men out of the three two are doing/have business at Onitsha. One is Ejison(his hotel exterior is completed) and the second one is a trader at Ogbo Ogwu he's done with Skeleton and now laying blocks, the other person is the owner of Efab Estate who even has an already functional hotel( Top rank) which is five-story building and is speedily building this current one that will join the leagues of tall hotels at Asaba. If 3-3 to Nsugbe roads is dualized, the face of that area will positively be changed and it will give that side an unimaginable facelift but to even repair the road dey very hard and I believe that Willie and the wife jump that pothole if they came to Onitsha from Aguleri last week he came to campaign for the wife at Onitsha main market. lipsrsealed embarassed
I cannot agree more with your submission on Roads and Town planning as the greatest challenge making Anambra not to be livable. There is no single dual carriage Road of more than 20km constructed by the State government in any part of the State, and its quite appalling.

I drove to PH from Awka via Ekwulobia-Uga-Osina-Orlu-Owerri -PH and i observed that from Osina to Owerri, Imo state government had dual carriage ways across these route and a lot of other roads within that axis were either dual carriage ways or they planned for it from its layout.

I ask Anambra state government what will it cost to:
1. demolish buildings from Amawbia flover to Amawbia roundabout on Onitsha Road in order to dualize that stretch of the road. Then dualize Amawbia-Nibo-Nise-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia-Uga and join with Imo State boundary that has been dualized already.

2. Do a clover-leaf flyover at Airport junction at Nteje/Umunya on Awka/Onitsha expressway and do a South bound dual carriage way that will cut through Awka/Onitsha old road somewhere around Abagana or Ogidi and cut through Nkpor/Nnobi Road somewhere around Umuoji and join the eastern side of Obosi interchange. Then dualize Nkpor-Nnobi-Ekwulobia Road and Nnobi to Nnewi Road.

3. Dualize the 33 Road to Aguleri, with a spur to the new Airport. Connect a Road from Anambra East axis through Awka North and come out at Awka around the new government house at Aroma axis or around Esther Obiakor Avenue at Awka

4. Plan the areas around the new airport and all the stretch from the 2nd Niger bridge to Obosi interchange as these two places can be used to build planned cities that will befit the Dubai/Taiwan in your manifesto.
