About the environment, let's face it, its been destroyed already by years of degrading exploitation. If the Oil companies, the Federal government and the rest of the country couldn't care less, why would you expect militants tottering Sub Machine Guns to to care. Please be real. If you've ever been in the creeks, you'd know that the worst kind of degradation happens 24hrs non stop and that's Gas flaring. About the economy, I think we have a leadership that is totally bereft of simple wisdom. Time and time again, it displays daft practices that confound even an illiterate. Any primary school student would know that it was unnecessary at this time of critically low oil prices for the Buhari Govt to attempt to wage an Ego propping macabre with the likes of Tompolo. Who in his right senses goes on the pages of newspapers to prosecute a militant for corruption. Buhari's senseless actions are responsible for whatever crippling our economy suffers in the hands of these militants. ABOUT CHEVRON. You are shameless Mr. So Chevron that pays huge taxes should be responsible for providing security against Militants wielding some of the most sophisticated weaponry available. That's an aberration. ABOUT AMNESTY. the amnesty program was a huge success by numerous counts. There was peace in the creeks for 7 good years. It success gave Nigeria an extra $30billion in revenue. |
hornyman:Errrrrrm....No. I think we have a government that has been very unwise in it's actions. Hiding behind closed doors?? Is a militant supposed to be militating in the open? He will always be behind closed doors so thats not news. The FG on the other hand is supposed to apply wisdom in dealing with issues.... No neeed forming strong face when you don't really have the ability to protect over 3000km of pipelines scattered accross the creeks. |
I love the word- Better South. Perfect representation for the SE/SS region. Let's use the word more often. It will stick in no time. BETTER SOUTH. Better South Regional Development Plan. |
Number 4. Latin=Aprica= Sunny Greek=Aprike= Free from Cold |
The writer wrote a written wrath.. It's called Obfuscation Obfuscation is the obscuring of intended meaning in communication, making the message confusing, willfully ambiguous, or harder to understand. The Niger Delta Avengers and Tompolo are trying to Obfuscate Buhari. The Writer is same and one as the one Written about. |
Nice piece. |
bejeiodus:What kind of inferior thinking is this? Why the heck should he be a running mate to (Atiku or Kwankwanso) people he has way better records than? Why can't they be his running mate? And please those two you mentioned are from the APC, why the heck do you have dreams of importing them to PDP. It was this same stupid mind set that prevented the likes of Fashola from contesting last times, now the man is addressed as the minister of darkness. AKPABIO is a very capable hand for 2019. Buhari has failed already, so even a LG Chairman can replace. |
Well, good thinking. But it doesn't exactly work out that way. First the cost of a worker to a company is not only the salary. There are other cost components which are fixed. Trainings, administrative costs, and a host of others. Also there is the factor of efficiency and expertise. The more time someone spends on a specific task, the greater his efficiency and expertise. Halving the work hrs means you would have half the expertise. Actually, even overseas, you,'d hardly see a company that would accept you if you intend to work less than full-time which is usually 8hrs. |
Another simple solution would be the use of drones(UAVs) to constantly scan the forests for unusual groupings of these herdsmen. Drones are a pretty cheap technology. I use drones especially on my farm to scan for any intrusion. So I wonder why States can't deploy drones. |
If you dont sell fuel inside jerry cans, how the heck would we power our generators again?? What kind of wicked and oppressive government has taking over this country? There is no light, the weather is terribly hot and yet we cannot buy fuel in Jerry can to power our generators? What kind of demonic leadership have we elected?? So you now have to go to the station with a generator to buy fuel everyday? What of those who don't have cars?? So on top the ridiculous price you'd pay for fuel, you'd now have to hire a vehicle to carry your generator to the fuel station. Tufiakwa. Excellent ingredients for a perfect revolution. My conclusion:: This leadership might just be cursed and irredeemably so. |
HIGHLIGHTS OF SOYINKA'S SPEECH "Let me narrate a personal experience – just one among many – that was brought home to me, right against my doorstep. Before that specific happening, I had observed a change of quality in forest encounters with cattle herdsmen over the years. These changes had become sufficiently alarming for me to arrange meetings with a few governors and, later, with the late National Security Adviser General Azazi. At the time, we thought that they were Boko Haram, infiltrating into the south under the guise of cattle herding. That was then, and of course, that surmise has never been firmly proven or disproved. Recently, however, I returned from a trip outside the country about to find that my home ground had been invaded, and a brand-new “Appian way” sliced through my sanctuary. That ‘motorable’ path was made by the hoofed invaders. Both the improvised entry and exit are now blocked, but interested journalists are invited to visit. In over two decades of living in that ecological preserve, no such intrusion had ever occurred. I have no idea whether they were Fulani or Futa Jalon herdsmen but, they were cattle herders, and they had cut a crude swathe through my private grounds. I made enquiries and sent alerts around, including through the Baale of our neighborhood village. There has been no repeat, and hopefully, it will remain the first and last of such invasion. What it portends, however, is for all thinking citizens to reflect upon, and take concerted measures against." |
How Herdsmen Invaded Wole Soyinka’s Home Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka has disclosed that herdsmen invaded his home while he was abroad with the cows leaving a “motorable” path. In an address to the National Conference on Culture and Tourism on April 27, Soyinka decried the ruthless manner with which the herdsmen have conducted their business of late. He stressed that Nigeria’s tourism will never boom if it continues to tolerate such insecurity, noting that, culture and tourism are interdependent. He also stated that the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has not done enough to stop the onslaught of the herdsmen. “Let me narrate a personal experience – just one among many – that was brought home to me, right against my doorstep. That was then, and of course, that surmise has never been firmly proven or disproved,” he said in a press statement. Narrating his experience, he said: “Recently, however, I returned from a trip outside the country about to find that my home ground had been invaded, and a brand-new “Appian way” sliced through my sanctuary. Ngozibotic:I'm not Ibo. I'm Bini. |
My take is this: Its time for us to wake up and decide a clear cut strategy to protect ourselves. Rather than rant on social media, we need real strategies. Anybody waiting on a Buhari's protection is wasting his time. The perpertuators are on a well calculated genocidal mission. And you know what, they have a clear cut strategy. And they are working hard and fast at it. What they are currently doing is testing the will of southerners. They've done it in the middle belt, nothing stops them from doing it down south. Rather than rant on social media, we have to start discussing real ways to protect these villages. Over 600 years ago, the Binis built a Moat around the city to protect itself from invaders. Isn't it a shame that in this era of technology, we(not Government, but we the people)can't even come up with a simple strategy to confront this menace as well as protect ourselves?? A few things we can start today> Operation Boycott Beef. Everyday you eat beef, you are putting funds in the hands of the genocidal perpetrators to buy ammunition to kill your people. If 10 Million southerners boycott beef, even if for the next 3 months, the cattle industry will feel the bite immensely and the leadership would be forced to act. This is the simplest most impactful action that can deal a healthy blow to the murderous gang of herdsmen. Design a Defense & Response Strategy for each and every Village. |
I saw this on Facebook.... I cant verify. So judge for yourselves If you are confused or wonder about what happened in Enugu yesterday, this is the timeline as Ariaku Emeh Iroh's wall provides it: |
By the time that Bini girl is through with the ooni, the whole Yoruba Race would be confess that Oduduwa was a Benin Prince. Pls dont quote me. Just wanna spark some fayaaa.. |
Buhari should be sacked from the position of petroleum minister. |
colossus2:If Toyota or Honda opens a plant in Nigeria, it will definitely be in the politics section not Auto section. If Tecno chooses to start manufacturing in Nigeria, that's a development issue not a phone talk. Better still a business issue not a phone issue. In fact from now on, we can proceed to talk about fuel scarcity in the car section and gadgets section (for generators) |
colossus2:Can we then move every talk about cattle herdsmen to the Agricultural section. Every talk about Boko haram to the crime section. Or even see, since Innoson is a business, send to the business section. This topic is totally about development which by any count is a political issue. The discussion that would evolve from this article would involve Nigerian capacity for industrialization, salvaging the battered naira, patronizing local products, patriotism et AL. If this was about comparing car types say how would you compare driving Innoson to driving Toyota or if it were about car parts innoson uses in its vehicles then bringing it here would have been justified. This discussion Belongs in the politics section. Please lalastica , seun et AL move back to politics. |
Disserious What is your occupation. I like the analysis you've given. I want to work on a data gathering project and wouldn't mind using your services. Please contact me on papabrowne @ Gmail. Com. Thanks |
I have no hope in PMB's government. But this article is crap and reeks of zilch in knowledge. |
Interesting video. From all indications the cause of the Fuel scarcity is clear. If you listened carefully, you'd understand the real reason why it was so easy for Jonathan to provide us fuel and it's been so difficult for Buhari to do same. Kachichukwu's 3 undertones. 1)We(NNPC) shouldn't have attempted to go it(importation) alone. Buhari assumed that NNPC can supply all our fuel needs so he decided to discontinue supply relationship with importers by frustrating their forex demands. He wanted NNPC to do all the importation but forgot to determine first whether they had the capability to execute such a monumental charge. It's like deciding the government would now be responsible for bread supply in the country without first determining if they know the flour suppliers, whether they have enough bakers and things like that. 2)Pipeline vandalism. Kachichukwu said there has been more pipeline vandalism this year alone than there was in the last 3 years combined. And this has affected terribly fuel supply logistics. Well I wouldn't say anything here besides the fact that the tompolo pipeline contract suddenly looks like it was the wiser step afterall since whoever is now guarding those pipelines are failing terribly where Tompolo succeeded. 3)Returning to the Jonathan strategy- Kachichukwu has admitted that the NNPC cannot do this importation thing alone. So same as Jonathan did, they are now deciding to let the private sector get in on importation again. Truth be told, Buhari's assumption that what worked in the 70s would work today is what is largely responsible for the troubles we are finding ourselves. The earlier Buhari allows his minister their freedom to operate, the faster we would get out of the mess we are facing. |
@op And what should you,who just spent precious hours queuing endlessly to buy fuel at the most expensive price ever and yet still having the effrontery to type about Wailers, be called?? 1)A Dunce 2)A Dullard 3)A Zombie 4) A victim of Chanji.. Get out of here with you pretencious life. You are suffering terribly and still pretending like its all right. Electricity is at its lowest supply ever at the most expensive cost ever. Fuel scarcity is at its worst and longest ever. Dollar is at its most expensive ever. Inflation is at its highest ever. Egg, Pure water, Noodles et al have all sky rocketed. Job losses are at their highest ever. And the economy is tanking at record levels all in less than one year and you are here deceiving yourself. |
Somebody has been reading Ben Bruce's Common Sense tweets. |
Very stupid article. What do state govermors have to to with fuel scarcity. Support whose efforts. . . . Buhari that is junketting across the globe?? Nigerians are very angry right now as the sufffering is now real. Very soon people would pick up stones and head to aso rock. |
Zombie symptoms. Claiming the lack of fuel is a result of saboteurs. Are the saboteurs ghosts? The fuel thing is getting out of hand. Selling at N250 per liter. |
OreMI22:Sorry. Edo state happens to be the highest recipient of remittances in the country. |
fulanimafia:The last I checked, the killing in Agatu was done by Fulani herdsmen who claimed they were re-engineering the killing of thier cattle. The last I checked there was an ongoing peace initiative between the herdsmen and the community. My question then is: is it the rustlers or the herdsmen that perpetuated the killing in Agatu. If it's the rustlers/terrorist/boko haram, then how come it's the herdsmen sitting in on the negotiation table? |

Exactly. It remains a mystery why followers fight themselves over the same folks who connive to deprive them of a better life. |
Edo people are supernatural. We too good. We once built the greatest city in Africa. We made some of the best artworks on the planet. When our mates across Africa were still walking around naked, we were building the world's largest earthworks-actually we created a mountain to protect our city. The most developed places in Nigeria were named by us. Eko is a Benin word. Eti-osa(VI, Lekki, Ikoyi) is a Benin word. Now we are taking over to UK with our brains. We supernatural. |
