I totally agree. More positives have occurred in Nigeria in the 10 days since Buhari travelled and Osibanjo took over than have happened in 1 year since Buhari came into power.

New Forex policy
NPOWER.
Negotiations with militants.
Nigeria Stock Exchange upswing.

I have noticed that not all pawpaw trees produce fruit. Read somewhere that you have male and female trees. How do you predetermine the sex of the trees before planting??

PoliticsRe: VP Osibanjo Is A Better Leader Than Buhari ( Opinion) by PapaBrowne(m): 11:38pm On Jun 07, 2016
I agree. My thinking is: Buhari might be under some kind of curse. He fails easily. He only succeeded after failing 3 times at the presidential elections.

osibanjo would definitely make a better president.
PoliticsRe: Dear Nigerians: “corruption” Is Not The Problem And It Never Has Been! by PapaBrowne(m): 10:12am On Jun 04, 2016
The best article I have read in Nigeria. And thats an understatement.
Intelligent piece. I would love to meet the writer.
I have learned a million things. Very insightful.

If only we can understand our history it would help put context to why things are as rotten as they are in the country.

Sadly, nothing would change probably until everybody loses complete interest in everything as it is, then maybe the real questions would begin to be asked.
PoliticsRe: Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force Vows To Launch Missiles & Bring Down Aircraft by PapaBrowne(m): 2:18pm On Jun 02, 2016
I don dey fear oh.
If the new sheriff can fear and cancel his ogoni trip, how about we civilians that don't have the 80,000 strong army at our beck and call.

Buhari can make himself a hero by actually birthing a new Nigeria. The UK that formed Nigeria saw need to create four countries(England, Scotland,Wales & Northern Ireland) to form the United Kingdom. Why can't we take a cue from them and adopt something similar.

If Buhari rises today and says he is submitting a bill for the regionalization of Nigeria with true federalism as a core of our structure, majority of the challenges we face today will be dumped in our history books.

Once again,Buhari can chose to make himself a hero by restructuring this country or he can choose to stick to his theory that since a civil war was one in 1967, it should be fought again and won in 2016.
PoliticsRe: 7 Simple Steps To Tackle The Problem of NDA by PapaBrowne(m): 9:27am On May 29, 2016
Dear poster,

You sincerely don't understand that the FG depends solely on oil for its revenues and that without it, you cannot pay the soldiers nor fuel the provide basic supplies for them.

Other things you don't understand is the Niger Delta Creek environment. Hmmm. I've been in the creeks. If you've ever been there you would clearly understand why the only war the Americans lost terribly is the Vietnam war. It was fought in the Mekong Delta. If Americans are told today to fight a war in a Delta, they would refuse at all costs. The Niger Delta is more complex than the Mekong Delta.

Now imagine an area the size of Lagos with say 10,000 small rivers all covered with Mangrove trees. Now imagine that the Niger Delta is about 100 times the size of Lagos. The big problem is drones cannot see what is happening beneath because everything even rivers is covered by trees. Or tell me how can the Army roll tanks when everything is swamp? Or how do you fight a battle on a moving boat when you cannot see where the enemy is hiding.

Its your likes that are leading Buhari towards the eventual destruction of this country.

It appears apparent that our president lacks wisdom.

PoliticsRe: Military Vows To Crush Niger Delta Militants by PapaBrowne(m):
The porcupine and the lion.

There is only one animal in the jungle that adult lions fear= The porcupine.. The Porcupine is a spiked Animal with spikes capable of piecing even the heart of any animal. Lions thread softly anytime they see a Porcupine because an attempt on a Porcupine would most likely result in the loss of life of the Lion

My advise to Buhari is simple. Wisdom is profitable to direct. There is no need to make threats that you can't execute and would only end up leaving us loosing more oil production. Because if these guys want to shut the oil out completely, they would do it and there would be no money to even pay the soldiers a salary. Buhari's statements are causing Nigerians enormous pain and he should speak with wisdom.

The Niger Delta Militants are like Porcupines in the jungle. Treat with wisdom.

BusinessRe: New Forex Policy: NSE Gains N354bn, Naira Stable by PapaBrowne(m):
Buhari just decided in his 1983 stupidity to hold this country back by the bone for a full year.

For almost a full year he stubbornly held onto the silly principle that the dollar must be pegged no matter the true market value. Dollar is a commodity. Imagine if it costs a farmer 200 Naira to produce a tuber of yam and you tell him you have pegged the price for yam at 100 Naira. Please tell me, would anybody be farming yam next year?? As a result there would be scarcity and the market would force the price of yam upwards.

That simple move of stubbornly pegging the dollar has cost us so much destruction than we can recover in 2 years. It only helped expand corruption by creating opportunities for massive round-tripping

Now he has allowed the CBN to operate in its own wisdom and in a second things have picked.

Buhari should be confined to Aso Rock and cut off from any decision making that has to do with Economics in Nigeria. Osibanjo and the few reasonable ministers like Kachichukwu, Fashola, Udo Udoma should make the sensitive economic decisions henceforth. Buhari I repeat should be banned from attending meetings having anything to do with Economics.

Have you noticed?? Anytime Buhari does things his way, it fails woefully. He failed woefully in his election bid 3 times until he decided to listen to the Tinubu/Amaechi et al. Once again, I repeat, Buhari should be banned from all meetings discussing the Nigeria economy.

Without trying to be sarcastic, the building in the picture belongs to one Dr. Ernest Azudialu from accross the Niger.

You know, that whole talk about Lagos being no man's landhuhSeems through afterall.

The best cities in the world actually carry that tag of being no man's land. So Lagos is actually fine with that tag.
PoliticsRe: Photos Of Fayose Surrounded By Gun-Wielding Hunters by PapaBrowne(m): 12:40pm On May 24, 2016
Its important for a leader to show his people that he is capable of protecting them and tackling their security challenges.

The worst thing that keeps happening to humanity is when just a few people with warped minds put millions of people in constant fear and trepidation because of their ability to cause harm. How many herdsmen are there that over 70 million Nigerians would be held hostage to the fear of their antics? How many armed robbers are there that 100 million Nigerians just cow in submission to their evil antics? How many kidnappers, how many terrorists, how many cultists? Its all takes a united rising to defeat their wickedness. Because we are millions and they are thousands.

Fayose has shown his people that they can protect themselves if the FG refuses to tackle the menace. While many foolish ones would rush to remind us that this is capable of causing war, the question I would ask is, if the FG allows evil people carry arms freely and perpetuate their evil, whats stops good people from carrying arms to protect themselves.
Fayose is a leader that understands that the first and most important responsibility of any leader is to protect and preserve the lives of his followers.

PoliticsRe: The Hypocrisy Of Niger Deltans by PapaBrowne(m): 11:52am On May 22, 2016
That you are comparing Asari Dokubo a certified militant and confirmed enemy of the Nigerian state with Muhammed Indimi who the FG entrusted with what is claimed as the collective wealth of the nation simply means you are admitting the fact that the Nigerian state is a terrible contraption.
Asari Dokubo at least started a university with his own funds while Indimi gave out funds to a far flung foreign University with funds from resources from Dokubo's backyard handed out to him by the FG.
PoliticsRe: The Second Coming Of President Buhari- An Episle By Dele Momodu by PapaBrowne(m):
Story story.
If someone gets nearly zero as GPA in his first year, the likelihood of even making a third class eventually is diminished by the fact that he has to resit a lot of classes. Hence no matter how hard he tries, failure is the most likely outcome. Now that is for those with the brain capacity to attempt a success.

Buhari has failed woefully in his first year. Sadly he doesn't even have the brain capacity to attempt a success in the remaining 3 years. My prediction is that he probably would be booted out before 2019.

Wish you understood the basics of economics.
The attendant consequence of marketers sourcing forex from the parallel market is catastrophic.
Simply put, the price of $$$ is going to exceed 500 Naira in a very short period and I'll explain why.

When the marketers hit the parallel market, a demand pull would be created and the price of $$$ would begin to rise. Two things would happen. 1)Genuine Forex users would begin to purchase more than they require so as to safeguard against high prices. 2)Speculators would flood the market to profit from the resultant volatility.

The consequences would be dire as the price of $$$ would become ridiculously uncontrollable. Prices of goods would keep going up. Terrible inflation.

We have a government in power without a single economist. The country is officially in trouble.

I don't even want to include the fact that more than half of our oil production has been shut in. The months ahead would require a new set of handlers(people with brains) to manage the impending catastrophe brought about by the ineptitude of Buhari and propaganda crew.

Corrupt members of NASS may likely be in collusion.

Why does NASS never seem to ever summon this multinational to ask what they are actually doing to protect these assets?

Also coincidental somewhat that timing coincided with NASS going for 1 week break.
Mogbeeee oooh!

Multinationals are to protect sensitive government infrastructure. Hmmmm.

No wonder Buhari has supporters. Daft is plentiful in the land.
