Look, I have a house in Apete. If you have contrary info, put it here. The bridge is there, but not ready to use. The contractor had been very slow on the project. However, he got a September ultimatum, and the government has fixed september to commision the road. Dont try use a tragedy to play politics here. Is it not the same Ajimobi that constructed Ajibode/Apete road as an alternative for the bridge being constructed? I personally wish Accord party takes over from Ajimobi, but lets be clear with things here.
I hear Ladoja is still quite popular and would be a favourite above Ajimobi? Is that true? |
Its too late man! The perceptions have been created and would take ages to clear. Amosun might be saved, but APC is surely loosing Osun and Lagos that is a guarantee!! The oppression mixed with a very intense dose of propaganda was too harsh. If you visit Lagos anytime soon, talk to a taxi driver or a bus driver or a trader and you'll hear them curse out APC like its possessed by a demon. People experience the aggression of LASTMA everyday. They experience the tax drive and they see the tolls. Then they hear about huge debts the stae has taken. But at the same time they see Tinubu flourishing in businesses he took away from the state and they cannot comprehend the anomaly. They are tired. They want change and they don't get all the media propaganda about PDP being bad. So while Omisore would take over Osun in August, Jimi Agbaje would take over Lagos on the platform of PDP in 2015 |
fiizznation: And how many accs do u have mister? 5 or 6?... For christ sake we shdnt deceive ourselves here.I totally agree with you on the fact that polls are not won on the Internet or the pages of newspaper. And that's why the APC should even have bigger worries because this is their turf. The Internet is where APC usually won elections. PDP has 15 million farmers on thier database with comple names, addresses and phone numbers. PDP controls almost all the market women across the country except a few. PDP runs virtually every motor park, okada riders, etc. All associations where there is a collection of real voters is controlled by the PDP. APC should leave the attacks in the president and focus on inspiring the people. Lie to us about grandiose projects you would build. Tell us about modern trains running from north to south. Tell us about 10 lane expressways across the length and breath of the country. Tell us about building of industries in every locality. Tell us about a brand new fully equipped police force that would literally guarantee our security. Tell us you would crash the price of fuel to 50 naira by building refineries that would function. We are Nigerians, we are gullible enough, we would believe. But all we hear you tell us is how there is a sniper list and your names are on it. We really don't care 1000 politicians are killed, all we want is a better life. It beats my imagination why APC cannot just understand this simple logic. |
fiizznation: hope u knw dis pdp folks on NL have various accounts? U ll see one of this pdp fans with abt 15 accounts here. So one pdp folk ll have hit "LIKE" on pdp about 10 times with his various accs.I don't think that's the case. Of recent if you notice, logical posts in support of the President garner much more support(likes) on other threads too. And to be fair and truthful, Nairaland has more APC fellows with multiple accounts and they aren't discreet about it. People are simply responding to the inane attacks on the President without any concrete logic. It's a mistaken strategy of the opposition. If a road is been constructed that would benefit everyone and you choose to attack the FG baselessly on that ground, then the people will see through your hypocrisy and have second thoughts. |
I noticed an interesting trend. The louder the attacks on the federal government by the opposition, it's popularity increases and the fewer the attacks its popularity diminishes. The reason is a result of a unique human primordial sentiment that tends to choose sides not based on logical reasoning but mainly based on sympathy. It's just like in football, a independent observer is more likely to identify with the underdog than to identify with the champion. In a nutshell, the opposition will do itself better if it reduces its focus and attack on everything Jonathan does and instead focuses on the people and what it can provide. Day by day, the opposition looks like the bully and the president looks like the underdog. That perception is majorly responsible for the results you see in this poll. Nigerians can read between the lines. |
Nigeria has 170million people and Norway has 5 million and both produce about same quantity of oil. Their infrastructure has been built up fully even before the oil came. To put things in better perspective, imagine all the oil in Nigeria belonged to say Cross river State only. There is no point comparing both. That doesn't excuse the fact that Nigeria is a thieving mess but only buttresses the point that oil shouldn't be used to point Nigeria's failures as most countries that progressed didn't do so on the back of oil wealth. |

ilugunboy: See this Ibo man ....Thanks for conferring me with Igno citizenship. I admire their entrepreneurial prowess and hope this your conferment would increase my financial capacity like I see with the Igbo folk. Lagos and Ekiti are going Labour in 2014 & 15. I pity APC. A rude shock awaits you guys. |
Lets take back Ekiti from the hands of the oppressors. There is nothing in Ekiti to show for the 4 years of Fayemi. Ekiti has the capacity to be great with all the talent existent there. MOB 2014!!!!! |
The battle has been on long before now. It's just been under the wraps and now coming out in the open. The fact that they are all showing their hands now shows Jona is putting the heat on them. They've always worked against him from within. It's better your enemies are outside your house as they are more dangerous within. |
Even primary school kids can read the historical points and conclude that Oduduwa is a Benin Prince. So while the Yorubas surely existed before the coming of Oduduwa, Oduduwa himself originated from the benin kingdom. |
Nonsense attention seeker who couldn't win a simple senate election. Anyways, what's the relevance of this suit? You haven't sued for the numerous atrocities committed by the government na confirmation of service chiefs you set worry about. Lawyers and their disconnected worldview. |
Kairoseki77: LWKMD!You guys are just terrible sportsmen. You never just accept defeat. How often do you see me on Nairaland as to have time for such trivialities. The reality stares you in the face. The masses are seeing through the deceit. The truth is APC had a golden opportunity but flunked it because it was built on hatred for the president as against love for the people. And the people don't hate the president. |
While APC is gaining popularity amongst disgruntled politicians, it is actually loosing massive grounds amongst the masses. APC had an opportunity to sell itself to Nigerians as a group filled with saints who would come and wipe out the "corruption that the PDP has instituted". It was riding smoothly with that cap until it decided to open its doors to the worst of the PDP. Amongst the masses, APC is a hypocritical bunch. Polls everywhere are indicating that public perception of APC has hit rock bottom since it became obvious that APC is desperately seeking PDP members to join its fold. Below is the latest poll result from Nairaland with 111 votes for PDP and 59 votes for APC.

What is this nonsense about Federal Government? This a PPP project with between the LASG and investors. As the LASG only constructs such things on newspapers, it would be heartening to have the Feds construct the road. The 10 lane Abuja Airport Expressway was mooted at the same time the LASG mooted the construction of the bridge. The Abuja Airport road is complete and the architects are still drawing this one in Fashola's office. Its time the Feds take over and make it a reality! Fashola and the LASG are not capable of completing projects above 10 billion Naira. They've had 15 years to complete such projects but none except the Lekki Ikoyi link bridge has been completed. The Feds should take over! |
Did you guys notice the serious cheat in this video?? The parts where the committee chairman was rude and provoked the Minister is completely edited. Nigeria!! Sincerity is lacking in journalism as everybody has a price! |
This is my list of best 20. Coming..... |
In my area, we are currently experiencing the worst power supply ever. I hope this privatization works. |
Very Very funny. So after almost 6 years, the new tale is that Lagos State Government didn't lose a kobo. What a tale. APC Lagos chapter has informed us that it is a deal gone bad. And there are many deals gone bad for Lagosians already. Over $60 Billion has been spent in Lagos State by Tinubu and Fashola and there is only one project with a cost above 10 Billion Naira known to the public that has been completed. Every other project is dead or incomplete below 30%. Pray tell, what has happened to the billions of Dollars? Where are the helicopters?? We celebrated the helicopters when we saw the news. Infact I was so elated that I opened a thread on December 08 2009 to celebrate the helicopter here on Nairaland. Here is a link https://www.nairaland.com/363311/fashola-launches-surveillance-helicopters. We havent seen any helicopter in Lagos till date. We here they are in the Niger Delta running oil business. In May 2011, Vanguard reported that Fashola undertakes Pre-shipment inspection of Light Rails in Canada. Well almost three years later, the trains are yet to arrive the shores of Lagos. Here is the link: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/05/lagos-revs-up-work-on-lagos-rail-system-fashola-undertakes-pre-shipment-inspection-of-trains-in-canada/ We are decieving ourselves if we continue to defend the rot. It is the children and the future generations that would feel the bite even harder. Our pain of today was caused by the failures of our past leaders. We can keep hailing them while they loot us in broad day light. Its just pathetic what we've turned ourselves into. An obvious fraud is committed and people seek to cover for it even when they aren't beneficiaries. Go read about how two mayors transformed a drug-infested Bogota, Columbia in just 6 years and you will never ever again support the nionsense happening in Lagos. |
Uyi Iredia: I disagree. Tribalism is everywhere, more or less. I see pockets of tribalist thought even in my family. What I can agree is that tribalism is not on the same scale as the major tribes. We don't have major grieviancies with any of them, and within ourselves aren't as divided. The latter point is arguable.I am pretty sure of what I mean. I said we don't understand tribalism especially in the context in which it is practiced in some other enclaves. Individuals might show tribal solidarity from point to point but surely not on the scale that is seen from some tribal individuals here on Nairaland. It is disgusting that people can't have a discussion without tribe sipping in every angle. |
ilugunboy: Those that am replying but PapaBrowne to some extent are bashing the governor for no reason of constructive criticism....than tribalism and politics. My case was stated clearly and I didn't say a word about tribe. I have no interest in tribalism. I'm from Edo state and there we don't understand tribalism. It's not a part of our nomenclature. My points are clear and it would do you a lot of good to debunk them. |
texazzpete: Excellent points!Totally agree. Infrastructure is built for centuries. Once it's done all that is left is maintainance. Sadly our population is growing rabidly and our economy is also growing but infrastructure planning isn't following suit. Thank God for the new automotive policy that would drastically reduce the number of cars Nigerians are buying, if not in the next two years moving from your house to the office even in small cities would be an enormous strain. |
The FG doesn't cater to LGs. The states do. In fact most states don't remit LG funds to the councils. The states usurp the functions if the LG claiming they are not capable of management giving what is termed meager resources. |
But I started thinking about it seriously. Nigeria will be a better place without these politicians oh. Many folks like Buhari should be put on some kind of list that would extricate them from Nigerian politics completely. Nigerians would not miss any of the people in the supposed list. Baseless liars taking their supporters for granted. Even the most slowpoke Nigerian wouldn't believe this clock and bullcrap. |
Uyi Iredia: Suggestion #1: I have already repeated that towards a well-planned city (in light of LASG's vison for Lagos to be a mega city) the dept. of Physical Planning should start a policy of containment.I love this point you've raised. I want to discuss the merits of this point but I might have to do it on another thread. It baffles me that this simple principle of urban planning that would cost zero in financing is totally missing in all states of the federation. I want to discuss what is called URBAN SPRAWL vs SMART GROWTH, but nairaland is too charged politically and ethnically for any intellectual discussion to hold. Look at the whole stretch of Lekki for instance. There was a huge opportunity to plan it smartly to world class standards. But it was left to just evolve into a sprawl. Now let me explain the merits of containment as you described. Lets assume Lekki & environs is a 25km stretch by 4km in width representing about 20000 plots of land or 200 plots per knm stretch. Lets assume also that the components of infrastructure include Roads, Drainages, Street lightings and Green spaces. Lets further assume that each kilometer stretch would contain 10km of inner roads and that each kilometer of road would take 50 poles of street lighting and have one green/public space each. Now with the assumed data, the Lekki stretch would have 250km of inner roads, 250km of drainages, 12500 street lights and 250 green/public spaces. Now lets assume that it would cost 100 million to build each km of road, 50 million per km of drainages, 0.2million for street lights and 20 million for public spaces. The complete cost of building Lekki would in that case be Roads 25bn, Drainages 12.5bn, street lights 2.5bn and public spaces 5bn which in total is 45bn. Now these figures are just presumptive and to buttress a point.. They leave approximately 2bn per sqkm area in infrastructure costs. Now in urban sprawl where there is no containment, development would occur haphazardly. A few hundred plots sold on km1 and another few hundred sold on km 10. and another few hundred sold on km 15 in which case to connect the few hundred plots government would have to build infrastructure in 15km stretch which by the figures provided would cost 30bn just to serve less than 1000 plots. Now imagine if smart growth strategies was followed and containment was applied, those 1000 plots would have been restricted to the first 5 km and Government would have to provide infrastructure worth just 10bn and everywhere would be excellently done. When the first phase empties out, restrictions would be lifted on the next and so on and so fault. My desire is to see when our politics would be about issues of developemnt as against issues of power. Its sad that we the people dont see these issues and continue to join our politicians in the argument for a scramble for power that they never get to share with us. Anyways, I am pretty sure 99% of readers wouldn't understand as my post as many are not intellectually inclined but still I had to communicate it. We need to take urban planning seriously. Its sad that areas built in the colonial era are far better than those new areas built today. |
And a list of other businesses gone bad for Lagosians: Lekki Epe Expressway buy back scam The helicopters that were purchased for security that now help oil companies transport workers. The moribund construction of Lekki Airport. The empty plots of land called Lekki Free Trade zone. The Fourth Mainland bridge constructed on Paper The trains that were shipped from Canada 2 years ago that haven't still arrived the shores of Lagos. The light rail which was to be commisioned in June 2013 but hasn't reached 20% completion rate. The whole 50 Billion Dollars in budgets that LASG has ammased in 7 years is simply business gone bad. Meanwhile, here is a list of Businesses going soooo good for Tinubu: The construction and completion of Oriental Hotel 1 and 2. The Construction of and completion of Ikeja Mall The siphoning of the collective wealth of Lagosians through the Alpha Beta Company The scooping of thousands of hectares upon hectares of Lekki Lands The Sunborne Yatch scam The Eko Atlantic. Lekki Concession company toll gates And some very serious food for thought..... Meanwhile Fashola has been able to complete only one project above 10 billion Naira in 7 years. Just one Project and that is the Ikoyi Lekki link bridge which is tolled. To put things in better perspective Fashola and Tinubu combined have ruled Lagos for 15 years and have had over $60 billion to play with. Together they have only completed one project above 10 billion naira($65 million). No major infrastructure has been completed in the city in these 15 years. To think that all those bridges and expressways and flyovers in Lagos were built in a space of less than 15 years during the Gowon era(minus the 3rd mainland in the babangida 80's), it is pathetic that anybody would praise the thieving that is going on in Lagos. Fashola is a good administrator and I must commend how he is using administration to bring a sense of order to the city. But truthfully, on infrastructure Fasola is a big failure given that he has had over $50bn( State & LG funds) to work with in 7 years. Go and read about Bogota in Colombian and you'll know how the Fashola/ Tinubu combo has been a wasteful experience. |
I agree with you. Constructive criticism is healthy. Its good for development. But if you check closely, politics is not about development, it is about power. All the insults you see are mostly about how to grab power andf not how to develop the country. The sad thing is that we the people who these politicians should work for, punch ourselves over thier beefs and in the long run get nothing in return. In truth, the opposition needs to learn some civility. The crass attidute been displayed by opposition pundits almost represents an insult to the entirety of Nigerians. And point of correction...there was never a time Jonathan insulted Fashola. You would have to show where you saw that.... |
Then surely the APC is really scared of BG. If Femi Fani Kayode would go this length to craft a story as false as this, then BG is truly a pillar. I hear the story that the man is a strongman and commands a massive followership and can do wonders even in Lagos and I wonder how that is possible. But with this Potiphar tale, then BG is truly a pillar and his acquittal is giving you guys real sleepless nights. @Cramjones A simple advice. This kind of strategy wont work. Your credibility would be in tatters in a few seconds. FFK is doing himself in with these kinds of inane falsehood. Nigerians are not fools. We can read between the lines. We all know that FFK is a drug addict whose kids have done all the security guards in the compound. Nobody is going to believe this Potiphar story. It just looks like some silly Nollywood story. I understand the goal is to create a gulf btw BGs & his lovely wife in order to unsettle the man. Wont work. The trust they have is eternal. No weapon fashioned against it would prosper. Your desperation and that of your entire party would tear you guys apart. In a short while, even your supporters would begin to desert you guys. This is gutter politics and you are not very good at it. |
Nice one Cramjones! This document actually shows that the Jonathan camp is intended on winning the elections via the people's votes rather than rigging which the Obasanjo era was known for. Very clean strategies. I like the turn which Nigerian politics has taken. We are rising above politics of thuggery into an era of Intellectual strategic planning. If Jonathan's plan is to use the third force as you described instead of the likes of Adedibu that OBJ used, then we this surely is the best government we ever had. I'm keying into these strategies. I am a third force. I am aligning my 2015 strategies with what you've listed. I love the new PDP as Jonathan has succeeded in driving out all the criminals into APC. Our strategies will have APC peeing in their panties. A well oiled campaign is in the offing. Billions of corruption free cash will roll into the hands of the masses. Just incase you are unaware, Dangote has grown from $2.6 billion to $22bn in 3 years under GEJ's watch. Let me just list some mobilization pointers; 1)The power of 10 This geometric strategy is a game changer. I would say nothing about this. 2)Mobile forces~ Ages 18 to 23 Very interesting strategy to get this idle but massive block to thumb print umbrella. 3)Farmers Front There are 15 million of them in database with complete names, address and phone number. 4)Religion Strategy APC would successfully be sold as an Islamic Party. It would be said that Saudi Arabia is sponsoring you guys. You guys would be shocked. Don't worry even in America, religious politics reigns that's why you here of the Bible Belt as a republican voting block. 5)Street Action I would say nothing but this would outstand even the best political strategists. 6)a good number of others I wouldn't mention but seriously I think we are in for very interesting times. World class politics is about to berth on The Nigerian shores thanks to the democratic credentials of president Jonathan. @cramjones I am impressed at the approach you've taken Politics of intellectualism rather than the emptiness we've seen many APC e-dogs exhibit. You are a product of the Fresh air sweeping the nation. |
Interesting comparison. In my opinion, Oshiomole did well in his first tenure especially when you compare with the resources at his disposal. Uduaghan on the other hand has had a lot of resources and has done some really good works in his second tenure. I am a Bini who has resided in Warri so I can say something about all sides without bias. From the pictures presented, Uduaghan seems to be leading on Transportation, Education and Healthcare while Oshiomole is leading on the quality of roads. |
I will support Utomi anyday anytime. However, the biggest mistake the APC will make is to make it look like the Hausa/Yoruba alliance is coming to Delta State. That way, the PDP will coast home to victory with relative ease. I want Utomi. Delta would see tremendous change under him. |
