ilugunboy: The bold is absolute fallacy.....which Yoruba Pentecostal church will campaign against Fashola on a ticket because he is a Muslim...mention one church that will do that ..just one? Living faith....? Redeemed? Daystar? Which one exactly do you have in mind. You have just reiterated my point. Everybody will happily vote a Fashola, but pairing him with Buhari on top of the Ticket quickly reminds people of the Muslim Muslim factor. Now if its not Buhari, it would have to be an ex PDP core northerner which most Yorubas would not connect with. PDP equals corruption. North stereotypically equals terrorism. That mix will sit most Yorubas at home. |
ilugunboy: I assure you today....a Yoruba will mostly likely be on the ticket..Yeah, that is the only plausible scenario but sadly APC has a huge problem where all its limelight fellas are Muslims except Fayemi. Thats why I made mention of the Muslim Muslim thingy. Be rest assured that if a muslim muslim ticket is attempted, you will be giving PDP a free ride because Pentecostal Yorubas are not voting a muslim muslim ticket...that you can be sure about. And they are a massive voting block. Infact they might present a protest vote against APC. Now back to Fayemi who isn't even sure of returning as Governor in Ekiti because of Labour's serious inroad and Bamidele's influence, can you tell me any other vote pulling Christian Swesterner as VP candidate to a Core northern Muslim who by the way if it isn't Buhari(Stereotyped as a terrorist BH supporter) would have to be PDP fellas in the mould of Tambuwal or Kwankwanso who most SWerners can't connect with. I don't know of any. These are the strange checkmates that make Jonathan's win even more likely in 2015. I actually like the balance in power that the emergence of the APC represents. Politics has finally gotten interesting in Nigeria. |
All these APC fellas. Seeking consolation is not the way to win. Are you trying to convince yourselves that northern Christians will vote APC. Why not instead assume otherwise and propose that more work should be done to win them over to your side. Interestingly PDP is working very hard in the areas of its weaknesses alias the core north. Let me just reveal something to you that might give you sleepless nights. PDP has database with personal phone numbers of over 15 million farmers most of whom are northerners who have benefited immensely from this administrations policies; from improved seedlings to fertilizer supplies et al. Funnily, most of these people never see the news and have no idea what's happening in Abuja. I was in Gboko, Benue state recently and only two things are in the minds of the ruralites of the region.1) Fulani Herdsmen destroying their farms. 2) Fertilizer, seedlings and good prices for their farm produce. And guess what: majority if not all of them had a common opinion that their livelihoods have improved tremendously in the last 2 years but they live in greater fear of the Fulani Herdsmen. The long and short of my epistle is simple: APC should work hard even in the south south and south east where it's hope are slim cos the PDP has all the cards in its hands and would surely get a landslide if APC goes on with the assumption that it has the south west. Church going SWerners would not, I repeat would not thumbprint for a Buhari type. Regular SWerners would not go out to vote if there is no Yoruba on the ticket. And a Muslim Muslim ticket would be a no no to a majority of Nigerians in this boko haram era. If APC must make any impact it must stop the delusions of 2011 and work practically to extend its impact beyond the cities where people hardly go to vote and go to the villages where they don't read propaganda as is promoted on the pages of the newspapers. |
Very interesting article. Nigeria is definitely on a threshold of something major! If you understand economics and know how to read what is happening as shown in this, your optimism would rise. CASE IN POINT: MEMUDA INDUSTRIES They are into sales of Finished Leather. Thier sales increased from a $10.6 million in 2011 to a whopping $82 million in 2012. That is a 900% increase in export value. Now, this is what is interesting. All that leather was sold to Italy. Italy is the world capital for the highest quality leather. If Italian firms suddenly see Nigeria as a place to procure high quality leather, then we will be running billions of dollars in Leather exports in a short while. If one company can sell $80 million dollars worth to just one country, then imagine what happens when many other companies begin to sell to many other countries. Nigerian leather is said to be amongst the best in the world. Now I remember when the it was advised that Nigerians should eat less Kpomo and sell it as leather and House of Rep members rose up in an uproar. Many nigerians joined and insulted the government claiming the Government doesn't know what to focus on. Now we can see that some companies went back and took advantage and increased their exports by 900%. Look through the many other exports as stated in the article and you find that Nigeria is on a threshold of something major! Cassava, Cocoa, Palm Oil, Sesame, Gum Arabic, Hibiscus and the likes are making their presence felt in the export market. If we can foicus on selling more processed goods like the Memuda industries has done, then our the long sort after job creation would finally be on course as our factories would be humming with activities soonest. Now imagine if the power privatization brings us stable power supply, then Nigeria I repeat would be on the threshold of something major!! |
I have made some trips across the nation this December and I must say, I am very impressed as there is construction going on virtually across every nook and cranny of the southern part of Nigeria. I haven't ventured up north in a while so I cant speak about that. I will surely use the email to send some quality information. |
Now, Esere26 is becoming notorious. He starts out a very interesting analysis that draws you in and suddenly and abruptly, he stops midway, doesn't come back until the thread dies off. Not fair naaaa! Please complete it..... |
agbameta: Is this not what we are begging the dullard to do and isn't the lazy and incompetent dullard himself equally corrupt and worthless and also a waste of taxpayers resources since he's demonstrated times uncountable that he can not do his job?And you think I am cool with the fact that Jonathan is soft on these corrupt politicians?? Not an Inch. And moreso because many of these corrupt guys, Tinubu et al, comeback around and use these monies to insult our sensibilities with their hypocritical gibberish!! |
This man called Fani Kayode is lucky Jonathan is very unwilling to hit hard on corruption. The man should simply be in jail. Not only is he a rabble rouser, he is very low on moral rectitude and has little or no principles just like is said of his late father. |
apoti: And the price of garri in the market keeps increasingAnd the pockets of Nigerians keep getting fatter and in turn their ability to buy Garri with the increased price remains strong. The benefit of an increase in Price of Garri is that our farmers which constitute the largest labor block get richer. Its a win win bro, its a win win.ri o Despite your purported increase, Garri no dey reach ground for market. The ish sells like wild fire! Garri is a metaphor for all things common from recharge card to pure water to sachet milk et al. |
doc sholz: this isn't what lagos needs now, i'd rather they use such funds for housingThe exact reason why a mortgage refininance company was launched a few weeks ago. Aviation is aviation. Housing is housing. Lagos needs both. And this current administration is doing something about it all. |
Interestingly, I visited my village for the first time in 25 years just 2 days ago. The village was lost in time but in my opinion very beautiful and serene. I actually visited over an Agric research project been worked on. I came out with the knowledge that there is over 1000 acres of land accessible for my research. And the most interesting part, the road to the village has just been tarred by the Feds. Below are some pics. There is no reason why we should all be rushing out to the city where there are really no jobs when we have the greatest assets in our villages-land for Agriculture.

jmaine: Am so glad more progressives are joining the APC . . . .Yes oh! They are plenty now. They simply dip their heads in water get baptized and are converted from evil to progressives. Their sins suddenly forgiven. |
Nice one. Let it be concluded fast and let the recommendations be implement immediately afterward. |
Excellent narrative. And Iyabo's letter has given us a much better understanding of the messenger which helps us better understand the message and its intended purpose. |
payless: This is the quote from the so called letter that calls for questions about the authenticity of the write-up. Obasanjo is the woe of Nigeria and he is hated by APC members for the fact that he perpetuated rigging in Nigeria during his 8 year tenure. Obasanjo has nothing to do with APC.You are just pathetic!! You are trying so hard to discredit the letter. Well its been confirmed and no paper(Except of course Saharareporters which of course is not a newspaper) would publish such a high profile letter without been sure of the writer. Whether you lie it or not, Iyabo has just confirmed that Obasanjo is working with APC. The truth is that APC has been hijacked already by disgruntled PDP members who sooner or latter would take over the complete reins of the opposition party. Tinubu is soon going to be a back bencher! |
Interesting! This is the biggest exposé! Looks like Obasanjo's letter is going to start a Pandora's box and an opening of can of worms. Goodluck Jonathan is somewhat of a strangely lucky man. Who better to respond to Obasanjo on Jonathan's behalf than his daughter who worked was most likely his closest confidant. And the contents of this letter sends Obasanjo to the dustbin of history!! He is not only a pathetic wife beater, he is a selfish man who had no care whatsoever for his own children. And by no care, I mean he exposed them to so much danger without providing for their security. And this is the man Nigerians want to listen as the voice of the nation?? We better be wise. Obasanjo is the most self serving human on the face of the planet. He Pretends to love the nation but only has love for himself. The man has had knowledge of virtually every coup plotted in this country. How can a man who tried to secure an illegal third term tell someone else not to attempt a constitutional second term?? How can a man who stayed 8 years in power and made no improvements in the country tell a man who in 3 years has brought some measure of hope to some sectors of the nation. How can an autocrat who bullied everybody with his do or die politics have the audacity to comment on democratic principles? OBJ complained about the release of Al Mustapha despite the fact that he saw to the release of Sgt Rogers? Obj talked about killer squads, but while no political assassinations have happened under this regime, so many unresolved happened under his regime. To think that I was once a big fan of OBJ believing that he loved Nigeria. Sad the man is going down bad in the history books. Only fools will listen to the contents of that letter. And to think OBJ is complaining about Jonathan damaging the PDP, well Iyabo has just exposed the fact that he has been working with the APC with the below statement. |
biafrandream: Are u kidding me? The pictures here are called real evidence in law and ur comment goes to no issue until u present a stronger evidence to support it. I hope we understand the difference between road and brigde. The bridge has been built but it has been finished. The road on the bridge hasn't been tarred naaaa?? |
Sensei X: I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I've got to sound the alarm, 2015 is going to be war and Jonathan is ready to bring this country down if he doesn't winWhy are you complaining now?? But I thought America already told you about 2015 since 2006?? Isn't it wise to prepare? Or didn't you hear what the northerners have said? How there will be no Nigeria if Jonathan is re-elected? Ah, maybe the man is just preparing for realities ni? The man who fails to plan surely does plan to fail!! On a more serious note, poster should email some of that stuff he smokes to all Nairalanders lets feel the high in preparation for a wonderful weekend. |
This year is the most dramatic year in the political (democratic) history of this country.....there is huge amount of money everywhere
The amounts are mind boggling! |
Excellent speech. Very apt questions from a highly intelligent man. It's only too sad that APC would rather field a terror minded coup plotter as their president. |
The best two performing ministers in Jonathan's cabinet are Yoruba. Adesina and Aganga. I know too many Yorubas who support Jonathan's government almost to an annoying point. On Facebook Jonathan has almost an equal number of Yoruba fans commenting positively like you have from other parts of the south. To put things in better perspective ask yourself how come despite PDP's seeming unpopularity, they garnered enough votes to come second above APC in ondo state. Forget all those ewarriors. They aren't representative of the Yoruba race who I know as very intelligent and organized set of people. |
All these fights that you guys are having in the name of all these politicians that care little about you. The lady oshiomole told to go and die actually voted for him last year. If not social media! My take on all this is simple. Lets argue constructively. Both sides of the divide have their good sides and both sides have their horrible sides. Jonathan's camp is filled with lots of goodies especially with regards to economic development and infrastructural renewal. It is literally immoral for anybody to for instance deny the transformation taking place in the agricultural sector. It will be good to see some APC pundits speak truthfully about things like this. But at the same time, Jonathan's camp has a good number of failures. There is a very lackadaisical attitude to social development and the lack of determination to take on corruption and crush the menace. It would be good to see PDP pundits speak truthfully about things like this. Insults are for unintelligent folks. Anytime I see folks insult themselves or insult one public office holder over another probably because of tribal affiliations, it really just disgusts. We really do need to mature as Nigerians |
To Think that schools still look like that in Lagos, you'll wonder why all the propaganda. In the very well critisized Delta state, state schools are now much better than private schools and look like the pictures below www.nairaland.com/attachments/894355_GRA4_jpg504d4fc9feeb9f4d9c39fd81fd81c134 www.nairaland.com/attachments/894583_Compressed_2_jpgd3dad3017b2a895fa114123ef8fc78de www.nairaland.com/attachments/894589_compress_5_jpg2058a2824f569cd00c8d2e6ba30baa2c www.nairaland.com/attachments/1178785_394250481_854803_jpg703b378dada56f80ecb0a6bc4b02cd23 https://nationalmirroronline.net/new/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/The-newly-built-GRA-Primary-School-Asaba..jpg |
CFCfan: Qatar Airways being a major partner in the Nigerian Eagle airline project, will be a major boost to its image. Obviously, if this proposition materializes, Nigerian Eagle may be barred from flying to Doha. Qatar airways flights from Nigeria to Doha would likely have some seats reserved for Nigerian Eagle passengers.Nigerians doin't go to Doha. Dubai is the reason why QatarAirways thrives in Nigeria! The way I see it, Qatar Airways would now be able to fly its passengers direct to Dubai which would Give Emirates a good run for its money. Emirates is currently the second largest carrier in Nigeria after British Airways running above half a billion in sales. |
Excellent piece!! Excellente!! I'm in Warri more often than not. Infact, I practically kind of live there. I meet on a regular with what I term "sub-militants"- these are the small boys(educated) that hang around the big boys that have direct contact with the likes of Tompolo, etc. The boys I refer to, the "sub-militants" run millions in hotel bills on a monthly. The industry is super lucrative. I knew of a Navy guy(way back) who made close to 3 million naira weekly anytime he was in the creeks. Infact, the industry has grown. There are now companies who recruit in the open market people who would work in the creeks transmitting the crude from tugboat to vessel. They are glad to be working in an oil company, not knowing they are engaged in the massive game of oil theft. Every vessel is said to have allocations for settling different groups right there from the creeks all the way up into the international scene. Do I think its a good development. Sincerely I would say somehow. Its time Nigeria grows away from its dependence on the oil industry. If the industry breaks, other sectors will become functional and would provide the much needed job creation Nigeria seeks. States would begin to look away from allocations and seek homegrown strategies to develop their own resources. $5 billion dollars in oil industry investments would provide less than 5000 jobs. That same amount in Agriculture related investments would provide up to 100,000 jobs. Let the oil industry break. Let the thieves steal it dry. It actually belongs in their backyard. Maybe just maybe the rest of the country would wake up and generate from thier own backyard the wealth that lies therein! |
Why not Fashola for President? The man is the most qualified and most popular in the whole APC. So why has APC choosen to ignore him for a less qualified dictator who has had less than 2 years of administrative experience under a military setting 3 decades ago. |
Are you going to do the barbing yourself? Have you gotten your location yet? |
If you state categorically and in a very transparent manner what exactly you want to do with it, I will consider giving it to you without collateral. |
Abagworo: ROSSIKE I do respect you as someone who loves and believes in Nigeria like I do but I'm only being real here. There is no evidence to back these claims except of course the experts that made the claim. Try and go to the streets of Ajegunle or any other densely populated area and claim things are better, I swear you won't come out alive. I referred to India because the media and the so-called experts think India has advanced technology and economy. You need to understand that it doesn't take a second to get 100 million people out of poverty. If you go to African American neighbourhoods and tell them how America is the greatest nation in the world with so much opportunity(Previously), the inhabitants would give you the beating of your life. They don't see the opportunity, doesn't mean the opportunity doesn't exist. Infact, let me share a story with you. This summer, I was in San Francisco and hung around Silicon Valley/Palo Alto area. The inspiration I got from many young people starting up tech firms was overwhelming. The burst of entrepreneurial energy. The unwavering Enthusiasm. The limitless creativity running through the veins of many in what is termed the bay area was just so inspiring. But guess what, in that same Bay area exists hundreds of thousands of hopeless, homeless and depressing individuals that would leave you wondering why America just can't fix itself! The moral is that the existence of opportunity as created by the growth in exports doesn't necessarily take all poor people into prosperity. If you want to measure the pulse of our economy even here on Nairaland, go the the business section and observe the trend of threads that have been posted over the last say 7 years. You will find very interesting points. In 2007, most threads were about the stock markets and other funny financial schemes. Subsequent years were about fake AGO and oil and gas opportunities. But now Agribusiness has taken center stage. Visit the business section and you'll feel the pulse! |
The onus is now on the wise to sift through the haze of news and understand which is true and which is false! As for me, I read between the lines to understand happenings. But more importantly, I read only development news these days. I cant be bothered about politics. The other point though is that the traditional print media is going extinct. They barely sell newspapers these days. More people saw and will eventuall see the video of Oshiomole telling the widow to go and die than they will see his apologies. All thanks to social media we would have been hopeless with regards to news. |
Oshiombaba! Very smart politician! He will now be forgiven. Although I am a big fan of oshiomole as a politician, but I will not be deceived by this gesture, he remains a mean hearted personality for that display he put up towards the hard working widow. There is forgiveness sha and it kinda evades karma. |
