geeez: There's a debate in my office about a colleague's cousin.

He's the bread winner of his home and his wife's salary is meagre. However, when there's an arguement, the wife yells at him in the presence of the kids and later tells the kids terrible things about their father. Now the guy has noticed his kids are kind of distant from him and more drawn to their mother.

Any ladies in the house? Is this normal?

The quoted phrase above just shows how ignorant some people can be. Who else better be in the position of a bread winner if not the husband? And to complement his effort, the woman works as well. What else would you want more from the mother of your children if she works to support the family, not minding her income?

As a people and nation, Nigerians are practically aggressive and loud. Black women always finds it difficult to play the background of a relationship. They also want to make decisions. Nigeria men should know this by now, and if not entirely satisfied they should seek alternate women (white women).

I don't condone shouting at any stage (including in presence of children), but I don't just make judgement based on the shouting alone.

There is no excuse to shout at your husband when your kids are present, handle you fight between your selves you are adults, control your anger till you are alone, what kind of daughters will you be raising with this attitude? Worse is even telling the kids what caused the disagreement, horrible parenting.

If he had slapped her then that would sum up the point I've been trying to pass across. No excuse for a woman to shout at the husband, really? Not when he's a cheater, not when he lies all the time, not when he's a wife beater, not when he shouts at his woman in front of his kids, not when he's an egoistic maniac, not when he's a control frick, not when he gives all the money to his family and not when he doesn't pay attention to the needs of the children.

Regarding having privacy, I believe husbands should always know when katakata wan burst (lol), and take his wife to a private place to address the issue.

To all that says it's abnormal, I'd want you to re-evaluate the scenario that led to such outburst.

What if the husband was the initiator of such shouting? Possibility is that the husband might have been doing the same to her.
The way you respond to me would determine my own response as well. Nigerian men in general have this domineering and commanding mentality.

Do remember that in as much as the husband is the head of the house, he's practically equal with the wife. Women are the keeper of the home and oversees everything concerning the family (they own the home).

Shouting at your husband or wife is not something to be proud about, but if that's the only option left to get his/her attention, then you could shout till Jesus come.

If you respect and honour your wife, she'd reciprocate the same gesture to you. But all in all shouting is sometimes good for the health and helps release stress and frustration.

Men pls let us cherish our women and listen to them. You cannot as men win an argument with a woman. Be more mature and consider them as the wicker vessel.

Hot air as usual. Giving you a visa is a privilege, even if they refused you visa with no reason there is nothing you will do, you will still pay again to reapply or appeal your case, so quit all these noise about your imaginary right.

Now to you Mr know nothing. You know I don't need visa in the UK and neither do I need one in the States, even if you don't know, now you know. I have won countless of cases and would continue to win more for my clients by HIS grace.

What you don't know, it's better you ask or allow those that know or those with experience to tell or teach you. Don't always come here with your pessimistic views on immigration issues 'cause you don't know any.

Don't know if you're being paid to do this, but we are here to always correct the wrong notion you always put up. And one more thing, is it just me that your write-ups and the way say these things looks "white"? In everything we do in life, wisdom is applicable. That's where the Indians have the upper hand when it comes to minority in any country.

Remember, personally they don't want you in their country, but regardless, they have to follow rules laid down.

There's always no need to mention or refer to any error in the spelling of one's name when applying for a visa.

If i had submitted up to 20 verifiable genuine solid documents, references and Ids with my full names well spelt out as VANDAME VIOLENT JUSTWISE, and if for some reason one of those document had the name field filled out as VANDAME VIOLEN JUSTWISE, it will be completely unreasonable to expect that an immigration officer could deny an application for this singular reason. . . . even after considering that the same document had been used to procure you tier 4 letter from the school.

You are right on the point. Your first name and last would be concentrated on but your middle name would not even if there's an omission or error with it. Some people are just making it difficult for others.

There would be no discretion on the part of the ECO either to issue or not to issue a visa based on the character "H and N" the poster mentioned earlier. Any attempt from the ECO to deny the applicant a visa based on that would be termed malicious, unreasonable, unprofessional, biased and if any, prejudice.

The applicant would win the case easily even if first denied and the ECO might regret his/her action. I would dare any ECO to do this to any of my family or friends, dem do see pepper.

@poster, I see nothing wrong with your WAEC certificate. In the UK or their consulates it is only your first and last name that matters most. Your middle name is non-existence.

Regarding the "h" missing in your middle name, it's no problem at all. There is no need to swear any affidavit, for that alone would arouse suspicion. Go and present your documents to the embassy and you would be granted your visa.

Same thing happened to my partner and and some guy I know, they were granted their visas. The ECO is only concerned about your ability to prove your d.o.b, place of study, money available, where you would staying, when you coming back to your country, your results (and not how your name is spelt or why one character is missing or omitted from your papers).

Be mindful that there are people on this forum who thinks they know how the immigration system works but do not know anything. Saying you would be denied a visa based on a character in your name would conflict with the dictated paragraphs of the 2011 immigration rules. The ECO's have guidelines which must be followed before refusing an applicant.

Most Christian rap/hip hop artists aren't even Christian (born-again) to begin with. These groups are the flops who couldn't make it into the secular genre, but seeing the frustration they decided to settle for the less. No much money in this kind of music.

These groups are real ghettoish and only in it to make money. Nigerians and their Black Americans counterpart would dance and listen to anything gospel. The rap/hip hop world understands this psychology and are using it to their advantage. Any crack-head could come up with anything Christian-like song, still, gullible Nigerians would still go into the 'spirit'.

I hear one song the other day, this woman was singing intimacy songs and talking about how endowed (between the legs) a brother was and still went on to sing D'banj song and the rest. People were happy and were singing these intimacy songs after her. Soon after, she changed the song to a more orthodox gospel song, and every body immediately started praising the Lord with her, .

) I'm a six years old. I attended Bible school and during one of the classes I asked my tutor (a Pastor) a straight and direct question- Is Jesus God? She looked at me and thought for a second (knowing I understand the Bible), she said depending on how you view it and couldn't comment further. I knew right there that she was confused just like millions of Christians out there.

My Pastor was preaching one day and mentioned Jesus in his illustration, then he quickly apologized and said God. Then I thought to myself if Jesus was God he could have just carried on preaching instead of apologizing since he was talking about the same person.

How often people quickly would quote John 1:1 as the evidence that support Jesus's argument as God. Remember people, John was speaking in that verse of scripture and not Jesus. John was never immune to exaggerations and was overwhelmed by the awesomeness of Jesus. During those time, anybody could have called Jesus God if he were to perform the miracles he did performed.

Analogy, God is like a mobile phone, Jesus is like the simcard and the holly spirit is like the airtime. God is that beautiful structured phone which has a place for a simcard to fit into. Now, as the people of God we need airtime to get to God, but first we must have a simcard (Jesus)before getting our message across to God.

God is complete but chose Jesus to be His son. He announced that when Jesus was getting baptised by John. God spoke, John heard it and Jesus heard it too. It is impossible for God to speak from heaven and still be present in the form of Jesus. God is everywhere, but Jesus could only managed to be at one place at a time.

So lets stop the confusion and give glory to God.

Trying to teach your ignorant a.s.s criminology but you still refused. Crime is a political definition of a psychological and emotional imbalance in the society. Murder, fraud (economical crime), Mugging (street crime), Paedophile/violation (sex crime) are all crimes defined by the state.

Being Intimate with your cousin, Pastor's wife, and your neighbours daughter are all deviance. They are all social norms which are optional depending on where you live. What is crime or deviant in UK might not be the same in Nigeria e.g marrying four wives.

Prostitutions, dressing in such a manner that would reveal too much flesh, downloading free from the internet, stealing from your mum or marrying someone who's not from your own state or country is a deviant act and not criminal. All these things are traditional, religious and community detestable behaviours which when raised and echoed by the society are then incorporated as crime by the state/govt.

A crime is what the state defined and deemed it to be. Banging one's neighbour, cousin, pastors wife, dog and so on is not a crime, but a deviation from social norms.

A J-1 visa is an agreement with your country that YOU MUST RETURN after 2 yrs! I see many asians come on a J1 and have to spend months trying to get a waiver so they can cross over to an H1B. You want to study, please get an F1 visa.

You got me wrong. I'm not talking about conventional study (undergraduate or Masters) here, I said study. This would involve professional study/training. However, addition qualifications could be gained whilst being sponsored by your sponsor.

Of course, I always do recommend F-1 visa for regular students.

Justwise-Don't take anything paris10 says seriously, he makes things up as he goes, i hope prospective students don't read his misleading info and take it.

I'd rather you stick with your British Visa Procedures than utter rubbish about my beloveth country. And to some of you talking about F2 visa (spouse), let me break it down.

Initially, a F2 visa holder would not be able to work, this circumstances would only change if the student is authorised by the INS to work outside the campus. A further application is also be made to DHS notifying them of your work status so as to authorise your spouse for work as well.

A lot of guys here either read or hear an ear-say about procedures. You wanna know more? Call DHS or the INS yourself explaining your situation. Each student is treated as to the degree of their situations.

Now to J-1 student visa, spouses are eligible to work provided they are not J-1 holders themselves and provided they won't be sponsoring their partner (student) with the money realised from working. They can work for maximum of 4 years. Travel/work programs last 3 to four months, trainee/internship programs last 18 months.

J-1 students are also be to work in or outside campus provided they are allowed to do so by their sponsors. Sponsors can either be private or public body. You want to study and bring your spouse to the states to work, get on J-1 visa (easiest way). Get an organization e.g your university, your place of work or a public body.

+, the Travel/work J-1 visa gets you a job, provides health insurance and like most times provides you with travel and lodging.

Think before coming over.

As much as we are trying to guide or advise people, try not to give the wrong advice.
Spouse of a student CANNOT work legally.

They are not even 'permitted' if that's the word you like!

The permission to work lies with INS. The student in question would first request for his/her own permission to work outside of the campus, and if granted, that automatically confers the honor to work to the spouse also.

Just that most times, you have to be in the know to know most things. This applies to F-1 students only.

If you have the admission get here and start your schooling when its like 6 months to the end of your program, You would have had the experience of what it takes to survive. Then you can make a decision whether you want your wife to come and how she can survive without a job on you solely.

Like I said earlier, You have to be financially buoyant to bring your family to the States as a student. This is done by convincing the consulate and by providing financial records.

And about the wife working, students are allowed to work 20hrs without detriment to their studies. Wives of students are automatically granted permit to work for the duration of the partner or husband's stay. Check with DHS or your local DOL.

Married men can bring their wives and children to the states as long as the man remain a student. The only downside of it is, when your visa runs out or you finish your study without securing a professional contract from a firm, you and your family would face deportation or removal.

Remember, your wife or kids would have the same visa expire date as yours, but ofcourse your wife would be able to work full time.

And like some have said, if you have your money, you're more than welcome. Your family would not qualify for any benefits or welfarism.

I'll suggest regardless of how much money you came here with to always have somebody you could stay with. Your money would soon run out and work is not easy to come by. Students are limited, but with friends or family by your side there's always a way out for you to be more comfortable.

Mix with the right people (most times, off campus) and who knows, you could get connected to the right source and have the last say.

You own oil yet you can't refine them in your country. You export the raw materials, white dudes refine them for you and sold them back to you in ten folds. So tell me, who are we fooling?

The 5% overstayers are the desperate ones who would do anything to stay legal. Indians are Pakistanis are the largest group of illegal immigrants and sham marriages organisers.

Office of National statistic 2009 accounts for 154,000 of Nigerians born in the UK. So whenever you see Nigerians on the street of Peckham with or without sound English, they might be British citizens and not illegal.

I knew what you were saying initially but deviated from it a bit. Your holier than thou attitude would have been much appreciated if you knew much. You come across like a good guy, but you lack experience and facts about life.

We all want to make it big, but the above highlighted words would not take us anywhere. Faith does not deny fact. Likewise making it big in life requires wisdom, shrewdness and intelligence. The likes of Dangote, Abiola, Gates, Buffett and so on made their money not based on honesty but on principle, wisdom, shrewdness, what they know, who they know and how they can do things without being caught (wisdom you might say). You've always tried to be an expert, but dude, you need to get your learning on.

You can owe as much as you like, good credit is not a prerequisite in dishing out visa. Only exception is fraud and money laundering. But then people need to clean their act and pay off any money borrowed.

I know you are a bit naive and inexperience, but where on earth did you get the idea you just put up here?

Owing private company money in whichever country would not affect your visa application in the future. But if you want to stay longer in that country and achieve a lot, you need to build up your credit.

You can only be denied visa if you owe the govt money but this will only be a [b]child delivery fee[/b]

I saw a girl in a taxi one day she was talking on the phone with a nigerian accent when she finsihed talking on the phone i asked if she was nigerian because i m nigerian she said yes what's your surname i told her and the next thing she said sorry i am not nigerian i am liberian

An innocent person is one who hasn't done any wrong worthy of punishment by the state. The Quran defines it in this ayat:

On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person--unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land- -it
would be as if he slew the whole people: And if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our Apostles with Clear Signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. (Q 5:35)

So unless one has committed like murder or other forms of mischief, he is considered innocent. Punishment of crime can only be carried out by the state and not individuals or groups.

Punishment of crime according to Islamic injunction can only be carried out by your so called Sharia Law. We reject this brutal way of dealing with people. It is uncivilized, barbaric, animalistic and inhuman.

wrong, I am not yoruba, And the Quran does not say kill all kafir, Neither does the Quran regard all christians as kafir(rejectors of faith) , you see why i say you have to read the Quran, Do not pick a verse without reading what comes before or after it.

I do not subscribe to the actions of any group that kills innocent people and yes, i am muslim.

That's why I say you guys need to learn a thing or two about life and it's importance. You said yourself that the Quran regards Christians as "rejectors of faith". Now explain this to me like I am a six year old-- If you are a rejector of a particular faith, doesn't that mean you don't believe in that faith and it's teachings and what it stands for? Doesn't that mean that that person is an unbeliever of the faith in question?

And wouldn't it be fair to say that the word "Kafir" means unbeliever? And wouldn't it also be fair that "the rejectors of faith" (Christians) are these "Kafirs"?

Would you then disagree with the Quran that Christians (rejectors of faith according to you) are not "Kafir"? And would it be fair to now say and conclude that the Quran says categorically that it's followers should kill all "Kafirs" (including Xtians)? Hypothetical you might say!
