Let's ask ourselves a question. If it were, say, USA, that had 305 cases total while 799 people died in Lagos in a single day, will they shut down their economy? The answer of course is NO! Why? Because they have the health facility to face a spike in cases. THEREFORE, Nigeria should direct almost ALL our resources towards upgrading our healthcare facility. We have now all seen what having inadequate health facility is costing us - penny wise , pound foolish.
We should partially open up the country under stringent requirements, direct all our resources towards upgrading healthcare, treat those who succumb, bury those who die, monitor things closely and if we see a spike, go back to lockdown.

It is one thing to land, it’s another thing to move about the state. That’s where the state government got its powers to lock up the pilots . They disobeyed the law of the state, but the minister could have made every thing seamless by informing the governor or the authorities.

Aviation is the exclusive of the FG, the FG requires no consent from any state government even if the airport is state owned. The FG controls who comes in and when even if it's a privately owned airport, no aviation agency is state based and this applies in most nation's of the world. Even states does not have the right to close land borders (Federal roads), but we have a President who's docile so every state Governors as turn themselves to Defacto-President.
Wike dare not do this to an OBJ FG.

I don’t know why Nigerians fail to reason? How is the fg right in this matter. The reason why this issue arose is simply lack of communication , and in this case from the fg to the state government n chief security officer of rivers state. The most important thing on earth right now is how to tackle n keep ppl safe from corona virus. This applies to both the fg n state governments.The President even announced that those on essential duty would have to clear themselves by informing the authorities as the case may be.Now there is a lockdown in rivers state put in place by the state government, that is no one is allowed to enter rivers or go out weather by air or road. Now the issue here is not weather the fg has the rights or not, even wike acknowledged that fact when he said a week ago that he has no powers over who flies on air or into the airport but that before any one enters the state he as the governor must be aware.This is not a usual norm it only arose as a result of this pandemic everyone is trying to curb. The minister or the fg should have known better. What were they thinking giving a clearance to some possible carriers of the virus to a state in a lockdown without the knowledge of the authorities in that state.
The fg should have informed the the governor or the authorities, they seriously erred.
This is exactly why we are all in this mess in the first place.....The carelessness of the fg.
