Pls Stop posting old rubbish here. This is 2009 stuff.

Do you even know how many changes we've make since 2014 not to talk of 6 years ago.
Chillax broseph.

Read my post, I added the caveat that it was an academic discussion

Yes, SAAF Gripen will need extra speed to try in vain to run away from NAF JF-17 Thunder PL-12 BVR missiles !
.
Why would we run away from jets you dont have and missiles you dont have?

I am the one that opened your eyes to jets running away at escape speed, you never knew that before, so say than you to me for the free education....Nigerians lecture South Africans for free, say thank you white boy...say it grin grin
No.

What you did is start talking about a topic that had nothing to do with the conversation.

Its not called lecturing... its called RAMBLING

Gripen jet accident numbers....11 jets crashed

JF-17 jet accident numbers....1 jet crashed

No further comment needed tongue tongue tongue
.
There have only been 7 Gripen Crashes you liar.

65 JF-17 operational - less than 5 years

270 Gripen Operational - allmost 25 years

You need official Gripen SAAB data to challenge me. Gripen speed is 2,200 km/h

http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=67

JF-17 Thunder's PL-12 missile speed is mach 4.....5,000 km/h....no escape for Gripen jet !

https://forceindia.net/forceJuly2015images/Air-Marshal-Chopra-1.jpg

.
Why are you talking about the speed of missiles?

This has literally nothing to do with the discussion.

The discussion is that the JF-17 is SLOW and thus is not a good INTERCEPTOR

Omg, are you an actual child?

You thought jet speed if for air racing like Olympics. I just showed you that missiles wipe off the extra jet speed, so you can learn about real air to air combat, Nigerians are your teachers on nairaland
.
Seriously, wtf are you talking about?

This has, literally, nothing to do with the discussion.

Dude, stop posting.

America's two main IFVs are the Bradley and LAV III...over 10,000 units of both vehicles and the standard armament is 25mm cannon + ATGM + Grenade launcher.

That is the modern concept. Badger IFV is as obsolete as SANDF....Nigeria has the most modern IFV in Africa, BTR-4
.

Badger is obsolete.
1. LAV III has only got a 25mm auto cannon.

2. Answer the following question:
So the Freccia is obsolete?
So the Piranha V is obsolete?
So the Kodiak is obsolete?
So the Terrex is obsolete?
So the Boxer is obsolete?
So the Stryker is obsolete?
So the Pandur II is obsolete?
So the AV8 is obsolete?
So the VCBI is obsolete?
So the Ajax is obsolete?
So the CV90 is obsolete?
So the Puma is obsolete?
So the K21 is obsolete?

No matter how fast, a missile will catch up with it and kill it. Speed wont save any jet from a modern missile, even PL-9 missile on F-7 jet has a missile speed of mach 3... that is 3,800 km/h !

PL-12 missile on JF-17 Thunder has speed of mach 4....about 5,000 km/h....no jet will speed up to escape that !

Extra speed is a waste of effort in modern air battles with super fast missiles attacking the jets.
No one is talking about missiles you autist!

O my god, this guy shocked shocked shocked

When was the last time 4th gen jets fought since year 2000 Badme war of East Africa?

Today, ECCM has advanced and missiles will be challenged by 2014 generation self protection suites on jets.

Gripen will NOT defeat PL-10 fifth generation missile with countermeasures
.
Why would I give a sh1t about missiles you dont have?

Citation needed for your opinion.

When both jets neutralize each other's missiles with counter measures, gun battle will start. JF-17 beats Gripen in cannon firepower.

In a gun fight, the JF-17 will fire on Gripen from above, the Gripen cannot climb up to the JF-17's superior altitude
.
What the fvck are you talking about?

When was the last time a modern jet got a cannon kill? The 1980's??

JF-17 will not defeat the A-Darter with countermeasures.

The fools do not understand difference between budget amount and open order numbers. It works in batches, countries do open order for say 18 jets and start budget or payment in batches of 3 or 6 at a time. Even super rich Algeria with huge budget, took a few years to get all their Su-30 jets, it signed open order with Russia and paid by installments, and got the jets in batches over a period of years.

Universal procurement model used around the world. Even defenceweb said NAF will sign for one or two squadrons, did not say they will pay for all at once.

The Southies here know it, but they are too hurt to admit....Beechcraft ISTAR + Diamond ISR + ATR-42 MPA/ISTAR/ELINT/AWACS + Alpha Jet + L-39 jet + F-7NI + JF-17 Thunder.....is that not enough to drive a South African into mental epilepsy?

These Southie guys are badly hurt today, bruised, wounded, bleeding, ashamed....shell shocked, afraid, fearful...half dead !
.
Things that dont exist dont hurt us grin grin

Your SAAF Pilatus have not been armed for over a decade and will NEVER be grin grin

NAF has dozens Alpha jets and Albatross jet for trainers. Our Super Mushak will replace the Super Tucano we cancelled in 4th Gen COIN role

Go die of envy....ALL Southies go die ! Oil rich countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Nigeria, all fly Super Mushak, big league !
.
1. Nigerian Mushak is not armed

2. SAAF Pilatus has not been armed because there is currently no need to army it.

3. And there is no such thing as "4th gen COIN role"

You goddamn asshat.

You are grasping at straws no

- We said we are close to signing a contract for 25- 40 JF-17s.

- We said we are interested in Tucanos

- We said we are interested in Scorpions

Hope you can spot the difference?
Yes I can spot the difference!

None of these things have actually happened!

Weird how you would sign a deal for 3... and buy them... but not sign a deal for 40huh
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 5:06pm On Jan 06, 2016
Henry240:
.......But they aren't making the claims you are making.
yes they are - you said you are ""interested in getting 40 JF-17"

Just like you were "interested" in getting Tucans, Scorpions etc etc etc

Weird how your first order would be a pathetically small order of only 3
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 5:01pm On Jan 06, 2016
agaugust:
Both roles, trainer + COIN that is what the Super Mushak is built for....it's a bad day for you, NAF is flying above SAAF with new aircraft rolling in to rock the skies and contest the Sub Saharan African airspace with ANYBODY !

"Missiles and gunpods of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex's aircraft

The MFI-395 is fitted with six hardpoints under the wing pylons. The inner two stressed hardpoints can carry up to 150kg each. The remaining four carry rockets, gunpods and Bofor Bantam anti-tank missiles."

http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/mfi-395-super-mushshak-trainer-aircraft/

Go die of envy....ALL Southies go die !
.
Again, why do you think that we would care?

We have Hawks

Hawks are jets

Hawks drop PGMs... even during Apartheid we choose to build expensive jets for COIN CAS instead of pathetically slow prop driven aircraft

You arent going to be challenging anyone for anything with 3 JF-17s

and the killer blow:

SAAF operates 60 Pilatus PC-7's

Armament
Hardpoints: 6 × hardpoints for bombs and rockets with a capacity of 1,040 kg (2,294 lb)[31]

Nigerian military procurement process is still ONGOING and they can change one thing and replace with another thing.

Super Tucano has been replaced with Super Mushashak 4th Generation COIN aircraft for NAF !

SAAF has NO SINGLE dedicated COIN aircraft.

Southies go die of ENVY... tongue tongue tongue tongue

1. You are getting it as a trainer

2. "4th gen COIN Aircraft" what the fvck are you talking about?

Finally, why would we get slow and low prop driven planes when we have Hawks which can drop PGM's and are super cheap to operate?

Dude, I fail to see how bragging about things you dont have would make you feel good.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 4:51pm On Jan 06, 2016
Henry240:
In essence, you have no evidence to support you claim that the Nigerian government made purchase orders it didn't follow up with.

Ok..... Thanks for been 5% honest, we are making progress.
No, in essence, what I have shown is that the Nigerian government says it is going to make big orders... and then doesnt.

Until then, you only have 3.

Wow.

The newspaper is not Nairaland argument forum, it does not intend to make list of any details for argument with fools like you grin

The source quotes the word Reconnaissance and it summarizes it all, and it was used in combat ops for recce. Proved.

NAF now has ...

[s]3 Beechcraft 350i Reconnaissance

2 Beechcraft 350ER ISTAR

2 Diamond D42 ISR[/s]

2 ATR-42 MPA/ISTAR/ELINT/secondary role AWACS 407 km range radar

10 F-7 jets

3 JF-17 jets [s]likely with BVR missiles, anti-radar, and anti-ship missiles like the Pakistani air force.[/s]

SAAF is dead on arrival....6 pilots for Gripen jet with no combat qualified pilots and no BVR missiles in 10 years tongue tongue

https://pafwallpapers.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/zhuhai14-14.jpg
.
There you go, I left you with a list of what you ACTUALLY have.

Why do you bother telling us about things you dont have? Does it satisfy you? It must feel so empty bragging about non-existant things.

We on the other hand have around 50 light and medium fighters and soon our Gripen will be 76% operational with domestic BVRM under development and world leading WVRMs in service.

You see that? It felt good to type that out... because we actually have that

At the date of the publication or assessment, NN had not bought Falcon Eye and the new missile crafts on order. It has become an outdated publication, 2016 has changed EVERYTHING about that ranking.
Read the assessment - you have no FORCE PROJECTION

Falcon Eye does not provide you with the ability to PROJECT FORCE

And you DO NOT have missile craft on order

LOL...NO ! Never ! Who wants SAAF aircraft that has analog cockpit ? grin grin

Even the Beechcraft 350i transports that we bought in 2014 have been re-configured for RECONNAISSANCE to join the earlier two Beechcraft 350ER ISTAR we had before.....We are besting you with a whole fleet of modern ISTAR aircraft plus JF-17 Thunder backing them up !

" The recent air operation against the BHTs was commanded by the Chief of the Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar from NAF reconnaissance aircraft, the King Air 350i. The CAS coordinated the various NAF platforms involved in the operation to provide close air support to ground forces, led by the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, as they advance from Dikwa to Gamboru Ngala."
