agaugust: 1. Sudan produces missiles too, so what?
2. South Africa has NEVER produced any tank, you only upgraded your British built Centurion tanks and renamed it Olifant tank.
3. South Africa built NO jet fighter, you only assembled jet aircraft CKD parts imported fully manufactured from Europe . 1. Nigeria doesnt build missiles!! 2. Tank Technology Demonstrator is fully South African 3. Just like Egypt So, you asked: Do we build tanks? Yes Do we build Jets? Yes You lose |

Badger is a bad obsolete IFV configuration dated 15 years old doctrine.
A standard Badger IFV has only one major weapon, 30 mm cannon with slow rate of fire.
A standard BTR-4 has many weapons combined together on ONE SINGLE VEHICLE altogether at the same time , anti-tank missiles + 30 mm cannon + 30 mm Grenade launcher.....modern IFV configuration.
Nigeria has the most advanced IFV in Africa from Cape Town to Cairo

https://www5.picturepush.com/photo/a/13312233/img/Anonymous/btr-4-btr4-apc-armoured-personnel-carriers-3.jpeg . So its better than the German Puma, American Stryker, British Ajax, Swedish CV90, Korean K21, French VBCI, Swiss Paranah V, Singaporean Terrex? Weird how the Americans abandoned the concept you call "new" with their new IFV Also, you have less than 20 of them... we are building 236 IN OUR FIRST ORDER

Badger is a bad obsolete IFV configuration dated 15 years old doctrine.
A standard Badger IFV has only one major weapon, 30 mm cannon with slow rate of fire.
A standard BTR-4 has many weapons mixed, anti-tank missiles + 30 mm cannon + 30 mm Grenade launcher.....modern IFV configuration.
Nigeria has the most advanced IFV in Africa from Cape Town to Cairo . Citation still needed that Falcon Eye is the most advanced in Africa Standard Badger IFV is better armored. Badger IFV comes in tank hunter, mortar, ICV and command variants - we focus on specialization, not your obsolete soviet doctrines. Just like the new British, French, German, Polish, Swedish ICV'sBadger IFV 30mm is the most advanced autocannon in the world |

Nigerian Beechcraft 350ER has been proved to be ISTAR many times repeatedly on this forum.
I wont waste my time in 2016 repeating old stuff. No, you only have the transport variant - proven many times on this forum |

Yes, other INDIVIDUAL nations have better INDIVIDUAL weapons No one in SSA has such an impressive collection and no one in SSA has it all intergrated into one SYSTEM |

agaugust: [s]Most powerful, Egypt....24 Rafale jets, about 150 F-16s and about 50 Apaches helicopters, nqvy of many frigates and most advanced submarines in Africa, army of 30,000 APCs, IFVs, tanks, artillery, missiles, 1.5 million soldiers. OVERWHELMING FORCE.
Most advanced is hard to judge because Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Morroco, South Africa have different areas of military edge in technology.
Egypt's Rafale is the most advanced jet figther in Africa.
Egypt's Type 209 is the most advanced submarine in Africa
Egypt's E-3 AWACS is the most advanced and only AWACS aircraft in Africa
Morocco's FREMM frigate is the most advanced warship in Africa
Algeria's T-90 tank is the most advanced in Africa
Algeria's Pantsir SAM is rhe most advanced short range mobile air defence system in Africa
Algeria's S-400 SAM is the most advanced long range air defence system in Africa
Algeria's Yak-130 is the most advanced jet trainer in Africa
Nigeria's ATR-42 is the most advanced MPA+ISR aircraft in Africa[/s]
[s]Nigeria's Beechcraft 350 ER is the most advanced ISTAR aircraft in Afica
Nigeria's BTR-4E is the most advanced IFV in Africa
Nigeria's Falcon Eye coastal surveillance system is the most advanced in Africa
Nigeria's CH-3 guided missile drone is the most advanced in Africa.
South Africa has nothing to boast of except tactical datalink and we cannot judge other African countries because we dont know who has tactical datalink and is not talking about it among other nations.
South Africa, I will like the Southies to list for us their equipment names that are currently in service (Not in laboratory or under testing/development stage) and are the most advanced in their class in Africa.....
#EMOTIONS ARE FEELINGS NOT FACTS[/s] . 1. Your Beechcraft 350 is a VIP transport platform 2. Badger is the most advanced IFV in Africa. 3. Citation needed for Falcon Eye 4. How is the CH-3 more advanced than the Seekr? Agustus, you wouldent know a fact if it fell out of your arse |

Henry240: We are the only Nation in SSA that has operationally used data links.
Operationally, we are also the only one that have used ELINT compliant assets, AR-1, PL-9C, Falcon Eye, Satellite surveillance, networking & Tracking of assets just a part of the Navy's wider RMAFC, TRADOC -total radar coverage of Nigeria, MI-35m Hind E, MI-17 terminator, Up-graded Super-Puma Helos, ASW assets, CH-3A, Tactical squad drones, Up-graded Alpha jets, Stealth ships, Advanced rifles fitted with state-of-the-art visions etc etc
Again you South-Africans are yet to prove how you have the most technologically advanced military in Africa. 1. You dont have a data-link 2. No that is a lie, you dont have that level of intergration 3. You dont have mobile radars so how are you tracking those things? 4. The rest of your post is nonsense |

An integrated sattelite naval integrated system with force tracker. No you dont We all read the article. And a maritime managment system is no where near and intergrated data link or a battlefeild managment system |

Henry240: It doesn't. 80% of all components used in the South-African defence industry is imported from Europe.
The Defence Industry doesn't equal the SANDF.
Prove how the SANDF is more technologically advanced than the Nigerian military. 80% is imported? Who were we importing from during the arms embargoes? Yes it does - See Juliet Troop at Quito Prove? Link-ZA, EODS, ground based ELINT, Milan-AD, Starstreak, Badger, Chaka-Battle Managment, IMPI Tracking system, Gripen, Valour Class, Heroin Class, Hawks, Gripen, Rooivalk, mobile radar systems and the rests of GBADS, CRAM etc etc etc |

lionel4power: at 50 knots the shaldag flies faster than all torpedoes in your inventory. We just circle around while dropping depth charge at your slow-moving sub... Well first it has to detect the sub And second, the sub has guided torpedoes which are supercavitating... meaning that they have a significant kill zone. In WW2 the Japs thought that their super-fast sub hunting corvettes would be impervious to American subs... problem was that when you are hunting a sub you have to sail TOWARDS the sub... and that means a head-on shot and if you set the torps to run deep it makes them very hard to detect with eye-balls. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Patchesagain: 12:08pm On Jan 05, 2016 |
lionel4power: yes a modern sub... Besides the heroine cannot kill the shaldag. Heroine Class is the most modern class in service in Africa O yes, it can kill a Shaldag.... torps dont have to hit targets to kill them, so even if the crew employs evasive maneuvers they will have to be very lucky to avoid the kill zone |

Henry240: We got 1 Meko Frigate, 4 Corvettes and 6 missile boats. That's more than enough deterrent. You cant deter much when you are quay-side for repairs. In actualiyt you only have one warship capable of conventional defence (Aradu), which is non-operational and 3 missile boats (the Combatant III's) and only one of which is operational. So in actuality you only have one vessel that is capable of conventional defense of your shoreline at this point, and even with all 3 Combatants sea worthy it will be near impossible to have more than 2 consistently ready for operations. Hence why you buy in batches - its a question of operationability, ensuring that you always have at least one ready for action (like you do with your Combattant missile boats). And dont take these as disparaging remarks - I am deeply concerned that SAN is only acquiring 3 OPV's and 3 IPV's for this very reason.... South Africa has 1 553 000 square kilometres of ocean to patrol with (operational) 1 Frigate, 1 Sub, 1 OPV, 1 IPV and the Drakensberg... meaning that even if we drop all conventional training exercises and have all 4 vessels on patrol they each have to cover 310 600 square kilometers |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Patchesagain: 10:56am On Jan 05, 2016 |
lionel4power: ahhh see the Aradu standing proud. @Henry240 why do you think we bought only 1 meko 360? How i wish we bought at least FOUR... Who buys only one frigate Because frigates are expensive But yes, it was a silly decision... I would say 3 would be the absolute minimum: 1 - operational 1 - training/reserve 1 - maintenance/upgrade/refit |
