Henry240: We aren't facing a conventional enemy. The enemy is light, highly mobile, makes extensive use of Improvised explosives, fully utilises terrain, determined and unconventional.
Henry240: What i mean is stories of human rights abuses are posted by citizens in the social media (Nairaland, Twitter et al), Army or Police authorities swiftly pick up on those stories, arrest and prosecute the officers and men/cadets involved.
Their dismissal and trial are posted on the various social media accounts for everyone to see.
Now, don't act all innocent, as we, you and I, (Nigeria, South-Africa) are in the same boat of despicable human rights abuses.
Henry240: We are talking about the capability to "Track, Organize and send orders digitally".
It doesn't matter what forces use it.
1. You have yet to prove you send orders digitally 1a. You have yet to provide info on level of integration and capabilities 2. Are the men you sent to Amani sailors?
Henry240: I'm pathetic for stating the fact that we learnt nothing at Amani. LOL!
Like I've asked over 100 times, which African country faces a Russia or North-Korea type threat.
The level of training in the SANDF is obsolete and archaic. We can't be fighting like Jonas Savimbi in 2015, that's 70's style.
How has insurgency changed since the 1980's?
You are pathetic for making a statement and not being able to back it up
I would say your boys learnt allot since your army does not conduct brigade sized combined-arms exercises that employ advanced network-centric command and control
Hell you boys don't even conduct basic brigade sized training
Stop posting different pics of different places with no South African military personnel. You can't just post a pics that shows nothing South African. What if the pics are from another country.
The pics I posted is the Chaka system in South African army. We want to see your officers in the control room like the 1 we posted.
jln115: "The CHAKA Blue Force Tracking system is a GPSenabled system that provides military commanders and forces with location information about own military forces. The system provides a common picture of the location of friendly forces and therefore is referred to as the “Blue Force” tracker. The system is currently utilized by the SA National Defence Force. The CHAKA Blue Force Tracking system can track land, air and maritime assets as the user requirements and specifications ensured that this is obtainable. The system consists of a CHAKA software enabled computer, used to display location information, a satellite terminal and satellite antenna, used to transmit and receive location and other military data, a Global Positioning System receiver (to determine its own position) and mapping software, in the form of a Geographic Information System (GIS), that plots the BFT device on a map. The system displays the location of the deployed Blue Force Tracking units on the computer’s terrain-map display in their respective locations. The Blue Force Tracking unit continually transmits its own location over the encrypted network. The CHAKA software enabled computer then monitors the location and progress of own forces and consolidate the data into a common operational picture, or COP."
"BattleTek IV supports war simulation exercises and training on the tactical and operational level of command. The system helps to improve Leadership competencies and to practice the “Art of War”. The objectives of simulations are to exercise: • Combat decision making on a tactical level. • Functioning and execution of C² measures. • Planning and execution of Staff and HQ procedures. • Execution of battle control. The BattleTek IV system provides comprehensive simulation support in terms of land, air and naval based warfare and conflict activities. The system is flexible in application and easy to maintain or expand. It utilises standard hardware components, infrastructure and IT equipment. BattleTek IV may also be used to evaluate and test plans and decision support, and to test and improve Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), doctrine and procedures. As it is WISE compliant it can be used as an exercise or scenario stimulator for HLA, MIP and DIS compliant systems. This supports the mantra: “Train as you Fight and Fight as you Train”. BattleTek IV caters for Multi Player, Multi Forces (Red, Blue and Neutral) and has a comprehensive After Action Review capability. It is scalable (supports 200 clients and can easily support up to 15 000 entities) has a fully integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) functionality with 2D map view."
Henry240: -Nigerian Proforce LAVs are used by the Rwandan police in the Central African Republic, "you remember this country right?"...... Same country SANDF special forces conspicuously ran away from after getting beaten blue-black.
- Proforce LAVs were also delivered to South-Sudan, but i do not know the country that ordered it, probably Rwanda.
Henry240: Yes, the Nigerian military did not learn anything new it did not previously know. Amani Africa II in terms of training, for a country like Nigeria, was only a Jamboree, a Carnival.
We did not learn anything.
I mean, the tactics employed by the SANDF as well as the tiny nations who joined the ACIRC are from the 70s. Those tactics have no place in today's battle field..
agaugust: LOL....United Nations dont buy junk equipment, they buy NATO standard. Nigeria has penetrated the arms export market, now we are competing with you ! We will soon overtake you like we did with GDP.....LOL....eny is hurting you real bad. Go ask UN how many they bought, its none of my business. Fact is that UN is now buying proudly made in Nigeria defence products, deal with it.
Lol, this guy thinks that selling one vehical now means they will compete with us?
In a mere couple of months Denel has received R1 BILLIONS worth of orders for the RG31 N35 and , do you think you can compete?
agaugust: AMANI trained only 5,000 troops, AU has only those men trained to deploy together.
If you rotate them with troops who did NOT train under AMANI doctrine, tactics, and equipment, then you have defeated the purpose, you end up with a rotational replacement/relieve force of a brand new set of 5,000 troops who have NEVER trained together ! Then we don't need an AU force trained in AMANI if we can deploy just any 5,000 troops randomly picked from 10 different countries....you have defeated the purpose of joint excercise, blending, and interoperability.
See how emotions blinds a man from reality of warfare.
The presumption is that if there is an active deployment exercises will be conducted to bring troops up to speed before they deploy!
See how much fun it is to speculate!
Fact is that professional soldiers and staff officers planned Amani Africa to be as it is, who are you to criticize it based on 2 hours of footage from a press demonstration?
iblawi: Guy this is getting too much. You guys don't even know enough about the capabilities of your equipments, we educate you guys rite here on nairaland. Now you want to tell us about our own equipment that you know nothing about. Before you fool yourself further, let me remind you that military equipment vary from country to country even with the same name just as your lynx have no ASW and it cannot carry any arms, same as your valour which has no ASW and can't even carry any torpedoes which are suppose to be standard. Now Imagine yourself going to read about our gazelle, Augusta or mi-17 helicopter online will anyone tell you they were armed dummy.
You are like a dummy going to look for Facebook in the library.
We are ahead of you and we don't make noise about it, it's SA that want to claim what they are not by posting pics of sub-standard equipment everywhere.
Use your head and stop derailing this tread.
If you want to argue come to the other thread so we can educate you about what you don't know.
Lynx is armed - .50 HMG Valour Class has ASW (Thales UMS4132 Kingklip sonar) as well as 4 324 mm torp tubes.
So no, you do not educate us.
You are the one throwing insults buddy, empty ones at that.
We are simply pointing out that Henry120 is mistaken when he proudly boasts "we didnt learn nuffing"
And you accuse me of de-railing the thread? let my remind you of who is responsible:
agaugust: I believe AU did not do a good training worth the effort in South Africa, AU problem, but the host should have provided an adequate battle theatre that reflects current African needs.....or are they only going to intervene in open land desert wars?
agaugust: Nigerian, Ugandan, Kenyan army do not train like that. Nigerian director, but he is compelled to act out a 100% South African style written training script.
Who does not know how artillery works? SANDF you mean? They have not fired artillery in combat since 20 years ago.
agaugust: The battle theatre provided by South Africa is grossly inadequate in terms of today's African conflict realities.
I said in a post a while back: Lets move on.
But you boys refused (see posts today by Augustus and Henry120)
