Most people do not understand why Nigerian army had to behead this Boko Haram fighter :
1. Nigerian troops were forced by circumstances.....
2. The Boko Haram man refused to die from bullet shots.
3. He had juju or spiritual anti-death talisman, black magical powers.
4. The only way to kill him is with a metal blade like a sword or cutlass/machete
5. It's the reason troops all over the world are allowed by UN laws of war to carry Bayonets...long knives
6. Any enemy you cannot kill by bullet you are allowed by UN Geneva convention on war, to kill by Knife
7. What is wrong in killing by sword? In Bible and Quran days when no gun existed, how did soldiers kill?
8. In the olden days you use a sword and behead 100 enemies if you get a chance
9. There is no UN law that says an enemy fighter must be killed strictly by bullets
10. Nigerian army shot the Boko Haram fighter, he did not die, read the first page story from the poster again at the beginning of that other thread https://www.nairaland.com/2627990/military-cuts-off-head-boko/12#38508843, the Boko was a leader, he was said to be STRONG, so strong was his juju black magical powers that bullets failed to kill him, then Nigerian army had to use their UN permited legally allowed combat Bayonet to behead him.
It happens on some rare occasions on our streets in Lagos, OPC or local anti-robbery Vigilante (Even Issakaba anti-robbery vigilante in Igbo land) have caught armed robbers whose leader will be shot by bullets and still remain alive laughing, until the OPC or night guards/local hunters use a machete or cutlass to cut off his head.
Tell the United Nations why Nigerian army did it, Amnesty International does not make laws for war, the UN convention does it, and it allows the use of army mini-swords called Bayonets in battle, the law does not specify which part of the enemy's body you can use Bayonet to cut, just feel free to use it on him any part of his body considered necessary by you to effectively kill your enemy.
Bayonet is often called 'Weapon Of Last Resort' .....that is when Bullets fail in combat'
I dare the United Nations to challenge me on this.

The ACIRC will serve as an interim measure ahead of the establishment of a permanent African Standby Force, which was originally expected to be operational by 2015. Zuma proposed the concept of the ACIRC at last year's African Union (AU) summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the proposal was endorsed. http://www.southafrica.info/news/international/au-270614.htm#.VgqjuHqqqko#ixzz3n8g95oflACRIC exists only because ASF does not and has the majority support of the AU. Bah told delegates the African Capacity for Immediate Response to Crises (ACIRC) would become part of the ASF. This means ACIRC, which SA Army Chief Lieutenant General Vusi Masondo said would be operational this month, effectively has a shelf life of six months if the December 2015 deadline for operationalisation is adhered to.-DefenceWeb Now that you understand what ACRIC is, and how its fits into the ASF you can feel free to stop de-railing this thread. My apologies to other forum members for engaging with the (self-proclaimed) troll.

africaken: boys and girls you are now witnessing the geopolitics shift of power ,the once developing china now causes tremors on the health of the global economic while Russia after the collapse of USSR is now once again affecting the trend of global conflicts With regards to china - they have a long way to go until they are anything other than a regional force/power. Buggers have no force projection As for Russia, well some commentators argue that their actions in Crimea/Ukrain and now Syria is more "backs to the wall" than some grand cunning scheme. Western backed maidan in Ukrain - Russians allmost lost their only black sea base (crimea) and had to do some craazy sh1t to keep it. And as a result their position is weaker than pre-maidan with sanctins and such. While Syria is a fairly desperate move bybthe Russians to stop them from losing their only naval base in the mediterannian. Assad has (sadly) been getting whooped in recent months and the SAA is only a shadow of what it was at the start of this year (back when it looked like they had a chance of winning). Russians are just propping Assad up rather than changing the war - in the hopes of keeping what land assad still holds. Putin has displayed exceptional finesse and cunning with his statesmanship. But unfortunatly the Russians are still on the defencive and the momentum and initiative remains with NATO. I too am thrilled with the deployment of Russian troops - time to remove jihadi!! |

agaugust: Prove it, prove how you know a classified secret system in detail.
"Speaking at the inaugural lecture of officers’ long course organised by the Nigerian Naval Ship (NNS) QUORRA, former Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Francis Akpan (rtd.) , said the system would assist in monitoring, tracking and collating maritime activities to protect national interest.
He also said the Falcon Eye system would enable the force monitor the movement of vessels within the country’s territorial waters and the Gulf of Guinea and enable them also to track such vessels and ultimately arrest them."
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/navy-acquires-israeli-surveillance-system-to-tackle-oil-theft/220493/
Falcon Eye covers the whole Nigerian EEZ and extends into Gulf of Guinea. South African navy will never get such sophistication, your South African navy is 100 years behind Nigerian navy, you lack a composite ocean monitoring and passive defense system combining air, sea, and coastal land equipment.
Submarines and frigates alone do not make a modern, effective, balanced and complete navy . and that is not at all what your citation has said You liar |

Southies don't know what sea warfare is in reality, all they know is to show photos of frigates and submarines, how it all works in sea battle is beyond their low calibre understanding . Nigerians have never conducted any real naval operations Nor do they have a navy |

lionel4power: three words
-- submerged range.
-- endurance.
anyway our Shaldag -class fast patrol boat fly's at 50knots and is armed with depth charge and 25mm cannon.
at 50knots we'll dribble SAN submarine while blasting her. with cannon and she can't touch the Shaldag -class fast patrol boat.
when SAN hears of the Shaldag -class fast patrol boat they all cower and tremble. Nope Sub will dive Shaldag will be left holding its di.ck doing nothing |

lionel4power: coastal artillery will pepper the submarine area with shells while alpha jets will bombard your Mandela boats. then you'll know why Nigeria has the best artillerymen in whole of Africa.
Gunfire has been used to disable submarines from the First World War onwards, a helicopter missile attack was used to disable the " Santa Fé" in the Falklands War.
Air-dropped bombs set to explode at a shallow depth, while the submarine ls submerged to escape attack.
you think because you have inferior submarine then you have any strategic advantage? delusional fool.. wake up from your dreaming. 1. We have allready dispelled the myth of coastal artillery 2. Yes, ancient ww1/ww2 submarines. Santa Fe was moored on a jetty when it was sunk 3. Yes, because a submarine is unable to dive deeper than a few meters... totally makes sense You have yet to tell us how you will engage a SAN Sub |

agaugust: [s]Your mathematics is bad because you have a Cape Colony South African low grade brain.
Your sub needs 200 nmi to get into our coastline.....your torpedoes have about 12 nmi range, you need to get close to our coast, you cannot fire short range torpedo from far distance.
Then the sub needs another 200 nmi to get out of our coastline, meaning it must NOT stay, hunt, or patrol on Nigerian coast for even one minute, or else you will be forced to fully snorkel inside our EEZ !
A snorkeling submarine is not a needle in a haystack, it is even visible to naked eyes from the sea and air !
Problem is, we Nigerians have rendered a $ 300 million South African submarine useless and powerless, bush meat pursuing the hunter[/s] . read my post before you waste my time with pointless responses |

South Africa has NEVER seen any thing like our Falcon Eye in your national history [/s] Citation needed |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 12:36am On Sep 22, 2015 |
agaugust: .....because of...
1. Need to always stay submerged to avoid massive air and sea surveillance by Nigeria, especially the new Nigerian navy sophisticated Falcon Eye electronic sensors that will detect even a kettle of tea floating on Nigerian EEZ waters even beyond the Gulf of Guinea.
2. Limited battery power.
3. Can only last initial 50 hours to sail in, and remaining 50 hours to sail out of Nigerian EEZ without any hour available to patrol or harass any ship which are already out of reach and safe in the harbour.
Your submarine will be seen on it's way snorkeling from your country and will be seen every time it snorkels in Nigerian waters !
Beware of Nigerian Navy's new Israeli made Falcon Eye 24 hour detection systems, only we have it in Africa ! NN is unique and world class . 1. Nope - i have alleady shown that it can stay submerged for the duration of its time in your EEZ 2. Limited how? 3. Why would it be loitering in your EEZ? It would be doing targetted strikes Your Falcon Eye covers your entire EEZ?? |

iblawi: I want to believe you don't know what you are saying.
you will launch 12km torpedoes from what distance.
Where will your valour be?
Even if you keep you valour in Gabon we will strike them dead. We will launch them from less than 12km... obviously Where will our Valour be? Out at sea! Strike them dead? How?? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 12:08pm On Sep 21, 2015 |
iblawi: What are you talking about? You need to move in 200nmi and move out 200nmi =400nmi already minus the the distance you will cover searching for our vessels which further reduce your distance to get out of our EEZ Are you this dump? Why would we waste time searching for vessels? Our Kondor-E will find them If we were to deploy the subs, it would be for targetted strikes and other such tactical operations. We dont have the capability to conduct strategic operations. That role will fall to the Valour Class |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 11:51am On Sep 21, 2015 |
iblawi: It will have no reserve cos it will still be in our EEZ. It can only move 400nmi submerged. Your subs are useless in Nigeria territorial water. Stop thinking you have a nuclear submarine and face the reality. I guess you watch too much films. Use your brain It has a range of apprx ~400nmi submerged Your EEZ extends only 200nmi from your coastline This means that we can submerge IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS, launch our strikes and exfil only to snorkel again in international waters What you fail to realize is the size of the area the sub will be operating in which makes the search like hunting a needle in a field full of haystacks This is just the first of the many flaws in your thinking |

agaugust: Since you chose to quote wikipedia, I will reply with wikipedia.
"Submarine surfacing to obtain navigational fixes is precluded by pervasive anti-submarine warfare detection systems such as radar and satellite surveillance. Antenna masts and antenna-equipped periscopes can be raised to obtain navigational signals but in areas of heavy surveillance, only for a few seconds or minutes; current radar technology can detect even a slender periscope while submarine shadows may be plainly visible from the air."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submarine_navigation
SAN submarine's tiny periscope or snorkel will be detected by NAF and NN radars with ease.
Your submarine will die premature death in Nigerian waters.
PROVED AND CASE CLOSED . Prove YOUR radar can detect it Also - have you bothered to work out the size of the area our subs will be hunting you? Its 298550km2 |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 10:59am On Sep 21, 2015 |
agaugust: Dive and Die, your unlucky submarine will dive back underwater and die there !
It was snorkeling for the purpose of desperately needed engine battery power recharge, buy now we have forced it to stop snorkeling and the survival battery will die, then your submarine will crash to sea bottom and die there crushed !
You submarine needs to choose how it prefers to die, by our aircraft attack or by empty battery causing a crash to the sea bed.
Hunter becomes the hunted, bushmeat dey catch the hunter, pursuer now pursued, your submarine will run away back home and report "FAILED : MISSION IMPOSSIBLE IN NIGERIAN HOSTILE WATERS."
Why would the submarine wait until it absutely has to surface? Why would it not keep enough reserves for combat? How will you engage it? |

agaugust: Your own encyclopedia source claiming large numbers confirms that those were NOT upgraded with modern composite/passive armour, they were given added old school RHA basic steel armour and double floor armour like a basic MRAP.
"The hull protection is enhanced by the installation of additional RHA armour to the glacis plate, nose beak, turret front, sides and front roof, placed with a large gap in between the original turret like a cofferdam, which could be filled if needed. The turret bustle also receive more stowage capability. The hull bottom is protected against mines by a double floor with the torsion bars between the two floor plates."

agaugust: Master Blaster comment
The South Africans though they have an American style Nuclear engine powered submarine that cans stay permanently under water.
Well, Niaja boys have now unblocked their blocked brains to realize that their submarine has only 4 days to submerge under water, and of that 4 days, ONLY 2 days can be spent in Nigerian Gulf of Guinea EEZ waters and ONLY a few minutes in Nigerian coastal territorial waters or else it will not have battery power to run out of our waters and go back home alive.
The Southie mumus thought their submarine will fight according to it's nice photograph posted all over internet, they forgot to check up it's technical and operational weaknesses.
The ignorant South Africandos don't know that the entire Nigerian EEZ is 100% covered by 500 km range sea search radars 24 hours surveillance, we also have 50 km range coastal TV Camera 24 hour surveillance with object detection images linked to a central command and control network-centric analysis computerized situational awareness management/control room. Nigerian waters have the most sophisticated electronic surveillance systems in all Africa from Cape Town to Cairo, they don't even know we now have the new sophisticated Israeli Falcon Eye complete EEZ 24 hours high powered electronic sensors surveillance systems.
No wahala, the Souties have agreed to park their Submarine safely 1,000 km away in Angola's waters, they have dismantled their naval blockade by themselves, fear of Nigeria's hunt and kill air/sea power, ah Naija u wicked o !
South African Submarine.....back to sender . You can't catch pirates How will you catch a sub? We knew do subs need to snorkel Fact you have no single counter against a sub You have said so yourself!!! |
