agaugust: Why do you keep about 130 units of Olifant Mk 1A in your armoury if you don't need them? SANDF will be forced to use those old obsolete tanks if you have to defend a huge region as big as Scotland like Nigeria did, your upgraded 44 Mk 1B tanks will not be enough to spread over 100 cities.
T-72 tank kontakt-5 ERA armour will defeat your ATGM, not to talk of T-90 tank that has it's own ATGM and composite impregnable armour, and anti-missile defence systems. Your SANDF has never fought against even a T-72 that has Kontakt-5 ERA armour, talk less of your rookie army fighting a T-90 tank.
Brah, think before you post! 1. Week over 200 olifant upgraded to mk2 status 2. Nope kontakt will not defeat an atgm- just look at Syria. Same with the T90 Nigeria has never fought a tank battle |

Henry120: The SAAF is a complete and utter Joke. Your Air Force is useless, and this is a fact that has been proven time and again.
It is astonishing your constant defence of your stupendously inept and incompetent Air Force even in the face of overwhelming evidence of the ineptitude of the SAAF. It tells about your overall delusional state.
The Nigerian Airforce on the other hand has carried out over 4,000 Combat sorties in 8 months. Resorting to petty insults Now? Henry120, you have yet to prove anything You can start with posting a Nigerian helo landing on a ship |

iblawi: South Africa has only 6 pilot for Gripen not 9. They are even considering selling them.
Four months after admitting that 12 of its 26 Gripen jet fighters had been placed in storage because they were too expensive to operate and there were not enough qualified pilots to fly them, South African officials admitted that the maintenance contracts for all the Gripens had expired in April. That made long term use of the Gripens dangerous. This contract was with a reliable, and expensive, South African firm (Denel). The maintenance contracts pay for ongoing support for the aircraft to include updates and warnings on problems other users have encountered as well as access to manufacturer engineers and maintenance experts. Aircraft become more dangerous to operate (if they operate at all) without regular maintenance and these maintenance contracts are a critical part of that. Some South African politicians are now calling for the Gripens to be sold, as there is not likely to be sufficient money to operate them and retain qualified pilots.
Currently only about half of the remaining 14 Gripens are flyable and there are only six qualified Gripen pilots. Corruption, shrinking defense budgets, and political pressure to find more black combat pilots and technical personnel has led to the South African Air Force having fewer operational aircraft. All this has been going on for over a decade.
For example, back in 2009, the South African Air Force stopped automatically releasing data on how many hours combat pilots flew for training. When the numbers were finally obtained, it was discovered that in 2008, fighter pilots were in the air for 325 hours (less than two hours a month per pilot). In contrast, pilots on VIP flights (carrying politicians and government officials) were up there 1,932 hours. There are about fifty transports and 80 helicopters in the air force at the time, and that number has continued to shrink.

You should post your own source. Nigerian airforce is far better than your SAAF. Your source is outdated saaf confirmed there were 18 Gripen aircrew back in late 2013 |

Henry120: It is not a simple AK-47. It's an OBJ-006
Nigerian Infantry Soldiers are the best kitted soldiers in Africa. Each soldier carries a minimum 5 Mags and tons and tons of extra armour in the APC or Truck.
The SANDF is a hopeless force lacking in everything, 400 men in the CAR had only a bag of medical kit to depend on, your troops had. Virtually no APCs in the CAR despite months and months of begging for one from Pretoria. Your soldiers also barely carry any radios.
SANDF = Useless! No, Nigerian soldiers carry only 30-60 rounds CAR is argument is ludicrous I won't waste my time on it And don't dare mention radios - that claim of yours is beyond farcical |

Henry120: Your cheap Israeli knock off is obsolete!
SAAF AW109 (click to view full) July 7/14: Review. South Africa’s own 2014 Defense Review process confirms the ongoing thrust of this article, even as it tries to lay out a 4-phase, 20-year plan to restore military effectiveness:
“According to the Review the SANDF is in a critical state of decline, is unsustainable and prime mission equipment, especially in the landward force, faces block obsolescence. “Ammunition stocks are depleted, infrastructure is falling apart, skilled staff is leaving and the arms of the various services operate in silos and are unable to manage basic procurement, which is centralised and run by the deputy director-general in the Defence Secretariat.” Our knockoff is Obsolete? And what of your copy of a copy of a gun from the 1950s? Don't talk to us when analysts have stated that your military has been in a critical state of decline for 16 years |

Henry120: You fool, you only have a single Pilot who can land at sea, this is somalia, burundi, malawi standard.
Only a soweto clown would think that's first world standard.
Fact : SAAF cannot perform it's basic duty of protecting the SA air space.
Fact : The hopeless SAAF is begging for pilots from commercial airlines to fly it's assets as the current crop of pilots are to dull to fly the Gripen, Hawk , Puma Helicopter and every other asset.
Fact : only 1 SAAF pilot is qualified to land at sea.
Fact : SAAF only has 9 Gripen Pilots and none of them are combat qualified.
Fact : the SAAF is an inherently useless force. Henry120 continues with double standards and strawman arguments You fool, you only have a single Pilot who can land at sea, this is somalia, burundi, malawi standard1. Fact : SAAF cannot perform it's basic duty of protecting the SA air spaceWith 14 Gripen and 26 Hawk operational inbound say we are in a better position to do so than you But your position is worse: Nigeria has an Air Force with few functional aircraft. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is largely irrelevant. - global security Fact : The hopeless SAAF is begging for pilots from commercial airlines to fly it's assets as the current crop of pilots are to dull to fly the Gripen, Hawk , Puma Helicopter and every other assetThis is simply a complete and utter lie and is not at all what the article says It shows your desperation to find stuff to criticse us over when you have to resort to MAKING THINGS UPFact : only 1 SAAF pilot is qualified to land at sea.1. Killer blow: refer to your own thread and see Oryx and Lynx landing on vessels during recent operations Fact : SAAF only has 9 Gripen Pilots and none of them are combat qualified. You have been saying this for months - but you can't provide any proof to substantiate it Fact : the SAAF is an inherently useless force.Nigeria has an Air Force with few functional aircraft. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is largely irrelevant.
As of 2009, most of its fleets were grounded and its training institutions were constrained with shortages of technical skills such as instructors and institutional facilities
Depot Maintenance (PDM) with time, and not by hours flown, because they are most of the time grounded for unserviceability .- global security Yes again you apply 1st world standards to us but fail to apply them to yourselves Your airforce is a joke, your constant attacks on the SAAF is nothing more than the projection of your own insecurities |

agaugust: You are talking about past tense, old story, the story has changed, Nigerian army has won it's war. Nobody cares about the past events. What matters in any war is the end. Germany was winning world war II defeating France, Poland, Holland, etc in 1940-1943 but lost the whole war and surrendered in 1945. Is Germany getting any global praise for the earlier victory? Nope, they lost the whole war at the end.
Best performing army in Africa 2015, Nigerian army has....
- Killed Shekau I - Killed Shekau II - Uprooted Shekau III into oblivion - Recovered or destroyed all lost armoured vehicles - Demolished all Boko heavy weapons/armoured vehicles and reduced them to motorcycle and Golf car riders - Executed German army style Blitzkreig war speed flushing Bokos out of 45 towns in 45 days - Used Boko Haram's caliphate flags to mop the floor - Set a new world record combat speed of a string of cascading victories in a huge battle theatre the size of Scotland - Wiped off and blasted all Boko caliphates into total non-existence - Beat USA/UK/NATO/Russian/Israeli army records of COIN - Won the heart of Egypt and praise of Israel - End of story in Nigerian army's favour !

agaugust: That means SANDF is so dumb you don't even know where your enemy comes from, Rhino poachers are from across border Zimbabwe and Mozambique, South Africa is being invaded by armed men and you cannot stop them for ever.....failed bush war at home
"South Africa is currently experiencing a catastrophic rhino poaching crisis, with 668 rhinos lost during 2012. It is now evident that Mozambique has played a key role in this illegal killing.
The vast majority of rhinos killed in South Africa are poached in Kruger Poached rhino Limpopo South Africa (C) Sarah NelsonNational Park, which shares a long, porous border (356km) with Mozambique, where most of the poachers come from. Poachers from Mozambique are easily able to illegally slip across the border into Kruger National Park, and even if South African National Parks rangers are able to detect them, they are unable to carry out the ‘hot pursuit’ once the poachers have crossed the border back in Mozambique. During March 2013 alone, Kruger Park recoded 72 known cross-border armed incursions from Mozambique. Of the 94 rhino related arrests in South Africa this year, 44 of these have been in Kruger (9 May 2013)."
https://www.savetherhino.org/rhino_info/thorny_issues/mozambiques_role_in_the_poaching_crisis 1. SANDF have no "enemy" since they are not involved in fighting poaching 2. Since the deployment on the border cross-border poaching has declined massively. Poaching is an internal problem and is not related to the Sandf Stop trying to create an argument out of nothing Rather focus on fixing your broken navy! |

agaugust: If those Rhinos are useless animals, why are you so worried about them you deployed a whole 21 battalion of SANDF and air force helicopters to fight save them? Why did you use aircraft to fly mere animals like VIP men to hide in escape to Botswana after the poachers defeated SANDF in your own homeland bush where your COIN and bush war tactics have failed you?
Those Rhinos are your natural resources with money value of millions dollars made on Rhino horns in the world market.
Same way if invaders from Zimbabwe cross border to steal your gold in illegal mining, will you say it's ordinary minerals not human beings?
It is the moral duty, and constitutional duty of ALL MILITARY FORCES in the world to defend the territorial integrity of their country when foreigners violate your land from another country, yes the territorial integrity and independence of South Africa is daily violated by Zimbabwean Rhino poachers, that is a job for SANDF your military, not your Forest Ranger men, your national land is now being invaded and your natural resources of Rhino horns is being looted daily in a brutal bloodshed of the Rhinos.
It is the duty of South African military to defend South Africa from armed foreigners, SANDF has failed at home, your COIN skills are ZERO and your Bush war tactics are a FAILURE in your own fatherland......thanks to your INEXPERIENCED ARMY and incompetent Generals
