Henry120: Fact: South-African Navy has no modern OPVs. Come back to us when you have one.
FACT: Nigeria has no operational frigates FACT: Nigeria has no modern Frigates FACT: Nigeria has no modern warships at all FACT: Nigeria has no submarines FACT: Nigeria has no Maritime Supply Vessel
Henry120: Your Project Biro comprises of only 3 OPVs and 3 IPVs. This was worth waiting 23 years for in your Soweto Country of dunderheads?
Anyways your claims about OPVs are simply that, claims, or purportedly.
Who says we have been waiting 20 years?
Between the year 2000 and 2020 we will have acquired 4 advanced Frigates, 3 advanced Subs,1 brand new state-of-the-art Hydrographic Vessel, 3 state-of-the-art OPV's and 3 state-of-the-art IPV's, 4 State-of-the-art Lynx Helicopters, a plethora of T-craft, with plans allready underway to acquire a new maritime supply vessel
Its no contest, you have only got 2 modern major-surface vessels, with no war-fighting capabilities and both are pathetically small. One Warrior Class Strike Craft could wipe out your whole surface fleet.
Henry120: At least they do not come with a defective obsolete combat suites like your Frigates.
Combat suites on our frigates are neither defective nor obsolete.
Allegations by a buisnesman who is emotional because his company lost out on bidding are baseless when you consider the plethora of vessels that operate the exact same combat-suite (French Flagship Nuclear Powered Carrier, 5 La Fayette class Frigates and the Saudi Flagship the F1000 Air-Defence Frigate)
Fact is that we operate 4 Modern Frigates and 3 Modern subs.
In the same period of time you have aquired only 2 modern vessels - both are only lightly armed OPV's.
Henry120: You are purportedly getting 3 OPVs and IPVs.
Nigeria has 2 of Africa's long Endurance Vessels all with start of the art R-MACK systems on-board, we also have 2 very very modern light frigates( NNS Centenary and Unity). The Navy is also currently building more Ships.
We don't need a project to induct IPVs, NNS Andoni, Damen class IPVs, WAS IPVs, catamarans
Like I've said previously, virtually every year is a Project Biro for the Nigerian navy.
You terrible terrible liar, you said you were getting 3 Frigates, 3 OPVs(including, mostl likely the Gowind class OPVs) and 3 IPVs.
You have 2 obsolete 60 year old vessels which were stripped of all major systems by the Americans
NNS Centenary and Unit are not "light frigates", in size and displacement they are simply Corvettes at best, they come in at 1800 tons and 95 m - the Valour Class are "light Frigates" (as most FFG's are) and they displace 3700t and are 127m long.
You have a limited supply of low-capacity IPV's... mere patrol boats. Ours will not only be Patrol Boats but will be equipped for ASW and de-mining operations.
You say I am a liar? My comments are all on record, feel free to quote me where I said we were getting 3 Frigates, 3 OPV's 3IPV's. I have never said that.
Equipment dirbbiling in here and there will be more of a curse than a blessing
Maintaining a couple dozen RG32 here, and some Casspir there, and some Maxxpro's overthere is going to be nearly impossible for an army with allmost no support capacity. Most of them will end up being Hangar queens or getting cannibalized
A whole span of Casspir 2000's (which us a chassis and engine from the Ural series of trucks) or a hundred or so buffel/UniBuffel (Unimog chassis and engine) would be much better... not as flashy, but low-tech with parts commonality and veery common parts is better for such a young military
I guess beggars cant be choosers though
What happened to the left overs of the Somali National Army (1980's) equipment... most of it is supposedly abandoned... are efforts being made to reclaim and reactivate that equipment?
agaugust: . South African navy's fake OPV drowning half way at sea....sailors cannot even fight in this condition, they are actually fighting to survive the huge sea waves every hour....can't operate their guns.....dead SAN....OPV dead....Angola hates to call the so called blue water Soweto navy for help, they call on Nigerian navy for action.....so who has a functioning blue water navy based on current threats in Africa today? Nigeria !
PHOTO OF SOWETO OPV HALF DROWNED AT SEA, SAILORS CRYING TEARS AND GULPING SEA SALT WATER INTO STOMACH .
In your picture the Ship is firing a missile - so they are obviously fighting in those conditions
Angola did not call you, you found the pirates inside YOUR waters
You dont have a blue water navy - South Africa does (4 Frigates, 3 submarines, Maritime replenishment vessel). You dont even have a navy - you have a coast guard!!
O, I see, you said "based on current conditions"... well guess what, our Frigates have longer range, carry better sensors and have operational helos... and we have a re-supply vessel that extends their range... so we still win in AP duties
Go back to bragging about your 44 year old fleet of Coast Guard worthy vessels
agaugust: Your sailors are dying of vomit with your fake OPV half swallowed by high sea waves....your men cannot even man their boat's guns to fight, the 76mm main gun is now covered with water
SAN is OPV dead ! .
1. They are out there patrolling right now, like they have been for the last 30 years. So what if the ride is rough? They are sailors, they train for it and do it every day.
2. HAHAHAHAHAH You think men actually physically man the gun in combat?? Are you ret.arded?
Brah, go back to bragging about the floating Museum that is your navy!
agaugust: 1. Nigeria commissioned 4 warships in one day, show me which African country does that. South Africa can only dream of such in year 2080.
2. few boats and tugs? Nope, NNS Centenary is a light frigate size stealth OPV, NNS Okpabana is a frigate size OPV with longest range in Africa.
3. South African navy fake Warrior Strike OPVs are half sinking inside heavy waves of the sea, sailors half drunk with sea water
4. Everyday is a live Project Biro reality in Nigeria ! .
1. Nigeria commissioned 4 warships in one day:
NNS Centenary - new OPV
NNS Prosperity - 38 year old vessel de-comissioned by the Irish Navy. Second hand scrap.
NNS Okpabana - 74 year old vessel decomissioned by the USCG. Obsolete trash fit only for being smelted down into razor blades.
NNS Sagbama - Type 62 Patrol boat, a class of vessels abandoned by the Chinese Navy due to obsolescence, a 65 year old design
You come to us and brag about this? This trash-heap? These floating museum pieces? ALL FOUR VESSELS HAVE AN AVERAGE AGE OF 44 YEARS OLD!!
Yes, no one in Africa does that, because no one in Africa is that ST.UPID!!
2. NNS Centenary is a Corvette, NNS Okpadana is GERIATRIC
3. No, South African Warrior Class OPV's are currently patroling the waters of Mozambique
4. Everyday is suffering for the Nigeria navy - a dumping ground for ancient and obsolete equipment!!
Henry120: Why don't you tell us how many years Project Biro has lasted for, from inception till date? Andrewza said it was from 1996 - till date, however i have evidence that is an Apartheid Era program.
Every year is a Project Biro for the Nigerian Navy, we don't need to wait 23 years to procure 6 vessels.
Post your evidence then
Every year is a project biro for you? You only have 2 modern OPV's!
It was urban warfare from 2009, the Bokos ran into the forest after Nigerian military defeated them 2009 to 2013 and Nigerain SF went into the Sambisa forest to kill Shekau I in 2013.....there was no South African PMC Eben Barlow here in 2013.
The bush tactics of Eben Barlow was of very very little benefit to the final offensive and final victory, the war was an urban city war 98 %
50 towns and 1 forest = Urban city warfare 98 %
Nigerian COIN brigade trained by Russia did the job 90%.....yet the Russians are not taking glory like you Southies that did less than 1%....You even want to ignore the contribution of Chad, Niger and Cameroon....or Eben Barlow was leading the whole four nations armies and air forces as field marshall ?
LIAR LIAR !!!! .
Operating from bases in the bush they attacked your towns
That is why your first major offensives in 2013 focused on Sambisa forest - where their main bases are.
Nigerian COIN Brigade did not take part in the fighting
"Each batch received Russian-style specialised counter-insurgency warfare training for four months and on return will form the core of a new Nigerian army special forces brigade which is being created to take the lead in the army's faltering offensive amid massive territorial gains in the northern states of Borno and Adamawa by the Islamist Boko Haram group. "
agaugust: Sambisa forest was the last battle, so you are very very wrong !
45 towns liberation and caliphate destruction in urban warfare were the first battles, January to March was 45 major urban city battles not bush war. Towns liberation largely ended on March 28, 2015 before the presidential elections.
Nigerian army Special battalions got ADVANCED COIN training under Russian Army for 4 months and returned to North East Nigeria to lead in the battles that finally defeated Boko Haram -
.
Contrary to lies told by many world news reports and publications, the final assault on Boko Haram that defeated the terrorists was led by the Nigerian army special COIN Brigade trained quickly by Russian army from August 2014 to January 2015.
The Russian army has many years of war experience against Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan called Mujahedeens and transferred their skills to several battalions of the Nigerian army's special forces COIN Brigade....
"The Nigerian security services have sent 1 200 personnel to Russia where they are receiving advanced counter-insurgency training from Russian special forces and will return to form the nucleus of a special counter-insurgency force which will be deployed to fight Boko Haram militants.
Each batch received Russian-style specialised counter-insurgency warfare training for four months and on return will form the core of a new special forces brigade which is being created to take the lead in the army's faltering offensive amid massive territorial gains in the northern states of Borno and Adamawa by the Islamist Boko Haram group. "
I only mentioned just a few Western planes that have crashed within that month, of course there was also the case of a C-130 crashing into a residential area, the Thai F-16 that flew straight from the Runway and into the sewer, the curious case of a Saudi F-15 crashing into the sea and many more.....
No, the F-35 got it's ass handed to it on a platter by a cold war relic, now that's thoroughly pathetic.
I hope you also do remember that the SU-30MKI also had some of it's integral capabilities turned off. The exercise proved that an F-15 is no match for an under-strength SU-30. SU-30's scored 90% of all kills.
1. 6 Russian jets crashed in a month. You have to cross the globe to come up with simular figures - I am JUST talking about Russia. 6 in a month. And even including the whole world you cannot beat that number!
2. F35 is under development still, F35 has not had its WVR coding finished, F35 is not designed with the same needs or role as the F16 and the same thing happened to the F16 when it got introduced.
3. No, I dont remeber, because that did not happen. Fact is that the USAF platforms had to have their capabilities severely degraded and they outnumbered the Americans
First of all, the lack of the advanced active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar on their F-15s. Second, the air engagements typically involved six Eagles against up to eighteen IAF aircraft with no chance to simulate any beyond visual range (BVR) missile shot (due to the Indian request of not using the AMRAAM). http://theaviationist.com/2014/05/02/cope-india-2004-results/
So well done, you have shown that when you take away the focal point of NATO air doctrine (BVRM attack) and then outnumber them 3:1 you can beat them
You are also forgetting that at Red Flag in 1v1 fights against the USAF the Indians got so badly obliterated that they REFUSED to do any more 1v1 combat
Henry120: Although I don't agree with Evarn's post on the 4++ fighter, I however refuse the premise of your own rebuttal.
Nigeria has continued to defy logic, in 1999 nobody believed that Nigeria could produce sh1t......... yes SHIT!!!!!!!! in any sector, not to even talk of the military. In 1999 only debts were in the minds of Nigerians, but today, the Nigerian Airforce is currently developing it's very own Trainer/ Surveillance plane. Nigerian military systems non-existent in the battlefield, have now become BASIC common place in todays battlefield, From LAV's - Igirigi MRAPs - Drones - IPVs- Ships - Tug boats - Infantry systems - to complex Nigerian designed and deployed surveillance systems in the eastern naval command.
Can Nigeria build a 4++ generation fighter in the coming years...... The answer to this question is simply, Nobody knows. I do not know!!
No nigeria cannot
You have not developed anything particularly "complex" yet
Henry120: 1. So why did you post that F-22 video, and you captioned it as an F-22 doing a vertical takeoff?
2. You should probably visit an eye clinic now, before you condition gets worse. I said the Pakistanis now have the Option of using the WS-13(17).
3. 2 Gripens Jets of the same class and same Airforce crashed with a period of 17 days. A brand new F-16, that hasn't even been delivered to it's owners crashed in the desert, killing it's Pilot.
The F-35 got it's a$s handed to it by a cold war relic. This is just pathetic.
The SU-30MKI took on Front-line U.S Dogfighters and scored over 90% of all kills. ....... Now, this is sad!
You are a mumu, I'm not referring to the Mig-29 or SU-30. Make a coherent argument.
6 Russian jets crashed in a MONTH - including a brand new one.
You have no argument here because all you can claim is that 3 NATO jets crashed.... wow so insulting
F-35 is still in development and WVR coding is not complete, while the F16 and F35 were designed with different roles in mind. And in the article they said that the same thing happened when they introduced the F16 to replace the Phantom.
When did the Su-30MKI do this? Are you talking about India? Have you actually read about those exercises? You know that the Americans capabilities had to be severely limited in order for the Indians to even stand a chance?
AugustineAgain: 1. You know almost NOTHING about the Boko Haram war, it did NOT start in Sambisa forest, the war started in Maiduguri city under Mohammed Yussuf.....you are a complete ignoramus domingo
2. Tide of the war was turned by T-72 tanks and Mi-35 Hind E......plus 5,000 Nigerian army new COIN brigade that arrived for final offensive after COIN war tactics training in Russian army and Pakistani army....the Russians gave us the most relevant training their army's combat experience in Afghanistan against Islamic Mujahedeen terrorist forces, and that was an exact copy of Boko Haram.....120 Nigerian troops trained by Eben Barlow's PMC (NOT your SANDF army, Eben is a private company man) is just a tiny drop in an ocean.
Russian army should be the ones bragging about saving Nigeria with 5,000 troops they trained under their COIN special forces and sent to Nigeria for final offensive.....SA did next to nothing !
3. Liberian rebels were double the size of Boko Haram and Charles Taylor had military training and weapons from Libyan army through Ghadaffi, they were 10 times more powerful than Boko Haram, they defeated the National army of Liberia.....and Nigeria demolished them finally. SANDF has no such achievement with rebels in C.A.R Bangui, the war out-lived your elite troops and Gripen jets that sat down in Congo.
Sierra Leonean rebels defeated their country's national army, E.O mercenaries of Eben Barlow failed to defeat the rebels, so the Sierra Leonean president Captain Valentine Strassser sacked the South African mercenaries and replaced them with Nigeria army, and that is how Freetown became free, Nigeria won the war.
Nothing close to those achievements exist in South African army history.....SANDF has ZERO success achievement....Remember Seleka fiasco ! .
1. First major combat operations were in Sambisa Forest
2. Lol - now some new brigade exists? Who says they were there? You? 120 mercenaries trained many more than just 120 men, and those merc's flew your hinds. Victory belongs to them
3. Liberian rebels were not even worthy of being called militia, let alone insurgents. They were pathetic. And your men who were unable to defeate them were equally pathetic. The fight in CAR is an immense acheivement!
EO annihalted those rebels in a couple of months! Nigeria was unable to finish off the Rebels, you had to beg the English and Americans to do it for you!
Seleka fiasco? You mean the battle were 200 of our men stopped over 2000 enemy fighters dead in their tracks for over 13 hours, inflicted over 400 casualties for the loss of only 13 men and then got the rebels to offer a ceasefire? Is that a fiasco?
agaugust: [s]5,000 troops of newly forcmed Nigeria army COIN Brigade arrived from Russian army SF and Pakistani army SF training to start the final offensive....120 Nigerian troops trained by Eben Barlow are a drop in an ocean....95% of foreign credit goes to Russia/Pakistan.
Russian army should be the one claiming glory, not South Africa....and Eben Barlow is NOT in your army, he is a private company trainer.
SANDF has NOTHING to claim in Nigeria's victory, your army NEVER left South Africa ! [/s]
africaken: thats russian army future concept soldier
Henry120: For sure, it's a photoshop. The Soldier in that photo is a Russian Soldier in Crimea, he is also facing front and not to his left side as the photoshop would have us believe.
Yep
The closest to the "future soldier" is the French FELIN system which is undergoing feild testing as we speak in CAR
And, to be honest, it must fvcking suck to have to lug all that extra sh1t around
