agaugust: [s]No, SAAF has NO ISTAR capability, what you have is ordinary Recce.
F-7 jets carries Recce pod, does that make a jet fighter an ISTAR aircraft? No !
So NAF can call our F-7 jets ISTAR aircraft? Why did we buy ATR-42 and Beechcraft 350ER ?
SAAF Gripen carries the same Recce pod made for Jaguar jets, so NAF too cxan claim our 18 Jaguar jets are ISTAR aircraft?
"Easily integrated onto any air platform, the DJRP is a robust, lightweight, low drag structure with a combat proven pedigree on numerous aircraft types including Jaguar, Tornado, Harrier and Hawk and has been selected by the South African Air Force for Gripen"
https://www.thalesgroup.com/en/nited-kingdom/defence/air-group/isr/digital-joint-reconnaissance-pod
Recce pods do NOT make ISTAR aircraft, manyb jet fighters all over the world carry Recce pods and nobody is calling them ISTAR aircraft.....
SAAF is 66 years behind NAF, your toy Recce pods works on our old 1980s Jaguar jets[/s][s][/s]
. Do you need to be reminded what ISTAR is? |

agaugust: You have never seen such in South Africa? Yes, Nigeria showed you a mystery . So you actually think that this is somehow impressive? Shows the low standards you Nigerians have |

agaugust: Gripen recce pod can only work at medium or low altitude, so enemy anti-aircraft defenses will eat all your Gripens for breakfast
APPLICATIONS
• Air tactical IMINT tasks • Medium and low level reconnaissance • Border Patrol, BDA, Foliage Penetration • Support to Land Forces and SF • Time sensitive targeting • Suitable for all fast jet, MUAV and commercial aircraft
https://www.thalesgroup.com/sites/default/files/asset/document/DJRPc_06_12.pdf
SAAF is 66 years behind NAF . And so? Your ATR-42 cannot operate in a contested air-space at all. Gripen is a combat jet - it is designed to operate in contested air-space. Operations in Libya prove it. SAAF ISTAR can operate in contested airspace Nigerian ISTAR cannot Proven by the fact that NATO chose the Gripen and not the ATR-42 to perform ISTAR duties in Libya!!! |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 2:20am On Jun 11, 2015 |
agaugust: Your level of tech is 66 years old, SAAF belongs to the stone age when no ELINT-ISTAR existed . So, the Gripen - which can be configured for ISTAR - is 66 years old? So the Thales ground search radar is 66 years old? So the Kondor-E is 66 years old? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 2:20am On Jun 11, 2015 |
agaugust: Something South Africa does NOT have.... ATR-42 Surveyor aircraft....ISTAR master of Africa....NAF . You have some TV screens in an Aircraft? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 2:19am On Jun 11, 2015 |
agaugust: The only battle tested data-link in Africa is Nigerian military top brass sitting in Abuja HQ, and watching live battle in Sambisa forest real-time video images and commanding/controlling a whole war hundreds of kilometers away.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/amosu-how-we-monitored-sambisa-military-operations-from-abuja/208413/
No country in Africa has ever done that in history.
Nigerian data-link works, that's the difference between us and SANDF . Lol - the battle tested claim is all you have. All you have is some assets that are linked into some ground stations SANDF with LinkZA has multiple systems communicating with each other - drones, fighters, artillery, jets, tanks, helicopters, infantry You dont have that and never will We are capable of net-centric warfare You are not |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:15am On Jun 11, 2015 |
agaugust: Show us the integrated multiple computer systems console of your Super Lynx helicopter used for large scale data processing, battle space command and control......and post how many hours your helicopter will fly....after abandoning the Valour frigate....or your navy warships sail inside desert ?
Odenson , Olodo, South Africa has NO dedicated ISTAR aircraft
Your overhyped country is 66 years behind Nigeria . Gripen is 66 years old? Our brand new Kondor-E is 66 years old? Such desperation |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:13am On Jun 11, 2015 |
agaugust: Was Boko Haram desert war theater a maritime battle? NAF used ATR-42 to watch Boko Haram inside their bush toilet and gave their coordinates by datalink to our helicopters and artillery.
Surface search radar = ground + maritime = ATR-42 ISTAR power.
NAF is 66 years ahead of SAAF. Gripen van perform ISTAR in a contested airspace Unlike yours NAF ISTAR = coast guard SAAF= airforce |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:11am On Jun 11, 2015 |
agaugust: ATR-42 will do ground search radar up to 330 km, so NAF is 100 times more powerful in ISTAR role . That is not the distance of its ground search Proven long ago |

agaugust: Libya is a place where NATO air forces executed a SEAD before Gripen could safely do Recce, 5% of the total Recce work.....America, Britain, etc did the real job in Libya.
Gripen jet Recce pod can only work at medium/low altitude where enemy air defenses will roast it for dinner . Citations needed |

agaugust: Wasting your own time, I already posted the name earlier before you today. Eat your humble pie by yourself or share it with Patches, he's always hungry. You mean the moment you admitted your deceitful ways |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 3:27pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
agaugust: Gripen CANNOT do Recce in a defended airspace.
Manufacturer specs data sheet says your freaking toy Recce pod can only work at medium to low altitude making your Gripens roasted meat for enemy air defenses . 1. Citation needed 2. What is Libya? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 3:26pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
agaugust: Citation needed for your claim of 50 km.
Last year you said it's 300 km, I said it's 330 km....and now you cut it down to 50 km, so post citation for that 50 km radar range of ATR-42...NOW ! . Old arguments Consult the archives |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:17pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
agaugust: What is the range of your Recce pods? NAF has over 300 km range ISTAR radars
What is it's max altitude since it is only a medium / low altitude equipment .....limited capability
What is the patrol endurance hours of Gripen? It was doing about 30 minutes in Libya, NAF does 7 hours.
Your Gripen is NOT ELINT capable.
What are the electronic support systems and computer network console data processing capacity ? See NAF below, show us your SAAF !
. 1. ATR radar range is around 50km as has been shown before 2. Who says its medium/low altitude equipment - provide a citation to substantiate that claim 3. Gripen patrol range is not 30min - we educated you on that when you first brought it up. Gripen is ISTAR, do you need to be reminded of the definition of ISTAR? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:09pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
agaugust: Citations needed.
All the above can be done with normal radio communication, don't need data-link.
Then in 2010, SANDF datalink was in infance, so how did you use it for world cup?
Citation needed ! . Citations have been provided multiple times Consult the archives |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 1:07pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
agaugust: Not all SANDF equipment is integrated, Andrewza said it's in phases and slowed down by costs/money . cite where he said that Doesnt change the fact that a plethora of evidence has been produced regarding the use of LinkZA by multiple systems in the SANDF |

agaugust: ....reminder that I educated you on your own equipment you did NOT know I knew - hence I said we had it. You either: 1. Did not know because you are a terrible researcher 2. Did know and lied - because you are deceitful Which is it? If you knew why did you say: agaugust: , NOBODY has EVER named any Gripen Recce pod for SAAF, because you have NONE . agaugust: Nope, Gripen jets of SAAF have NO Recce pods for ISTAR, . Now, deal with the fact that SAAF has ISTAR that can operate in an uncontested airspace |

SAAF Gripen jets = ZERO capability for ISTAR
Name the Recce pods you have for Gripen, and the country that sold the Recce pods to you, tell us now ! . Been posted many times. Beg me to post it again. Say: "Please baas, educate me" FYI: Hawks have them too |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 12:34pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
Henry120: Link ZA, nothing to show it is operational. Provide citations proving the entire system is operational or has been used in actual service.
That Nigeria's Data link is fully integrated isn't in doubt. We have and continue to see it's operational use.
The entire program in Nigeria is called, Network Enabled Capabilities (NEC), or Network Enabled Combat Capabilities. 1. Multiple examples of the use of LinkZA have been posted on multiple occasions- across all arms of the SANDF, from hawks using the data-link for targetting, from artillery using it for hitting moving targets, from SF doing HALO jumps into the ocean to rendevuez with submarines in radio silence, from the intergration of blue force trackers, from Valour Class being used to moniter air-space during FIFA, from the new Thales ground search radar interoperability, with the systems to Gripen live-streaming Recon, with new section radio's that link into the data-link, with Rooivalk data-link compatability etc etc etc 2. There is ZERO proof or citations to suggest that your data-link is intergrated apart from a few indivdual assets Citations needed for your last statement Now, you have made claims, prove them. First, you can name your data-link Then, you can cite instances of its use (and dont post nonsense about some platform transmitting to a ground station - show us different platforms sharing data-between them) and then list your data-link capable systems |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 12:31pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
Henry120: They actually did. The SANDF demanded payment from the dead Pilot's estate. Despite the fact that the Pilots of that ill-fated C-47 Dakota had complained about the general serviceability of the Dakota.
* truth is, i'm not even spitting them.
The comment was made by the National secretary of the South-African National Defence Union. 1. Pilots did not complain about servicibility 2. SAAF is demanding the return of its property |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Patchesagain: 12:30pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
Henry120: The SANDF demanded pay from the dead man. This is pathetic to be honest.
*i'm not saying this to spite South-Africa either. 1. SAAF is demanding the R16 000 that he was OVER PAID before his death 2. SAAF is demanding the return of its property |
