I did not say Nigeria, I said Alpha jet as a platform in general
.
So how then is that relevant to the argument?

The company completely ripped off the South-African government.

S.A government paid too much for a substandard system. Anyway, trust patches689 to deny the obvious.

SA Navy frigates combt suites are obsolete!!
Same combat suite is in operation in the French navy with their newest firgates, their flagship and the Saudi's newest warship.

So the french ripped themselves off as well?

Bwahahahaha grin grin

This Patches is a complete ZERO brain !

La Fayette is a 20 year old French frigate, it was even built before the Valour frigate, you are comparing your Valour frigate with an older warship that no longer a lead ship of France. Fool grin grin

Valour frigate systems are 95% obsolete, 20 year old stuff, plus a 38 year old main gun !

FREMM frigate is the new ship of the French navy, why not compare your junk Valour frigate with a FREMM frigate, are you afraid ?
.
La-Fayette enetered was commissioned in 1996

Valour Class was commissioned less than 10 years later.

Combat suite is from that era of weapons designs.

If the valour class has an obsolete system, then so does 5 of frances most modern frigates and their flagship - the Nuclear Powered Charles DeGaulle carrier.

Henry120:
It is obsolete and doesn't even meet the requirements of the SAN.
1. Where does it say in your source that it is obsolete?
2. Where does it say in your source that it does not meet requriements?
3. Why would the french navy install obsolete technology on their flagship and latest Frigates?
4. Why would the Saudi's install obsolete technology on their latest and most advanced frigate?

Stop wasting out time with pointless emotionally driven arguments.

Valour frigates carry 1990s generation combat suite and navionics, plus a 1977 gun that wrecks the stealth capability.

That ship is crap, real crap for $300 million each...fraud....rip off !
.
Considering they entered service at that time, the age of their combat suites makes sense.

Unless you wish the designers to travel into the future, get technology, and then travel back in time to install it.

Argument is irrelevant, combat suite on the Aradu is 35 years old.

What is the radar cross section of the guns turret? I dont think you understand what stealth is

Show us technical specs of combat suites comparing 1999 Valour frigate with 2015 French destroyers. Fool !

Frances uses superior weapons, missiles, guns, torpedoes on French warships
.
The class’ combat management system (CMS), apparently accounts for about 40 percent of each ship's cost) was provided by Thales Detexis at a total cost of R2.599 billion. The Tavitac system is also fitted to the French La Fayette-class frigate and versions are aboard the Saudi F3000 air defence frigates and the nuclear aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.

Same combat suite.

You said it is defective.

If this is so, then so is the combat suite of 5 practically brand new French Frigates and their Nuclear Powered Carrier and Flagship

Obviously, it is not defective or else they would not use it.

Henry120:
[b]The said proposed architecture ("CS7 mod 1"wink made use of the CCII Systems's IMS, but in conjunction with the Tavitac CMS, thus requiring an alteration to the data-transfer protocols linking the CMS to the IMS.
200. These alterations would have involved :
200.1 incorporating a so-called Bridge Interface Unit;
200.2 incorporating a Dual Protocol Stack;
at additional cost to CCII Systems.
201. All the proposed alternative architectures, including "CS7 mod 1", deviated from :
201.1 the formally accepted combat suite baseline which was at that time embodied in the Combat Suite Functional Specification ("the Functional Specification"wink and Combat Suite System Design Document ("System Design Document"wink; and
201.2 the URS subsequently issued in December 1998 and revised in March 1999.
202. At the same design review meeting in August 1998, representatives of ADS (among others, Messrs D.N. Hiles, D.C. Law-Brown and K.C. O'Neill) sought to undermine CCII Systems's IMS by asserting that the IMS (and the architecture associated with it) entailed an unacceptable risk.
203. At a meeting of the technical committee held at Mount Edgecombe on 5 November 1998, ADS was directed by SAN and Armscor to generate and issue a technical description of the architecture "CS7 mod 1", explaining the proposed changes in the combat suite design, but this was never done.

Argentina had no PGMs on their jets after using up their 5 Exocets.

Maverick missile is a guided air to surface missile with ~ 20 km range, Alpha jets use it, yes it will sink a Valour frigate from 9 km altitude
.
Nigeria has no PGMS - so its low level assault for you too

Do you have the Maverick?

That doesnt make any sense, since Cuba were only involved because SA entered in Angola, Chester Crooker with the linkage made it sound like that, the truth is without SA invasion angolan government would never invite cubans to fight.
At end of the day Angola/Cuba/Namibia were on the right side of the history, apartheid died, namibians got independence, cubans left Angola with honor and MPLA never lost the power
The apartheid governments agenda was allways to prevent PLAN from operating out of Southern Angola

Cubans got involved because the SADF started launching large scale raids against PLAN camps in Southern Angola and due to the MPLA's inability to resist said raids.

Support for UNITA was solely to allow them to form a buffer zone between Namibia and PLAN

Arms deal critic shoots himself in the foot over wild allegations

And this is where Crawford-Browne’s evidence falters. Unfortunately, mixed in with important evidence are allegations that, even if true, are simply untestable. They rely on supposed confessions made to Crawford-Browne, allegedly by ANC members, some 15 years ago, and other anecdotal evidence revealed only to Crawford-Browne, verbally, by his sources.

http://mg.co.za/article/2014-10-14-arms-deal-critic-shoots-himself-in-foot-with-wild-allegations

Under cross-examination, Crawford-Browne said the fighter jets acquired by South Africa were not competitive. The vocal critic was cross-examined by Jennifer Caine, for the defence department. “The Gripens won the best military value competition according to evidence available to this commission. From your personal knowledge, do you have any basis to submit that that is not correct?” said Caine.

Caine remarked that Crawford-Browne was the most evasive witness she had ever cross-examined. “You have said the Gripens were an embarrassment to Sweden and had not been sold to any other country. You are quite mistaken about the Gripen,” said Caine.

The long term goal of the Bush War was never to effect regeime change in Angola

It was to prevent PLAN infiltration into Namibia by helping UNITA controll Southern Angola, war aims extended to ensuring a Cuban withdrawal in the later years of the war

Big lie.

France does not use Umkhonto. France uses 180 km range Exocet. France does not use 1977 non-stealth guns on a stealth ship.

You think everybody is M0R0N like South Africans? Non-stealth gun on a stealth ship, LOL this is hilarious maaadness grin grin
.
France uses the same combat suite of as the Valour class on those vessels

The radar cross section of the gun is negligible

Why did Indonesia drop Umkhonto? You ran away from that point? They chose an European missile. Bangladesh could have configured it on a Chinese ship if it was worth it, but no. Umhkonto range/ceiling is bad for the price.

Thanks for proving me right with your sources that Tiger frigate is better than Valour frigate:

Anti-ship missile-

Tiger, 130 km range
Valour 70 km range

Anti-aircraft missile-

Tiger 40 km range
Valour 15 km range

Gun-

Tiger 20 + km range
Valour 16 km range

Algeria is buying Umkhonto 15 km range, but they have Russian missile with 40 km range as their main naval air defence weapon.

No argument needed. Case Closed

Why go on with no proof? Citations for Tiger Vs Valour.

Sweden saw that the Umkhonto was not worth the price, they won't budget so much millions for a missile with 8km max ceiling.

Indonesia and Bangladesh dumped Umkhonot and bought Chinese/European missiles.

Tiger class frigates are superior to Valour frigates

Algeria chose Umkhonto for their flagship

How many world navies bought Denel Umkhonto missile apart from SAN? 2 customers.

3 other navies evaluated it and dumped Umkhonto...8km max ceiling shiiit....ordinary Alpha jets will r.ape Valour frigate to death

[s]Only a fool thinks a Valour frigate with very short range SAM with 8km ceiling, scrap yard repainted 1977 metal gun that reduced ship stealth, old year 1990s generation Exocets, radars, sensors, and equipment is something to boast about. The only new thing on a Valour frigate is the body/hull and the ship's name tongue tongue

Don't drag this forum back to old posts and comments.

NNS Aradu was re-fit in year 2001 with modern radars, sonar, sensors, all weapon systems cleaned out, guns fired, missile systems all in good order. The radar/sensor/sonar are all new and comparable to those on the Valour frigate has year 1999 weapons/equipment and a 1977 gun brought in from scrap yard and repainted.

That was posted here with sources last year, both harpoon databases and the Spanish website when you said it was a false claim and you edited Wikipedia that time on Roland missile shooting down bombs.

Show us proof that the Aradu missiles have expired and yet not removed to avoid hazard. Show us source of their expiry date. You private opinion is NOT a source.

All NNS Aradu weapons are superior to Valour frigate.

= 127mm gun has 15 km range, Valour gun is only 8 km

= Otomat MK 1 anti-ship does 2 missiles fired together and cooperate to increase range to 80 km, Otomat MK 2 range is 120 km, Valour Exocet is only 70 km

= Aspide BVR anti-aircraft missile is 75 km range, Valour is 12 km

= NNS Aradu torpedoes are Whitehead A244S torpedoes

No wonder fear and panic grips every South African when they hear of NNS Aradu refit and return to sea !

One Aradu will sink the entire South African navy in one day !

Nobody will waste time going back to repeat old posts and sources that have been proved here in 2014 . PROVED : http://archive.is/qUExe
