all4naija:your reasoning is obtuse. go back to the front page and read the post again. fist question you should ask yourself is what is the idea behind the phenomena? it's far more convenient to cut-up your meal in pieces with your knife in your right hand if you are right handed because your dexterity in cutting is more enhanced with RH. if you are left handed, you can equally apply a better force on using your left hand on your knife. the other hand does a little job [since it's got less dexterity] of picking up the food with the fork. it's as simple as that ! |
online varsity in 9ja. haaaaa ![]() a country that repudiates polytechnics & also discriminates between fed universities. ![]() |
@op more or less like wearing a wrist watch on your right hand. absolutely right - if you are a southpaw. for the ambidextrous one's, the rule doesn't apply. any side [RH/LH] goes. |
Blah Blah Blah! You only attack my post, but you fail to show the OP forward. . . Typical! Somehow, you answered and still missed the earlier question i asked you! Can pato405 and his wife survive on an 8 dollar daily allowance? How about an answer?Op, this Nigeria! Another idea is to see if you can save 20k monthly.(Since you believe 40k will be enough for 2, 20k should be enough for you )If you save 20k for 7 months, you'll have 140k. With 140k, you can establish a very good business. And if your fiancee is still unemployed till then, she could manage it. Run the business for about 3 months, monitor it's progress and decide if you will start planning your wedding or not. If not, wait a little more then. I hope you catch my drift. DONT YOU EVER GET MARRIED ON A 40K SALARY! I cant shout!
@ Q1:I neva marry ., and what even makes you feel I have that much? lolzzzzz.@ the bold, 140k is even too much to start a business . Sometimes, starting a business is not all about having the capital to start. you dont need huge capital, you are not building a refinery. It's more often tied to your ideas and the confidence within you. one man starts a business with huge capital, bungles it with a shoddy approach and makes nothing from it after several years. another man starts with practically nothing, bings strategic ideas on board and makes huge fortune out of it ! HOW? simple: act as a middle man between a service provider and the end user. you dont need a dime as capital. just link whosoever is desperate for any good/service with the provider, grab a bargain and make your own share from it as the middle man. your capital is zzero [0], yet, you make some profit. the more clients you get, the more you are earning! before you know it, you'll grab an enviable stand with the producers. ![]() |
You are not in Nigeria, so you don't know what living conditions are here! It's like asking pato405 to get married, and live with his wife on an 8dollar daily allowance. . . BULLSHIT!
Guy, I'm not in Nigeria but I left not longer than 4yrs ago, so I'm very much up-to-date with what is obtainable in Nigeria. I visit not less than twice yearly. NOTHING is constant in life. the only constant thing is CHANGE. Things may change for the young man. If it doesn't, he can develop an economic strategy - get a part time job. I worked in the civil service before I left [Ministry of health], and I know, any job you have with the civil service, whatever the unit [health, education, roads, housing, et.c], is a stable one. As a matter of FACT, OP is even in a better position than most bankers in 9ja to get married. I'm sorry to say, but if you ask most bankers, they'll bluntly tell you not to envy their fat salaries because, their job is one of the most unstable jobs. you may be employed today and be fired tomorrow with frivolous reasons regarding a hopeless account not being balanced or a financial allegation. having a steady job is the key. And i know in civil service, people lobby for their relatives to get into the system, OP can also try to curry favour to his side by hobnobbing with directors whenever there's any vacancy, they can bring her on board. I see no reason why he can't work things through with his salary tho paltry, he can get around it. |
His income is the center at which every other essential, gravitates towards! 1,350 daily for 3? Well, he should expect favour from the lord. . .

Smh! So your advice is to get married as a broke arse, live under the bridge, and wait for favour from the lord because you found a good wife? Jesus Christ!

True! people are always trying to sound optimistic without being realistic! What if things turn out worse after getting married really? I dont think it's about the legal sex, most get it else where, i think the sole pressure is on having kids at an early age! Why would anyone give birth to a kid that he cannot take care of? Ain't that stupidity? The funny thing is that people with more kids are those that earn less! I don't understand the logic behind such bullshit at times!Let him make sure his wife-to-be earns at least 30k before they get married! They are better off on a 70k combined salary than on a 40k salary! Jeez!
Killz, your thinking is just skewed! WTF @the bold above : ok! if you can think that way, it shows how biased you are. why not also rationalise it the other way round; WHAT IF he get's married and things turn out better? OR: what if he follows your jaundiced advice, wait till he gets a job with a blue chip company, earns 1mil/month, get's married and gets fired after 4 or 6months? what happens? DIVORCE because his income is now =N=0.00 [zero!] ![]() |
tanimola22:don't mind him. |
Yield:you can say that again ! |
mimi234:YES!! NO woman must marry a man who earns 40k. it's a crime. a taboo. it's all about the money afterall. All guys getting ready for marriage must earn 400k or 1milion as the case may be. typical 9js babe. they only think about the moment. greed & avarice guides their life choices. YES!! they can continue dating to buy a little more time and enable the lady search further for a money-bag. failure to earn sky-rocketing jumbo salary like senator, she'll bolt for the guy waded to the teeth. MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY. that's the only language of luv girls from my dear father-land understands. No lady here has bothered asking how much OP's finacee earns to support. ![]() |
Marriage is NOT by force. . . It's either he suspends the plans, or wait for his fiancée to get a job. No matter the situation, i will never advise my enemy to get married on a 40k salary. It's preposterous!
Can't you read? or do you need spectacle lens prescription? he said he's 33 for crying out loud ! how much longer do you want OP to wait? not even when the current situation in the country doesn't leave any glimmer of hope for anyone. If only he is sure that in the next 'x' years he'll earn 1mil or more, then you can advise him to wait for 'x' years and probably bide his time with whosoever he deems fit [his babe or if he decides to change his mind/ should his fiancée lose her patience, another lady] NOTHING is certain ANYMORE in that gademn country. OP: go ahead. tailor you expenses according to your earning. let her know how much you earn. it'l be difficult most definitely but try as much as possible to maximize your earning by earning some little pin money [abeg o! no bi egunje o! or bribery]. just a little business of your own that can probably guarantee you another 30k/month, that aggregates 70k, then try to fetch your gf [wife] a job with her certificate. i'm sure with her first degree, she can also earn not less than 40k [or even more if fortune smiles at her] . both of you can move on. mind you, explore other alternatives of getting a better job. don't just sit tight to civil service, the job security might be tempting to get you trapped. if you wish to remain there, then develop your self by seeking career advancement. Part time MSc won't be a bad idea. don't wait till you have everything or be as rich as Dangote if the girl is an understanding lady. it's quite unfortunate that majority of 9ja babes want EVRYTHING ready-made. they want to come in swim in wealth, not minding how the man started. if you are lucky enough to have a lady who is ready to start from scratch with you, please push it through with her. best of luck! |

PresidentT:yeah PresidentT I know it's the new combination therapy. i was just looking at it from a novel perspective. I had read the post with the hopes of finding something entirely new, .nice effort all the same. it's a step forward in the right direction. we need more research in all fields if our institutions of higher learning must gain international recognition. ground breaking studies is all we need! |
No car firm would allow any modification to their product, you could pick up a banged up honda and modify it at a UNI level and thats where it ends, if it goes further it would end up in court! they would have to build a car from scratch,
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!!!! I don't know how to explain this to people anymore. ORIGINALITY is everything in innovation. we are just too fond of ''copy and paste'', plagiarism., swarping paragraphs from someone else's write up and claiming credits for it. on a lighter note, CU should please hide this from HONDA, else, they'll be heading for the court soon. |
thanks guys! ![]() |
i hope they also have 4 ore batteries at the back of the crap, abi na car? i'm not surprised at all, can anything innovative come out of covenant univ? I'm NOT anywhere near engineering but I can conceptualise somethig better . yes! i mean much better than stripping a ready made car and inundating the engine compartment with lead acid accumulators. what is there to gloat about this contraption? Originality = 0 [zero] Mech Engine dept in that school should be shut down. SIMPLE!!! |
@Didi Love: Thanks! ![]() |

Gbagada is worth every penny you spend. I lived in phase1 before i travelled out and I can confidently tell you I'll still chose to live there again and again anytime I'm back to the country. In addition to being a serene and clean environment, it has NO issues with flooding, easy accessibility to wheresover you are heading because it's centrally located, quiet and peaceful. there was NEVER an issue with security . For anyone who can afford it, i'll encourage such a person to pay. Phase 2 is also as good as phase 1 & has lots of places for fun. Gbagada remains next to none! IMO. |
the babe try abeg! |
WhyAWhy:I am happy you used the word ''some'' because more often than not, we can hardly control ''what happens''. however, while some are well equipped and fortified for the future, others are not. imagine bringing a child from the slums of Ajegunle grammar school to compete against one from academic cosiness of Jesuit Loyala college. , sounds more like putting the cat among the pigeons, but we see these almost everyday when platforms like these [WAEC, Universities, law school, e.t.c] are presented for students to flex academic muscles. it's can be likened to sending some people to the battle field well equipped with armours, shields, swords, heavy artileries, e.t.c while leaving another sect to fight with bare hands. there is [and will always be particularly in Nigeria] a yawning chasm in standards across colleges and academic institutions especially at the formative and crucial stages of academic life [primary and secondary schools]I agree with you to a large extent on your theory of time and chance afterall, even the bible states it [Ecclesiastes 9:11]. in essence, it goes beyond having all the resources one can possibly crave for and putting them into judicious use with great sense of devotion and dedication. I'm not surprised at all. I constantly get this sort of conviction that it goes beyond attending flamboyant schools. it lies in the individual. while some are willing and ready to make something out of NOTHING, others are busy making nothing out of EVERYTHING. I saw this happen in Medical school time and time again - that i constantly raise these questions as i saw students from highly extolled schools ''womble'' & ''fomble'' while those from ramshackle schools trounced them HEAVILY! I'm also currently in the UK & I see this feat being repeated severally from Nigerian students. |
WhyAWhy:sounds like ''Time'' and ''Chance''. . but one question for you; will you allow your child be tutored in a public school while hoping for ''so many things to happen'' and ''shape them up''the stereotypical thinking is that private schools; particularly the ones with high tuition make better students. ![]() |
can you imagine!!! Anglican Girls grammar School ! A Public School. where are the ones from fantastic and expensive secondary schools. i've come across so many first class products but it beats my imagination that they are all products of shanty public schools. |
just wondering what the parameters for your ''ratings'' are? ![]() the woman you rate 100 could as well be rated 10,000 by another man whose rating quadruples yours! ![]() |
@pcicero: if you finished '96 CMS, i expect you to be able to recall a similar case. i know it's quite a long time now. the guy in question wasn't in sciences, he was in commercial class. if you hack back and rack your brains well, you should be able to recall a similar incidence. hope you know how it ended. . |
