Its not a street, All streets in NY have been taken and can only be renamed via legislative order. Its a corner ( ie junction) you cant use it as an address. That doesnt say its not an accomplishment because it is but lets not embellish facts.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu's Solution To Nigeria's Economic Problems by PBundles(m): 5:34pm On May 18, 2015
On a serious note, printing money for a country like Nigeria would be a terrible idea, because it has no merit and will only lead to further devaluing of the Naira and cause exponential corruption. we can barely manage our government, how much more when we throw open the printing press. Can you imagine the airplane loads of fake Naira that would be coming in from all corners.

It surprises me ( though when I think about it not really, they all need to chop abi) when so-called leaders have no idea what they are talking about and have a lack of ideas. Let me IMHO give the top three things that need to be done:

Stimulate the small and middle businesses by granting well manged loans to ensure the business ideas are fostered. This will lead to an strong internal market, which Nigeria lacks whereas we have a large population. This in turn will spin off jobs etc.

Fiscal and corruption management. Nigerian dont pay tax period, but we complain about the government not doing anything. On one hand I understand since if you see the stealing that goes on and salaries are not paid whereas most high ranking officers are looking plumpy, then its hard to reconcile the two.

Last but not least. Cut down the Government expense by at leats 70-80%. You may think its high, but this is possible. when you see that some offices and departments have been created simply to employ friends and acquaintances, while they serve no useful meaning to the masses, why keep them open. Also reduce the salaries and allowances of the elected officers by 60-70%. The amounts are ridicoulous. Why would a House or Rep or Senator make more than Obama ( Nigeria, we hail thee).

Ttalk:

In 1971 during economic recession in the United State of America, Lincoln the president jettisoned the dollar backed by gold policy, institutes social programmes that is aimed at the poor and create a tax leverage for domestic companies while bridging the gap between the rich and the poor through introduction on taxes on the rich.

Since then the dollar has taken the place of gold while emerging economies became slaves to the dollar. What is then is the fear nairanisation of our economy? It is simply the fear of unknown.

Suffice then to say that this approach is welcome only if the government will depart from the present way of spending in order to reduce inflation that will arise as a result of increase naira, but if the money is targeted toward the poor and middle class, this will increase economic activities and rejuvenate our economy from depression.
To me inflation can be better managed than depression

The problem with this exersize is that its a futile manner that can be seen as humble bragging (giving yourself credit) and even narcissistic. Fine you dont fly 1st class, but that looks like a business class seat ( it may not be) but the point is thats your business and its based on your ethical thermometer which should be used to measure you and only you. One could argue why doesnt your son study in Nigeria, why far off LA. what kind of car do you drive, how many meals do you eat etc etc etc. My very good friend decided to buy a brand new Flying Spur, why, he has studied for donkey years has worked his fingers to the bone and has put all his siblings thru school and built a house for his parents, He said this one is for me, so does that make him greedy. This guy should chillax.

Focus on being a good senator and start with yourself no need you telling us you are doing a good job when its done, we will know.

Is it logical to sell a company with annual turnover of $20 million for $15 million

Thanks!

blym4real:
It not logical but from my little business perspective, the guy won't sell the company outrightly, he will still have some shares in the company although it might not be the controlling share, but it should be a high stake.
Um that's not possible to ascertain mainly on annual turnover. Turnover (sales) doesn't say much about the profit margins, which define how efficient a business is being run. I have seen business sold with less and I have seen more. There are other factors.

irunoobo:
This election is not about GEJ been scammed in southwest or not. The people of the SW and north spoke the truth with their votes. It is unfortunate the Igbos made a wrong political gamble by supporting GEJ even though he failed woefully and did nothing tangible for their region. They failed to forget the past and embrace national unity hence their political decisions has always damaged their chances of having a major political influence or relevance in the Nigerian system.

There were so many indications that Jonathan was going to lose - He prepared late; he was careful with the timing of his declaration, when body language showed he was interested. He had no message for the people. All I heard were trains and fertilizers, YouWin, benin-Ore road and SureP(Really?) for 6 years. His campaign strategies reeled of derogatory statements and unnecessary personality attacks instead of concrete manifestos. APC employed consultants, PDP employed losers (FFKs, Okupe, Abati, Reuben, TANs etc). Jonathan heated the polity with ethnic-religious campaign strategies, jumping from one church to another; what do you think the Muslims would do? His wife continued to make derogatory statements against the North calling them names for making babies they can't cater for and insulting them with the constant mention of Almajiri schools. He was deceived by his aides , greedy people around him and he became a sectional leader. He was a bad product and I made mention of this regularly, a bad product never sells.

So I would say he scammed himself, he deceived himself by running to the south west bribing kings for endorsements as if the masses don't know what they really want.

He has successfully created a divide along tribal, religious and ethnic line all around the country and it will take a massive national reorientation to restore our national unity.

I will not pat him at the back for conceding defeat cos he already knew what awaits him if he acted on the contrary. He was part of the crew that ousted Gbagbo and he is fully aware of the watchful eyes of the ICC and instead of spending the rest of his life in jail like Gbagbo, he chose to return to Otueke to enjoy his loot in peace.

Gej should have won this elections easily if he had the interest of the masses at heart. He will forever live with the stigma of the first incumbent president to be ousted in Nigeria.

Everyone has a right to their one opinion, but Im a bit appalled as to how you have seen the latest developments and hope that this is NOT the shared thought.

This election had absolutely NOTHING to do with North, SW or EAST, nor did it have anything to do with religion. This was an election in which the masses voted for the first in a long time based on results. The reason why GEJ lost is because he nor the PDP didnt deliver, SIMPLE.

Its saddening that this is turned into IGBO this, Muslim that. Help me, was it not someone from the SE/SS (Ameachi) that campaigned for GMB. Didnt the SW help GEJ last time and apart from the Governorship elections, hasn’t Lagos been a PDP state in terms of presidential elections?

GEJ and the PDP lost because the people got tired of their promise and fail. Since 1999 in power and actually nothing to show for it. The people had had enough.
Why do you think Obasanjo jumped shipped as well as the other members. They saw that a revolt was coming. The PDP was proud and they say pride comes before the fall.

The APC on the other has a record to show for it. Look at the progress where they have governors. Look at how Fashola has put Lagos on the map not just in Africa but world-wide.

And contrary to what you think, GEJ did a GREAT thing in conceding. He could have caused much blood shed and stress, but choose not to and for that we should ALL be grateful. Do you know how many sitting presidents in Africa concede or how many sitting administrations lose elections? Have a look, then come back and let me know if you still have no respect for him. He has actually opened the door for Democracy and now that the people have tasted it there’s no going back.

As of today, if you have nothing to show your constituency, you will be history, no amount of rigging or money will save you, so for that he will go down in history. He has won more than he would have ever had or imagined by losing and conceding. As I type this, this is the talk at the departure lounge thousands of miles away from the shores of Nigeria. Makes me feel proud as they are talking about it and don’t realise im Nigerian.

So no this has nothing to do with any of the things you mentioned. It had a far greater and deeper meaning.

Im not advocating stealing and robbery in any way, but many took this road because we have evil leaders whose only thought is to steal without thinking about the well being of the citizenry. And Im talking about both f...ing parties PDP and APC.

You and I know that the real criminals (Babaginda, Danjuma, Obasanjo, GEJ, Tinubu, Buhari etc etc) are walking free for crimes that should keep them locked for life or in front of a firing squad, but instead we will jail a robber that stole , what about the BILLIONS THESE THIEVES STOLE.
HealthRe: Can Madness Be Heriditary? by PBundles(m): 3:02pm On Mar 19, 2015
In one word YES. My wife worked in the past with ppl who had mental illness as well as a good friend of mine. If it runs in ones family you can be susceptible to it. Also as someone mentioned, stress and drugs and alcohol abuse can also cause different forms. Strangely enough, a large portion in Nigeria suffer from it without knowing due to the enormous stress of living in that country.

Certain signs which go unnoticed which Im sure you have seen in your environment:

1 Unnecessary shaking or movement of legs/feet while either sitting or still (VERY COMMON). This is one way of the body trying to get stress relief.

2 Rage outbreaks from simple issues resulting in fighting or violent actions. Notice the amount of news we hear of someone being killed or attacked usually by someone close to them for the slightest misunderstanding.

3 Talking to one self constantly or talking loud without even noticing that you are doing it.

4 Forgetting to eat (strange but true)

5 Disregard for cleanliness for oneself or environment.

The sad part is the stigma that is carried with it which causes those around the victim not to seek help for them for the fear of being labelled family of a crazy person or even demonic etc. The irony is that it can be kept under control by counselling and medication.

I have thought about this issue many a times and how painful that our citizens suffer at the hands of these things. My ppl suffer to much my heart bleeds for them honestly. cry

Judging by some of these remarks, it gest me thinking that the North are in a lot of ways like the Afro Americans in the states.. They blame their in ability to progress on everything under the sun, then an African from the so-called bush comes their with only the clothes on his back an decides to give it his all, struggling but focused, Then when he succeeds he gets the wrath of the Afro- American that either sees him as a traitor (why, because they choose not to be lazy and come up with 101 excuses), sellout, good for nothing etc etc. Hmmm sound familiar folks.

This is the epitome of everything wrong in that country. For the record I have nothing against her, but has anyone sought out how she obtained her wealth? In short she was AWARDED a drilling license by a head of state of which she was close friends with his wife. No need for me to tell you, you look it up and find out. A couple of questions, did she study anything that has to do with oil/petroleum, does she have an engineering degree, is she from that area where she was awarded that license? Whilst in that same country our graduates have no jobs, look at the state of our schools, look at what the common man has where 3 square meals is not reality. To the one who said people dont remember how you made the money, so will you teach your kids to be Armed Robbers and you daughter to be a prost.tute, ofcourse not why, ITS WRONG.

So lets stop praising bad things in that country and then crying the next second about how bad the country is. I agree we dont have the power to bring her to justice, KARMA has a funny way of playing out, but we do have the power to choose who we exalt or not.

LEST WE FORGET... THE GENOCIDE OF ASABA
October 7 will continue to be a date in Nigeria’s history; for the good cause, it was the day the first indigenous university in Africa, University of Nigeria Nsukka, opened its gates “to restore the dignity of man” in 1960.
Exactly on October 7, 1967, the federal troops under the command of Lt Col Murtala Ramat Mohammed committed the greatest genocide in Africa’s history. In a broadcast at Benin to signal what was to happen at Asaba on September 21, 1967, Lt Col Mohammed thundered, “I have already dispatched my forces to deal with the rebels around Agbor and Asaba”. Little wonder why Igbo women were raped, children maimed, pregnant women raped and their pregnancies disemboweled from Benin, Agbor, Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku with the grand finale been the butchering of over 2000 defenseless men and male children who had rolled out their drums to rejoice with the federal troops for recapturing Asaba from Biafran forces at St Patrick’s College area of Asaba by Lt Col Mohammed’s troop for alleged “Biafra sympathy”. All these happened in total disregard to the Geneva Convention and federal directive issued by the then Nigeria’s HOS, Major-General Yakubu Gowon.
In the words of 58 years old eye witness, Ifeanyi Uraih, who was a resident of Asaba then with his nine siblings and parents, “I cannot tell this story without tears in my eyes, but I have no bitterness in my heart… They ordered everyone to come out to the town square… They were honest with us. They told us they were going to kill us. They took us to the mounted machine guns. Then it dawned on us that it was true. I was standing with my older brother at the edge of the crowd. He was holding my hand. He had always taken care of me. We shared the same bed. He was the first to be dragged away by the soldiers. He let go of my hand and pushed me into the crowd. He was shot in the back. I could see the blood gushing from his back. He was the first victim of the massacre. Then all hell let loose. I lost count of time. To this day, I live with the smell of the blood of my brethren that night. Even the heavens wept for the victims of this holocaust. Finally the bullets stopped.” Luckily Uraih made it alive because the bodies of the people who were killed fell and buffered him.
It is indeed 45 years today but the wound is still fresh. According to Chinelo Egwuatu, another survivor of the Murtala’s genocide, “We can forgive but we should never, ever forget… There is no way you can bring the people back, but you can at least acknowledge that it happened.” Special thanks to the University of Florida Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies and its team of researchers ably led by Erin H. Kimmerle, Professors Elizabeth Si Bird and Fraser Ottanelli who have elected to “break the silence, honour the dead, develop a historic record of the event and secure funding to build the permanent memorial” for the victims of the genocide.
For us, we must take up the mantle and bring to the fore-burner of international discourse, the atrocities of the 1967-70 genocide of the Nigerian state against ndigbo; today, Awolowo’s starvation policy is the centre stage of our national debate courtesy of Prof Chinua Achebe; how about the Oguta blood bazaar superintended by Olusegun Obasanjo? Have we forgotten about the Onitsha 300 burnt in the Apostolic by Murtala and the activities of Benjamin Adekunle, Shehu Yar’Adua, Ibrahim Taiwo, Jalo, Sani Abacha, etc during the genocide the government of Nigeria continues to call “civil war?”
On the part of the Federal Government, it is time we put this ugly part of our history permanently behind us by giving the dead a deserving state burial and proper apologies rendered to the surviving families of these great Nigerians, whose blood were wasted by bloodlust and hate-mongering soldiers. Anything less is begging the question and it behooves us all as Nigerians to seek justice for the dead. BY Okafor C. Udoka
And people wonder why people of the south have this bitterness towards the North. One question: It has been documented these travesties done to the South....but can someone tell me when the South has been guilty of such genocide? when or where have you heard the opposite being done. And dont give me the 1966 BS, those were soldiers.

For the record, as I have mentioned before, my linage is vast, paternal Benin/Yoruba/Ika(bendel ibo), maternal North and Ibo. I consider myself lucky felling 100% Nigerian!

And thus, what we shall ALL reap what we sow. This story is so VERY true. My grandfather was shot in Agbor (though he didnt die) while in his car during these massacres. Most of the people he killed didnt even side or know the biafran soldier. My Granddad was actually partly Ika (Bendel ibo) and partly benin/yoruba.

I have no PITY he was riddled with bullets, he got what he dished out to innocent people ( kids and old folks). If this were soldiers it still wouldnt be fair but I could see the anger. But because he was NOT a good leader/soldier ( its been proven he had difficulties with the Biafran soldiers) he decide to take this out on innocent souls. For those who say he would have been a great leader, WHY, because he pretended to be of the people. He was also very wicked, known for having a mean streak an HIGHLY tribalistic.

I bet he is burning in hell now. wink

Let me first start by giving my disclaimer before someone states Im siding a particular candidate, but how can Buhari use fighting corruption as ticket to winning when you have people like Atiku and Tinubu in your midst and refused to say anything derogatory about Abacha becuase you served under him. Do you know the impact he would have had if he said NO, Im sorry I cant have you with me to Tinubu and his likes and when asked about Abacha, simply state the obvious: Look he was my boss but in hindsight I see that he was not very forthright and for that Im deeply sorry for serving during such human rights abuses.

There would be no need for an election he would win hands DOWN by a landslide. But now you he gives the impression that he is sensitive to such characters which is a pity. Remember the saying: Tell me your friends and I will tell you who you are...so true.

DID WE HAVE CLASS 6 BACK THEN FOR WAEChuh THOUGHT IT WAS 5 GUYS COME ON. Even his CV says he attended Attended Katsina Model School in 1953 and Katsina Provincial Secondary School (now Government College Katsina) from 1956-1961., ? ?so how could he have been in Class 6huh??

If I dream of having sex but never really had it, am I still a virgin? cheesy grin cheesy grin

This certificate thing is getting interesting. If one cannot be honest about obtaining a certificate or not how can he be honest about anything else since it could mean that he may have entered the Army under false pretense and anywhere in the world would mean that your degrees obtained using false pretense are void. To be honest, its a small issue but for someone who CLAIMS to be honest, this doesnt look good. He also stated that he UPLOADED it when applying as a candidate, well I think we can all agree that cant be true since he later claimed he didnt have a copy, which is possible but what was uploaded.

On the other hand when one hears the First lady speak, you wonder the true value placed on certificates. As far as I know Bill Gates or Zuckerberg never graduated. Just saying.
