To be honest its goes both ways. Those in Nigeria do seem to sometimes show some aggression towards everything that those in diaspora do or say, though I must say I USUALLY ( so not always) see it with those that are having a hard time make ends meet in Nigeria. Those that are making it in Nigeria dont seem to care. But on the other hand some diaspora bring it upon themselves. Telling bogus lies about how they are living abroad and then when they go home want to oppress fellow Nigerians living Nigeria trying to put them down. Stop talking in slangs or accents that everyone can see you are faking, tell the truth about your situation that you need 2-3 jobs to make ends meet, that the car you Instagramed is not paid off but leased etc. I have had the opportunity to have lived in Nigeria (though only 6 years) and the rest overseas ( US and Europe). The main difference in my humble opinion between Nigeria and diaspora is that hard work does seem to pay off most of the time in diaspora whilst in Nigeria hardwork is not the key to success. |
On the other hand come to think of it, its not easy for them. I mean having the airco blow you all day and then setting foot in the hot weather can give some malaria feelings. Also after stuffing your belly with all that food and then topping it with some pepper soup and drinks will cause one to feel drowsy and sleepy during all the senate and house meetings not to mention the bumpy drive home with such a full stomach on our bad roads. No I think they may deserve more.
Hardship Allowance: 50% of Basic Salary = N1,242,122.75 I dnt understand dis. is it the hardship of driving their big jeeps on their bad roads for sittings. ![]() dis polithiefcians have totally lost it
|
My sista you are spot on. Hardship for what, if they get that what should the common man get with all the hardhsip they place on them. Oh I have. Was in Houston and Maryland a while back and was STUNNED. To be honest and not because my dad is from that side, I saw all parts (tribes) in it, though I must admit my dads side was, lets say properly represented ![]() seedord247: I dont think you've been to Houston, Dallas, Marryland, Austin and see how E/Nigerians are leaders in these games. |
To be honest, this is no news. Anyone who has lived long in the US will tell you that these type of scams happen all the time. This time it happens to be a Nigerian, ok we have the bad name, but 99% of these scams are carried out by blond hair blued eyed chaps. Years ago a close friend of my brother living around Arizona was looking affluent all of a sudden. Turns out he ran a boys home for troubled teens. Long story short years later turns out that he was milking the insurance and the parents. Charges were never proven, the chap retired some where in the Sierra Nevada with a 7 figure bank balance. He wasn’t even 35. True Talk. |
Let me get this str8, he states or suggests that Im an idle student, which is far from the fact. Actually I lecture on invitation and have been doing so for more than 10 years. If arrogance is stating the truth, then call me arrogant, because my firms employs people. Its not bragging if its the truth, sorry. A suggestion - read carefully and respond with less emotion. I mentioned him, where did you see generation, or was this yet another one of your ASSumptions. gramci: arrogance will take you no where, even if you can employ his generation, the truth still remains you don't. So keep whatever you think you are to yourself. |
Its obvious you havent read properly or you have NO CLUE what LinkedIn is. For your info he does own that profile, because its verified by Linkedin. If you dont know how things work, dont assume you do. gramci: Op you must be very dumb to believe that President GEJ owns that account. |
So the President doesnt need to check what was written for him? Is that your point? If so it only make me more worried and makes it more lame. Next you will insist he shouldnt pre-read what his speech writers write for him. You must agree this is highly unprofessional, I mean he is THE PRESIDENT
Who even told you the president wrote that himself?
|
![]() FrostyZonn: Wow! Double wammy! Gays, don't come near this gal if you value your life oo! |
Hey Frosty you keep this up and you will blow your cover You are showing expertise in this subject matter that may make people think you are, well you know ![]() FrostyZonn: Sez who? Dolphins engage in gay sex for pleasure all the time. It's a common thing with the Chimps. Elephants also do practice the occasional gay sex. So it's not limited to humans alone. |
God....... im mean Frost the snowman has spoken ![]() manny4life: Human nature? Who defined human nature? For or against? Say Frosty Zonn right? |
Um dude you can read right, Im married and have been for over 20 years to the greatest gal on the planet. FrostyZonn: By your comments, then you fall under Gay lover, not neutral. |
Actually not. I have had the opportunity to have lived all over the world and my wife has gay friends. Its not my thing, but to be honest the times I have met or dealt with them, I have had no issues. Dude I have had more issues with sr8 people then homosexuals. So Im not gay, to be honest dont undertand it, but I wont judge them. God has filled that vacancy. FrostyZonn: You sure sound like a neutral, which makes you a secret gay hater. |
If you could channel this hate to the F'in Politicians that are ripping us off, I think Id side you. So when you going hunting?? basisop: I'll attend just to kill them for being a disgrace to the family. |
You also have Neutral and DONT despise them. Enough hate in the world, no need to add any more. FrostyZonn: I see 4 classes of people in this thread so far; |
Interesting topic and to honest I dont know what I would do, but if it were a friend I have known, I think I would. Its fine we all have our opinions and I will respect that, but help me , all these people shouting hell fire and the rest, what tragedy have we committed far worse then homosexuality that we are seeing the daily punishment for. It must be really bad. I decided long ago, God, the position of God is filled with no possibility of it ever being vacant so I need not apply nor try and act like God. |
Grand Larceny at its best........... In a country where the masses continue to suffer for NO REASON. A country so blessed we cant fanthom how blessed we are.....such a shame (Reuters) - Nigeria lost out on $10.9 billion in potential oil revenues due to oil theft between 2009-2011, the chairman of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) said on Tuesday. "Over 136 million barrels estimated at $10.9 billion was lost to crude oil theft and sabotage," Ledum Mitee said in an emailed statement, after NEITI published an audit of the Nigerian oil and gas sector this week. NEITI is a government agency that operates as part of a global EITI scheme aimed at improving transparency among commodity producing countries. Oil theft in Nigeria is often associated with criminal gangs who tap crude from pipelines for local refining but the majority of stolen crude leaves the country in large tankers. Security experts say the scale of the theft - estimated at up to 250,000 barrels per day - could not be achieved without the complicity of officials. Yungwizzzy: assu pls call of strike to allow the likes of of p bundle to go back to schoolSon I could employ you, believe. When grown folks talk, have a seat a listen, that way you dont sound dumb ok. |
I wanted to share something with all NL'ers. You see first impressions mean everything. You dont get a second chance at it. As I was sifting through my LinkedIn profile, I noticed that a 3rd person contact was linked to the president. I clicked on the profile of Mr. Goodluck only to get the shock of my life! He misspelled FEDERAL THREE TIMES. At first I thought it can be a typo since he is human and anyone can make a mistake, only to see it was done two more times. I mean this looks soo downgrading. Im not affiliated to any party and actually I wont say I have been a supporter or not as I want whats best no matter what party brings it. But when our President cant spell and NO assistant can enlighten him on this its a real shame. Well I guess when your wife thinks its Um buu lela why am I surprised he thinks its FEDRAL. Wow and we wonder why some think he is daft, REALLY? Maybe if they spent less time ripping us off and actually serving, their Amateurish iniquities would be so glaring.

Nice NOT , put in my order for the Bluetec last month because the new model E was coming out, now to hear that they are putting in a new automatic next year. Like seriously MB. |
Im shocked no one mentioned THE COLOR PURPLE |
Its a loan, hence the confirmation that its low interest. The Chinese Govt knowing how corrupt the Nigerian government is have mandated that they be awarded the projects and its oversight. The Chinese government is not doing it for free. They have have bartered cheap oil vs low interest loan. Call it what you like, at the end of the day it needs to be paid back. You can say my position puts me in the know. abujalapdog: Most people dont even understand the loan it is not in physical cash but putting up infrastructure that is worth that amount they want chinese government to put in place for Nigerian govt. |
There once was a poor man who prayed that he would be blessed with fortune so he could enjoy the finer things in life. One day his prayers were heard and he was indeed blessed, more than he could imagine. He used the money to buy all wordly things for him and his family. One day though, this man died along with his whole family. When people enquired what had happeenned, the doctor said...........he died of hunger.....he was busy buying his hearts desire that he forgot to eat and feed his family. His name was Nigeria. Is this not the same country where the common man cant dream of three square meals and where our children got to school and sit on the floor in classrooms with no light and windows. We have been so blessed that in our incompentency and greed, we acheive little. Instead of building this ( we already have an airport in Abuja), shouldnt we be investing in SMC (small and medium sized) industries ensuring that the strong minds we have create things are industrious and also employ. The engine of a good economy is SMC...then yes Ms Iweala your nights will afford your the time to sleep soundly. Are we so smart or are the leaders so stupid? You may answer that yourself. |
@Capnd143]almost all first commentators are brainless ignoramus! GEJ is not going there to burrow only you fools; he is going to for; 1.Defense assistance 2. Possibly, Procure the L-15's jet in the military budget 3.discuss investment opportunities with xi jinping and other chinese business men 4.help in technology and civil engineering training etc pls always do some research b4 spewing rubbish
Im sorry but you are wrong. I work in the finacial sector and Nigeria has been on a road trip for the past months ( also working along side my bank, sorry cant reveal the name) to see if there was appetite for issuing of a bond. There was but Nigeria opted for this loan, which is part of a larger amount. They will pay a low interest, BUT thats beacuse unknown to many, China has done so so that they can get cheaper oil and minerals which they badly need. If you dont believe me, then I hope you will believe Reuters and I quote Link:http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/07/03/nigeria-china-idUSL5N0F93N620130703 Nigeria to use funds for infrastructure projects * Chinese firms benefit from contracts * Nigeria to also negotiate on oil sales to China By Joe Brock and Felix Onuah ABUJA, July 3 (Reuters) - Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan will travel to China next week to sign off on $3 billion in Chinese loans to build infrastructure in Africa's most populous country, the finance minister said on Wednesday. The agreed loans will come from the Chinese government and will be based on interest rates of less than 3 percent over a 15-20 year period, Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said. The deal underscores increasing Chinese interest in Africa and its resources - Nigeria is the continent's top oil producer - in competition with Western powers. Okonjo-Iweala estimates Nigeria needs $10 billion a year of investment to improve infrastructure like roads and electricity to keep up with a rapidly growing population, already some 170 million, and to sustain economic growth at around 6-7 percent. U.S. President Barack Obama launched a $7 billion initiative on Sunday to help Africa with electricity shortages but this is dwarfed by the $20 million in loans China has promised the continent. Obama did not visit Nigeria. "We know that China fuelled its growth by really keeping one step ahead in terms of infrastructure ... we need roads, we need power, we need help on aviation, agriculture," Okonjo-Iweala told Reuters at the presidential villa in the capital. China has made a string of cheap loans in the past few years to countries in Africa, a continent which supplies oil and raw materials like copper and uranium to the world's most populous country and second-largest economy. The loans to Nigeria include $500 million to build airport terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano; and over $700 million to build a hydroelectric power plant in Niger State. It also includes $600 million to build a light railway in the capital Abuja, most of which has already been invested on a project due to be completed early next year. Lending at below market rates to fund infrastructure projects using Chinese firms has enabled Beijing to cement relationships in Africa while subsidising its construction industry. Nigeria's central bank governor Lamido Sanusi warned African governments in March that China's pursuit of raw materials and markets for its manufactured goods on the continent carried "a whiff of colonialism" similar to that introduced by Europeans in centuries past. "I'm not of the school that says 'look this is colonialism' ... We should be open to whoever wants to invest and help us finance our needs," Okonjo-Iweala said. The loans are part of a $7.9 billion external borrowing plan approved by Nigeria's national assembly last year as government seeks to up cheaper external borrowing and limit domestic debt. Okonjo-Iweala said the delegation travelling to China on July 7 would also be discussing China's interest in oil from Nigeria, an OPEC member and Africa's top producer. "They want more oil and gas ... we have something they want now and they have something we want, so you have grounds for negotiations," Okonjo-Iweala said. With the discovery of shale oil and gas in the United States, Nigeria is losing its biggest customer and looking for new buyers. India has been increasing its imports from Nigeria. A little food for thought. Nigeria pumps approx 2 million barrels of oil a day @$100 thats $200Million a day in a month we are talking about US$3.6 billion. Im not talking about Natural Gas reserves totaling 187 Trillion ( yes you read that right). Many dont know our Natural Gas Reserves are 3 times that of our oil, or that we waste US18 million a day (US$ 540 million a month) because we flare it of. Yet we are borrowing US 3 billion, which leads me to question, WHY?.......Unless we are broke. They keep saying we arent, but when you see the above, its obvious we are. Nigeria is a blessing and a curse. We have been blessed with so much, which has led to so much corruption and stealing that it has become a curse. Interesingly I watched a program the other day in which the economists said, had Nigeria used its money wisely as of the 90s ( not even the 80's) Nigeris would have been ATLEAST at the level of South Korea in terms of advancement. My heart weeps and if I tell you im not bitter, Im f'ing lieing. |
Never should we allow Buhari to rule us again. He had his chance and should move on. Im confident that we have enough up coming leaders who will one day show Nigeria the light, why do we want these past rulers to rule again. People claim that Buhari was honest and not corrupt, not true. He was simple less corrupt. To this day the NNPC 2.8 BN that disssappeared and was traced to have been placed on saving accounts for interest has never been countered, hence he keeps claiming he never stole money, well technically he didnt, but you can see he is tricky. Also a man that divides a country along tribal and religous boundaries is not for us. We all can see that he sympathizes with BH, that should be enough to tell you this man is no good. Buharis is like that school master that proclaimed that he was vlogging you to teach you a lesson, when deep down he enjoyed every minute. |
This story sounds like it was embellished. So they first lost NGN12 MM before they decided they had problem and asked an expert?? Come on. Either this story is juiced or the Bank Manager and his Oga At the Top are daft and should also be fired. Many moons ago when I worked at a branch office in Europe in charge of administrating the ATMs, if EUR 50 was missing it was an issue, forget about NGN12MM ( EUR 50K). As of EUR 500, the matter would be be investigated by internal audit. How are we not sure this security guy is not the fall guy. If you ask me they BM and the boss may have known and ate some of the money and are letting this guy take the blame, who probably has no idea how much he stole in total. |
I quote you: compared to a society whereby you immediately feel odd no matter how many you are, once you are not of the religion the society has been founded. so very true..... I think you have spoken for many non Muslims. For the good order I dont want you come away with any ill feelings and I dont want you to feel that Im trying to dis you im not. This is a free world and I beleive we have the right to beleive or NOT beleive in whatever we like. This holds true for Muslims, Non Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Boedhist and the Atheist. The freedom I cherish should be granted to others in the like manner and form with no prejudice. We also have the right to agree to disagree and that is what I love about the western society. golpen: Why would I ask a christian to leave the country of her birth?! Yes I'm aware the vatican is not a country, but it is the only christian religious society I know of. I don't think there's any christian country in the world, that is why I have used it as my case of study. |
I guess the same way you would ask a christian born Saudi to get with the program or leave (or arent they also citizens), capiche. Probably not. Others must conform to your understanding, pray tell if you would try and conform to anothers. and that my friend is the problem that is being seen with Muslims and non muslims. I dont know how much you have travelled, but I have been around mainly due to my work and it true, travel is education. You see how the other side lives and you realize its not black and white but mainly grey. The vatican is not a country though, an Islamic state is. In terms of Ratio do you know the percentage of Muslims living in Europe that were not born there or 2nd and 3rd generation? They make up the largest. If you remove that, if im not mistaken its not even 5%. when you factor the group I mentioned in its about 15%. So in your mind it would be better if these countries simply said we are Christian states so its not allowed, then you would see it as fair? No you wouldnt, then the compliant would be why switch from secular, not that that will ever happen as Europe has seen the turmoil of Religious Dominnace ( The Spanish Inquisition). Even the US have felt the brunt of religous dominnace in the 1800 (witch hunts) and will never allow that to happen again. I have said that religion has been the biggest cause of wars and differences and as such remains the opium of the people. You want to see peopl fight and kill themselves, throw religion in the mix. I love the scene in X when he goes to Mecca and proclaims, wow I saw white people there but all along thought that by hating the white man I was hating the devil. The western society you put down is the same one that has given you so much too. golpen: What I mean is that because the french state is secular (not founded or governed on a religious basis), you'll agree with me that we have different people of different religions living together in negligible rations, unlike places like the vatican or an islamic state where you tend to have vivid ratio of some particular people religious wise to some very minute set of people practising the other religions. In that words, being free in a secular state, stretches to freedom of practising one's religion of choice. I would also condemn the act, if churches are banned or nuns are banned from walking on the streets, claiming it is protectionism. The 'freedom' as we put it has been denied some set of people, ragarding their religion. |
No I didnt look it up to be frank. I took a poli science/ethics class way back when to complete my minor credits during my undergrad in 95, but thats a different matter. Secular doesnt mean religons livig together as you put it but the fact that the state seperates religion and doesnt use it as its basis for governing, primarily to ensure that ppl are given the freedom to be free and NOT fall under any religous stipulations. No one is asking you to be exiled as to be exiled would be for one to be bannished, but simply if you have issues with certain cultures or governments, whereas you have the freedom to live where they would be respected, the choice seems clear. The French govermnent as a government has a right to impose laws that they feel protect their views and culture just like KSA does. An old student chap of mine, who converted to Islam did just that. He didnt like the situation he was living in the UK and moved to Dubai where he is more than happy. golpen: I'm sure you went to look the word 'secular' up in the dictionary, forgetting the use of words sometimes go beyond the literary dictionary meanings. |
But why would you want to live in a place where you feel you are not being respected or your rights not being protected? I have many Muslim friends, my best friend is Muslim. I always say look we are not in the Middle East, if the situation here bothers you, you dont have chains on your feet. You are free to go. But you know what Ive observed and I have even said this to my best friend as we are very open and have a close honest relationship were we can say anything to one another, you want the best of both worlds. If you didnt why even put foot on western soil. golpen: I am not condemning their homo laws because it is compatible with some religion aside with Islam, but I'll condemn it with my words because it is anti-Islamic. Anyway, encouragement or banning of homo acts is their choice as a country, benefiting some set of people or religions. The question is; Why should Muslims be prevented from wearing what is compatible with their own religion in a secular state of high democracy? |
