Either the fifth African team would be decided by a mini-playoff amongst the 4 quarterfinal losers, or CAF would just pick the best of the quarterfinal losers.

But, realistically, I don’t see FIFA allocating more than four slots to Africa. After all, African teams have only advanced to the knockout rounds of the WWC on three occasions - Nigeria in 99, Cameroon in 2015, and both Nigeria and Cameroon in 2019.
The best chance of having 5 African teams at the 2023 World Cup rests on whether South Africa will be awarded the hosting rights.

FIFA has approved the expansion of the Women’s World Cup to 32 teams!! Going by the precedent set when the men’s word cup was expanded to 32 teams, I’ll predict that Africa will be allocated two more slots.

And I found some interesting bits about how VAR would be used in the league:

- The center referee is only allowed to view a maximum of 3 replays at full speed, and another 3 slow/mo replays. This would be to minimize delays in the match.

- For penalty decisions, the center referee will have to accept the decision of the VAR, and not check the video monitor himself. This is in contrast to the procedure in other tournaments where the center referees run up to watch the footage themselves on the pitch-side monitor.

And when one of either Harris, Warren, or Sanders clinches the nomination, Trump would waste no time in using the attacks from the no-hopers on his campaign ads. He would say “If they openly attack their former president and his policies, then why should you vote for them”.

Yes, some Republican candidates attacked the legacy of George Bush 43, but those attacks were, at best tepid, or limited to the Iraq war quagmire. None of them went on a broadside on his entire legacy as president.

For me, it’s a stupid strategy by some of the candidates in attacking Obama’s legacy. The candidates think that by attacking Obama, the independents and Republicans in the Midwest/Rust belt will vote for any of them; which is complete hogwash.

What would turn the swing state voters towards the Dems are policies that would bring jobs and affordable healthcare for all.

I'm surprised that Davido's Fall is that popular on the West Coast...it's verrrrry popular in NYC.... and same....many don't know it's by a Nigerian.

So, it was a party organized by a Black meetup Group I belong to, in Southern California. It was held at a local Hilton hotel. The pool parties are held twice a year, with the next one being in September. Yay

The tickets cost between $25 for regular admission, and $40 for VIP. Reasonable prices, if you ask me. I came with 3 friends - a Nigerian lady, an African-American dude and an African-American woman. The Naija lady is an Ijaw from Delta.

The cool thing about the party is that two of Davido’s tracks - “If” and “Banana fall on you” were played by the DJ. When those tracks came on, everyone went wild lol. I told my friend that this is Nigerian song, and he was like “this is better than some AA hip hop” Most if the songs played were American obviously.

Then, when it came time to order food - the menu prices ranged from $11 to $14 - I was disappointed by the service. I and some others had to stand in line for almost 30 mins before a server came to take my order. I guess the hotel was short-staffed for that day

Anyway, I ordered the humus - a popular Arab delicacy - with a Red Bull. I didn’t want to order an alcoholic drink because I had to drive over half an hour back to my place. I didn’t want the cops to have a reason to pull me over, in case I engaged in “buzzed” driving. Lol

Overall, I would say the party was so much fun, I enjoyed myself, especially when the ladies were twerking in front of me I would try to make it to the September event as well.

More fun

The pool party was lit! It was my second of such party in under one year.

Congrats to the Algerians for a well-deserved trophy. They were truly the best organised team at the AFCON.

By the way, I think the reason why the "golden generations" of Ghana, CIV and Senegal have largely failed to shine in the World cup and AFCON in this century (barring CIV's feat in 2015) is the nature of their midfields. The midfields of these three teams comprises only box-box players and defensive midfielders. None of them had a midfield orchestrator in the mold of a Debruyne, Pirlo, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Mikel, Okocha, Oliseh, Riquelme etc.

Midfield orchestrators/deep-lying playmakers are important especially in really tight games. These kinds of players have the ability to unlock stubborn defenses with one key pass. Most times, when creativity was needed, there was nobody that took the mantle for the aforementioned teams.

FIFA reportedly wants Nigeria to host the 2020 U-20 World Cup. If Nigeria is eventually awarded the hosting rights, it would become the first African country to host a FIFA women’s tournament.
