Icon79:Well, the $200,000+ annual salary of members of Congress can, at least, pay for a decent one-bedroom apartment. But as you said, a good number of our members of Congress prefer to live in their offices. I once watched a CNN report on how 3 senators shared a 2-bedroom apartment, and mostly had cereal for breakfast and lunch. Lol There is no use for them to buy a house in D.C. when they aren’t sure they would live in the city forever. |

EarthXmetahuman:We’ve got a decent from three in Iwobi-Iheanaco-V. Moses. Our midfield is thick with Mikel-Ndidi-Etebo, with Onazi starting from the bench |

State lawmakers under the auspices of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly have transmitted passed constitution alteration bills to the National Assembly in the ongoing Constitution Review exercise. Thirty-four of the 36 states of the federation voted on the 29 bills transmitted to them, but Lagos and Rivers states abstained from the exercise. Of the 29 bills, 15 were passed, including the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ bill which seeks to reduce the ages of contestants for the office of the president, governor and National Assembly membership. The bill to give independence to state Houses of Assembly was also passed, while the states rejected autonomy for local government. These details were made known by speakers at the transmission ceremony attended by lawmakers including the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, in Abuja on Thursday. The Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, who is also the Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Abdulmumin Kamba, stated that the rejection of devolution of powers by the National Assembly was condemned by the state legislature. He said, “While we believe that every proposed amendment transmitted to the state Houses of Assembly for ratification reflects the yearning and aspirations of the people, the voting out of the bill on devolution of power by the National Assembly, which was part of the original work by this Assembly, has been strongly condemned “Therefore, on behalf of our constituents, we want to plead that the bill on devolution of powers be reconsidered and form part of the next proposed amendment to the constitution.” Saraki, in his remarks, expressed his disappointment over Lagos and Rivers’ withdrawal from the exercise. He said, “Let me also at this point commend those 34 states. I must also express my disappointment because I had hoped that this exercise would have ensured that all states participated fully. The non-participation of Lagos and Rivers is disappointing. I do hope that as we move ahead, that Lagos and Rivers will take a different approach because this is all about the interests of the country.” Saraki noted that constitution amendment was not something of “you can bully me, I can bully you,” stating that, “It is by dialogue and discussion, by putting Nigeria first that matters.” In his remarks, Dogara commended the states for approving independent legislature while expressing regret over the rejection of autonomy to the third tier of government. He said, “I will say that I am a bit disappointed because we would have delivered the long-awaited local government autonomy but, unfortunately, maybe our courage did not go that far. “…This is an exercise that is ongoing. I believe that as this one failed this time, maybe next time as state Houses of Assembly are now independent, they would be able to extend this same independence to local government. We all know the benefits of freeing the three tiers of government. So, please let us go ahead and do it.” Dogara pointed out that since it was the people who spoke through the passage of the bills, President Muhammadu Buhari should give speedy assent to them. He said, “Although we will wait for presidential assent to the bill, it is our hope that since this thing has passed through all the legislative processes at the National Assembly and at the state level, it should not be a problem really for the chief executive to assent to this because we represent the over 140 million people in Nigeria and we have spoken through these documents before us. “I don’t think it would be right at any level, having passed through all these processes, for these to be returned and without the bills being transmitted into the provisions of the constitution. The President is tied to do the wishes of the people.” The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun, stated that although Nigerians had different names for restructuring such as fiscal federalism or devolution of power, the consensus had been that the country needed development. http://punchng.com/constitution-review-states-demand-devolution-of-powers-reject-lg-autonomy/ |
The idea to merge Arik and Aero is a laudable one, provided that the FG won't be involved in the day to day running of the airline. |

Ibime:So, that means the Super Eagles have no midfield of repute, if Mikel is a guaranteed starter. Or do the likes of Ndidi and Onazi/Etebo make him look good when he dons the green white green? |
popizaino:Yes. Thanks |
Loogan:You mentioned he is a team player. That trait may be what gets him a seat on the plane to Russia, ahead of Simon Moses. The one weakness in S. Moses’s game is his inability to “play with” the team. He is way too selfish on the pitch. |
raumdeuter:Yeah. If Chelsea advance, I would fear if they are paired with Juve. Those Italians know how to get the result they want in a 2-legged tie. Maybe it has been destined that Buffon will win a UCL title before his retirement. |
AmoryBlacq:How was it fixed ![]() |
Well, we have seen this movie before. In 2007, Chelsea drew 2-2 at home with Valencia. People thought Chelsea were done and dusted, but CFC turned it around and won the 2nd leg 2-1. Same scenario applied to AC Milan. They drew 2-2 at home with Bayern. Bayern were odds on favorites to advance to the semis. But yet again, Milan turned it around, and beat Bayern 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. Sometimes, playing out a scored draw st home isn’t all that fatal. |

The adult film star who allegedly had a sexual relationship with Donald Trump is suing the president, alleging the "hush" agreement that silenced the story was invalid. Stormy Daniels filed a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, contending that the non-disclosure agreement she signed was invalid because Trump never signed it. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, and Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, signed the agreement on Oct. 28, 2016, 11 days before the election. The lawsuit, first reported by NBC News, is the first time Daniels has openly admitted to having a "hush" agreement to cover up her relationship with Trump, which she says lasted from 2006 to 2007, according to the lawsuit. Neither Cohen nor White House officials immediately responded to requests for comments about the lawsuit Tuesday evening. In the lawsuit, filed by Los Angeles attorney Michael Avenatti, Daniels argues that because the agreement is invalid, she's under no obligation to remain silent. But the lawsuit says attempts to "intimidate" her "into silence and 'shut her up' in order to 'protect Mr. Trump' continue unabated." As recently as Feb. 27 of this year, Cohen began "a bogus arbitration proceeding" against Daniels in Los Angeles to keep her quiet, the lawsuit argues. The agreement, attached as an an exhibit to the lawsuit, specifies arbitration as a way to resolve disputes. Last month, Cohen admitted to paying Daniels $130,000 but did not say what the payment was for. He said he used his personal funds to "facilitate" the payment and was not reimbursed by the Trump campaign or the Trump Organization. The Wall Street Journal reported in January that Cohen arranged the payment with Daniels to keep her from publicly discussing the alleged sexual encounter during the presidential campaign. After the report, In Touch published a 2011 interview with Daniels in which she claimed she and Trump had a sexual encounter after meeting at a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Nev., a year after his marriage to Melania Trump, his third wife. In the lawsuit filed Tuesday, Daniels argues that Trump likely knows about Cohen's ongoing attempts to silence her because the rules of the New York Bar Association, of which Cohen is a member, require that he keep his client informed of his activities. "It strains credulity to conclude that Mr. Cohen is acting of his own accord without the express approval and knowledge of his client Mr. Trump," the lawsuit adds. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/03/06/porn-star-stormy-daniels-files-lawsuit-against-trump-alleging-hush-agreement-invalid/401768002/
