I was shocked when people could actually fill their tanks, by themselves, at gas stations in this country. I was used to the system in Naija where the attendant puts the gas in your car.

Months after it terminated the contract for the long awaited 4th Mainland Bridge, the Lagos State Government says it will name a new investor and partner for the construction of the 38-kilometre bridge/road project before the end of this year (2017).

BusinessDay gathered that the Lagos State Government has been digging into the technical and financial capacity of the would-be new investor, to avoid the mistake of the past, which forced it to terminate the earlier contract for the project. The bridge is to be delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

Adebowale Akinsanya, Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, confirmed to our correspondent on Monday, that up to 10 investors have submitted proposals and the state government is getting into the last leg of the process of unveiling a new investor/partner in the project, following the verification of their proposals and claims.

“We have received five to ten proposals and are currently studying them and verifying their claims,” Akinsanya said, adding that the proposals are a combination of local and foreign investors who are excited about the development of the life-changing infrastructure. Among the foreign would-be investors are those from Europe, South Korea, China and America.

Imagine Matt Lauer earning $25 million/year, Meflyn Kelly being paid $18 million/year, or Charissa Thompson of Fox Sports earning a $500,000 annual salary. It's crazy. Being telegenic and having huge ratings also helps.

N3,000 max subscription price is almost unbelievable, when compared to DSTV's N14,000!!

I can give gifts to female friends on their birthdays, or do one or two favors for them, but I can NEVER agree to regularly foot her bills (or part of it). Like you said, I'd rather spend more on my sisters and close relatives.

And if I 'loan' a lady money, I'd expect to be paid back. After all, we are all equal, so there should be no special treatment.

From Nigerian Chelsea fans, yes he has done well. But if you check message boards of U.K. - based Chelsea fans, a lot of them wanted him to be benched.
Also, when managers of these European clubs buy a European player to compete for the same spot with a Black-African player, more than 90% of the time, the African player ends up being benched.
So, in a way, I'm happy that Don Conte eased my fear.

This tournament does not serve as a World Cup qualifier. There will be a separate qualification competition which starts next year. 5 teams will eventually represent Africa at the World Cup in China in 2019.

you are forgetting they might work for 10 hours which in your own estimate is btw $75-$120 a day x 5 =$400 to 600 a week average of $2000 a month for a non professional E nor try ? and as for a single person all he needs is one room until he gets his legal status and decides to have a family then rent a flat as a single person why would he need that large space?Only people who have never lived abroad have this mind set, Single people live in rooms to save money for as long as they could no need renting massive apartment cos you want to show off. same in the UK

My main point is to dispel the notion that everybody living in the US is living large, or is super comfortable. I am only trying to paint a more realistic picture for some people who feel that because their friend, aunt or uncle makes $2,500 per month, then they are entitled to ask for 'just' $400 every month. That aunt still has other bills to pay aside her rent.

Of course, a student or single person doesn't need a 2-bedroom apartment or a house, so a studio/1-bed apt will be sufficient. Even many native Americans and people with legal authorization to work in the U.S., who are professionals and have one or two kids, still live in rented apartments.

No menial job pays as high as $20/hr. The most you'd earn will be between $7.50 - $12/hr doing such jobs, depending on the state you reside in. In places like New York, California or Washington D.C., such earnings can, at best, get you a studio or room rental. You'd certainly won't be able to even afford a one-bedroom apartment. Moreover, the job market in the US is super competitive too.

Congrats to D'Tigers! I didn't watch the game, but making over 50% of 3-pointers is impressive.
