Come to think of it, it's a shame that the African champions are the first to have been eliminated in the African zone. Cameroon essentially did a "Greece" - who won the Euro 2004 tournament but failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup. Meanwhile, I'm beginning to doubt if Enyeama would still return to the team. If the SE complete the qualifiers without Enyeama playing a part, then the chances of him playing at the World Cup would be extremely low. He could think that it would be unfair to not have a taken a part in WCQ, and just show up to camp once the WC draws near. On the other hand, he may yet think of creating some history for himself. If he makes himself available for WC selection, and gets to start in the tournament, he would become the first SE player to play in 4 or more senior World Cup competitions. |
safarigirl:After beating Zambia on October 7, in Uyo, the players will add the shoki to the twerking. |
FisifunKododada:Okay. It feels nice to know that SE's destiny is squarely within their hands. A minimum of 2 points from the last two games will seal the WC ticket. |
FisifunKododada:Head to head is like the 4th tie-breaker. The 1st tie-breaker remains goal difference. So, if Nigeria and Zambia are tied on points, the GD will first come into play. |
TheGoodJoe:I don't think Simon Moses will contribute as much, defensively, as Onazi. As someone mentioned here, the Zambians' main strength is their wing play. So, if we have the likes of Ndid (or Ogu), Onazi and Victor Moses on the pitch, they would be able to track the runs of the Zambian full-backs, and generally help out our own full-backs defensively. |
My formation for the Zambia game in October will be as follows: ---------Shehu----Ekong---Balogun----Aina---- ------------------------Ndidi---------------- ---------V. Moses-----Mikel-----Onazi--------- --------------Iheanacho---Ighalo------------ Playing two strikers will trouble the Zambian central defense greatly, which basically means that at least, a draw is guaranteed with this formation. |
ferhyntorlah:The mentality has to change.. |
tbaba1234:Me neither. The Algerians are good enough to secure a home draw. |
tbaba1234:A draw at home to Zambia will seal qualification, only if Zambia fail to beat Algeria tomorrow. |
raumdeuter:Simon Moses scored the goal |
A "young businessman" from Akwa Ibom promised the team $20,000 per goal Money dey Naija sha |
My 3rd choice keeper, if Enyeama and Ikeme return to the team, will be Ezenwa/Alampasu. But I suspect that by the time Ikeme fully recovers, he wouldn't have gained much fitness to be part of the World Cup team. So, my three keepers would be Enyeama, Alampasu, and Ezenwa. |
nelszx:Yes My mistake |
The Super Eagles are on a 33-match unbeaten run in World Cup qualifiers. The last WCQ loss was a 1-0 defeat to Angola in June 2004. |

cococandy:1000 flies indeed |
Meanwhile Mexico have already qualified for the world cup with THREE matches to spare. Chai! Team USA just bleeped up yesterday, losing 0-2 to Costa Rica ![]() |
If Super eagles beat Cameroon on Monday, and Algeria v Zambia ends in a draw (highly likely), the SE would punch their ticket to Russia. The key for the SE on Monday would be to play a counter-attacking game. After all, we have talents that can function effectively in such a game plan. Cameroon will surely have to play an all attacking game cos of their current position on the table, leaving ample space for the likes of V. Moses, Simon Moses and Ighalo to punish them on the break. But if the Super Eagles fail to book the WC ticket after Tuesday, I believe a draw/win over Zambia next month will seal the deal, regardless of what happens in the other group game. |
BroZuma:It may have been a typo cos the correct amount could be $20 billion. |
Mikel has now scored 6 goals for the Super eagles |
Ilechukwu Ezenwa has been the best player so far |
Acidosis:I get your point, sir. But I believe a girl can really be friends with a guy and vice versa; however the opposite sex MUST NOT graduate to a best friend. That is big no no. |
Its obvious the appropriate fine wasn't N3 million, the immigration officers just wanted to scam her. Smh Meanwhile, visa validity is different from "authorized period of stay". For instance, if you possess a 2-year B-2 visa, you aren't allowed to stay in the US for 2 years. Instead, a CBP officer would issue an electronic authorized period of entry for, say, 3-6 months. Thus, you can only remain in the US for the 3-6 months despite possessing a 2-year multiple entry visa. I guess the standard Nigeria authorized period of stay is 30 days, as I have read. |
fwesh3:Oyango. But they call him 'The rock' |
Icon4s:Yes. But the Egyptians will come all out for them in Alexandria on Monday. Meanwhile, Uganda are yet to concede a goal in this qualifying series. They held Ghana to a 0-0 in... Accra; beat Congo Republic 1-0 |

If this allegation is true, Evans may be discharged and acquitted by the court. As the lawyer said, the police have no authority to coerce any accused person to plead one way or another. It is his fundamental right to not incriminate himself. Even in some jurisdictions, evidence that was collected illegally by the police could eventually lead to a 'not guilty' verdict by the trier of fact; or the presiding judge would rule that such evidence is inadmissible in the court. |
Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike’s lawyer, Mr. Olukoya Ogungbeje, has said the police coerced his client to plead guilty to the kidnapping charges before a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Wednesday. Describing the plea as police-motivated, Ogungbeje said the police threatened to kill Onwuamadike, who is widely known as Evans, if he failed to plead guilty. Ogungbeje, in a statement on the letter head of his law firm, Lawflex Chambers, which was e-mailed to our correspondent after the Wednesday’s proceedings, said his client would change his plea to “not guilty” at the next court sitting. He said Onwuamadike’s guilty plea was not out of free will, adding that the defendant was hoodwinked and coerced to plead guilty having been in detention for a long period. The lawyer stated that since June 10, 2017, when the suspect was remanded, the police had not allowed family members and lawyers to have access to him in custody. The lawyer stated that the guilty plea of the defendants on Wednesday was of no effect as the suspect was not given the opportunity to be guided lawyers before the charges were read to Onwuamadike and other suspects. He added that his client was only served with the charges in the open court on Wednesday and the judge also turned down the plea for an adjournment to afford his client time and facilities as guaranteed by the Constitution to confer with the defendant. Ogungbeje said, “The information/charge sheet was served on us in open court hence, the need to confer with our client to enable us avail ourselves with the constitutional right of adequate time and facility to put up our defence. “The court after turning down our plea for adjournment immediately ordered that the counts charges be read to him and others despite our plea for adjournment to enable us confer with our client in accordance with the law. “After the purported guilty plea of our client and the court rose, we stressed to have brief discussion time with our client and he told us clearly that the police told him to plead guilty failure to which they would kill him. “This is definitely unconstitutional and we intend to challenge this unconstitutional procedure for hoodwinking, undue influence, brainwashing and coercion on an accused into entering a guilty plea against his wish and free will. “He pointedly told us that being informed us that being informed now, he will change his police-motivated guilty plea to not guilty at the next adjourned date. “It is settled Law that plea of guilty must be made voluntary and direct devoid of any influence, coercion and manipulation. “In the meantime, after our brief conferring with our client in open court, he made it known to us that he will change his police motivated guilty plea to ‘not guilty’ at the next adjourned date.” He insisted that he, as defence lawyer, had “a responsibility to assist the cause of justice in accordance with the law”. “This press statement is necessary for the Public to be well informed and proper education of the Evans’ case,” the lawyer stated. Suggesting that his client was vulnerable to police manipulation as a result of his long detention and was not accorded this right to being legally guided, Ogungbeje stated, “It must be noted that Our Client had been in Police Custody since 10th of June 2017 till date and we his lawyer and family members have been denied access to him. http://thenigerialawyer.com/%e2%80%8eevans-will-change-his-plea-to-not-guilty-lawyer/ |

FYI. It's totally legal for women in New York city to walk around topless in public since 1992... There are only three states where it is illegal for women to be shirtless: Utah, Tennessee and Indiana
|
Activists paraded shirtless through the streets of New York on Saturday, flashing their chests to celebrate the 10th annual GoTopless Day Parade. Walking to the beat of drums in a carnival-style atmosphere, dozens of men and women embarked on one-mile (1.6-kilometer) march from Columbus Circle to Bryant Park for the event, which this year falls on Women’s Equality Day. Participants of all shapes and sizes held up placards proclaiming “Equal Topless Rights For All” and “War Is Obscene, Not My Nipples, Meditate 4 Peace Topless.” “I wouldn’t miss this for the world,” said Rebecca Barwick, 35, who traveled up from Virginia and works in the federal government. “It’s important to send a message. These are our bodies. They should not be policed any other way than men’s. Men walk around like this all the time, so why is it such a big deal?” Many inked “Go Topless” across their chests and wore hair bands with breasts popping up from the scalp on springs. One woman wore a blue Wonder Woman cape, and a couple of men wore bras. Heavily out-numbered by spectators, the march was organised by US-based rights group GoTopless, which has spent 10 years campaigning for women to be able to go shirtless. It is already legal for women to bare their breasts in public in New York, America’s fourth most populous state. Parallel events were scheduled in other US cities, which this year fell on the 97th anniversary of Women’s Equality Day, when American women were given the right to vote.
