PoliticsRe: APC Will Slash Tariffs On Imported Cars -osinbajo by pedel: 12:38pm On Feb 12, 2015
God bless you. Nigeria deserves the people that governs them. Let them increase the tariff to 100% people will still buy tokunbo. How many civil servants can buy a brand new car at the current prices without finance facilities in place?
They make policies without supporting structures in place.
We will see what will happen to those companies and their created jobs if people don't patronise them.
deemdeem:

And who told u that importation of cars doesn't create jobs. Starting from the buyer, clearing and forwarding agents, transporters, auto mechanics down to the scrap metal man that deals with the remnants. Don't be deceived, there is currently thousands if not millions benefitting from the status quo.
The truth is as long as prices of Nigerian made prices are at the high side, it will never be attractive to the vast majority. I don't blame the producers either, their cost of production is also high. If Nigerians don't buy, won't the company fold up?
Even with the increase in tariff, tokunboh cars are still cheaper, attractive and even safer so what really should be the primary catch to the Nigerian consumer?
again I state, the policy is good but the timing is wrong.
PoliticsRe: APC Will Slash Tariffs On Imported Cars -osinbajo by pedel: 12:26pm On Feb 12, 2015
This is the most informed contribution so far on this subject. How do you expect people who have never left Nigerian boarder to understand that there must be a financial system in place before those policies can work. Some people are just quoting economic theories that they learnt in the university whereas our national circumstances does not yet support them. Now I can't afford a new car, no bank is going to give car loans at reasonable interest rate and I can't afford an imported car because of the tariff. So tell me how the policy benefit me.
Boss13:
The average citizen or residents in developed countries cannot truly afford a new vehicle by paying outright cash. But they have designed credit schemes, hire purchase rights, vehicle lease options, monthly repayment plans and also trade-ins schemes so that they can be affordable. Do you think an average american will go to a vehicle dealer/distribution shop and count $40,000 or even $27,000 to buy a vehicle with cash except you are an I.T guru, investment banker (who has received his yearly bonus), a celeb or sport player. The IRS will be knocking on your door the next day.

Of course, the differential between importing a new car and assembling them here in the country may not be much. The issue should be, how do we get the average nigerian to buy these cars manufactured or assembled in nigeria.

PoliticsRe: I ‘ll Defeat Regional Force, Says Shekau In New Video by pedel: 7:47pm On Feb 09, 2015
The Toyata Hilux vans are new. Using the VIN/chasis numbers from the vehicles recovered from the BH, the government should be able to know the ownership history of the vehicles. They should be able to know the Toyota dealer who imported them originaly and to whom it was sold. A lot of things makes no sense in this country. I wont be suprised if these Hilux van are from the ones parked in the premises of Police college in Ikeja, Lagos.
I can't place 100 naira bet on the FGN being the sponsor of BH.

What's your point? You sound bitter, for what reason? What story is made up? Try and be objective. Your comment doesn't make any sense, you must have quoted the wrong post.

You really spooling ignorance and a lot of "madeup" stories! Not healthy for you.....

PoliticsRe: Osinbajo Chides Jonathan For Attending OIC Meeting by pedel: 3:26am On Feb 04, 2015
Thanks for your observation. You noted that Osinbajo is politically irrelivant, what do you suggest that we or APC do about him? Also enlighten us on what it means to be a religious fundamentalist and extremist, also dont forget to tell us the difference between the two.
Thanks.
brainpower:
This same 2013 he was fighting insurgency while Buhari didn't fight. GEJ was trying to use every means necessary to see to the end of the insurgency. Osinbajo should stop cleaning the image of Buhari, whether he wins or not, he is a fundamentalist and an extremist. His statements and actions are there to prove it. And please nairalanders, I know Osinbajo as a seasoned lawyer but what I don't know is what he brings to the table as far as politics is concerned for the APC. His CAN and PFN has abandoned him, so it means he is politically irrelevant. Which also means that by any reason Buhari is voted in and he starts misbehaving, Osinbajo doesn't have the political might to stand up to him. Votewisly.
PoliticsRe: Pastors Collected N6b To Campaign Against APC, Buhari – Amaechi Says by pedel: 1:55am On Feb 04, 2015
Thanks for the complement. You asked an important question.
This is my answer: It would be convenient for me to say Tinubu belongs to the ruling elites because hardly can you find an ex-political office holder that have not used their position to amassed wealth. That was why I said the election is not between political parties or between GEJ and GMB. It is an election where the people say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Having said that, I see Tinubu as part of the 'process' through which the people are being given a voice to speak, their questionable personalty and personal agenda notwithstanding. The 'product' the whole country is looking for now is a change in the way this country is being governed. It is not really important the 'process' through which the change comes; what we need is to first and formost stop the country from bleeding to death. After we stop the bleeding we may start asking them where they got the 'first aid kits and haemostasis skills from when they are not doctors'. We dont ask restaurant owners whether they cook their food with kerozene stove or gas; what we need is good food.

All our politicians are part of the rulling elites. What we should do, as a nation, now is to let them understand that they are there to serve the people not themselves. Remember many people voted for Jonathan in 2011 and not PDP. People care less about party or party executives, who funds the party; they just want better lives.

(This is between you and me: It will take more than the February 14th election to effect the change, though that may be the start of what I called the EMANCIPATION OF THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE. It will be a peoples' movement that will cause the ruling elites to feel what ordinary people are passing through now; there will be a revolution. The rulling elites are just like the Biblical Pharao who will not allow Israel to be free untill all their first sons were killed.)
Dewze:
You are some intelligent fella, well read I suspect. I would not be wrong to say you are a writer. Kudos.
Honestly, I was about to give a big like to your post when the thought stopped my hand, so I ask, on which part of the ''ruling elite vs the poor Nigerians'' divide does Buhari's backer Tinubu stand?

Pls choose your answer carefully if you must answer.

I am not related to Amaechi. The onus probandi is on you to disapprove my conclusion and assumptions. Get your PVC ready and don't make mistake with it on February 14.

U must be related to amaechi. What makes you jump into the conclusion that I've not been abroad,.............etc.? You are so delusional! Who will come here and begin to argue with you on his own personal life? You are so funny grin Your assumptions were rather hallucinatory
PoliticsRe: Pastors Collected N6b To Campaign Against APC, Buhari – Amaechi Says by pedel: 10:11pm On Feb 03, 2015
As a matter of fact you didn't disappoint me. Your response is exactly what I was expecting.
You should be able to answer all of my questions because I didn't ask for your name and address, I didn't ask for your phone number and where you are working.
Your original post revealed one thing: You have been a victim of a poor governance.
Poverty has really affected the way you think and your sense of what is right or wrong is damaged. Obviously you have never seen what real national development looks like; I can conveniently conclude that you have never been out of Nigeria and you have no family living abroad.
Even if you have someone living abroad, you loathe them because you believe they are not helping you and that your life should be their responsibility. You are possibly unemployed or earn less than 23,000 naira per month. I doubt if you are paying for the house you live in.

Just to correct your erronous thinking: This election is not between APC and PDP; It is not between Christian and Muslim; It is not between GEJ and GMB.
It is an election between the ruling elites and poor Nigerians. Have you ever wondered why Muslim/Christian always come up during election period? Because they know that most Nigerians cant reason beyond what you are told in the church or mosque.
This is the election between you that can't get married at the age 35 and people who spend hundreds of millions of Nigerian money on their children's wedding.
This election is between people paying 1000 naira for scam immigration jobs and the people who actually spend the money.
This election is between young girls who has turned prostitutes or runs-babes and your pot-belly politicians who actually screws them.
This election is between your religious bigotry and your destiny. Now you have the chance to choose your destiny over any nostalgia the politicians and your religious leaders are feeding you with.
Just look around you, is this how life should be?
I know you are going to insult me after reading my comment. But I pray that God open your eyes.
NB: Rotimi Amaechi is a two term governor. He doesn't need your pity. I was reading in another news today about Bishop Oyedepo investing 9 billion naira through a stockbroker called Valueline Securities and Investment Limited. What does this tell you? They dont need your pity.
Pity yourself and fight for yourself.
(This is between you and me: Stop posting rubish on Nairaland. I know you are not one of those people paid to do so. You and I should just keep coming here to read post and click likes when we feel like doing so. God bless you.)

Wao you have really spoken.. I want to make a comment on your post but I need to ask you some few questions:

How old are you?
What do you do for a living?
Which church do you worship at?
Who is your Pastor? or are you a pastor?
Have you, ever, travelled out of Nigeria?
Did you finish secondary school? (I know BSc and SSCE is more or less the same in Nigeria now)

I am waiting for your answer so I can make accurate assesment of your personality before replying to what you just posted.
Please your reply will determine my comment.
Thanks.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Vs Jonathan: Beyond The Election By Charles Soludo by pedel: 7:20am On Jan 26, 2015
So how is your comment relevant to the points raised in this thesis?
Chigold101:
Soluda has once again proven that he is a weak man. A man i so much loved but his unforgiven spirit is second to none.

Soludo is writing like this against GEJ because GEJ is the reason why he lost Anambra election in 2010(I worked as member of his campaign team).

In 2013 he joined APGA and was talked about how to continue with Obi‘s good work as governor of Anambra state but Obi who already had Obiano in mind used style to push Soludo aside...

He joined Atiku‘s camp in 2011 thinking that GEJ will lose at the PDP primaries, but their camp was disgraced. Now he has come here to cause confusion in the polity because all he wants is to see GEJ disgraced, but it will not work for him in Jesus name.

This is how his unforgiven spirit made him to make sure that Dora Akunyiri (his wife‘s aunty. Dora is the younger sister to the wife‘s mother) never win Anambra central senatoral sit. He took it upon himself to make sure that Ngige is decleard the winner even when there was a little confusion in few constituencie. All because Dora through GEJ & Abuja PDP helped Peter Obi defeat him in 2010.

As an insider who knows the fight going on between Soludo, GEJ & Obi am not suprised at all with the this piece. It has some elements of truth but it is coated with many sweet lies.

He took sabatical after Peter Obi messed him up in 2013 prior to Anambra state guber election. Which sabatical? He went in to leak his wounds...

He thinks he has seen where to nail GEJ.

Obi1kenobi: You just speculated a load of crap. You do not know why he was refused entry. You just offered your own conjecture with pointless links. Insulting people about 100 Naira bandwidth just makes you look stupid.

And the greatest mark Oyedepo has made is siphoning money from the pockets of impoverished people who remain in the cycle of poverty while their "daddy" laughs off in his private jet. I respect the mark of people like Bill Gates who created and profited from a product from their intellect and make cutting edge developments that impact human civilization. I have little respect for pastorpreneurs who fleece their gullible flock and use a religious institution as an avenue to self-enrichment. They're little different from the rotten politicians who cruise around in money stolen from the public. Infact, they're close friends and roll in the same circles with such people.
I am hoping you can dispute the contribution of Christian religion to civilization. Tell us if tertiary education hasn't improved in Nigeria since Churches started founding universities.
