An excerpt of APC and Tinubu lawyers’ response to one of the grounds of petition by Peter Obi has generated funny reactions from a section of the public who wondered how supposed trained lawyers could proffer such an argument as defense for how Obi was not qualified to run for the Presidential Election under Labour Party. They even went ahead and promised that they were going to provide a video proof of Obi swearing never to leave APGA.
One now wonders what law such swear breached. When did that become part of constitutional qualification for the position of president.
With responses like this, those who say Tinubu and INEC have no concrete response to many grounds of Obi’s petition may not be wrong.
Recall that between Thursday and Friday, Obi’s Lawyers have been able to tender Certified True Copies of Form EC8A of 12 States as evidence to the Tribunal which have all been admitted.
Obi’s lawyers say they have documents from 6 more states to tender and had requested for the case to continue today, Saturday, June 3, 2023, but Tinubu, APC and INEC lawyers pleaded with the court to adjourn till Monday, June 5, 2023.
The submission of Certified True Copies of Form EC8A of 12 States, so far, is totally different from the expectation of the respondents’ lawyers, and even the general public, who had thought that Obi would be using the IREV as his primary source of evidence.
But with the submission of the true electoral materials from the contested states, the judges would now be afforded with the true picture of the reality of what happened on Election Day which would now help them to determine if the winner announced by INEC is truly the winner of the election or was someone else denied his victory.
I once worked at a place where I earned 70k as salary and had to leave after I found out that I could barely survive on it through the month not to talk of savings.
It was there I came to the conclusion that the Minimum Wage in Nigeria should be 150k.
See eh, the governors that are being begged to pay ordinary 30k salary to married men with children, are heartless.
Like, what is 30k? Still you don’t want to pay it.
I don’t even want to talk about those who owe salaries.
The 19 Resident Electoral Commissioners that these idiots approved their appointments few months to the election were all APC members with some of them having the poster of their campaign for a political position under APC flying around then. But what did they do? They went ahead and told them to bow and go even though it was clearly unconstitutional.
They approved loan request of Buhari which has brought us to our knees right now.
The only people that would be impressed by Lawan and Gbajabiamila led 9th NASS are Tinubu Owambe boys.
Acekidc4: Yes please help us lecture this Obidients rodents what fuel Subsidy is and the benefits of removing it. Most of them don't know, they're just Shouting Upandan on how Tinubu is Wicked for Removing Fuel Subsidy.
OAFMods: You remember ibori looting but you brain is dead from remembering looting by Abaribe Kalu n Theodore Orji Elechi Anyim n other criminals from your tribe.
And do you see us worshiping those guys you mentioned the way you are worshiping Ibori?
kokorokoman: please were you on nairaland when obi was governor? even anambrarians wanted to kill him with insults here, he performed abysmally as a governor. of the three past govts in anambra obi is the worse of all, three of the four major contestants in the last elections were past governors in their respective states, name kwakwaso, tinubu and obi, of the three of them obi also is the worse of them of all in terms of economy and infrastructural development. so how do you want such a person to come second in an election against people that are obviously better than.
So Kwankwaso was also ahead of him in the election?🤔
No South west State Governor, including my Governor, HE Sanwo-Olu, must ever appoint Igbo or any non-Yoruba except the Governor of his or her state has appointed a Yoruba first.
Since 1999, South East state Governors keep appointing only Igbo of their own but want other states to appoint Igbo. That is a recipe for injustice and kolewek.
For justice, appoint non-Igbo first and non Igbo states will appoint Igbo, collaborating by reciprocation. Gone are those days of injustice when you hold your own 100% and want to collect that of others in Yorubaland then turn around to work against the dominant political aspirations of the Yoruba when they demand you give them from your own.
Gov. Alex Otti , appoint a Yoruba today if you want an Abian to get an appointment in Yorubaland! If you don't, for justice and fairness, nothing for Abians in Yorubaland too.
The cheating will no longer be tolerated. Give us land in Igboland if you want land in Yorubaland. Give us appointment in Igboland if you want appointment in Yorubaland. That is collaborating by reciprocation.
I was wondering why you were the one that was posting Otti’s appointments. I didn’t know it’s because you wanted to spewing this ethnic trash on it.
Ask yourself, how many Yoruba people are resident in Abia State or you want him to go and harvest a Yoruba from Ogbomoso and make him a Special Adviser so that he would please characters like you?
Isobug: Exactly Imagine what the idiot wrote up there. That could make an uniformed Person believe those rubbish without thinking twice
That’s it.
Since I discovered that a lot of things I understand or decipher easily is actually a big work for others, I started taking the setting of the right narratives more seriously.
You’d be surprised at the weak minds that the trash he wrote up there would convince.
Isobug: This oponu Amotekum miscreant never get sense? The era of your irrelevant propaganda is over. You are wasting your time and resources writing irrelevancies. Okoro means male issue in Igbo land, Incase you think it has an evil connotation. Half humans like you are one of the reasons we're on here on Nairaland
Exactly!
So many times I’ve thought of abandoning Nairaland, when I remember that these idiots would now have the free ride to push whatever propaganda they like, I just remain here to make they don’t succeed in propagating the kind of lies their fathers propagated in the 60s, 70s and 80s with their media platforms.
AntiZikist: I have always maintained that the Igbo has always been the greatest enemy of the SS and no other Igbo politician confirms this like Orji Uzor Kalu who in his inordinate ambition to emerge as DSP has aligned with the northern hawks standing firmly against Akpabio emerging as SP.
Orji Uzor Kalu knows he stands no chance emerging as SP so he has now pitched himself to the Yari campaign team in hopes of being rewarded with the DSP position.
This isn't new to Igbo politics as the north always sees the Igbo as willing allies to thwart southern interests since the inglorious days of Zik.
Now it is not enough for this Congo Judas to openly come out to oppose a Southern SP campaign for his own inordinate ambitions but Orji Uzor Kalu made pronouncements against the Ministry of Niger Delta which he said must be scrapped. Orji made that statement as part of his pledge and allegiance to northern hawks who opposed then President Yaradua's amnesty program and creation of Niger Delta ministry. It is important to highlight here that Igbo legislators aligned with the north against what they said was pandering to Niger Delta demands.
Out of all the moribund and cash sink MDAs , why was it that Orji Kalu singled out only the Ministry of Niger Delta affairs ? That alone should be confirmation of what I have been screaming my head off here for the past 5ys that the Igbo remain the greatest enemy of the SS since 1953!
My opposition to Peter Obi was hinged on this Igbo meddlesome and constant attempt to act as the spoiler of the SS .
I was damn right in my own submission to reject Obi (and every other Igbo politician and people at large) owing to their Zikist ambitions to corral and steal the resources of the Niger Delta under the banner of either a Central govt or their dead Biafra project.
If you are from SS and still some how have pity or political support for the Igbo, you need your brains examined.
You are nothing but a divisive element commissioned to further the divisive narrative of those who threatened by the unbreakable brotherhood between the Southeast and Southsouth.
Igbos are the problem of Southsouth but Igbos stuck their heads out for Jonathan even to a sinking point. Their support for Jonathan caused Buhari to hate and punish them for 8 years but they have never regretted that decision but you are here spewing nonsense.
Where was the Yoruba when the Igbos were voting for a Southsouth son to remain as president?
Is Orji Uzor Kalu no longer the darling of the north and Yoruba?
I thought you guys said he and his other fellow efulefus are the only reasonable Igbo men alive? What changed?
Is it also Orji Uzor Kalu that has gotten Tinubu to withdraw his support for Akpabio as reported in several tabloids?
fergie001: Did you not factor that there will be rigging in the 2023 election? Every politician in the Country, Obi inclusive, knew there was going to be some % of rigging, so it isn't strange to me at all.
Rigging will continue to reduce hopefully, but it will remain there. Atiku & Tinubu can also argue their votes were suppressed elsewhere. See for the umpteenth time, if CPC, ANPP, nPDP, APGA-faction, AC had not come together, the PDP will remain in power today.
If PDP & LP go into 2027 separately, they will meet a definite outcome, DEFEAT. It is the obvious truth.
Maybe I’m just too straightforward that I tend to believe people when they say something.
I believed INEC when they said that they would upload the election result to the IREV from polling units. I also believed them because they had done that in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun. And had they done that, the election would have been almost impossible to rig.
fergie001: He is in control of the Party as it stands.
I don't know who will better him in that Party. Dankwambo cannot even win his NE cumulatively.
Tambuwal is from the NW, how many Southern States will he win? It will only take the 'unseen' hands of the Presidency to initiate that coup.
LP and the Presidency are parallel lines. As long as the PDP and LP go into elections with different Candidates, it is a sweet and delicious ride for the APC.
KD already showed you where the North will go, if they don't go APC.
@the italicised, what will make them support Obi if they get a refined Candidate in their own Party?
@ the bolded, that will be in Southern Nigeria/Benue/Plateau not core-North. It will always be his albatross. The PDP will likely field another Northern Candidate in 2027.
How can Obi win any NWern State? How can he win any NErn State? That is 13 already!
I don't blame Obi. It is not just about himself, it is where he is from. So, I pity him and myself inclusive.
If God keeps Tinubu alive, it is still 2031.
garfield1
Obi won Taraba in the northeast but it was rigged for Atiku.
Obi got more votes in Adamawa, Bauchi and Gombe than was allotted to him.
Are you saying that if INEC had allowed for transparency in the last election that the outcome wouldn’t have been different?
Raheeqilmaktoom: The only right alignment here is some PDP members working for Obi which is:
1. A tall order.
Obi's only hope is for the PDP to capitulate to him which is highly impractical, the PDP would rather present a candidate and pull off the same thing he did on them in 2023 than provide him a pathway.
It's going to be a war of attrition as they call it in military - a war where you continuously take pounds of flesh from each other with no winner between you save APC, in this case.
2. They lack the spread and capacity to effect any meaningful impact.
The 2023 demographics show the bigger north, the SW and some SS areas going with APC, if the president performs, that combination will stand - even stronger, and there's no way PDP, LP can beat that.
Nobody, I say it again, nobody, voted for Tinubu in the Southsouth.
Acekidc4: Yes please help us lecture this Obidients rodents what fuel Subsidy is and the benefits of removing it. Most of them don't know, they're just Shouting Upandan on how Tinubu is Wicked for Removing Fuel Subsidy.
I’ve had to explain to two of my friends in details, what subsidy means. And I’m not talking about illiterates, no, both of them are graduates and quite politically aware but they have had poor understanding of what fuel subsidy truly means and why it is such a big deal and why successive governments have been battling to remove it.
The experience informed me that there could be a lot of Nigerians, like these my two friends, who are joining the discussion about fuel subsidy removal and its harsh effect on their lives without basic understanding of what it actually means.
So, I made a little YouTube search and bumped into this video which feel did a great justice to the meaning of fuel subsidy and the issues surrounding it and I felt to share and educate other Nigerians so they could have clear understanding of the issue at hand and why subsidy is a cankerworm that can no longer be retained which calls for why every citizen should support the government to remove it irrespective of your political divide.
Nlfpmod and Mynd44, I think this will be of great service to a lot of Nairalanders and Nigerians at large.
Dsalvo: Objective conclusion not relevant here. The previous Government made no budgetary allocation for fuel subsidy payment. That is the true state of affairs Tinubu announced truthfully.
If Nigerians are progressive, the next step is to lobby the current government to ensure the extreme sufferings of Nigerians, over fuel subsidy removal, is alleviated asap but they should still partner with Mr,President to insist fuel subsidy is gone and must remain gone.
All this talk of no provision for subsidy in the budget, have guys ever heard of Supplementary Budget?
Tinubu could have drawn up a supplementary budget that retain at least 50% subsidy payment for the next 6 months by which time we would hope Dangote Refinery will start refining fuel.
And that’s some correction for you there, Dangote Refinery has not started refining fuel. According to Dangote himself, Nigerians should expect first refined product from the refinery by July or August. But experts say the refinery won’t be ready until first quarter of 2024. I go with the experts.
yemmit90: Hmmmmm, I will be very objective with election matter here. Do you think Peter Obi got requires votes in NW and NE to stand any chance, not to even talk about 25% spread in 23 states? Do you know that the votes of these 2 zones alone swallowed almost entire votes in the South?
Do you think is logical for a party that don't have party agents in over 50% of polling units to be claiming rigging?
Will you still say that after Obi, Atiku, and Kwankwaso who were formally under the same party PDP shared a hooping 14m votes as against APC 8m votes, they still rigged the election?
Will you say as big as APC with formidable structure cannot pull up 8m votes as against their harsh rival PDP that pull a total of 14m votes?
Do you witness what happened at tribunal today when LP Lawyers presented supposed eveidences from 20 LGA in Ekiti state. The state that has only 16 LGA?
In my opinion, I don't think they actually rigged this election, the only place I think Wike ignorantly manipulated result for APC is Rivers state. APC actually lost this election by wide margin, what gave them undeserving victory was disintegration of PDP.
I hate it when you guys proffer the balkanization of PDP as the reason APC won as though the voters of APC remained unchanged since 2015. If that is the case, then why didn’t APC score the 15million they scored in 2015 or the 13million they scored in 2019?
Again, do you find nothing wrong in the fact that INEC reneged on their promises and guidelines, and shut down the IREV that would have ensured transparent inflow of votes let’s see how much you people’s talk of the Northwest votes would have faired transparently?
The truth is that Atiku, Kwankwaso and Tinubu canceling themselves out in your almighty Northwest is the reason Obi won this election.
Obi scored over 290k votes in Kaduna according to INEC result but LP insists they did more than that to give them 25% in Kaduna, a northwest state.
Obi won in Taraba, even according to votes on IREV, but his votes were allocated to Atiku, and maybe Tinubu. Taraba is the northeast.
Obi also did well, and most likely did above 25% in Adamawa but votes were rigged for Atiku. Adamawa is Atiku’s home state in the northeast too.
So also was Obi’s votes viciously manipulated in Bauchi, Gombe and Borno of northeast. In a form EC8A sighted online on Election Day, Obi scored about 184 votes in a single polling unit in Bauchi Local Government of Bauchi State. But when the result of the entire local government was computed, your INEC allocated just 140 votes to Obi.
Are those the things you are defending?
Remember, I’m still in the north o! I’ve even talked about southern states where even a PDP agent said on National Television that by the result in their possession, Obi scored about 930,000 votes. Those votes were viciously slashed and allocated to Tinubu. Or you think that’s a made up story?
Let’s not talk about the systematic rigging that went on in other Southwest states which resulted in over voting in some states of the region.
garfield1: The op cannot even spot the difference.90 out of 213 is substantial to change the outcome.can obi prove irregularities in at least 9 states, massive irregularities? Secondly, inec rejecting any document is normal that's if you are conversant with court cases.obidients are legally unintelligent hence these
Oh really?
Then why did the same INEC tell the court of first instance, tribunal, that the election was free, fair and valid, only to change their plea and remember that election did not hold in 90 precincts at the Appeal?
xtivin: As a lawyer,if INEC denies its own documents that I am very sure belongs to her. INEC or the Judge should in the real sense charge OBI for forgery if they are sure. Naija!!
Do you now understand why people are surprised that INEC is denying its own documents?
Because they were not supposed oppose their own documents except they can prove those documents are forged which is not the case here.
"They told (my mother) that I must get on the radio and television and announce my resignation," the minister said. "When she asked why, they told her it was because I did not pay oil subsidy money."
With subsidy talk returning as front burner since the declaration of President Tinubu that “subsidy is gone”, an old video of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has emerged where she revealed that going against the subsidy cabals in 2012 led to the cabals sending men to kidnap her mother and demanding her resignation as minister on national television.
Okonjo-Iweala who was speaking at an event that seemed like a graduation ceremony of a foreign university stated that she almost gave in to the demand until the then President, Goodluck Jonathan, encouraged her not to give in to such blackmail.
It’s refreshing to recall that the woman was later rescued from her kidnappers through the combined effort of the security agencies. But this story lays credence to the statement credited to the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, that they were expecting those benefiting from the entire subsidy scam to fight back; as they have always done.
The Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finace , Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala revealed Monday that her mother, Prof Kamene Okonjo was kidnapped by those who claimed their fuel subsidy payments were blocked and the non-release of SURE-P funds.
She said her mother was neither given food nor water during her kidnap.
Professor Kamene Titi Okonjo, the 82-year-old retired professor of Sociology at the University of Nigeria, UNN, Nsukka, was released six days after a 10-man gang seized her from her home at Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.
yemmit90: Certainly it would, any candidate irrespective of the party belong will be greeted with same sentiment. Northerners love power, the highest they can allow is for southerner president to spend 2 terms in office.
Mark this post today, northerners would rather work for someone that will spend 4 more years than another fresh candidate. The same thing the like of Tinubu and Co did for Buhari in 2019 despite the fact that they knew he was a failure.
I’m not doubting your point.
But with the right calculation and politicking, and if this year’s voting demographics is maintained, trust me, the northerners can be beaten at their game.
Peter Obi beat them to their game if not that INEC did its abracadabra which we are waiting for the courts to look into.
garfield1: You still miss the point.presenting ctc of results is different from establishing irregularities.in proving election rigging, you don't do it state by state or lga.you must do it at each polling unit.obi has presented documents,he must now prove irregularities in each unit result one by one
Lol!
Calm down! Don’t be in a haste. I’m sure you never knew Obi had the certified true copies of Form EC8A for all the Local Governments in a State like Niger for instance. Now he has presented it in court.
Is form EC8A for recording LG results or polling unit results?
You see why I said you should relax?
INEC would have to explain to the court why Obi scored 200 votes in one polling unit in Suleja but by the time the entire local government was computed, Obi’s votes reduced to 140 for the entire LGA.
When Obi said, “we won the election and we will prove it”, he wasn’t bluffing. He meant every word therein.
yemmit90: Events of 2027 presidential election would be determined by performances of this current administration. Obi enjoy the wave of popularity, particularly in South south, south west and North Central, among Christians communities because of abysmal performance of Buhari/APC and Muslim- Muslim ticket.
If this administration perform very well, and the principle of federal character is strictly adherence to, he may not get upto 3 millions vote in 2027. Besides, the fear of voting any southerner who might probably be fighting to spend another 8 years after 4 years of Tinubu will work against any other candidate aside the president. Alot of power brokers will prefer Tinubu to spend 8 years and had the power to return to North than voting another southerner.
Valid point.
But would a PDP southern candidate not be greeted with same sentiments or would PDP rather go for a northerner which would be more suicidal?
So, you see why an alliance with Obi remains PDP’s best chance?
garfield1: Wike and saraki and gej are still popular
Can you sometimes try to be reasonable for once and drop ur biases?
Who will vote Wike?
Not his Rivers people?
Not Delta people. After he went against Okowa.
Not Bayelsa people. After he has had running battle with Dickson for a long time which culminated in him demolishing Bayelsa Government property.
Not Edo people after his battles with Obaseki.
Not Akwa Ibom people after his divergence with Udom.
Not the Southeast after he went against Obi.
Not northerners. He has never been popular in the north after demolishing a mosque and trying to stop northern states from enjoying VAT. Add that to becoming enemy of Atiku and his men.
Is the votes of Southwest, not even all Southwesterners, enough to make him president? Especially when he’s running against Tinubu; which would be a joke anyways.
Saraki….
Saraki is just another Atiku. Bulk of Saraki’s supporters are southerners. If Obi is in the contest and retains his usual demograph then Saraki goes nowhere. Just like Obi, Saraki is not popular in the core north. They see him more like a Yoruba than a northerner.
You claim to know politics. Stop making submissions that ridicule that claim.
