Will Tiv people agree to relinquish power? If not, the demands of the Igede people are in order. |
How did Donnaruma beat Mendy to Yachine trophy? |
efighter:And you don’t think that the money bags will simply change tactics? How did Andy Uba become APC candidate in Anambra? You think he was popular? He simply bought up those who were meant to supervise the elections and they wrote result for him. So, Direct Primaries is also not immune to the manipulation of moneybags. |
duro4chang:Lol! Don’t give up on Nigeria. Better days ahead. But I don’t understand how you are speaking Yoruba and Igbo at this time o! |
duro4chang:Lol! But you know elections must hold and the elections must take a process. So you must choose. |
Don’t tag it terrorism, this is an offshoot of Ezza/Ezillo tribal war in Ebonyi. All these uninformed bloggers should be have their website jammed abeg. The lawmaker is Ezza, I think, so he was probably kidnapped by Effium people as he is believed to be the greatest backbone of Ezza people in the war. |
mrvitalis:Lol! Check my history on Nairaland and you will see I am one of the greatest opponent of Tinubu. With that said, I think Buhari is not favorably disposed to handing over power to Tinubu because he knows Tinubu is a criminal just like the rest of Nigeria knows. |
mrvitalis:Why do I suspect that you think I’m a Tinubu supporter? |
mrvitalis:I know the mode of primaries approved by party NWC is what will stand. What I’m contesting is the numbers that such exercise manufacturers, how genuine are they? Meanwhile, APC knows that if it has any interest in winning 2023 elections, then Southeast or Southsouth would produce their candidate. A candidate from the Southwest would be an orphan in the South with Northern votes not guaranteed. |
After the general public pressured the NASS to allow Electronic Transmission of Election Results without INEC having to recourse to any other agency, they seemed to try to get back at us by inserting a controversial provision in the proposed New Electoral Act. The new provision is that every political party in Nigeria must produce its candidates for elections through Direct Primaries without provision for alternative. The most vocal opponents of this provision seem to be elected governors across party lines, though they are not alone as there are other political stakeholders that are also not in support of Direct Primaries. Again political parties are also fiercely against the new provision; arguing that political parties do not have good party register that adequately captured members of their parties and as such, they cannot determine when a number from a certain ward exceeds what it should be since there is no record in the first place. On the other hand, the provision seems to have its major proponents in National Assembly members in both chambers. Opponents of the provision argue that it is cumbersome, bulky, expensive, etc. While the proponents are arguing that it is good for the masses as the provision will return power to the people unlike Indirect Primaries where money bags buy up the delegates which they influenced their election in the first place anyway. Between these two is INEC, which the makers of the law have vested with the responsibility to supervise these primaries in all polling units. Even though INEC seems to be maintaining a calculated neutrality so it won’t paint a picture of aligning with a certain political interest, it is obvious that INEC has some reservations for the provision too. Since the argument began, INEC has stated in many fora that Direct Primaries would increase the cost of our elections if it must monitor it. Most recently, INEC chairman was quoted to have said that the commission would be needing 17,000 staff to be able to monitor the direct primary one political party alone. Then lastly there is us. The people whom the provision is supposedly meant to favour. What do we want? To me, as much as Direct Primaries seems like the best way to go on paper, I think it is fraught with a lot of its own shortcomings that make me not think it would be a better alternative to Indirect Primaries. Let’s consider some instances of direct primaries in the past to get a better picture of what we are talking about. In 2019, the NWC of APC approved Direct Primaries for Lagos State with the major candidates being Babajide Sanwolu and the then incumbent governor Akinwunmi Ambode. In the end of the primary elections, Sanwolu reportedly garnered 970,850 votes to defeat Ambode who was said to have garnered 72,901 votes. However, in the main election, same Sanwolu merely garnered 739,445 votes. One is now forced to ask if there was larger voter turnout during APC primaries than the general elections. Another instance we will consider is Anambra where the candidate of the APC in the past election is said to have won the primaries with over 200,000 votes but struggled with a little above 46,000 votes in the main election. And you ask yourself where are the remaining people who voted for him at the primary elections? Worthy of note however, is that in these two primaries, the officials meant to supervise the congress tend have reservations with the result of the primaries. In October 2018, Vanguard Newspaper reported how the electoral officials sent from APC national headquarters to monitor the APC primaries disagreed with the result of the primaries but we all know who was APC chairman then and how he can’t go against a certain interest. Again in Anambra, both the other contestants in primary election, party stakeholders and even party members are still contending that election did not take place with some contending that as late as 6pm, electoral officials were nowhere to be seen in their ward only for Governor Dapo Abiodun led party primary panel to endorse the numbers that were manufactured as result. So these instances can adequately lay bare my view that Direct Primaries seems to have even more tendency of irregularities than what we have with Indirect Primaries. As such, I conclude with saying that I am against Direct Primaries as political parties in Nigeria are not yet ready for such exercise and because it will be more chaotic and might not deliver the result it is intended to. Well, that’s my opinion, what’s yours? Lalasticlala Mynd44

Six30:Touch your chest and say, “All iz Well!” This, too, shall pass. |
JaroMan:Every calculative and reasonable political watcher knows that Direct Primaries is Tinubu’s brainchild. Personally I never knew there was anything like Direct Primaries until Oshiomole became APC chairman and we all know Oshiomole was taking orders from Bourdilon. Most naive political watchers think Direct Primaries will benefit the masses but it’s all lies. Take Lagos Direct Primaries of 2019 for example. A lot of fictitious results was manufactured to the extent the Party Electoral managers from Abuja rejected the primary election only for Oshiomole to arm twist them into accepting the aberration. In the end Sanwolu won the primaries with over 900,000 votes but struggled with about 700,000 votes in the general election. One is now tempted to ask if APC as a party had more registered voters than the INEC registered voters. Same thing happened in Anambra. Party members didn’t see a single voting point only for 200,000 votes to be manufactured for Andy Uba from nowhere. How is that now better than Indirect Primaries? |
Lol! The funny thing is that we will not be surprised when APC finally implodes. The surprise would actually be APC failing to implode which is unlikely. Too many strange fellows in APC with parallel interests. |
PandoraObi:While you are worshiping Adeboye, Oyedepo and co ![]() |
PandoraObi:It confirms that Roman Catholic is powerful enough to feature in CIA statistics. No one gives a fvcck about your Redeem, Winners or whatever nomenclature your own mushroom church goes by. |
BigSarah:I wanted to argue it. But I remembered that majority of northerners are Muslims plus Yoruba Muslims. I think the estimates are arguably correct. What I like especially is that it separated Hausa from Fulani and recognized that Fulani are just 6% of our population. It is therefore an aberration, a taboo and misnomer that the entire 94% aboriginal people of Nigeria will held ransom by 6% of marauders from Futa Jalon. But most painful is that they find their greatest support base in brain-dead online idiotic urchins who can’t think on their own. |
PandoraObi:Same way Tinubu will lose. |
PandoraObi:The two biggest threat to Tinubu’s ambition are Osinbajo and Fayemi. Are they Igbos?
|
My own na make Tinubu and his urchins no go drink rat poison like one of their ancestors when BAT refuses to fly in 2023.
|
PandoraObi:Your Tinubu is now like a leper, any one who identifies with him is segregated. Where are those you said are supporting him? |
Lol! Tinubu online urchins need to explain to us why the generality of the Nigerian people always come for head any of anybody that identifies with either Buhari, Osinbajo or Tinubu. First, it was the Comedians that uselessly went to meet Osinbajo. Those ones were almost canceled until they had to apologize. Now, Nigerians are calling for the heads of Mr Ibu, HarryB and Foluke Daramola because of their ill-advised attendance of a meeting that had to do with Tinubu. Zombies how far? Is it this same Nigerians that you are saying will vote Tinubu abi it’s the ones from the moon? The elites are not supporting Tinubu. The masses are not supporting Tinubu. Only hungry retarded idiots who can’t survive without the crumbs from Tinubu’s table that will online exposing the hollowness of their brain to the world.

This commendable! But Nigerians, make I tell una, no go follow police drag anything because you saw this o. If you tell them, them no gree, jejely cooperate make one bullet no go fall you troway. But las las, stand up to your right. Hope I’m not confused sha ![]()

seunmsg:After Tinubu used abracadabra Direct Primaries to chase Ambode out in 2019, he wants to repeat the same template for 2023 presidential primaries of the APC. All he will do is to pay some hungry idiots in every state to manufacture numbers and you could be surprised to see Tinubu winning APC ticket with about 23 million votes. Ask yourself why Gbajabiamila, one of Tinubu’s lapdogs, is the greatest proponent of Direct Primaries? But I can bet my early morning poo that Buhari will return that document to the National Assembly. |
ifytrik:Tell him they should give the job to someone else. Na big scam o. Don’t say you weren’t told. Even Shell, Chevron, Agip, etc, don’t pay that much. And even they do they will ask u to pay one naira. You qualify through merit. Use ur head before it’s used. |
Who knows if Obasanjo had done 3 tenures we would have avoided this Buhari disaster? Maybe it was God trying to save Nigeria but we as humans can’t see the future. |
backbencher:But I do hope you see things from my perspective and realize that voting for those people is just wasting of vote. Kingsley Moghalu is great, agreed, but he won’t make headway in a mushroom party. So stop throwing away ur vote. |
vikgreen01:Forgive my poor knowledge of the technical terminologies for these things. Not a military personnel you know. But I really wanted to serve in any security parastatal sha! |
vikgreen01:Wetin concern recruit with NDA? |
vikgreen01:I have issues with NYSC and as such the only option I had was to apply as a regular combatant. Would you still have wished I joined? |
