Why did the 33 senators from the 11 PDP states in this court case, not have the courage to vote against the SOE action on the floor of the Senate? Why did the representatives from the 11 states not vote against the action?
Only God knows what happens at the Senate Executive session that makes them capitulate every time they enter there.

The opposition lawmakers have the numbers to have given Tinubu tough time but they surprisingly turned to oh yes members.

I thought when the court delivered the judgement and many obedience thought it favour Mr Obi they were not happy about it because they believe it's a deliberate judgement from the presidency so that Mr Obi will not be able to go into coalition with Alhaji Atiku, what has now changed.
Those are shallow minds!

No Obidient is not happy about the Supreme Court judgment.

We want the party in full control of Obi. He can then decide what to do next.

Good one!

Shebi una think say Peter Obi no get gra gra?

Una think say him dey vawulent…

You don’t know the man has just been waiting until he’s on the right side of law.

Good thing INEC was part of the Supreme Court suit. So, they will not say they are not aware of the judgment.

So, INEC should respect themselves and remove Abure and his criminals’ name from their database and replace everything with Nenadi Usman.

Once we cement on the leadership of the party, we can now start negotiating coalition properly.

Peter Obi is coming, guys!

Can the Supreme Court show courage and salvage herself or would they dismiss the suit on preliminary objections as they did under Obasanjo?

FG lawyers could argue that the governors are meddlesome interlopers as none of their states was affected by a State of Emergency declaration.

We will be watching.

How?
PoliticsWould Peter Obi Have Succeeded More With APGA? by Penguin2(op): 11:55am On Apr 09, 2025
I saw a 2015 article that was pushed to front page. A 2015 article; that’s 10 years after. The article was wishing Peter Obi had the ‘wisdom’ of Tinubu so he could grow APGA to become a regional dominant party in the Southeast and then use that as leverage to negotiate for power at the center.

The writer was obviously reacting to Peter Obi’s defection to PDP. He wished Peter Obi had remained in APGA to build and grow it.

But there are things the person that pushed that article to front page forgot to take into account.

First, the writer of the article said Obi would have been the next leader of Ndigbo if he remained in APGA; and I dare to ask, is there a anybody in the entire Igboland bigger than Peter Obi, politically, today? You may not like the man or what he represents, but believe it or not, Peter Obi is the political leader of Ndigbo in the Nigeria of today. Now, that renders invalid, one of the points raised by the writer of the 2015 article.

Again, the writer claimed maybe Peter Obi was never destined to play at the bigger pedestal but remain a regional champion. But whoever pushed the article to front page in 2025 forgot that the same Peter Obi was PDP’s Vice Presidential candidate in 2019 where they came second, and was Labour Party’s Presidential candidate in 2023 where he came 3rd with over 6million votes. The highest feat achieved by an Igbo man since Nnamdi Azikiwe. Now, tell me, would Obi have achieved that with APGA?

Lastly, everyone knows how APGA is tagged as an Igbo/Ojukwu party. Imagine the level of bigotry that Obi running under Labour Party elicited. Remember how Obidients were tagged IPOBs? Now imagine what it would have been had Obi ran under APGA.

In his last National interview, Atiku revealed that his first and second choice of vice presidential candidates in 2019 were Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Charles Soludo but because they weren’t members of PDP, the lot fell on Peter Obi. And every sensible political observer would agree that that was what launched Obi into the limelight of national politics. Would he have gotten that in APGA?

Today, Peter Obi is the National Leader of Labour Party. He has a sitting governor, 6 senators, over 30 House of Rep Members and numerous House of Assembly Members that call him leader across Nigeria but yet someone is pushing a 2015 article that says Obi would have done better being in APGA.

So, I put the question to you, do you think Peter Obi’s political capital would have fared better than it has if he remained in APGA?

The appeal is sustained doesn’t mean all the reliefs sought were granted. The Supreme Court simply set aside all previous judgement in the case for lack of jurisdiction. The court then made it clear they won’t announce any one as the authentic chairman as that is the internal affairs of the party. It is now left for members of the party to come together and chart a way forward for the party.

Trying to exclude Abure, the last known Chairman of the party from any pathway to solution is simply an attempt to prolong the crisis. In fact, he should be the one to call for the NEC meeting of the party and not a Peter Obi that has never held a position known to law in the party.
Have you listened to the audio attached up there?

While they did not specifically mention the name of Nenadi Usman as the new authentic National Chairperson of LP, they sustained the Appeal filed by her and members of her Caretaker Committee. What does that mean by implication?

And by saying members of LP should sit and chart a new course for the party, who are the members? Isn’t that the responsibility of the NEC of Labour Party? Now, who constitutes members of NEC of any political party?

And why would Abure be the one to call for NEC meeting? On what capacity? On what grounds?

Find, verbatim, the Supreme Court judgment below.

Pay attention to the bolded where the Supreme Court said specifically that the judgments recognizing Julius Abure as Chairman of Labour Party are set aside.

*Labour Party (LP) moves to douse controversy, releases verbatim report of Supreme Court’s ruling on party’s leadership crisis*

Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman, Labour Party National Caretake Committee
In an effort to douse the creeping controversy over the correct interpretation of the ruling, The Labour Party (LP) has released a verbatim report of the Supreme Court’s ruling in the appeal filed by the Senator Nenadi Usman’s-led National Caretaker Committee against the ruling of the Appeal Court on the party’s lingering national leadership crisis.

*The report released by the LP is as follows*:

“A panel of five Justices of the Supreme Court—Honourable Justices John Inyang Okoro, Helen Morenikeji, Ogu C. C. Onwumiju, Tijjani Abubakar, Haruna Simon Tsammani, and Mohammed Baba Idris—sat to hear the appeal. The lead judgment was delivered by Honourable Justice John Inyang Okoro, JSC, and read on his behalf.

“The appeal was filed against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, in Appeal No. CA/ABJ/CV/2017/2024, which had earlier affirmed the decision of the Federal High Court in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1271/2024, commenced by the first respondent. The trial court had struck out the suit for want of jurisdiction.

“The facts that led to this appeal were comprehensively addressed in the body of the judgment.

“After reviewing the arguments of counsel, the Supreme Court unanimously held as follows:

“The lower court, having found that Relief No. 5 sought by the first respondent—which was predicated on the leadership tussle within the first respondent—was non-justiciable, erred by proceeding further into a matter beyond its jurisdiction, even going so far as to pronounce Barrister Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the first respondent.

“Their Lordships held that the lower court was wrong to have done so. As expressed in the legal maxim: “You cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand.” Thus, the trial court’s decision had no legal foundation and deserved to be struck out.

“In reiterating the tripod of the law, the Court emphasized that where a court lacks jurisdiction to entertain the main claim in an action, it equally lacks jurisdiction to entertain any auxiliary or ancillary claims—especially when such auxiliary claims are directly tied to the substantive claim, as was the case here (see: Government of Gongola State).

“Accordingly, the three issues submitted for determination were jointly resolved in favour of the appellants.

“In summary:

“Both the Trial Court and the Court of Appeal lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit instituted by the first respondent.

“The relief in question—Relief No. 5—appeared to have been inserted as an appendage and lacked legal merit.

“Consequently, the decisions of both courts recognizing Barrister Julius Abure as National Chairman of the first respondent are hereby set aside.

“The suit, FHC/ABJ/CS/1271/2024, is accordingly struck out for want of jurisdiction.

“Similarly, the first respondent’s cross-appeal in Appeal No. SC/CV/56A/2025, being a derivative of the same judgment of the lower court, is hereby dismissed.”

The Labour Party quoted the Supreme Court as admonishing political parties and their members to respect and adhere to their constitutions, rules, regulations, and guidelines in the selection of their officers and candidates, as doing so would reduce the incessant interference of internal party matters in the courts.

“Where a party’s constitution provides for a tenure, political officers should honourably step down at its expiration,” the Supreme Court Justices were also quoted as holding.

“Final Analysis: The appeal is found to be meritorious and is accordingly allowed. Each party shall bear its own costs,” the Supreme Court justices unanimously ruled.
