Igbos love for Odimegwu Ojukwu


Every Igbo man or woman loves Ojukwu not just because he was the leader of Biafra in the 1960s, but because Ojukwu demonstrated high level of discipline in his leadership right from when he was a junior army officer which made him earn that massive followership and support from Igbos.


Ojukwu hated injustice, Ojukwu wanted total liberation of blacks from the claws of the white colonialists. As a child born into one of the richest black families then, he saw firsthand the greed and wickedness of the whites against blacks. He lived and dined with rich white people from birth and saw their true color which made him challenge a white school headmaster that slapped a Nigerian school girl when Ojukwu was still in secondary school.



Even when Nzeogwu and co carried out the infamous 1966 coup, Ojukwu was completely against it. Ojukwu was enraged and worked to foil that coup and never liked Nzeogwu even after the war broke out which made Nzeogwu to always fought his Biafran battle as an independent force with his own squad he usually went on a reconnaissance hit with. Ojukwu also gave standing order to his guards never to allow Nzeogwu near him because he never trusted Nzeogwu that much due to the role Nzeogwu played in the 1966 January coup.



It is worthy of note to note that Ojukwu never declared war against Nigeria like many were made to believe. What actually caused the civil war was the 1966 Northern pogrom against civilian Igbos living in the North which Gowon refused or couldn't stop even after Ojukwu wrote him severally pleading for a solution as hundreds of igbos were returned back to the east from North as dead corpses when there was no war happening.


Ojukwu being the Military Governor of Eastern Nigeria took it upon himself to defend Easterners from Northern aggression that Gowon's federal government refused to stop just as Buhari's government is doing today about Fulani herdsmen terrorists, kidnappers and bandits killing Nigerians all over.


Ojukwu even took Nigerian government to West African court seeking for solution and after an agreement was reached in Aburi Ghana to end the crises and implement certain policies to bring peace, Gowon returned back to Nigeria and rejected all that he agreed and Ojukwu carried out a wide consultation among Eastern Nigerians via townhall meetings and they agreed to secede and that was how Ojukwu declared Eastern Nigeria an independent nation of its own called Biafra. This led to Gowon declaring a Police action to forcefully bring back Eastern Nigeria back to Nigeria after British government back Gowon to use force to return Biafra back to Nigeria and the war broke out, first shots were fired.



What point do I have here?


Igbos massively supported Ojukwu because of his high level of leadership discipline and integrity, and support for justice. Nnamdi Azikiwe didn't and wouldn't have enjoyed such massive support.

Ojukwu wanted liberation but waged war against the Niger Deltans when they wanted to secede? Him under Ironsi captured the leader of the secession and sentenced him to death for treason.
Is that the person that wanted people to be liberated?

I know you'll justify Ojukwu and Ironsi's acts by saying that it was the Fulanis that used Adako Boro. But history has it that the Igbos were the first people in Nigeria to stop the secession 3 times.
First in 1953, when Zik persuaded the North not to secede. 2nd in 1954 when Zik opposed Awolowo's secession clause. And 3rd in 1966 when Ojukwu and Ironsi waged war against secessionists

And when did the Igbos castigate Peter Obi? Peter Obi is involved in corruption. He failed to declare his asset as required by law before holding a public office. He's involved in the Pandora issue..

Before you Igbos absolve him of blame, if it was Tinubu that didn't declare his asset or was involved in the exact Pandora issue Peter Obi is in, would you not castigate Tinubu for what you're justifying Peter Obi for?

The only way for corruption to stop is for the head of such service to be sacked asap and replace with the next available person. If as a head, you know you'll be sacked and will stop receiving salaries the moment corruption is noticed in your agency, you'll be forced to fight it yourself even if you're not directly involved

Three times, the Igbos stopped a group from seceding.

In 1953, Azikiwe stopped Northern Nigeria from seceding. Although it was more of a persuasion than outright stopping them. So who then was using the Fulanis?

In 1966, Aguiyi and Ojukwu stopped the Niger Deltans from seceding.


Other great Nigeria politicians were around in 1953, but none tried to stop the Northerners from forming their own country except the Igbos (Zik). Same in 1954.

OK let us skip this Boro part first. Why did an Igbo man (Azikiwe) frustrated the clause for secession of any part of the country? Was it also the Fulanis that sponsored the Awolowo too??

Nnamdi Azikiwe made it a treasonable offense for any part of Nigeria to secede. That was why Aguiyi Ironsi sentenced Adaka Boro for seceding.

If and only if Aguiyi Ironsi and Ojukwu had allowed Niger Delta to secede, maybe Adaka Boro and the Niger Deltan would have supported Biafra seccession.

If and only if Nnamdi Azikiwe had supported Awolowo seccesion clause in the constitution, then maybe Biafra's seccesion would not have been treason.

I saw a post saying this year would be the coldest as the Earth will be farthest from the sun. If this is true, it means Putin deliberately picked year 2022 to fight a war in cold Europe where gas will be needed the most to heat European houses.

Tinubu's Lagos doesn't owe a dime to any worker

That was how the owner of one game shop was arguing that Anambra's GDP was higher than Lagos State's GDP when Peter Obi was Governor.
