TippyTop:
70% of Nigeria's foreign earnings comes from the Niger Delta, 70%.
Government should sit down and talk to the militants, they have the capability to cripple the Nigerian economy.
the UK is only concerned about their investment in the oil industry.
The FG has no business with any militant group. The only party that the president needs to dialogue with are Niger Delta people.
No one is going to give another round of amnesty to anyone in the name of the struggle. What gain has the last amnesty brought? More militancy, more pipeline destruction, more denial, more woes to the economy.
A review of the derivation formula which will directly favour the host community, quick passage of the the PIB bill and the restructuring of investment portfolio of OMLs is the least buhari can give.
"No more amnesty scam". We want sincere development in the creeks.

The plain truth is that the group is a politically sponsored group. It was not put in place to spite the administration but to slow down the anti graft campaign of PMBs govt.
A lot of individuals, including the crop of politicians in this govt are not in support of the war against corruption.

PDP continues to remain the PDP that we have known for 16 years. Greed and corruption will never allow them come under that green white red umbrella.
I have never seen a party that gluts in chaos, distraught and disunity.

Even in the face of a confused APC govt, PDP cant just get their acts together.
I guess this is their trademark.

My brother, if i tell you how much lobbying he had to do to get the job, how many nights of vigil. Many of those who post nonsense on this forum sit in their comfy region and pray for chaos in other regions. The last four years has brought a lot of investments into the region. When we say we want peace and peaceful resolution to any disagreement, it is because some of us know the benefits of having a peaceful atmosphere, because that is the only way to attract investments.

With the lull in crude oil prices, a loss in capital investments will take longer to recoup. No investor wants to invest in a place where there is instability and lawlessness.

They have got no business wandering the street!!
And you actually think their activities is well crafted and hidden from the world? This is the 21st century where the entire medium of existence has been conquered including space. There is no place for vagabonds and mischief makers who put their interest first before the commitee of nations. The people of Niger Delta have spoken out loudly against the activities of this destructive group.

They serve the interest of a few and not the people at large. There are better and viable options to resolve an agitation. Violence and wanton destruction of public property can not be one of it especially at this daunting and tough times. The continuous chaos that this group of people have resolved to unleash on the masses in the creek does not bear any form of support by the people. If they remain adamant and refuse to put a stop to it, they should know that they are alone and must be ready to bear the brunt.

Tonye the fight is for oil...oil in your backyard...you think if there was no oil the coys will be there in the first place?

There's no need trying to score points. The points will take you no where.

If they relocate, the oil will still be in the ground..assets for future generation....can you compare it to the gains now?

To solve the issue of militancy, the government should take steps to solve issues in the ND. Firstly, nobody should own oil blocs...it should strictly be operating companies.
Some re-education. Individuals dont own these oil wells.
Individuals and stake holders in the oil and gas industries own the OMLs. FYI, there are OMLs in the ND that are owned by companies floated by Urhobos, Itsekiris indegenes (this i know of with inside info (no need going into details). Instead of applauding the approach of this group, we should encourage wealthy indegenes of ND to equally bid these OMLs or at least run JVs with the present owners.

With the downturn in the value of crude oil in the international market, it will be cheaper to operate joint ownerships.
Wanton destruction of properties and investments in any form should be wholly condemned. There are a thousand and better way that the issue can resolved than resulting to violence.

Is subsidy removal the same as deregulation? This govt removes subsidy but fixes the product pricing.
What economic calculator did kalichukwu use to arrive at 145 naira? I smell a grand conspiracy by the govt and the oil marketers. If you fix price that simply means you have not deregulated the sector.

The reason why these arguments keep resurfacing is because most nairalanders dont read and hardly engage in meaningful investigation and research.
Just hear-say sentimental argument. Many know very little about the oil industry and will not endeavour to do so.

Nigerian youths should re-focus their minds. Oil resources is not the bane of this country. Even if the entire regions that make up the nigerian nation discover oil, it will still not change the status quo of the economy.

The elites of this country have mortaged the soul of this country and all the youths of this country can do is engage in meaningless argument all day. I as a person know that a lot of lies get into social media as a result of incoherent and watery investigations or journalism. I know more than seven indigenous oil exploration firms that are owned by individuals from the niger delta. How much have they contributed to the niger delta or their respective states. A lot of northerners and south westerners own OML, how much have they contributed to their regions?

Nigerian youths, remove the wool from your eyes. The other tribe is not responsible for the conspiracy but the elites are.

CONGRATS TO ALL STRIKE TEAM OF THE NIGER DELTA AVENGERS.

From the high command of the Niger Delta Avengers we congratulating all strike teams of the Avengers without taking any innocent life or that of the Nigeria military we were able to shut down 50% of crude production.

We have been seeing a lot on the media about us. Some are asking, “Who are you avenging?” some calling us empty heads, ex-agitators have been condemning us on daily basis. Our criticizer from other part of the country, we don’t have any thing to tell you because you clearly don’t know how life is in the region.
To our criticizers from the region we want you to know you are all cowards and afraid to stand for your people.

To ex-agitators of the likes of Tompolo, We know why you people are after us. Our agitation is more civilize than yours the Niger Delta Avengers is more concern with people of Niger Delta unlike you (ex-agitations) that were into kidnapping, killing of Nigeria soldiers, sea pirates, vessel and tanker hijacking. But we were able to carry out all our operations without killing a fly. We have sophisticated arms far better than what you use to have during your kidnapping days.

After the amnesty Programme you (ex-agitators) has been enjoying patronize from the government and royalty from multinational oil companies. While we (Avengers) have been strategizing on how the voice of the Niger Deltans can be heard. we are fighting a radical fight without taking any life.

Lets make it clear, to you our elder brothers (ex-agitators) that we are not begging you to join this agitation. We are young, educated, well traveled and most of us were educated in east Europe but don’t worry when we achieved our goal (sovereign state of Niger Delta) then you people will be proud of us. In as much as we respect you as our elder brothers (ex-agitators) please don’t dare to stand on our way because if you do we will crash you.

To the citizens of the Niger Delta who share same idea with us we thank you all. Just know that no amount of criticism within and outside the region can stop us.
For the record the Niger Delta Avengers is enjoying the blame game going around.

To the Nigeria military the Niger Delta avengers is among you. And we know all your plans so we will always ten steps ahead of you. In our meeting comprising all heads of the strike teams, which was held in Bayelsa. The Niger Delta Avengers high Command comes to the conclusion that, if the military harass or invade any community in the region then you (Nigeria military) will get a feel of the Avengers.
If you smart or intelligent enough you will look inward not outside. We know when you are vulnerable but not take our calmness for granted.

To our brothers from Easterner Nigeria, whom have been condemning and calling us names. The simple fact you are living comfortable doesn’t mean we like you.
The Commander of Strike team 9 of the Niger Delta Avengers is from Eastern Nigeria so no body should limit this struggle to the Ijaws of the Niger Delta only. The leader of the strike team 6 that blew up chevron valve platform is Itsekiri. The Commander of our elite team strike team one is from Akwa Ibom.
So if you are calling us empty heads just know you brothers are part of Niger Delta Avengers as well. Avengers is different from former agitators who limited the struggle to just the Ijaws

To international Oil Companies, this is just the beginning and you have not seen anything yet. We will make you suffer as you have been made the people of Niger deltans suffered over the years from environmental degradation, and environment pollution.

To the President of Nigeria Buhari, we are sure you have not been to the creeks of the Niger delta before and 90% of your cabinets does not know how the region looks like. You think the Niger delta region is full of animals, who are going to frustrate your government. Your government that is not following rule of law, unlawful detention of innocent people just likes of Nnamdi Kanu. All he wanted was to let his people go. Nnamdi kanu didn’t carry any arm against this country but was incarcerated. We want you to know that’s no civilize President will behaves this way. If that is how you devised to run the country we will prefer you do that in the northern region.
When couples are tired of living together to make peace they go their separate ways. That is what Nnamdi kanu and the Niger deltans are asking.
You always say you fought for the unity of this country during the civil war. You haven’t been to the Niger delta, how can you know what the people are facing I believe your Vice will tell how the region is suffering and under developed when he visited the Forcados Terminal. That is if he ever looks out of his helicopter window.

17. Mike adenuga’s Conoil controls and operates Six (6) oil blocs and exports about 500,000 barrels of crude oil daily. These 6 oil bloc worth $500 billion Dollars.

From our analysis above, 90% oil blocs are allocated to individuals from northern Nigeria and some confused elements from the region are calling the Niger Delta Avengers names, some are calling us criminals. Our question to these groups of individuals calling us names are; where were you when all these atrocities were happening to the people of the Niger Delta? IT’S A PITY.

To owners and operators of these oil blocs in our region the Niger Delta Avengers is giving you two weeks ultimatum to shut down your operations and evacuates your staff. If at the end of the ultimatum and you still operating. We will blow up all the locations. It will be bloody. So just shut down your operations and leave.
There is rumor that oil has been discovered in the North East. How will you feel if this found oil is been managed by Niger Deltans. We are very sure the Niger deltans wont even have 2% oil bloc if oil is really found in the Northeast. If you didn’t shut down we will shut your stations permanently for you.

No agent or representative of the Avengers has called the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Group Managing Director, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to threat his life.
To all International Oil Companies, Indigenous Oil Companies and Contractors if anyone called saying there members of Avengers please not listen or take them serious because our ideology and belief is far from that.

Once again on behalf of all the commanders of the avengers strike teams we congratulate our loyal and gallant soldiers who put human life before their targets. On behalf of the Niger Delta people we said congratulation as we have cripple the Nigeria economy by 50% by the grace of God we will make it 100% if our demands are not met soon.
By October 2016 we will display our Currency, Flag, Passport, our ruling Council and our Territory to the world.

To the United Nations, we are not asking for much but to free the people of the Niger Delta from environmental pollution, slavery, and oppression. We want a country that will turn the creeks of the Niger delta to a tourism heaven, a country that will achieve its full potentials, a country that will make health care system accessible by everyone. With Niger delta still under the country Nigeria we can’t make it possible. So we are calling on the Ban Ki-Moon Secretary General United Nations and all Heads of the government of the five Permanent Security Council members to come to the aid of Niger delta people. We are calling on world leaders to come to the Niger delta to see the atrocities committed by the Nigeria government

Long Live the Niger delta Avengers.

THE STRUGGLE IS ABOUT THE ECONOMIC INJUSTICE RESULTING FROM THE UNEQUAL SHARING OF OIL WEALTH. Fellow Nigerians our country is in deep shit.

I pity the youths and the generation of twitter and Facebook, for no one will suffer it more than you, no one shall feel the pains like you, if you are in doubt let me ask you these:
1). Who forms the bulk of the unemployed people roaming the streets ?.
2). Who are the ones constantly trying their luck in going overseas, and who fill the embassies of USA and other such developed countries day in day out?.
3). Who are the fools who fight for politicians who don't give a Bleep about us?.
4). Who fill the sport bets shops hoping to make a few millions with the few change they have got in their pockets?.
5). What is the minimum age required for you to be a governor or president?.
6). Who form the bulk of the fighting force of bokoharam, Niger delta militants, ipob, and even the military?,pardon me who are the ones who also die in all this conflicts.
And to the generation currently in power you have all failed us, you inherited a country with high hopes from your predecessors and you ruined it.
Sadly I know my generation of Nigerians will merely read this and run along off to twitter and facebook to engage in useless ethnic e-battles , and at best gracing this post with likes its does not need.
p.s- pardon all grammatical blunders and errors, for I am too pissed and enraged at the situation this country is in and the manner at which not one member of my generation is taking it serious, to bother reading through it to fix the errors.
My brother, we keep shouting that the politicians are the responsible for the problem in this country, the youths would rather blame the other tribe.Be it NE, SS, SW, SE, NW, NC these politicians are the bane of our society.
Remove the politicians from the equation and all you have is a people who are happy, contended with the little they have.
Nigerian politicians are the highest paid in the world, our democracy is expensive and retrogressive. All the crises that we face in this country are the handprint of politicians.
Sharia, Militancy, Cultism, Boko Haram and all you can think of can be traced to the failure of politicians to empower the society. Instead they empower their pockets. Nigerian youths, open your eyes, dont be deceive or coarced to sabotage this country for politicians.
They care less about you but themselves and theirselves.

There are over 40 oil producing countries around the world including africa.
There are regions all over the world where oil exploration is taking place and the locals suffer ecological degredation of the environment. They seek peaceful means to arrest the situation and most times its not a rebellion but environmental activism.
I do not know of a country in the world that activists have resorted to destructive bombing of pipelines.
Stop oil exploration in the niger delta today and these guys would result to criminal means.
It is on record that majority of these guys are oil bunkerers, sea pirates etc.
These guys do not have the interest of the people of niger delta at heart. The niger delta struggle is just a meal ticket for them. This problem will linger so long as the govt refuses to attend to the root cause of this agitation.
People are not getting value for the environmental sacrifice that they pay.
Their livelihood is been threatened by oil spills as both state and federal govts are not doing enough to alleviate their sufferings. All the same, the highlighted challenges is not a justification for further destruction of oil facilities which will only lead to more suffering.
We all know amnesty was just a temporal solution. We need reconfiguration of the entire system including the economy.

Quakertellicus1:
Takeaways from this thread....

1.When Boko Haram kills soldiers, some people blame the whole North for being so violent. When Niger Delta militants do the same...some people blame the South for being so violent. Me....I think I put both Boko and ND militants in the same boat. They are just as bad as each other (Boko is probably worse).

Both groups have wrecked their home regions over the years...in the name of fighting for their ''rights'' .....to the point that it is going to take ages for the areas to be cleaned up.

No amnesty for both of them.

2.I always hear supporters of the Avengers say that they are fighting for resource control and restructuring of Nigeria. Funny thing is that is what their seniors said back in 2009....until the government gave them amnesty....then all that talk went away.

3.Since when were thugs responsible for guarding pipelines? How long are we going to pay danegeld to a group of people who are not really interested in anything but their pockets? (Google the meaning of danegeld....very enlightening).

4.If you want resource control and restructuring....go to the National Assembly. Stop all this talk about how the ''North'' would stop you. You put pressure on your NA reps...who then will make the necessary compromises/meetings with other reps....to get the necessary bills/laws passed.

5.For over ten years now...the Niger Delta has gotten far more money than other parts of the country. YET....the area is still underdeveloped....and yet people are not ready to ask why. Because it is far easier to blame the North than to look inward at corrupt leaders like Ibori and Alams.

6.Blowing up pipelines is silly. It worsens the environment, and drives away investors. And when there are no investors, there are no jobs...and the Niger Delta gets poorer. Meanwhile...oil is being discovered elsewhere in Africa. The Niger Delta is dispensable.

7. Someone here blamed Buhari for the deaths of the soldiers. Meanwhile that same person was blaming the North for the death of soldiers in BH territory during the last administration. Why not blame the Niger Delta now? We in the SS allowed this mess to happen because we did not invest in our youth, we did not spend more on education, we wasted the 13% derivation we got....and now we are reaping the fruits of neglect.

8. More money is not going to fix the Niger Delta. The region needs restructuring of people's minds. It does not need more money. Same goes for the North and everywhere else.

9.Some people still have not gotten over the last election.

10.We do not need a new amnesty/danegeld/restructuring/whatever. We need serious leadership from our governors and other local rulers in the South South.
Well said. This is the fact that a lot of bias users on this forum will not want to hear. The Niger Delta struggle has not started yet. The goal of the struggle cannot be actualised by carrying arms.
Issac Boro and Ken Saro Wiwa never took up arms but they have made more meaningful impact to the struggle than these criminals have made.
Neither Issac Adaka Boro nor Ken Saro Wiwa got a penny to bring the plight of the Niger Deltans to the world. The likes of the former militants have become overnight billionaires and the status quo has not changed.

Today, the so called militants have hijacked the struggle and money has become the means to an end. Has anyone asked why the governors and senators from the Niger Delta have not been accountable to the people in the region?

Personally, i feel there is a grand conspiracy in all of these issues. Why dont the militants ask the governors to account for what they have been doing with the billions of naira they have been recieving as oil allocation first. What has the governors and reps contributed done to address the continued degredation of the environment by oil spillages.

They (the governors and reps) should be in the fore front of this struggle not a bunch of criminal gangs who care less about the Niger Delta people.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. We are one of the most corrupt nations in the world and that is a fact.

The UK having tax havens is not justification of us being corrupt, and countries such as the UK and Dubai etc. have been putting in place processes to limit the inflow of stolen funds which is one of the aim of this summit isn't it? And besides a tax haven is not necessarily corrupt or illegal.

Lets even assume the UK is willing and happy to take stolen money, is that your justification to steal your country dryhuh Please stop making excuses, we are damn corrupt. News just came out of how we stole aid money given to us for HIV victims, we steal people's salaries and pension, we steal money which was to defend Nigerians against book haram, we steal everything. Went to Nigeria last month, every single person trying to find a way to get money out of you right from the airport. How many times have they asked you for money in HEatrow? If you say Britain is corrupt, please next time you are in the UK bribe a policeman and lets see how it ends for you.
What amazes me most is how some ordinary nigerians are quick to defend and justify corruption especially if it involves their kinsmen or beloved politician.
Just like the last president said, "stealing is not corruption". In nigeria, staeling is celeberation. Corruption thrives in nigeria not because public officers and politicians dont fear god, but because the people condone and indulge in it.

This is the reason why Nigerians must support the anti corruption drive by the Buhari government

The UK PM is a typical British person with their condescending attitude, but there is some element of truth in his statement
If only cameron pays a regular visit to nairaland. He would marvel at how much even the ordinary nigerians applaud and celebrate corruption.

Several times on this forum, i have said it that the governors are too docile and feigning helpless.
The solution to these herdsmen lie within their jurisdiction.
The attacks occur within their corridor.
Why drag the FG into an issue that doesnt have an executive root.
The governors should stop being docile.
Like the president said, any herdsmen found wanting should have his cows confiscated.
If state agencies can confiscate motorists that violate traffic laws what stops them from arresting lawless herdsmen?
Are they going to mobilize themselves and attack the government?
They should just get off their a$$ and get to work.

Justice Uwais is one of the most brilliant judges nigeria has produced. He is a quiet man and highly respected for his integrity. His judgments right from his early days on the bench as high court judge in the 1970s are a delight to read for their intellectual depth and reasoning. He writes impeccable English. I believe he did all that a responsible father would do for his son, but the boy just went astray the same way many youngsters are wasting their lives in our universities in endless cult wars.Too bad, but Justice Uwais remains a shining star in Nigeria's legal profession.
I guess the justice deserves a better son than this shameless shit. The northern elites have a lot of re-orientation do on the general populace.
They need to rid their midsts of these influencial teachers that secretly (most times openly) preach against other religion. The message of hate and cruelty is the bane of terrorism in the north. They sowed the seed centuries ago, now the seed has become fallow weed.
The same fire is consuming the middle east at present. In the ME, a soldier kills a militant he sreams "allahu Akbar (god is great)", so also a militant kills the soldier and screams "Allahu Akbar".
If god is for everybody, why then are they killing each other?
They obviously must think god takes sides.
How wrong they are.

Religion took the better part of him. Religious indoctrination is like drug addiction.
