The fulani herdsmen are stuck in the 15th century. Nobody has the effontry to confront them. The entire country is tired of their archaic and awkward practise that endanger the human existence. The moment the south rise up against their practise, a lot of other states in the north will follow suit. The question now is "who will bell the cat". |
And where is the airforce in all of these. Cant they carpet bomb the entire local govt. Very wary of such stories. |
Police and Lastma are a nuisance on lagos roads. Extorting motorists like bounty hunters. |
I thought we had a minister of FCT. Is he sleeping or what? A task force comprising the military and police should be put in place to disarm all okada riders within the abuja municipality. This buhari administration is fast approaching a kill at will status for the northerners. The greatest undoing of this administration might just be the thousands of illitrate northerners that roam the entire country |
hotwax:Thanks for this insightful writing. I wrote about this in a thread, a month ago. The underworld of global terrorism. The Angolans are still dazed and amazed how they fought three decades of bloody war only to realise the war was needless. Arm the hungry agbero on the street of lagos and see how power intoxicates the poor too. Africa, for whatever reason is a stake that must be shared by these powers that crave to rule the world. The earlier we realize this the better. 80 percent of nigerians leave close to abject poverty. We have a teeming young and vibrant youthful population that should help lift africa to el dorado. Corruption and greed has taken the better of us. Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, Militia or whatever. They are mere willful tools in the hands of these powers that be. Our leaders must rise up and realize that our society is gun powder that can be remotely detonated. |
85% of nigerian websites are already hacked |
Fulani herders activity is archaic and not in tune with 21st century practise. The solution to this problem is simple. First, fulani herdsmen should be disarmed with force. The governors in the south should come under a fora, mandate every herdsmen or cattle businessmen to register their activities in every state. The states should encourage indegenes financially, so they can start cattle ranching within their locality. No where in the western world is normadic herding encouraged. It has no place in the 21st century civilization. The governors just need to take their state's destiny into their hands. |
otitokoroleti:Some nigerians just cant reason logically. If we say the fulani herdsmen are boko haram, then the attacks that are equally occuring in other west african countries like ghana and ivory coast between farmers and herdsmen have boko haram influence. Many of us sit behind our laptops and stir up confusion for the fun of it. Fulani herdsmen from sudan have been arming themselves since early 90s. What we are seeing is the incursion by a different breed of fulani from the sahel mixed up with the tuaregs i believe. These ones are wild and confrontational. Instead of spreding false information online about what we know nothing about, lets compel the security agencies to fish out undocumented herdsmen who have no origin or linkage with nigeria. Its time we start documenting the identity of cattle grazers in nigeria, disarm them and make them live by the rules of the states or region. Instead of fanning the flame of fire, lets seek permanent solutions to these problems. |
Some individuals cant differentiate between holding an office and owning the nation. Who do we blame? |
zicoraads:Before you start calling him names, please see a bit of sense in what he said. The governors are more culpable than the president. Have you wondered why many of these governors have been silent over the issue? They are the chief security officer of their respective states, the bulk also passes through their tables. Why cant the governors under its fora call a meeting to address this issue with a uniform voice, or better still call on their senators in the house of assembly to help pass a bill that will allow the governors control the grazing activities in their respective states. By doing this, the govt will understand the enormosity of the problem. These ggovernors weild enormous power and influence. The same influence they use in clamouring and agitaing for the sharing of excess crude account. Cant they weild these power in favor of the masses in their states? Is it because many of them have high stakes in the cattle business? If the governors speak with one voice and with the backing of the masses in the states, is buhari going to rise up against the entire nigerian people? These are pertinent questions we should be asking ourselves instead of blaming the president alone. Its time we ask our governors and senators to act and quit playing hide and seek. |
EyenAkwaIbom:My brother, you will be amazed at how stupid and lazy the average nigerian mindset is. The comments before you will give a clue. If we make quality pencil that appeals to the UAE, do you think they will reject it because they have better and advanced plans than we do. All i see on nairaland these days are tonnes and tonnes of complain and condemnation with lesser and lesser meaningul contribution. I bet you a lot of nigerians did not know before now that we imported pencils from china. A minister comes in and propose that we put an end to the continous importation by encouraging investors to start manufacturing pencils locally. I guess the mnister should abandon the idea in order to suit our ingreatful ego. I keep saying it, nigerians contribute more to the problem that we face as a nation. We want to build skyscappers and 21st century rails but we dont want to manuacture our pencils. What a country we are. |
Why the hues and cries. When nigerians are ready to put an end to fulani herdsmen genocide, we will stop eating meat and subsequently ban the grazing of cows on any land. The fulanis will continue to attack because they know nigerians cant go a day without a meal served with beef/meat. Another solution is for the FG to empower the states to fully supervise the activities of fulani herdsmen within their locality. Every one of them should be registered across the regions they intend to graze their cows. The states can also help to finance cattle grazing by empowering locals and fulanis who will be willing to abide to the rules. This is the price we have to pay for this menace to go away. |
That figure is false. I doubt if nigeria is generating up to 1,000MW |
Ijaya123:It amazes me how nigerians justify a evil act with another. Both fulani herdsmen and militancy are evil acts against the progress of the nation. But should be treated as such. Nigerians are nigeria's problem |
drss1:Yes, he was a democrat to emulate. He lacked leadership quality, especially in a political terrain like ours. |
You this girl again!! |
Rivers of blood. Thought election is over. They just cant stop killing. |
Africa is trying to get rid of leaders with the "saraki trait". This is the 21st century and not the 70s where office holders are omni sacred. It is bad for our democracy. Saraki should quit and allow nigeria to move on. There are better issues that require serious attention. |
proudlysports:If only the youths would make sense out of this. They would rather take sides with these politicians who have only themselves and their family at heart. I fear for the future and not the past. |
Techsupport:IMO, if you you want hands on tutelage and of course an insight into how the industry works, Jeremy is the guy. But if you are just in for the certification, kelvin is the man. Op, nice work. |
janellemonae:We made a mess of the country after colonialism ended in the 60s. I am not afraid of the past, but the future. From the comments so far on this thread, all i see is mockery and condemnation. Yes, the damage has been done. Other countries have moved ahead while we are still struggling. We are struggling because we sat back and allowed our leaders to destroy what collectively belong to us. In the 60s, nigeria had some of the best railway system by global standard, far better than the chinese. Today, the chinese have the best ratil system in the world. Recently, the chinese president visited the US and the CCECC (chine civil engineering construction company) struck a deal with the New york railway to help them upgrade their rail system to world class standard. Who ever thought the chinese could attain this feat. It took dedication, self discipline and optimism. From the comments on this thread so far, anyone can tell that mentally and psychologically, we are still far from recovery. |
The railway system of transportation is a viable an effective means of moving human and cargo nationwide. For selfish reasons, these callous politicians ganged up for years and killed this sector while gullible and stupid nigerians watch the destruction happen for years. Some of us even go go as far as politicizing these issues. I have concluded that nigerian politicians are the greatest threat to nigeria, not IPOB, boko haram, fulani herdsmen, corruption etc Many years ago, my uncle worked in this sector. The politicians in connivance with the military tyrants ruinned this sector. Today, these politicians are still at it. So long as these railway projects will improve the well being of our economy and that of the average nigerian on the street, they will continue to obstruct the progress o this project. Nigerians, let us rise up and defend what belongs to us. Our common enemy are the politicians, not the other tribe or religion. God bless nigeria |
akorebami:The rot in the police escalated when the police commision got its own ministry. Its heirarchy feigns ignorance of the atrocities of the officers. We need a gradual mental cleansing of the force. Background check should be diligently enforced during its recruitement exercise. |
The management should be sacked if this is true. It is the height of administrative neglience. |
Achuwa1:You blame the problem of electricity blackout on religion and ethnicity. How does the two corrolate? |
ichidodo:Yes, like you dabbled into heavy marijuana consumption. |
jorghor:The foreign managers that have been overseeing the management of Guiness Nigeria have lost touch with the local economic realities. To put it in perspective, they alienated themselves for so long that the present economic uncertainties has finally exposed their managerial lapses. They just need to be creative in both resource and financial management of their operations. GN has always struggled to stabilize its business in nigeria despite its seemingly high patronage by mostly average income earners. As for the Fx, every company in nigeria is equally affected but innovation is the way out. GN needs to map out a policy that will enable it compete favourably in this clime and at this present economic predicament. |
Why dabble into politics |
amedave:Thank you for making this point clear to all. The SS/SE must rid itself of this take it by force or crook mentality. The region is blessed with human and natural resources. The bargaining chip is within our fold, but we elect criminals to represent us in the places of authority. Its time we rid ourselves of these criminal leaders. |
Fedayeen:You are right in your observations. Majority of the loans will go into development of infrastructures in the North-West axis. Despite this, i still think the SS will indirectly benefit from these projects. To also point out the truth, with the unstable business climate in the south south, no sane business man will want to invest his money in a region where wanton destruction of public and private facility is the order of the day. The challenges in the SS is multi dimensional in nature. The senators and leaders from that region are neither helping matters. Many of them are not interested in the economic development of that region, so also the people in that region dont question the integrity of their senators and governors. The last election in rivers is a valid pointer to issues being raised. It pains me to see the region being treated in that manner. The leaders need to rise up and put their people first. |
ojuolu:In the 21st century world that we live in, you are either inventing something or you are a source of raw material. Look at the list of countries with highest foreign savings. Majority are innovators; China, japan, india, hong kong, south korea etc. Many of these countries have very limited raw materials but they import the raw materials, refine, invent them into finished products for other countries to consume. America as at today is the largest economy in the world with an estimated value of $18 trillion, a debt of $13 trillion and a reserve of just $110 billion. Its economy is 50 percent service based, compared to the chine and japanese who manufacture everything the world consumes. Both have reserves worth $3.4 trillion and $1.5 trillion respectively. In all of these, where does africa with all its resources belong? A continent with huge mineral deposits, but majority of its people languishing in stone dearth poverty. Years of absorbing IMF policies, this is all we have to show for it. China/East or West, we none cares about our well being or development. All that matters to them is our resources. A rapid development of the continent is bad news both ways. But ask me to chose between the two, i will walk east, armed with a huge reminder board on my chest saying "Tread Softly". |
PMB needs guidance on how to see that nigeria maximises the benefit of this move. If the chinese are going to build our transport system with the borrowed loans, fine. To strike a balance, we must see to it that the infrastructures provided will enable our producers access the chinese market too. The ultimate goal of the chinese govt is to get as many large economies to buy into the yuan crusade and effectively compete with the west which controls 75% of the global financial institutions. This move is not and at the same time is sucidal. It all depends on our ability to put together a solid economic framework that will see our produce, whether farm or machine produce compete favourably in the global market. If the loans will be used to build rails and power projects then fine. The chinese are very focused bunch of people, so if we are dealing with them, we better do so with extra caution and vigilance. |

buari hates criticism like ebola.
Like i keep saying, let us manage our economy our own way. China did it, they are creditor to US today. UAE did it, they have become the 8th wonder of the modern world., Japan has done it and they are still doing it, why not Nigeria? Is IMF afraid of the outcome, the freedom the development after these economic wilderness? We have too many professors in this government not to have considered this option in the first place. Madam IMF should leave us alone.
