Politics › Re: Cross River Acquires 20 Innoson Motors Trucks And 200 Waste Collection Bins by persius555(m): 6:54am On Jun 16, 2016
Nairalanders should please stop branding Innoson as a "igbo car". It is a made in nigerian car. Please stop attaching any form of sentiment to this brand.
Innoson is a relatively new local brand that needs all of nigerias support for it to grow and blossom. It is the nation's pride.
For all we know, toyota, nissan, honda are japanese cars. Has the owner attached any region of japan to the brand? If we continue like this, innoson will remain a local brand which is not exactly what we want.
Innosn can conquer nigeria and go global but nigerians should first see it as a nigeria model than "igbo brand".
Even if the SE governors are yet to fully support the brand, other governors from other parts should support the brand. Its only a matter of time before other governors would follow suit.
God bless innoson
god bless nigeria

Nice One from the Anambarians. But before you start to shout Up Wilile
Take a look at this link below. The export of Anambra as a state is equivalent to what
individually owned companies export in other state.

http://www.nepc.gov.ng/images/list%20of%20performing%20exporters.pdf

No Beef pls, just getting things straight
We are getting there. As states source for loans from the FG, i just hope they will take a cue from governor willie obiano. It is time we get off this oil curse and get our hands dirty. The world is patiently waiting for nigeria to start exporting agric produce in large quantities. The opportunity out there is enormous and ever expanding. For how long do we continue to shortchange ourselves.

Nigeria will be great again. Other governors should take a cue or better still take lesson notes from Anambra.
Health › Re: The Death Camps Called Government Hospitals In Nigeria! How Ekene Lost His Dad by persius555(m): 3:11am On Jun 15, 2016
twoondei:
sorry about your loss.
A few things I'd like to point out.
LASUTH is probably one of the most efficient government hospitals around if you know your way around. probably the only teaching hospital in Nigeria where power hasn't gone off in about four years.
The very worst cases in Lagos end up in LASUTH, you were referred from ikorodu, there are 25 other general hospitals, with about a thousand private hospitals in Lagos that refer when they can no longer manage these cases.
It is unarguably the busiest too. Check data on Google.
Down to your suggestions
1. The nurses and doctors you see in that compound value lives so much but there's only so much they can do. The medical emergency has three to four nurses on every shift with at least 45 critically ill patients. They MUST write reports on whatever they do and the state of their patients on every shift so when litigation comes, like this one might head, something shows your hard work.

2. There is indeed a quality assurance unit in that hospital, there's even a "complain to me" unit that make sure you get prompt services when due. The ambulance problem should have been relayed to them. That's one of the things they help out with.
LASUTH has more than five functional ambulances and I also know some diagnostic centres bring their vans inside.
The doctor who asked for a CT from a particular place has his reasons; MECURE probably has the best machine and gives the clearest view around LASUTH.

3. on investigation of deaths in the hospital; Lagos government passed a law mandating hospitals to carry out autopsies on "coroner's cases". Simply put, anyone who's cause of death hasn't been medically established before death should be autopsied, this also includes any patient who dies within 24hours of admission in LASUTH. I know this rule is still in place but again, people get waivers from all sorts of places fir religious reasons and this has been a major cog in the wheels of this rule.
Deaths are discussed at departmental levels every week and doctors are scolded when found culpable. You can ask any LASUTH doctor you know.

4. A lot of policies should indeed be reviewed. More professionals need to be employed, a good number of times, doctors and nurses have collapsed on duty. Theres presently a restriction on employment at most levels of government now, so you see a doctor do a 36hr shift twice a week. Meanwhile, he has family members at home.

5. Monitoring has been addressed.

6. Interdepartmental collaboration does exist but the communication channels are not as effective. You have to drop a consult, or call the registrar over the phone who probably is in the theatre or attending to another surgical patient. There's no one assigned to see consults in particular.

7. Oversight functions: I also know that there's a health facility monitoring agency in Lagos and I know the chairman house committee on health, Hon. Olulade visits LASUTH from time to time without prior notification.

Overall, the goal is to make things work in Lagos.
Again, sorry about your loss. May God give you the fortitude to bear the loss.

And yes, I support your cause. #valuenigerians
It is appauling to know that a state with over 20 milion people has less than four teaching hospital. These are ones we call standard specialist hospitals even when we know the services rendered are not close to okay. Any service that that requires a long chain of department inputs in nigeria hardly fully functions because we are simply bad managers at anything we do. Another sad story. RIP to the dead.
Politics › Re: Food Production: Nigerians Are Not Industrious! by persius555(m): 5:14pm On Jun 14, 2016
I just came out of an agricultural conference. Believe me, there are too many bottleneck and red flags in our sector that stifles agricultural investments. To start, take a look at the agricultural policy of these countries and compare to ours and you would realise quickly why we cant have a viable agricultural sector. I am not sure if these policies are there by intent or the policy makers are ignorant of what the challenges are.

God save this country!!!

PassingShot:
Take time to read the report again and see the parameters used in sharing the money.

Again, we must re-orientate ourselves to the fact that there is much more to Nigeria than the oyel.

The importance of what the North contributes to our survival as a nation cannot be over-emphasized. Just by experiencing tomato ebola in the north in just one season, the whole of Nigeria has been suffering to get tomatoes at cheap/reasonable price. Can we imagine what will happen if all the farm produce that comes from there stop coming to the south? We will import? With which money and at what cost?

The earlier we realized that each region has its own relevance, the better for us as a nation to move forward.
Well said. If only nigerians will stop hating and see how we all depend on each other for survival. Its a good thing lagos realised this earlier that it has invested billions of naira in rice production from kebbi state. Few years from now, both states will be selling rice to parts of the country thereby increasing their IGR.
That is the way to go. It is time we start getting busy and stop lazying around a mono economy driven by oil alone.

Somebody should please remind muslims that they cant fight a war on god's behalf.
God does not need any religion in order to bring about human sanity.
Any fight in the name of god is a personal fight and not of god. Fighting for god is like telling him he is incompetent.

This is why we continue to have societal discordance. Everyone thinks he knows whats best for the other when he cant put his own house in order.
Politics › Re: What Exactly Is The Reason Behind The Power Failures In The Country For Decades? by persius555(m): 5:21pm On Jun 12, 2016
If the power sector works, most of the billionaires you know will turn paupers in a year or two. Many of them can hardly come up with viable alternatives to generate wealth.
The banks borrow importers of rice, fuel, flour 80% of their capital.
That is where their profit comes from. The same reason why the rails have not been working for decades.
A lot of individuals are profiting from the suffering of the nigerians.

Politics › Re: Militants Divided Over NDA, Bombing Of Public Facilities & Negotiations. by persius555(m): 6:59am On Jun 12, 2016
It is easier to destroy than to build. I hope the NDA would make some financial contribtions to rebuild the facilities after they make do their threat.
If you go ahead and blow up bridges and telcom facilities, it is the masses in the region that suffer. Only terrorists like BH are known to take this path. If you follow suit, what makes you different from boko haram.
Dont expect the masses in the region to clap for you cause you wont get any.
There is social injustice in the region but you dont have to make it any more difficult for you to make a point.

Relocating the children for a while might not be a bad idea afterall. Maybe their exposure to a bit of the societal values might just serve to correct their view on the short run.

This is exactly the mentality that has held the youths of this country hostage for long. Yes, the country is inhospitable at the moment but there are far worst than ours. Positivity is what builds a country. The youths cannot continue to complain and expect heaven to come to the rescue. The future is in your hands and not in your complaints. Lets show some optimism for once. You are a youth today but tomorrow you will grow old. Make the best of your youth today and quit complaining.

When a country refuses to invest in its local technology, this is what you get.
For as long as we continue to rely on importation and refuse to be ingenious, we will continue to have a near system collapse. Is it not pathetic that we would have to wait for a dangote's refinery before we have respite. Nigeria has been subject to serious energy crisis for long and the govts can only fold its hands and give excuses and empty promises.
God save the masses.
Politics › Re: Foreign Refineries To Stop Buying Nigeria’s Crude Oil Due To NDA Attacks by persius555(m): 10:36am On Jun 09, 2016
My own definition of true federalism in a corrupt and pilfering state of nigeria is "giving the governors license to loot at will".
True federalism will not solve the problems that plague nigeria. Our society is too corrupt to think a single wave of "true federalism" magic wand will solve the social injustice.
Give 50% of the resources found within the states to the governors and see as election will become more bloodier. The creeks of the niger delta will remain underdeveloped. The problem simply goes beyond true federalism. In fact, true federalism will most likely benefit a few states, most probably not the resource producing states. We need a hollistic solution to our national problems. If true federalism will open our eyes to more opportunities that abound then lets give it a try. We need a total restructuring of our system, administratively and resource-wise.

This govt should not play politics with a delicate environmental issue like this.
