PoliticsRe: Oteh To Be Redeployed To Sovereign Wealth Fund by Peterwins(m): 5:58pm On Dec 24, 2012
Reference: Na wah oh. Is it government appointees that challenge elected Assembly men or the other way round. When they are summoned it usually means something has gone awry.

You should understand how democracies work. The NA is the policeman of democracy. They may be wrong, they may be corrupt but when you are invited for questioning the worst you can do is play dumb. But to go there and attack, haba. Which democracy do you find that.
When the people in authority play dumb the bombs go off. Take boko-haram as a case study.
PoliticsRe: Oteh To Be Redeployed To Sovereign Wealth Fund by Peterwins(m): 5:53pm On Dec 24, 2012
With the current CBN governor's untamed tongue on several issues, one would have expected them (national assembly) to shut down the CBN. Hembe's case with Oteh gives a microscopic view on the ulterior motives of these members using over-sight functions as a cover for their nefarious nature.
PoliticsRe: Oteh To Be Redeployed To Sovereign Wealth Fund by Peterwins(m): 5:38pm On Dec 24, 2012
I can vividly recall that Obasanjo staunchly defended mallam Nasir El-rufai ( former FCT minister) when the latter called the senators/national assembly members "fools" and exposed former senator Mantu for demanding a bribe of N50million. They (senators) called for El-rufai's head on a plate but could not have their way because OBJ unwaveringly backed El-rufai.

GEJ should not allow the National assembly to cower him concerning Oteh. She may not have approached certain issues with the house of rep. members diplomatically but that should not be a reason for them to ask for her resignation. She should be allowed to finish her tenure whether she has the mandated 15years experience or not.

We really need competent and fearless people to lead this nation to greater heights. Does this mean that any one who confronts the national assembly members will be asked to resign even if the allegation against them (individually or collectively) is substantiated with evidence.

Other heads of MDA's may not be able to justly challenge the national assembly members if the President gives in to their cheap blackmail.
PoliticsRe: FG Uncovers Boko-Haram Plot To Attack 10 States by Peterwins(m): 9:34am On Dec 24, 2012
This problem may continue to persist until the sponsors (especially the local/Nigerian sponsors) are eliminated.
The boko-haram menace is now a hydra-headed problem because we now have - political boko-haram, religious boko-haram, criminal boko-haram, etc all jostling to make an impact to ensure continuous funding from their local and international sponsors.

The FG should continue to tackle the problem from all fronts. I pity the President, its a difficult time to be president.

donroxy: Peeps,

There is nothing like ;
Q:Mr president what is happening in Education sector

A; A committee has been set upon that
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The work of PTF and CTT is to Investigate matters/issue or Undertake a particular policy/programme on behalf of the President and give Him a recommendation or a way forward as they (PTF and CTT) deem it fit....

PTF /CTT is not actually taking over the duty of MDAs .........

An issue ma Arise which may Affect say seven(7) MDAs.........e.g Police,SSS,NEMA,Finance,Population,Statistics,DPPR et al

The committe shall comprises of each member of these MDAs and work together harmoniously to achieve the target of Mr. President!!!!
The fact is that a lot can be achieved without these PTF. I raised the question as a result of the PTF on Pension that have not been able to account for N195billion. So many other irrelevant PTF exist that have become a conduit pipe for waste of scare public funds.
PoliticsRe: Must There Be A Presidential Task- Force For Everything? by Peterwins(op): 9:27am On Dec 22, 2012
Mustay: This was something a lot of tweeps wanted an answer to during the last media chat but I don't know, the presenters never asked him. I've lost count of the committees! At the same media chat, GEJ was asked a question about education and he mentioned setting up a committee to look into the education sector. Dunno what Prof. Rufai must have been thinking.

We must not forget the PTF that looked into our football affairs after SA 2010 - they recommended something, the president went for one thing then he came back to another thing according to him, "after much pressure from Nigerians". I don't know if they've been dissolved yet.

Similarly, when the Super Eagles trained at the Abuja stadium some months ago, the president was not pleased with the terrible state of the stadium. He was actually there on that visit with the Sports' Minister and to my 'amazement', I watched GEJ saying he'll set up a committee to look into why the stadium was in that state. Since this event, I've got no more evidence than to agree with the point of INDECISIVENESS.
With the use of various PTF, the recurrent expenditure keeps getting bloated. We don't need PTF to move this country forward. For example, NAFDAC under Dora Akunyili wasn't a PTF to perform its duties.

What the President need to do is to find fearless and capable people to head various MDA's. Though I don't like the current CBN governor, he is fearless. The former madam at FIRS was competent. What we need from the President is to select and appoint a winning team to head various MDA's.

slovenia: A month into d wedding we had sex like 2 tyms weekly but since then no show. My hubby has also moved out of d bedroom and sleeps in d guest room. Pls honest advice as I am afraid of my future wit him.
Pending your response to my question above. Do not be afraid of your future with him. You must realise that newly married couples often go through various forms of frictions in the early stage of their marriage. It's just a phase. Be happy and relax. Some men actually become irritable after being newly married. Be patient with him.
FamilyRe: family matas by Peterwins(m):
Is your husband someone else or the same man you described in an earlier topic/post below:

thanks all for the advice.
i relocated to be closer to him because when i had a job he kept pleading with me to transfer to be closer to him so that we could get married, so i felt that since i didnt have any restriction anymore i should make the sacrifice. i relocated and rented my apartment with my money and furnished it myself. i dont beg him for money. he earns over 300k monthly but the highest amount he has ever given me is 20k. i take pride in achieving for myself
i didnt know that love is tied to a 9 to 5 job. so im wondering if i had a 9 to 5 job and we got married and i lost the job then will d marriage be on hold till i get another one?
well i think its beta for me to leave him now and focus on my business.
maybe i will find a man who will love me job or not.

donroxy: There is difference between ''Decision'' and ''Informed Decision'' PTF is necessary.....

Good Governance is beyond Rocket Science.....!!!!

The day u become president, u will see the reason for PTF and committe!!!
The day I become president. I will De-mystify good governance. It was done in Brazil, South Korea, Singapore, Venezuela, etc.
Perhaps Lagos State, Edo State, Akwa-Ibom State and some other few States in Nigeria where the people are enjoying some benefits of good governance needed PTF.

Mr President please kindly disband all the various Presidential Task-Force now and strengthen our MDA's.
PoliticsRe: Must There Be A Presidential Task- Force For Everything? by Peterwins(op): 1:58pm On Dec 21, 2012
donroxy: Yes,

There must be Presidential Task Force for whatever the President as the C-in-C wanted to have full grasp of who, what and whom an event occured!!!..........

Presidential Task Force only operate 4 a specified period of time ..... 2weeks,3weeks,1 month,3month and they shall be disbanded........ After the submission of such task force report!!!!!!

Presidential Taskforce is important for the president to make informed decision!!!!
We have some Presidential Task-Force (PTF) that have been operating over 2 years. Also the President does not require a PTF to make informed decision. Good governance is not rocket science.

mitwitdot: Using task force reduces bureaucracy and improves expediency. Civil service is the home of corruption hence, A taskforce is needed for efficiency.
Really? Like the Presidential Task-Force on Pension that have not been able to account for N195billion.
PoliticsRe: Must There Be A Presidential Task- Force For Everything? by Peterwins(op): 10:54pm On Dec 20, 2012
alabiyemmy: You mean the MDAs should probe themselves?
A Presidential Task-force is not a probe panel. I even got to know that we have a Presidential Task-Force on water!!!! What a waste of scare resources. Yet we have a Ministry of water resources.

What is the use of a Presidential Task-Force on Port De-congestion, when we have the Nigeria Port Authority and other relevant agencies.

Perhaps we should also have a Presidential Task-Force on anti-corruption so that the EFCC and ICPC will now take a back seat.
PoliticsRe: Pension:we Leave Maina to God- Senate Panelists by Peterwins(m): 10:52pm On Dec 19, 2012
"......we leave him to GOD".

How can they adjourn the sitting indefinitely and leave him to GOD. Are these senators serious? Perhaps the guy must have "settled" them. N195billion is not to be left unaccounted for. It is more than the budget for some states in Nigeria.

The President of this country is really taking a lot of things for granted. I hope he does not become a spectator in his own government. I pray for him.
PoliticsMust There Be A Presidential Task- Force For Everything? by Peterwins(op): 9:54pm On Dec 19, 2012
I am a bit concerned with the use of various "Presidential Task-force" in this present administration. The news media is inundated with "Presidential Task-force on pension", "Presidential Task-force on power", "Presidential Task-force on Port De-congestion", etc.

I think the President should disband all these plethora of Presidential Task-Force. The various ministries, departments and other agencies of government should be strengthen to perform their duties.

What is the use of a Presidential task-force on pension when PENCON exists?
PoliticsRe: Power Generation Peaks At 4,350MW by Peterwins(m): 9:02pm On Dec 19, 2012
I wish there could be a new and cost effective technology that could change the power sector dynamics in this country. Nigerians have really suffered from epileptic electricity supply.

Solar power technology seems to be the way out for individuals but the one-off acquisition cost is not pocket friendly for the majority in Nigeria. You may spend an average of about N120,000 to purchase the solar panel, batteries and inverter to power simple household appliances.

CNG (compressed natural gas) is another alternative but.......

24 hour electricity supply shouldn't be a big deal for a country blessed with so much energy resources.
PoliticsRe: Power Generation Peaks At 4,350MW by Peterwins(m): 8:05pm On Dec 19, 2012
Recently, I listened to a "professional" in the power/energy sector on radio who said that our current transmission infrastructure cannot transmit/evacuate more than 4000MW. So no matter what we generate without adequate transmission capability the excess MW above 4000MW becomes a waste.

He even mentioned that transco calls them sometimes to reduce the amount of MW generated at a particular power plant he once worked as a result of inadequate transmission capability.

Hence, increase in power generation without corresponding transmission and distribution capacity will not make a significant improvement to most public power consumers.

I currently reside in an area with less than 35% of steady public power supply. Those enjoying improvement in steady public power supply must really be having a good time.
FamilyRe: I Am Craving For A Passionate Marital Relationship by Peterwins(m): 9:33pm On Dec 18, 2012
Don't be tempted.....

Your current marital challenges could be as a result of any of the following factors:

1. Money matters - some men become automatically unromantic when they have financial difficulties.

2. Lack of common interest - I have experienced a case where the English Premiership restored a difficult marriage!!! How? The wife simply took a deep interest in the Premiership. Husband runs home to watch football matches with wife. A man that hitherto watches football matches in various hang-outs. Try and get to know what your husband is passionate about and be involved, it might break the jinx.

3. Take a break or slow down on social media. You may unknowingly be paying more attention to social media instead of your husband. Be wise with the use of social media.

4.Pay more attention to yourself ( this may be a bit tricky). Give yourself a treat.

5. Continue to be humble (not stupid) even though he upsets you without remorse.

6. Don't be too religious but have a deeper relationship with GOD to meet your spiritual needs. There are a lot of good christian materials both in print and electronic media that will suit your need.

7. Continue to inform him about his emotional responsibilities towards you but do not nag.
PoliticsRe: Kidnappers Of Okonjo-iweala's Mother Demand $1Billion Ransom by Peterwins(m): 12:03am On Dec 11, 2012
I believe and pray that this matter will be quickly resolved. There are some people in this country you cannot kidnap for long without feeling the heat. The kidnappers have been paid to carry out this act by some disgruntled persons just to prove a point to the minister. They will set her free.....

Former CBN governor, Charles Soludo's father was also kidnapped and set free.

With full cooperation of all the telecom companies in Nigeria, the kidnappers can be quickly tracked and narrowed to the smallest radius. They will have no rest and no hiding place until they release Okonjo-Iweala's mother. I pray for her safety. It is well with you ma wherever you are right now.
PoliticsRe: Abdulsalami - The North Will Recover In 20 Years by Peterwins(m): 4:04pm On Dec 07, 2012
Why should it take 20 years?

The North should simply tap into their vast mineral resources (Zamfara has gold), reduce illiteracy, increase religious tolerance, etc.

But it will take a life time if they do not take these steps.
FamilyRe: Wife Wants To Meet An Uncle In A Hotel For Cheque To Meet Her Deposit Target by Peterwins(m): 3:43pm On Dec 07, 2012
I have been in the banking sector and this is a piece of cake.

She should simply go with a colleague. Case closed. Professional ethics demands this despite the pressure to meet targets.
If the "uncle" has no ulterior motive, then he would not mind seeing her with a colleague to pick the cheque during banking hours.

I have a friend who actually drove his wife (a banker) to a hotel to collect a cheque from a male customer on a saturday!!!. Guess what? The wife stormed back to the car from the hotel (husband was waiting in the car for her) without the cheque narrating how the customer was trying to manipulate her to sleep with him before collecting the cheque. She "thought" it will be professional for her to enter the hotel without her husband accompanying her to the hotel room.... husband also thought same, hence his willingness to remain in the hotel car park not even to wait in the lobby.

There is a female banker who recently got raped in a hotel here in Abuja. The rapist drugged her, raped her and stole her car. Thank GOD she came out alive.

Working in the banking industry some few years ago exposed me to the good, bad and ugly sides of the Nigeria banking industry.

The unwholesome deposit targets have actually driven some female bankers (even married ones) into corporate prostitution with or without their husband's knowledge. Quite sad.
PoliticsRe: Federal Govt, Stopped World Bank From Given More Loan To Lagos State Govt.. by Peterwins(m): 2:23pm On Nov 29, 2012
The FG should simply state the rules for being a guarantor for states. It makes sense when issues are based on objectivity rather than subjectivity.

For example, states could be guaranteed for not more than 25% of their expected yearly federal allocation. So in case of default, the FG simply deducts directly from the defaulting state's federal allocation. This will also make each state to know when it has reached its borrowing capacity for loans that require FG guaranty.

There are still several options left for the Lagos state government to secure loans at single digit interest rate in the international market.

The major problem with these loans secured by different state governments in Nigeria is that the projects are usually over-priced. A project that may cost N10billion will be inflated at over 50%. Several examples exist.

Nigeria may face a Greece catastrophe in future if fiscal and monetary discipline is taken for granted.

My bro, I feel your pain and hurts. Life can be forking tough but remember the good times. Do you need to end ur life because of what you are facing now. If you feel all hope is gone, why not try something drastic like robbing or kidnapping except you think your problem can't be solved. You ave got one life to live and after that, nothing else. Take one day at a time and try something you ave never done before to derive a different result. I know you are still alive. If it was that bad, you won't announce it on Nairaland. My name is Angela and I Have been going through a lot spiritually and physically. I'm 32 yrs old with a 6 yr old daughter and everyday I pray that God keeps me here to see my little girl grow up to be a beautiful young woman. Her father passed away last year on a motorcycle collision that left me and her behind. He didn't have insurance to cover him and to this day I still pay on his prearranged funeral services. I don't like asking anyone for help and I would label myself quite prideful...but for my child I have to push that aside. We are in need of our rent to be paid in excess of 1500.00 with late fees included. I became so weak due to my cancer I had to resign from my position at work. I'm asking for a miracle today... I want to have a safe place for me and my baby to stay and I want her memories of me to be pleasant as possible...I'm fighting everyday for us. Anything an angel could help us with would be a blessing. I love you guys and God Bless you. Pray for us. Thank you.

FamilyRe: Coping With Marital Finances by Peterwins(m): 6:24pm On Nov 20, 2012
davidylan: one thing i've learned... when you meet a woman you truly love and who truly loves you back then issues like this fade away.
The point being your entire being is about how to make her happy and she you. You wont need to be splitting bills down percentage lines but will gladly do what makes things easier for each other.
Well said. If both partners know what being married is all about, then their relationship will be blissful irrespective of whatever challenges they face in the course of their relationship. Marriage is a beautiful thing created by GOD. However, the misconception (distorted views/ideas) have allowed some people to make a mess of their marital life.
FamilyRe: Face With A Divorce Decision And I Need Ur Candid Advice by Peterwins(m): 8:24pm On Nov 16, 2012
I must commend you for stating the two sides to your family issues. You have presented it in such a mature manner that is very rare when people narrate their problems. This maturity must now translate into actions when dealing with your immediate family.

At this moment please do not get into any verbal argument with your wife even if she provokes you. Now take these actions:
1. Pray (since you are a Christian), remember men should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1).
2. Be very calm.
3. Worship in "her" church (even if you don't like their doctrine) this sunday and seek an audience with the (her) Pastor and explain everything you have stated here (a faceless forum) to him. You might be surprised that GOD whom you have prayed to may use her Pastor/church to save your marriage.
4. Explain to your wife that she should give you some time to sought out all the issues she has mentioned noting that some of them can only be solved as your income improves while other issues that don't need money will be dealt with.
5. Don't accept her divorce except on the grounds of infidelity and violence (threat to life).
6. Long lasting happy marriages take hard and smart work. So if you want yours to succeed, work hard and smart at it.
7. Enjoy life with your wife whom you love...(Ecclesiastes 9:9).

Really!!! I thought they weren't even allowed to enter such meetings with their phones and other electronic devices to counter any form of local or international espionage. I am really surprised.
This is a simple breach of security, common courtesy and protocol that shouldn't have been ignored in the first instance. That means it is easy to bug Aso Rock. I hope they have debugging devices at Aso Rock, if not they should get one ASAP.
FoodRe: Golden Morn Unsuitable For Children Under 3 Years by Peterwins(op):
This is not a smear campaign against Nestle. In fact Food and drug companies globally usually go through these issues because of new scientific discoveries that makes some of their products unsuitable for further consumption or use. Hence the need for modification or total withdrawal of the product from the market depending on the seriousness of the country's food and drug regulators.

We should remember that sometime ago NAFDAC stopped bakeries from using potassium bromate and saccharine in bread production. Bakers started placing on their respective bread labels - BROMATE AND SACCHARINE FREE. Before this regulation came, how many Nigerians have been eating bread containing bromate and saccharine!!!

PFIZER (the multi-national drug manufacturer) almost got away from paying compensation to Nigerian ( about 200 or more children) victims after it administered its drug (TROVAFLOXACIN). Some of these children died in the "experiment" while others developed mental and physical deformities. Guess what? Pfizer denied these claims and even tried to blackmail some of our government officials over this issue.

Nestle should do the needful and stop being economical with the truth. It is how these issues are handled that really matters. Some of these "mistakes" are a result of professional negligence and the lacklustre stance of some of the regulators in Nigeria. Imagine if this issue happened in the USA. The FDA won't take it lightly.

Who knows? This matter may not end here.

The best response is to come out clean with the truth even though it may hurt your sales and corporate image for a while. Some persons might dig very deep and institute a class action suit against Nestle Nigeria and win even if you put up a formidable defense team of SAN's. Golden morn was never meant to be an infant cereal but your organisation ignored it without putting appropriate warning until now. I have researched and I have my facts. A mass media campaign for its proper use may not be a bad start for now. I don't have enough time right now to discuss further. I will get back later. Thanks.
