^^^ I told you before that you don't know the people you argue against and where we all are coming from. Do not fool yourself - miracles happen but they come at God's time, in God's way. Many of us too have seen demons flee, seen healing and restoration and had miraculous encounters. But they do not come at our behest and they are the smallest part of Christianity. Do you know why?

The new birth is enough miracle and is the only true miracle because it is the only one that will last. Restored eyesight or limbs are transient because you can lose them again and will in fact lose them when you die. Only the new birth follows you into eternity. Who gets new birth has ALL that is compulsory. If they have further need of a miracle and God wills it, they will get it without stage-managing. Which is mainly what we say about the "prosperity gospel":people are fighting for the temporal rather than the permanent.

If what you have taken away from all our writings here is that we believe miracles do not happen, then your English is worse than terrible. What we believe is that most "miracles" are staged because the proponents want to "help" the faith of others and make themselves look good. This has NO place in true Christianity - would Jesus lie to further His cause?

That is not the Spirit of Christ.

One wonders why this is so difficult to understand

If you take miracles out of christianity then you are saying Jesus did not rise from the death. The son of man came to destroy the works of the devil. Father thank you for every miracle that took place in NOB, that was your power and glory. Indeed i serve the resurrected christ.

No one has tried to take miracles out of christianity, nuella.

Yes i do bro. He began to hear again and came to testify. It was during his mum's testimony that epilepsy was mentioned. After Pastor cast out the devil, the boy confirmed he was free. 'How do you know?' Pastor asked the boy; 'I know. . . i felt it' came the reply. Soo touching.

nuclearboy:

sad sad

These conversations only clarify how deeply Satan has penetrated into the supposed "Church"! And why not? "Church" in the days Christ & His Apostles walked earth was a gathering of like-minded people (who wished to serve God) WHEREVER they met. Today, the term has become synonymous with special acoustically enhanced architectural wonders with air-conditioning, shopping malls, special effects etc. These play host to "audiences" seeking entertainment as often as excuse can be found for such "entertainment sessions" and are called churches. "Blessed" owners of such entertainment centers are those who can convince the most people to visit and give the most. Such are today known as "Men of God" when in the Bible, those known by that appellation were "the scorned of the earth, men whom the world was unworthy of, crucified, of many sorrows, beaten, burnt, sawed in half, tortured etc". Such included Jesus Himself, Peter, Paul, Stephen, Elijah, Jeremiah, Micah, Abraham too, Daniel, David etc. But the Religion and trust these had in God is not enough for today's man and we need to ask - why are you different? Who are you following? Why is your life uncommonly like that of the Pharisees who were the Religious men of those days and were the "big men" too. They had the crowds, the adulation, the respect. They even had power with the politicians of those days just as many of our "mogs" today have the ear of presidents etc whom they eat and drink with (and collect Ghana must go bags from too). Why are you like these men? Whom are you following?

The motive also has changed. While Jesus scorned this life and went as far as saying this world is not His own, His "supposed" followers today (who claim Him rather than the Pharisees their lives testify of) say His Sacrifice has made them owners of this world. Strange, isn't it, when a follower says he is greater than his master. Jesus owns Heaven but his followers who He instructed not to conform to this world, say they own both earth and heaven. Financial profit has become todays motive for a brand of Christianity the Apostles Peter & Paul never knew.

Pastor AIO's comparison of what Jesus wanted and what a "follower" wants today shows all there is to show about these supposed followers of Christ and the difference between them and Jesus Christ. I don't know which Jesus they follow but it is NOT the one who said to make NO provision for gold or silver and that He was not of this world.

Spot on, Nuke! I personally believe these folks keep giving themselves away all the time.  .  . and its easy for them to continue this way undetected by most people as they've already done their homework well with criminally crafted white lies such as the popular "touch not mine anointed".  .  . "judge discern not"

Oga Joe,

It beats me how you arrived at this:

Joagbaje:

Private halls , home halls, school halls etc. Paul once hired a school hall for the teaching of Gods word.

From this:

Joagbaje:

Acts 19:9
9 But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

and this:

Joagbaje:

He had hid himself from dangers and authorities, but when he had opportunity, he settles down .Finally he rented a house and use the hall for meetings.

from this:

Joagbaje:

Acts 28:30-31
30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ.

His female version showed her Bible scholarship too on the rhapsody of reality thread misquoting the lesser is blessed by the giver and link that to Abraham and Melchizedek. Seriously, this lines up with their trademark prideful and boastful attitude about their giving. Its one of the things I kept wondering about back then. I thought we were supposed to keep to Jesus' teachings on this; that we were not to let the right hand know what the left was doing, but these guys couldn't stop boasting about their giving and even disclose details about it!  shocked Whatever happened to your heavenly father seeing your deeds in secret and blessing you openly??

It's no surprise they'd now say the lesser is blessed by the giver.  undecided

Religion / Re: Pastor Chris oyakhilome: Don’t Excuse Sickness! by petres007(m): 6:26pm On Feb 06, 2011
Joagbaje:

If you study Paul’s writing in context, you’ll discover he wasn’t referring to any kind of sickness or infirmity of the body. The 10th verse lets us know he was referring to the batterings he experienced from the persecutions, reproaches, distresses and adversities he faced for the sake of the Gospel. He never for once rejoiced about being sick or excused sickness.

Understand that Jesus came, not just to die for us and save us from sin, or to heal our sick bodies, but also to give us Zoë, the God-kind of life. That life is what you received when you were born again, and it can’t be destroyed by sickness, disease and infirmity.
Sadly, many haven’t understood what this life is all about, so they suffer ignorantly with sickness (Hosea 4:6). But as you take a hold of this truth today and live by it, you’ll begin to experience the joy of living in divine health.

Confession
I refuse to be sick because it’s not in my nature. I’m a new creation in Christ Jesus; old things are passed away, and all things have become new. The man that could get sick is dead; the “me” that’s alive today has Zoë – the supernatural life of God that makes me invincible and impregnable to sickness, disease and infirmity.

Obviously, Paul didn't have this "supernatural life" you Oyaksians rant about. He did get sick and didn't see it as strange and hence, no need to "make excuses" for it:

12 Brothers, I beseech you, become as I am, because I also have become as you are. You never did me any wrong;

13 on the contrary, you know that although it was illness which brought about my preaching the gospel to you at my first visit,

14 and although my bodily affliction was a trial to you, you did not scoff at it nor spurn me, but welcomed me like an angel of God, like Christ Jesus himself.

At the Healing school, the students are not taught to stop their drugs, they are only taught the word of God.
They are taught on how to receive their healing
After they are ministered to, they are encouraged to go back to their doctors to confirm their healing
If there are no changes yet they organize another class for them but their drugs still continues

Sounds so much like the 100% record of Jesus & the apostles "miracles ministry", doesn't it? I mean, lots of folk were ministered to who observed no changes and had to come back for more "classes" on how to receive their healing.  grin
