Lol, and he continues to spew more trash. Ask yourself, how could the Ijaws make inroads into Igboland when they were actually leaving at the mercy of Igbos during the precolonial times?

It was Igbos that made very significant inroads all over the Niger Delta. There were Igbos rulers all over the Niger Delta. Igbo language is still spoken as indigenous language in places as far away as Bonny, same as it is prevalent in Opobo, Okrika and the rest. Can you point to one instance where Ijaw had any influence over any Igbo territory in history?

Thank your stars that Igbos are not mien and aggressive like the Fulani otherwise you won't even be here arguing.

If you couldn't stand the Igbos during precolonial times when you had advantage of trading directly with the White man is it now?

There is a reason why you all are lumped together and called minorities, so stop challenging those that are way above your league.

The worst thing that would happen to you guys will be to provoke Igbos into a fight because you all will end up in the Atlantic ocean. If we could fight the rest of Nigeria with massive British, Russian, Egypt, Chad and Nigerien support to a standstill, then who are the Ijaws to stand in our way?

Blowing up pipelines in the night or ambushing weak Nigerian soldiers doesn't mean you can now challenge the Igbos.
To start with, we did not have Igbo rulers. It is misunderstanding our culture that makes you Igbo spew trash!
That Ijaw people were split between the defunct east and western regions don't make us minorities. Even if that was the case there is nothing wrong with being a minority.

After all the Fulani minorities use your political elite as they wish.

Much of the Igbo language being spoken in some parts of the Niger Delta as a 2nd, 3rd or 4th language has a lot to do with colonial administration.

There are Ijaw people in Ondo who also speak Yoruba, there are Ijaw people in parts of Delta who also speak Urhobo. There are Itsekiri people who speak Urhobo, most Fulani in Nigeria also speak Hausa, some as a first language.

It is only Igbos, due to their inferiority complex that go around claiming people who don't identify with them. We bare Ijaw names, our monarchs go by Ijaw titles yet you try to claim us. Leave Opobo, Okrika and Bonny alone! We have nothing to do with you guys.

You are not in any way different from the Fulani, the difference is that you are a bunch of cowardly weaklings, weaklings hoping Chief Asari-Dokubo would fight their fight for them.

There is nothing you Igbo can do! It is not in our nature to fight but if you don't respect your boundaries you will learn the hard way.

Ijaw traders deliberately learnt the Igbo language so they could have advantage over you. They could have imposed their language on you but that didn't serve their interests.

We won't be "blowing pipelines" today if not for the greed of Azikiwe, Ironsi, Ojukwu, Okpara and the rest of your Igbo elite.

Chief Harold Dappa Biriye, an Ijaw chief from the grand Bonny kingdom spearheaded the quest for an Ijaw region that aimed to unify the eastern Ijaw with their western Kith and kin.

Until we joined the fray, Nigeria was not winning. The way we won you then, we will always win you if the need arises.

Instead of respecting boundaries your greed and quest to fill like people are making you claim other people's history and homeland.

Lol, this guy's argument is so weak and watery. Where in Imo State can one see or hear anything that resembles ijaw? Owerri, Mbaise, Orlu, Ohaji, Oguta or where exactly? However, on the contrary, we can see and hear of Igbo footnotes all over Rivers and indeed Niger Delta. Go to Opobo, Okrika, Bonny and even as far as Bayelsa, and you will see Igbo influence that lasts till date.

Just thank your God that Igbos mostly considered the riverine areas as disease infested and not hospitable for human habitation which made them not to abandon it for you guys, otherwise you all would have been landless today.
It is because you don't even know what is Igbo that you think Igbo footnote is in Ijawland.

To start with neither Imo or her state capital, Owerri are Igbo words.

Practically all the words you mentioned have zero connection to Igboland or Igbo language.

Around the world there are places founded by Spanish speaking people that for some reasons are being inhabited by non-Spanish speakers today.

Enjoy your loot while it lasts, the North has already extradited you from their land. Lagos deported some of you, Wike is smoking you out of Oyigbo. Wait for Ijaw to join the fray, you anything we do, we do it well. Wait till we send you out!

The beauty of the riverine women in the eyes of the average Nigerian is directly proportional to the amount of Igbo blood they possess. Not hate, just stating facts. I've noticed that where this Igbo blood reaches it's zenith is often where people often claim the most beautiful of them live.

So why would an Igbo person ever be jealous of that when the 'beauty' of the riverine is that of the average Igbo women?

This is why I've seen some riverines with Igbo blood abroad keep humble-bragging that "everyone keep's mistaking me for a Igbo woman oh my goodness! angry" Lol.

Other than those who are heavily admixed, real riverines and Igbos don't look similar at all. Take a trip to Imo state to see the average Igbo looks. After that, look at the comments of early European explorers and towards places like Yenagoa to see what pure riverines with limited Igbo blood look like.
If you know the history of Imo state you wouldn't even bring it into the picture! Many in Imo have Ijaw blood. That people speak Igbo in many parts of Imo today doesn't mean they are Igbo within the historical context.

The ijaws and ibibios never sold slaves, the aro sold slaves. The aros conquered the aro territory, they managed to clear waves and waves of ibibios. After the war, they began selling ibibios as slaves, other minorities, then they started selling igbos.

Do igbos even know you exist? Out of all the 10 years I spent in igbo land, I never heard ijaw once. It is the other way around. Igbo women aren't even that willing to marry yoruba man, takless of ijaws. Igbos are not on your level. We can never be on your level. Nobody has ever declared ijaw beautiful for anything. Ijaw dressing inflenced by their aro slave masters. I would rather marry a boko haram suicide bombing woman, than marry an ijaw woman whose dna has probably been messed up by oil. Out of the 15 years I have spent in Naija, i have never met an ijaw in my life, not even in rivers state.
Well, the only African that has won miss World is an Ijaw woman so there is no way anyone can deny their beauty. I wouldn't marry an Igbo woman despite their numerous proposals.

I prefer Ijaw women, after Ijaw women my second preference in Nigeria are Yoruba women.

There was no way on earth the Aro could have influenced Ijaw. To start with, Aro became 'Igbo' not too long ago. It was a trade outpost used mostly by Ibibio and Ijaw traders. Initially it was prominent for slave trade and later oil palm trade.

The truth may be bitter but it is the truth, we are truly not on the same level. If comparison is being made you Igbo would be compared with your Hausa compatriots and not us. I wonder where you were when we had Nigeria's 1st SAN, 1st indigenous journalist etc. That you Igbo abused your position in the defunct eastern region shouldn't get into your head.

The ijaws where aro slaves and ruled by the aro, that is why you guys have some of our culture.

The abam warriors sold all tribes in the east into the slave trade. You ijaws where very backward. The abam warriors captured whole ijaw communities in less than days and sold them all.

Calm down, no one is forcing anyone to be Igbo.People here are just giving you a good dose of reality to cure your delusions.

Igbos naturally feel they're superior, so they wouldn't agree that just anyone to be Igbo.

This is why Igbo men prefer to marry only Igbo women; so they can preserve their genes.

Similarly, in order to maintain blood purity, the Igbo elite in riverian areas had to undergo many expenses to marry women from deep inside Igboland.
Which is why some riverines today (e.g asari dokubo), boast that their ancestors refused to marry their own women and exclusively married Igbo women. Lol.
It is people who don't understand our system that would tell you Ijaw people saw Igbo in high regard! That is not true, I don't believe anybody is superior or inferior.

In those days Ijaw people truly believed Igbo were inferior. That was why only Ijaw men married Igbo women. Ijaw women married only Ijaw men. It was abominable for Ijaw women to marry Igbo men.

In fact in many cases the Ijaw man's relationship with the Igbo woman can't be described as marriage. You could see her as a natural surrogate mother who bore seed for the man or for his close kinfolk.

There were also instances wives brought such women for their husbands when they were done with child bearing or unable to give birth.

In many Ijaw communities you must marry a woman from the community first before any other women. The constant wars we fought due to our trade activities required more manpower. That informed our decision to have children with Igbo, buy Igbo slaves and integrate them etc.

Yesterday I read that the country is broke that out of 1.64trillion naira revenue like over 1trillion is used to settle debts and Nigeria is still borrowing.

Think just a few days ago electric Cars were launched in Nigeria, its going viral I'm foreign countries sooner or later the era of oil would be over and Nigeria didn't achieve anything tangible from all the decades of oil wealth.

Am not saying we Igbo's are the best but don't u think we should be allowed to try our hands to see if we can solve this problem.

I am 100 percent in favour of an Igbo being president. Sadly, the dynamics of Nigerian politics is against it. Except PDP and APC both agree to field Igbo candidates the Igbo have no chance of winning the 2023 polls. If u are using this as an excuse that some Igbo's want Biafra so for that we should not be allowed to rule, u are proving ipob right and shaming Igbo's like me who hv pledged our 100% allegiance to Nigeria.

Every region at one point wanted out but that didn't still stop them from ruling Nigeria.

We didn't say we want Niger Delta! None of the major militant groups have called for separation. People place division as a condition if all other options fail. That's the difference.

You will need overwhelming turnout in the four zones except the North West and North East to get an Igbo elected president.

Even as a PDP apologist, I support Umahi.

Now everyone is talking about Igbo presidency.
There is NO time people didn't talk about Igbo presidency. To tell you the truth, it is dead on arrival. APC may end up having a Yoruba flagbearer( don't rule out a Northerner). PDP would field a Northerner and if APC fields a Southerner the PDP will win.

The South lost her influence in 2015. Some Igbo failed to turn up at the polls. A significant chunk of the Yoruba vote went for Buhari. Those votes changed the whole dynamics.

Since 1999 till date, the North has never voted for a Southerner in an election you have a Northern candidate. I don't see that changing anytime soon. The best bet of the Igbo would have been to remain in the PDP and take the vice presidency slot.

In all, I think being president or vice is irrelevant. What we should be pushing for is the right legislative reforms that would empower our respective ethnic nations.

Ijaws have no land. The land they occupy now was ruled by the aro confederacy. As far as I am concerned, the only igbos that have any link with other tribes is we onitshans, we trace our roots to Eze Chima, a bini prince from the arochukwu region. We are confirmed igbos. Ibibio, Igala, Urhobo , Ogoni and Benin have no share in igbo land. Any attempt to annex igbo land will be met with serious resistance. If we make our own historical claims, Ijaws will have nothing. Ogonis trace their roots to Ghana.

The ancient white settlers drew the map of igbo land, and the maps showed that igbos had large access to the sea. If we open the history books instead of taking the igbo territory the nigerian government left for us, you guys will complain.
